Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Another incredible vacation

Every time we go to the Melia Cayo Santa Maria, it's like we are going to our families home. The food was plentiful, a few issues with the power grid, but that is expected. It is actually the first time since we have been there in 13 years. There is no sign of COVID on the island. We were never without water during our 3 stays since November. The entertainment has returned and is very enjoyable We will be returning December 2023 for another 10 day vacation

Melia Las Antillas: Very nice hotel

The hotel was very clean the service was amazing the food was good I good right a lot of thing but I will make it short and sweet it is a very nice resort and I will not think twice to go back so all I can say nice nice nice nice nice

Melia Cayo Coco: Great Resort, amazing beach, fantastic customer service

amazing beach, fantastic customer service, quick resolution to shower issues, A/C etc. Almost immediate response. Special thanks to Yunismy, customer care representative. Great maintenance of the resort in general.

Melia Las Antillas: Nice smaller resort

Hotel a bit dated but clean and site well maintained. Beach is amazing, wide beach, white sand and no shortage of chairs. Good entertainment, they do organize very nice special events and shows for guests. Great concierge service when booking VIP, except the ocean view suites 4th floor do not offer a view of the ocean... Food shortage was worse than expected, very repetitive at buffet, no pasta, no milk, no shrimps, fries 1 night, minimal fruit and vegetable selection, no milk... There w [... read more]as no wine all week except for 2 nights at a la carte dinner only and no lobster at the included lobster dinner. The snackbar only offered pork burgers and sometimes chicken. Bring your wine, condiments and snacks. No issues with hotel but food shortages however is a big problem. Heard from other tourists on bus that food shortages where not as bad in other resorts. Would only go back knowing this is corrected.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful resort

It was a lovely resort ,anything you asked for it was taken of ,our tap was broken in the bathroom no problem they came right up n fixed it ,the rooms were made up daily every one was so friendly,the meals were good but we could have used butter all week not just once ,but the bread was good and fresh didn’t really need butter ,would come back in a minute.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Worst resort we have ever visited and unsafe

Wifi only in lobby area and that was scarse. No wifi in rooms or anywhere else on resort. Awful food, dirty buffet restaurant with cockroaches near food. We have been back home 3 days and still have travellers diarrhea We witnessed staff fighting, punching each other, kicking chairs. Felt very unsafe for rest of vacation. Asked to speak to manager twice with no response. Zero night entertainment. Mosquito haven. We are all covered in bites. Paradisus Rio De Oro: We had a very good time in Paradisus Rio De Oro!

My husband and I came for one week. It is our 2nd time on this resort. Ocean-view bungalow look cozy but needs upgrade. Room was always clean! The view of the ocean was spectacular (this is why we staying here the 2nd time). Nice landscape: workers put a lot of efforts for it to look good. Entertaining team create a great atmosphere and customers have a lot of fun throughout a day. Food in buffet is okay: couple of time something was not very fresh and or tasty, but we always find something go [... read more]od to eat. The fish and meat grill and crapes stations were very good; the eggs/omelet and pasta stations were also good. Due to drought there were no bananas and mangoes. Desserts were not as good as last time (4 years ago).. Food in Mediterranean Restaurant was not tasty or special. It was my birthday and I suppose to get a cake but after 20 minutes of waiting we decided to leave without the cake. That was a little bit disappointing. In Cuban Restaurant the waiters purposely do not mentioned that they have the lobster (it was not on the menu), thus we ordered chicken. When we saw that other customers got the lobsters we inquired about it, so they brought us one lobster. Later we spoke with the other customers and they had the same experience. Either the restaurant did not have enough lobsters for everybody or maybe something fishy was going on there. Japanese restaurant was great: food is tasty and it's preparation was very entertaining. Staff are so friendly, helpful and professional! Thanks, guys!!! On Playa Esmeralda Beach we have been 6 times so far. In last couple of the visits we have noticed that the coral reef became bleached and started to die in some places. But during covid (without tourists I assume) the coral reef improved a lot and looks very healthy and beautiful again. Thus, snorkeling is great again! Overall, we had a very good time as usual in Cuba and in Paradisus Rio De Oro specifically. We will be back for sure soon.

Sol Palmeras: Excellent vacation

Wow! That was great. The hotel shows a little bit it's age on some of the bedroom's furniture (at least the "standard" we had) but nothing major, but the maintenance crew is on it. You can see staff fixing and renovating. The foyer it's huge and beautiful. The resort it's very well maintained and clean. Public washrooms are always clean and restocked. Room are cleaned every day, our cleaning staff did a very good job. Food was good, the buffet had lots of choices and trays were always refilled.  [... read more]The à la carte restaurants we tried were nothing exceptional but good (considering all we heard about Cuba). The resort has a beautiful landscape (lots of palm trees). The beach and water, number one. Last but not least, the people, amazing.

Sol Cayo Coco: Sol Cato coco

Resort was great for the money. The food was okay we were able to find what we needed. The beaches are amazing and great for kids. It wasn’t over crowded. We wanted sun sand and pool and where happy with all. For the price of this vacation it was good.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great trip

Overall, we had a wonderful time. The beach is beautiful in the pool was great. You can tell that the Buildings are a little bit worn, but overall they look after the property amazingly. The only downfall I would say, is the food does get a little bit Mandane. But that is Cuba. If you’re going there for the food, then you found the wrong country. The people are fantastic and the staff are amazing. Overall I traded 9 1/2 out of 10.

Melia Buenavista: Outstanding

You can snorkel and see amazing sea life right at the hotel! They have coral reefs right there and they are so so so beautiful! I’ve been to resorts all around central and South America and this one was my favorite! Food was good and service was lovely! Staff are thoughtful kind helpful and friendly. Rooms are spacious and more updated. The only thing I wish I had was a comforter for sleep. But we slept fine with layers of the blankets they provided. Also I didn’t bring flippers to snorkel and the staff brought me some so I could see all the sea life! Beautiful resort! lots of quiet areas and laidback! There’s one pool where there’s volleyball and some dancing! Also I love that staff brought me coconuts to drink! Definitely want to come back!

Sol Palmeras: Great vacation!

We stayed at Sol Palmeras for a week at the end of March 2023. We travelled as a couple and brought our MIL as well. The resort itself is beautiful and quite large. We stayed in the main building and did not upgrade our rooms. They were nothing special but were clean. The pool was awesome and the beach was fabulous. The resort offers a variety of activities which we very much enjoyed, especially the basketball & volleyball. We were pleasantly surprised by the food selection and quality. Everythi [... read more]ng was fresh and no one got sick, there was something for everyone. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would return.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Very nice resort

Entertainment team was great, Yaremin(I think that is how it is spelled) dis our pool activities, Yoga, stretching, cocktail classes. Dennis was a great teacher for the Dance lessons. A shout out to Ana and Rosa who also did some Drinks lessons and stretching. The nighty entertainment was great. Nahvi was a wonderful voice and very personable. Odennis at the Port Royal restaurant made the best drinks and was very helpful and always pleasant. Never had a problem finding food on the resort. Clean [... read more]ing staff kept washrooms very clean. The Havana tour was very good. Jo our tour guide was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about Cuba and the History. He gave us able time at each stop and was very accommodating to our questions.

Sol Varadero Beach: Absolutely Amazing

When we booked this originally. It was based on old pictures. They have recently updated the resort. We weren't sure what to expect when getting there. This resort was absolutely incredible. Beautiful updated rooms. Beach was one of a kind. There was quite a bit of selection for the buffet food. Also the 24 hour snack bar was on point. I don't think there was anything negative about this resort. Side note. 90% of the resort was French Canadian. Not that anything is wrong with that, just as a c [... read more]ouple that only speaks English it was limited in finding good conversations. Maybe just coincidence. Service was amazing as usual for Cuba.

Paradisus Varadero: Opportunity for improvement

This hotel has good bones but has been allowed to get run down Beautiful water pools in the main lobby should be filled with water lilies and tropical plants. Not the case - one pool does have carp and a turtle but the others are polluted. Bad first impression The beach is beautiful as are the pools. Lots of seating and umbrellas The resort is hugh but they have a great golf cart transport for those who don't want to walk. Food is not what we have been used to at a 5 star resort but [... read more] for most people there is always something to eat. They still struggle with running out of some products. For example ran out of eggs, sliced bread for tart 2 days out of 14; no butter. At dinner they always served the same thing - para, chicken quesidiela or grilled chicken. Like I said however most people where able to find something to enjoy for dinner Disappointing that they closed 2 of the speciality restaurants with no compensation for the client. I have to question how they tach Taff to wash floors. On more than one occasion I witnessed he maids taking water to wash the floors from the polluted water in the pools. Then they threw the dirty water back in the same pool. You could see the bristles from the brush floating in the water. Rooms were basic but kept clean. Beds comfortable. Bathroom design was terrible in 3524 a wheelchair accessible room. There was no way to have a shower without flooding th floor - a disaster waiting to happen The outside lighting entering into our room was burned out. I reported the problem the first morning after we got there. It looked like the tried to fix it but were unsuccessful and didn't come back in the 14 days of our stay. It is dangerous to try and navigate a wheelchair ramp in the dark. I did trip a few times on the paver and almost fell. Good thing I had travel insurance. When we booked our trip, I requested wheelchair service at the airport - no issues, a great help. I also requested a room on the first floor as there are no elevators at the resort On arrival, they had my husband and I in a room on the third floor. It took the rest of the day to find us accommodations. House staff denied that I made a request and tried to blame TripCentral for not submitting my request. The next morning they admitted that they did have the request. There is a lot of potential to improve this resort. I understand that they have a new manager who just arrived from Spain so perhaps he will get things shipshape again. As far as COVID - good spacing in the main dining hall; some staff wore masks No restrictions in tour buses but tourists wore masks. Hope you find this review helpful.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful hotel

Hotel was very nice and clean, people very friendly grounds were lovely, was nice being on second floor with nice balcony, recommend bringing your own condiments, and was a little disappointed no white wine until night before we left, had we known would have brought our own, other than that would definitely go back

Very nice but could do with a few more garbage recepticals around pool and beach area. We had to leave before breakfast was open would be nice if we could of had access to a pastry before we left as we were able to get a coffee but nothing to eat only a snack at the airport and on the plane but apart from those two things that was my only complaint.the staff could not of treated us any better

Melia Internacional: Very nice resort - some observations of note

Here are a few observations from my recent trip at the end of March 2023 - WIFI - was spotty, keeps dropping as you move around, and fastest speed I saw was 15MPS - not very reliable or fast - Coffee - the usual fulsome Cuban coffee of the past is no more - seems watered down - Food - Meh. I am not a foodie at all and can eat most anything - but the buffet selection became a bit tiresome. Good way to save paper for menus. - Cuban cigars are available at a deep discount to shop prices...ask around but only if you are comfortable taking a bit of risk - Resort is a bit 2-Tier - if you are a "Level" guest you have access to certain restaurants, a quiet pool, prime beach chairs, etc; I paid enough that I didn't want to be reminded of this daily - would be better if Level guests had their own private area that was not interspersed - While we were there, there was entertainment every night not just during the 945pm big show advertised, but also (unadvertised) were very good smaller acts (guitar, sax, singers, etc) at the red or blue bars nightly - 630pm to about 930pm - Hotel is walking distance to the edge of Varadero town - can walk all the way to the artisan market leisurely in about an hour, then a cab or 3-wheeler back to the hotel - Was pleased to see that entertainment was more Cuban/Spanish than earlier visits to Cuba where there was too much "Western" influence - ie hated seeing talented Cubans doing Michael Jackson impressions - Instead of bus pickup to the airport 4 hours before the flight, we took a cab 2 hours before and got there in plenty of time to check in and clear customs - Hotel rooms had full body pillows - loved them!

Paradisus Varadero: Beautiful resort

The resort was as beautiful as the photos on the website. The rooms were immaculate and decorated beautifully. The resort staff were friendly and helpful. The pools were huge and lots of chairs were always available. Highly recommend

Sol Palmeras: Good resort

Although the beach was short, it had plenty of parasols for shade and the sand was nice. It also had activities like paddleboat, kayak, catamaran, volleyball, exercises/stretching... The food was ok for Cuba (papaya, agave, canned pears, canned peaches, watermelon, pineapple, bananas), eggs/omelet for breakfast, pasta bar, pizza, fish station, pork... The "A La Carte" Italian restaurant was the best. All 5 were easy to book as long as you reserved before 9:00. The staff was nice and r [... read more]espectful. They were accommodating for the last day. We were given a room to go change and shower before going to eat and leave for the airport.
