Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Middle of the Road

For the most part, the hotel and its premises were reasonably kept and up to expectation; the best part was the excellent quality of the matresses in the rooms so you were guaranteed a good night's rest. The room cleaning service we found to be quite inadequate.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Amazing time!!

I had a great time. I have traveled to this resort 5 times now and it only gets better. The process of booking with martine at trip central was amazing. I have booked all of my trips with her and tripcentral and I never have had any issues. Thanks again for a great trip!

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Awesome week

The beach was beautiful! We played beach volleyball almost everyday with different people on the resort! Lots of food options! Italian restaurant was our fav! If you do an excursion, the 12 waterfalls are absolutely amazing! Staff and drinks great!

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: Lovely resort

Cudos for the following: - friendly, polite helpful staff at front desk, restaurants, bars and activities, most spoke reasonable English & many are proficient; terrific beach, fine pool & well-tended gardens; carefully prepared & presented wide selection of food options at Mirador buffet; other restaurants inconsistent foods & service; loved the poolside lunch/snack bar; updated public bathrooms clean & well supplied; activity programs well-suited to guests; the few souvenir vendors on site & [... read more] at beach were not pushy. Our ocean-view room in Bldg 3 was adequate with nice closet but missing a bureau/dresser for other clothing; chairs on balcony were old broken rattan & very uncomfortable though others had plastic chairs; housekeeping of room was spotty- new sheets/bed made & fresh towels/supplies daily but table tops, sink & floor done once in 10 days - needs improvement. Bars have only a very poor draft lite beer - needs improvement. Casino & disco are small unappealing rooms but not facilities we look for in a resort. This resort suits families and middle/older ages.

Excellence El Carmen: Excellente vacation

Like the name of the resort our vacation was excellent. We have been to many five star adult only resorts, and the excellence el carmen is by far the best yet. We were in a swim up room and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the room. The food at every restaurant was amazing as was the service. Every employee we met was happy and eager to please. Melia Caribe Beach Resort: An awesome resort

The resort was a big resort well maintained resort. Very friendly people there and always a pleasure to talk with. Rooms were well maintained and cleaned regularly The food was excellent and well organized. We would love to go back there

Occidental Caribe: Great vacation

We enjoyed our stay at this resort. It is in a great location with a very nice beach and pools. The restaurant choices were adequate and the service was great. We had an ocean front room with a great view! However the room itself was average and could use some upgrading in the bathroom. Overall though the resort was clean and the staff friendly and accommodating.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Not a 5 or 4 star

ThE grounds at this resort aren't kept clean. There isn't any service at the pool, beach or lobby/bar. So all the dirty glasses are everywhere. We also saw them just rinse with tap water only all the glasses and put them back on the counter or on the hanging rack at the dance bar. Disgusting! ! The rooms smelled musty. Bath tub had long hair all over in it on our arrival. There is no ground maintenance. Lots of activities at the pool. Beach wasnt nice. Food was good at the buffet. Punta Cana Princess: Amazing resort

The resort was clean and the staff were amazing. They supplied fresh water daily and if you ran out all you had to do was ask, at no charge. The ala carte’s were all very good. It was so nice to have one every night. Would definitely recommend it to everyone and would also have a return trip there.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Wonderful place to relax!

We have been to this resort five times now and are planning a sixth. We love the lay out, the cold pools and it is close to many restaurants and shops. The renovations are quite nice as well! I noticed a few new items in the buffets as well. The grounds are very well kept. The activities around the pool are quite interesting to observe and fun for any one who wants to participate. Overall, once again, it was a great vacation!

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Not amazing but pretty good.

When we arrived at our room we were disgusted. It was so old looking and smelled musty. Being so late at night we had to stay there. No sleep that night and this was an upper class room. I wasn't happy with my agent at that time. We complained and they said they would help us at 9am next morning. We sat in the lobby all the next day waiting for a room. They offered for us to change resorts at a cost of $1000 each. Imagine. We declined. Finally they took us to look at the lower class rooms late a [... read more]fternoon. They were great, clean and updated. We lost at least a day but it turned out a lot better after the room disaster was corrected. The alacartes were good until the cats entered and the birds flying around. The buffet was just ok. I would not go back there myself but not saying it is a bad resort. All in all it was an ok trip. Grand Bavaro Princess: Bavaro Princess All Suites

Considering the resort was hit last year by hurricane it was amazing to see that the gardens and grounds had been restored to such a high level. Most of the gardens were exquisite. Was disappointed to see that the big pool by the beach had been reduced in size since our last visit in order to build more bungalows. We were unable to use the beach very much to catch the sun due to high winds and getting sand blasted while using loungers and palapas. I watch the pool guys meticulously clean the pool every morning but even with all his efforts the pool seemed to be dirty due to paint chips missing. The food quality has greatly declined since our last visit. All the buffets had the same food over and over and all deserts tasted the same whether they were custards, white cake or chocolate cake. At breakfast the bacon was inedible. Not a very good selection on the salad bar of ingredients or dressings to create own salad. The steak house served very tough fillet mignon and T-bone steak that could hardly be cut or chewed. The Japanese restaurant served the best food we ate at this resort for our 2 week stay. We were also locked out of our room 2 nights in a row. The first night required 2 trips to the front desk and a 75 minute wait with the door open for the security guards(they were very nice and appoligetic) about the inconvenience. The next day the same thing happened....we were locked out again and the security had to change the lock once more.....this time was only an hour wait....mindless to say while the door was open biting insects made their way into the room and proceed to enduce multiple bites on my legs and feet. The morning of our departure the hotel did try to make amends by offering us a 2 day free stay which they realized that we could not accept due to our flight leaving in four hours. Complaints were made to the Sunwing rep at the resort but there was no compasion for our ordeal. All in all we will definitely not return to this resort.......we have been there X2 and both times our holidays were less than we expected.

Paradisus Punta Cana: Very nice resort

All the staff worked hard to make sure we enjoyed our stay and were quick to offer any assistance we may have required. We found everything from the rooms to the grounds and the buffets clean and well-kept. The restaurants were very good and the buffets offered a wide variety of dishes. Not every dish was amazing but we were always able to find something good to eat. Sadly we could never find a chair at the pool because they are apparently reserved for towels. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Place to stay

Our first trip to DR and also a first with VH Ventana. This is an older resort but in excellent condition, you can tell they work hard to maintain it. Some sections (ours was) have been updated, very nice! The food here was fabulous in all sections with the exception of Italian. We did not go as friends highly suggested not to. Buffet, Octopus and Beach grill were all excellent. You will be pleased with the selections. Opt for the middle upgrade worth every penny, gives your unlimited internet,  [... read more]your own section of beach and access to Vintage club bar with premium liquor, a concierge. The beach.... wow nice, not white sand but still wow! You could easily walk 10k one way. Remember this resort, I fully recommend it!

Secrets Royal Beach: Great Resort!

Loved this resort! Preferred is not necessary as the resort Is lovely without the upgrade. Would recommend this resort . Great service , food !! Rooms are large and spacious. We had room overlooking pool! Grounds are breathtaking and well mantained.

Riu Merengue: Decent for the price

Very nice beach and pools. Big resort with lots of people. Not recommended for singles, or young partiers. No real nightlife on resort...Disco charges for drinks (was always empty for good reason), and the bar that stays open passed 11pm is just a big hall....no music. Not a bad place for the price.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Great for the price!

Very well maintained grounds,fairly friendly staff. Rooms are basic,but clean (did find one roach and had to be out of our room the next day by 9 am for it to be sprayed,not sure what they used but my wife and I had sore throats that night and next morning). We were bothered a couple of times for the timeshare but nothing serious. We paid about $2,000 Can. per couple, great price and we had a great time. Our biggest complaint would be no nightlife after 10pm. Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Amazing Majestic Elegance

Well I was a bit concerned before leaving for trip of all the negativity on rooms being overbooked and poor quality at resort. I was greatly relieved to get there and not have a problem in this area od concern at all. We had a room very close to where we requested with our other couple we travelled with. They were happy with their room and it was close to us. We managed nicely with the 3rd couple as we were able to go to ala cartes together and do various activities. We spent time at the swim up pool bar with them and also used our club perks as well. The butler Joan, was very attentive and we saw him every day. In fact he also was great with our other guests. We didn't pay him a exorbitant tip, but we did tip him appropriately. The rooms were very clean and our cleaning lady Oneil was always on time and our rooms done early each day . The bartender Felix in the main lobby was very entertaining as well as Maxima and the bartending staff at the swim up bar . The staff at the Buffet was always smiling and cheery as well as the a la carte staff we used. Forget our cook at the Japanese restaurant but was very helpful in making sure if you didn't like the seafood you still had the other food as well. He was very entertaining as well with his little show for us. This was our 2nd time at the Elegance and would not hesitate to go back again very soon. In fact, my brother in law is intent on a swimup with the two rooms next time.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: good resort

Food was good and the grounds were well maintained. This was our third time at this resort. Forgot that there was a lot of rocks in the water. Room was not what we requested. Said that we did not want a ground floor room but that was what we got. Also info said that no March breakers were allowed any time of the year. But there was a lot of groups of 12 or more that were in their late teens. They were well behaved though. Lots of hot water in shower but the shower head was on a long pole that wa [... read more]s supposed to make you able to adjust the height. It did not work and the shower head was always at armpit level. Ala cart meal at steakhouse was great. At the snack bar the beer tap always produced foamy beer. Generally the bartenders were pretty good except for a few at pool/beach bar. Found service not very good there so we went to the beach/ snack bar at the Merengue when we set up at the beach near there. Noticed if you were a group of pretty girls, the grounds men offered you a coconut. We were never offered any during our whole week at the beach.

Riu Merengue: Don't waste ur money!!

We stayed at Riu Merengue..the worst vacation I have ever had..in 7 days we had 4 rooms....mold in fridge..mold on walls..ac didn't work...when we called to get it fixed...they gave us the run around...people r not friendly..we slept out on the balcony cause the room was so humid and it smelled bad..facuets were broken....no hot water...no one to come fix it..tv well u couldn't even see what was on they were so old...remotes were broken...they don't stock ur fridge everyday...customer service do [... read more]es not exist...they have no clue what ur saying...this place should have a rating of minus1...same food everyday for 7 days...food was not good either....no blow dryer no coffee maker...no iron when it said it had all that in the rooms...i have never ever been so disappointed on a vacation like this one...and too boot when I sent emails....nobody bothered with what we were going through..read ur reviews before making ur choices....jammed packed and no place to even go...and locals also stay there...and the noise is insane at night....holiday from hell we r so not impressed....keep ur money in ur pockets....dont throw it away on a resort like this one....oh ya...we were not told this resort has been sold to Bachata...so please go somewhere....where u know u won't have all these problems....
