Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful Resort

First time in Cuba and it was amazing, starting from Shanon at Tripcentral, she helped a lot. The resort was beautifully located staff very friendly food at alacarte Resturants was good buffet was OK as the selection keep s changing but if you r not a picky eater u will be OK. Again the free excursion was great and will recommend to buy the holiguin plus excursion. Will recommend everyone to go if you get it for $474. I paid that and trust me it was well worth it

Starfish Varadero: I love Cuba!!!

I usually always check out the reviews of the hotels before I book my vacation, this particular hotel had real promise when I read the description, but when I came there not everything was open and we did not get anything other then the small map to try and find out where everything was. Half of the hotel rooms are getting renovated and its very dangerous if kids or some drunk people stumble accidentally off a balcony. There was slight problems but they are all due to the renovations that are taking place and I am sure that this hotel will get better in time. (no hot water;you have to put the hot to the max and wait a few minutes and it will gradually become hotter.) some people in the hotel had also no hot water at all and no air conditioning but all got fixed when you knew how to complain because they would get free upgrades to Bungalows. Internet when it worked was faster then it used to be, but I only used facebook since the other sites just wouldn't load. The staff was amazing and welcoming as always, the beach and water were always perfect there were two pools one with a bar and animation and one that was closer to me was less visited but much cleaner and perfect for tanning and just enjoying the sun. A la carte restaurants: there was only one location but every night was different types of food, people that went there loved it, I never actually knew where and when we had to book them until the last day but that was actually the Cuban day (Thursday) when there was BBQ on pool and took no reservations. I read the bad reviews and I always tell myself this is all inclusive and some people work 12h shifts to provide us with this, so if the food gets a little repetitive get used to it find what you like and stick to it. I loved my time there, there were things that could have been better like making all the reservations on one day and not having to rush in the morning to get the place, informing us in advance so we don't find out last day, but all in all I loved it, but I'm not sure if I would go back because I like to always try out new resorts and after I have seen all I can make my favorites. For the recommendation, it depends on the person itself; if you have money to waste so you can flaunt how you go to only 4 star and plus, I obviously would not but if the friend just wants to get some sun, ocean, and Cuban music for the cheapest price: I would say; I'm coming with you when are we going? Beautiful place this was the second time staying here had an ocean view this time I really recommend oceaview it is amazing staff are very friendly and helpful food is good cannot wait to go back we love it here

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Excellent Value

I found the resort to be quite good. I've been there four times this year. The main reason I go there is the friendly staff. It felt more like a second home and visiting friends. The food had it's good days and then maybe average a couple of days out of the week. My room was clean and well kept. With the exception of the occasional absence of hot water and finding the main building too noisy early in the morning . ( 6am to 8am) I found it impossible to sleep past 7am. The grounds are well kept, with very nice paths for walking around the resort. It's a popular place with many repeat customers.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great time

Pool grounds people nice I would recommend for single people and family's the public beach is just down the stairs from pool and I felt safe and life guards were there to make me feel safe and welcome

Carisol los Corales: getting old

Staff here are wonderful but unfortunately seem to be trying to cope with management indifference. With the odd exception food is bland and unappealing. Rooms are still well kept but showing signs of age.

Starfish Varadero: You get what you pay for. Don't pay too much here

Its not a bad hotel but its old and run down.I have been there twice. The staff are great but they don't have much to work with if you want luxury its not for you but the beach is perfect and you won't starve if your OK with beans rice chicken pork and fish. Breakfast was always fairly good a lot of the bars were closed when we were there at the end of April and most of the guest were Cubans which I kinda enjoyed. They need to get rid or a bunch of cats! Hotel Caracol: More than I expected

This was my 5th visit to Santa Lucia but 1st stay at Amigo Caracol. I have a Cuban friend who worked at this hotel and recommend to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised, the check in went smooth and well organized. First impression was that the resort appeared more inimate than next door at Gran Club. Most staff I met were friendly and helpful as I was on my own and not framiliar with where everything was. My room was close to the to the gym facilities and was well appointed with a nice balcony view from 2nd floor. Housekeeping was excellent and I appreciated the attention to detail, as I am not the most tidy guy while on holiday. Dining room facility was well prepared and food selection was as expected. I am not the most adventrous when it comes to resort food but found my choices well prepared and plentiful. Coffee cup was always kept full and much appreciated in the morning because I always needed a wake up. Entertainment I cannot comment on to much as I was rarely in resort in the evenings but, the nights I stuck around it was lively and energetic even though the crowd was thin. Next visit will be at Brisas with some friends but would not hesitate to recommend and return.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Fantastic place to take my teenaged children!

Given, we were in the Bungalows, would go back tomorrow. Very comfortable and convenient to access the rest of the resort. Nightly entertainment was exceptional. Food was fantastic and the à la cartes were even better. Beach is gorgeous and services provided wonderfully.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: You will want to visit again

The hotel has nice views and beaches. The nightly entertainment was a highlight as was the returning visitor lobster dinner. The hotel area is nice during the day but a little noisy at night mainly due voice echos in the lobby areas.

Hotel Caracol: Warmth and Welcoming

A magical little spot with the best most welcoming people. Weather is warm, beach has lots to see. Pool bar is amazing with great fun staff. Always feel very safe. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Food is just fine, if people stop saying the food is awful they will realize it is actually good with lots of healthy choices. Bread is amazing, fish is wonderful. Haven't had a bad meal yet.

Hotel Caracol: Great Resort!

I have been going to this resort for the last four years, and I enjoy my stay there every time:) It is the best resort in the area. The staff are so friendly, and kind to everyone. keep up the great work!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: terrible

Grounds good. Dinning terrible. Service in any bar was bad. My room was floode twice when it rain. Cleaning staff were good. The seafood alla carte was closed. Did not have ingreadiants for bloody mary. Beer was warm

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: OK Spot

We ended up in the main building. Very noisy, rooms are in poor condition, they turn the hot water off at night, 11pm to 6am there's no hot water but they won't admit to doing it. I don't care if they do that, just really don't like being lied to about it. We arrived at 1am and couldn't get a shower. Food was ok, Cafes were pretty good. The beach was nice but a lot of garbage on it. Snorkeling was good. This was rated a 3 on the web sites we looked at but I would say it was a 2 at best. Some asp [... read more]ects a 1. Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: comfortable resort

Overall quite nice but public restrooms not very clean and at times without toilet paper. Check in service has improved recently but front desk staff are overworked, not enough people on duty. We were upgraded to villa section because bungalow section was closed at the time. Specialty restaurants are quite nice and with good service. Nightly entertainment was good.

Hotel Caracol: Great time, greater people!

Throughout our week vacation at Caracol we were continuously entertained and had the time of our lives. Caracol is a great place to to do just about anything! Already planning to go back! Cannot wait!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Not for the physically impaired!

I was travelling with my sister who has had knee replacement surgery and was waiting for a second knee replacement. This resort is very big with different sections. We were put in the "Barracks" which is very far from the main building and the older part of the resort. Rooms are small, smell of mold and the beds are old with springs sticking out! Ask for the Villas or the Bungalows. They are newer and cleaner.Luckily we were able to move to the main building for about 70 CUC. The rooms are very  [... read more]small and are not wheel chair friendly. There is an elevator for the 2nd floor of the main building where the buffet is located. There was always a good variety of food being served. We tried the different snack bars and buffets and they were mostly good. There are many stairs leading to a long beautiful beach where it is beautiful and one can have long walks. Our problem was getting to the beach. There are a lot of stairs going down from the main lobby and stairs going down from the pool area to the beach. It was hard to negotiate the stairs for anyone having problems with mobility. We did spend time at the quiet pool close to the snack place. The pool was clean and easy to get in and out. As for the other pools, one the water was green and the other was dirty with a lot of broken glass on the edge of the pool. We did not go to the "Barrack's" pool because it was too far to walk. The staff is friendly but not well organised. We were told they had 2 banks on the resort to convert our money to CUC's. In reality only one was opened and never at the time advised. The week we stayed there, one family was asked to leave the resort after a night at the disco. A young lady from Ontario called a man from Nova Scotia the N word and a fight started between the wife and the young lady. Only the family from Nova Scotia was asked to leave the resort. The management and the rep did not help them find alternative accommodations. Even the taxis on the resort were told by management not to drive this family anywhere. They had to walk quite far with their 2 infant children to the main road to flag a taxi at night. I found the management did not treat this fairly as they didn't ask the young lady from Ontario to leave. There is a huge outdoor market 5 minutes from the resort. The vendors change daily. There are beautiful souvenirs to be found there. If you book your stay at the Club Amigo Atlantico, ask for the villas or the Bungalows. Don't have high expectations and be very patient!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Friends

10- 12 times there not much reson to go else where.Great people ,friendly ,manors ,polite , family driven. The food is so so but there is always something you will like, the ice cream and the breaqd is better then here. The beach is great night or day , small reefs for snorcling. The rooms are simple , all I do is sleep and shower there , too much out side of the room to do. Its cheap try it , you will see why there are so many return guests.

Our family stayed at this resort March 19 - March 28, 2014, additional 2 days due to a storm in Nova Scotia. This was our ninth time to this location. Amazing staff who go out of there way to make the guest stay relaxing and enjoyable. Anna the head hostess @ the restaurant located in the Bungalow section is truly amazing. Constantly going out of her way to help with any need, above and beyond her responsibly. Always with a smile. We will be back for many years in the future.

My Fiance and I went here for the first time and I was expecting an Okay time , but it turned out to be my favorite trip of all. We stayed in the older part of the hotel and it wasn't a Five Star , needed some work , nothing major , but the friendliness and the Ambiance more than made up for it . We had the best time ever , there was more than enough to do with different restaurants , pools , bars , beautiful beaches and it was so laid back , some other places were just too busy and pressured.
