Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice resort but food quality needs work.

Everything was great except over 30 different visitors got sick from various restaurants on the resort. It's the 1st time in over 20 trips that I got sick from food, to lose 3 of 7 days sick on vacation is disappointing. If they could fix the food issues I would be a regular visitor. Staff, rooms and rest of amenities were great. I did report the issue to staff and they thanked me and said they would audit the food handling and services.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great resort but not for everyone

Resort had great food and amenities. Beaches are very nice and a great place for most people. Disappointed with the noise at night and the party atmosphere which wasn’t for everyone, especially when you have a nice swim out near the pool and it was too loud during the day and a few nights to sit outside and enjoy due to the music. The music choice was fine but volume was like a March break atmosphere. Not for us but everything else eas great

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Amazing resort!

We stayed at Secrets, Royal Beach- beautiful resort with excellent food. We most appreciated the super friendly and helpful staff. A great big "Thank you" to Dyanara whose attention made our stay that much nicer! We absolutely loved her "Let me help you" approach.... and always with a smile. We also want to thank Sammy and Junior. Also a thank you to the staff in the main buffet restaurant who were always helpful and smiling.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: A work in progress

The hotel has only been open since November so it needs time. Only some of the resort is open. The description suggest a newly remodelled resort but that isnt the case. Only two restaurants are open and one rather small pool for the number of guests. The staff is friendly but many dont speak English so be prepared to practise your Spanish. The location is spectacular. It sits on a cliff overrlooking the ocean on one side and the town of Samana on the other. If you go get an ocean view room. An [... read more]other issue is what I might call crowd control. Smokers are everywhere. They need to establish smoking areas and enforce them. The same goes for noise after midnight. The activites staff are entusiastic but everything around the pool activities is very loud. This is very much a resort for young people and there is no quiet area or pool to go to. In general I hope this resort makes it and in time they might get the resort completley finished and bring it up to a 4 or 5 star resort.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Nice resort

It met my expectations. The people who work there are excellent. The food was good, but the pizza area needs improvement; I think it needs more staff! The air conditioning needs to be improved in the rooms.

Very impressed The staff were so friendly and helpful particularly Dayanara our Butler She went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed The food was excellent with so much choice and beautifully presented Great beach with plenty of chairs and amazing service from keen servers

Hotel was clean. Recommend more food options in the alacart restaurants Like the tech advances the resort uses. Would like to see clarity on what services people can use in the sister resorts next door.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Family Vacation at New Year's

The overall resort is quite nice. The grounds are kept well. The pools are very nice, but can qet a bit noisy when the afternoon events start. The beach is quiet and very relaxing. The beach is in a bay so great for swimming and wading. There is very limited vendors on the beach so that was great. The dining options are pretty good and always could find something to eat. The a la carte restaurants were very good. The New Year's Gala was quite busy and then should have had at least one mo [... read more]re seating as they only offered two seatings. The staff was very attentive and a pleasure to deal with. They took good care us at all times. The rooms need an update. The overall experience was great and our family would go back again.

Grand Bavaro Princess: Very nice resort

The resort was well kept, rooms were clean and modern. Air conditioning worked very well. Beach was incredible! One interesting experience was the peacocks! They were everywhere and very tame and so beautiful. Pool was gorgeous. Only things that could be improved on are entertainment and having more golf carts to get around (however we were there at full capacity). Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Amazing resort

We had an amazing stay at Sunscape Coco Punta Cana and truly enjoyed every part of our vacation. The resort is beautiful, very clean, and well maintained. The staff were exceptional — friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with a smile, which made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was excellent, with a great variety of options at both the buffet and the à la carte restaurants. Everything was fresh and well prepared. Overall, it was an excellent experience and exceeded our expectations. We would absolutely recommend Sunscape Coco Punta Cana to friends and family and would happily return in the future.

JOIA Bavaro by Iberostar: Our favorite resort

We absolutely love this resort. I am mobility challenged and this place is totally accessible starting with the small size along with the elevators to upper floors. This year was our 3rd year in a row and we will be going back next year. We loved Manuella, Yelly, Smiley as well as the bar tenders Thomas in the lobby and Tobias at the pool. Our butlers (Daniel and Edward) were excellent and did everything to make our stay comfortable. Food was good, some meals were cold but mostly all were good.  [... read more]Beach was well kept since seaweed was rampant. Daily cleanup so not much of a problem. We had one of our suitcases damaged on route there and went to Air Transat customer service to report it but have not heard a word since. It has been 1 month so I guess they are blowing us off but suitcase cost $100+ and now has no wheels and large gash in the side. We will try to keep following up but are not feeling positive. Anyway this is the resort o go to. Although they say adults only I saw at least 4 or 5 kids under 18. So be aware.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Our home away from home

We have been to the VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort 3 times now and have grown to love it. It feels like our second home! The resort isn't oversized which is great for most travellers. It has a beautiful beach for those who love the sand and water - long walks on the beach are the best!! The main pool is a happening place during the day. There is a quiet pool and bar just a short walk away at another building on the property. The food options and quality at the buffet and the a la carte restaurant [... read more]s are wonderful. We love the staff, they go over and above to make you feel welcome, so much so, that some feel like family to us (Aquilino, Amable, Jose, David, Santa, Olvi, Solange and many more who we love catching up with and seeing when we visit)! The rooms are clean and we have never experienced any issues with water pressure or water temperature. Beds are comfortable. They have added some upgrades to the property over the past few years and are continually working to ensure the property is enhanced as they can. Oscar Lore and his staff deserve a standing ovation for their excellence in working hard to ensure our vacations are memorable for all the right reasons! We look forward to returning as soon as we can!

Playabachata Hotel: Friendly & Fun

The staff were very friendly, courteous & helpful. They are very hard working. The pool area and grounds were lovely and well kept. The rooms while clean are in dire need of upgrades. They still use a standard key lock system and the safes are cemented to the floor and rusted. Beds are hard and uncomfortable. The snack bar was a great feature for the kiddos and they loved the activities available. Also, one of their favourite things to do was to walk to the Senator for ice cream. Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Wonderful family vacation

Travelled here with a group of 10 family members ages ranging from 12 to 71 years old over Christmas. Wonderful family resort. Safe, clean and beautiful! Staff was excellent. Preferred club was definitely worth it. Water park was a great bonus. Food was average for all inclusive but everyone always found something to eat. Shout out to our Butler Osvalda.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great resort!

The hotel was clean, well maintained and kept. The staff work super hard, they are very friendly and always willing to help. There was a decent amount of food options if you don’t have dietary restrictions (e.g., meat or dairy). Because I have a meat and dairy allergy the food was very challenging for me. Although they had options for me to eat they did not separate veggie options from the meat or dairy products. This resulted in tongs being used in the dairy and meat products. Due to my allergi [... read more]es I had to avoid most dishes on the menu. When the chefs were available they would prepare something special for me in the kitchen which I was always grateful for. With so many allergies around it would be safer to separate certain products with the correct labels for guests.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort

I will keep it short and sweet, the resort was absolutely beautiful with amazing staff! The food was absolutely delicious and it seemed that there was attention to detail on everything that was served. The beach is awesome! Beautiful waters a legit mountain view. 10/10 will go again

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Wonderful experience but few things to fix

The hotel is nice, clean, well maintained in the outdoors, beach and pools are pretty good, chairs in the beach are available in good quantities, enjoyable place to stay. And the personnel was fantastic, front desk, doorbell, housekeeping, buffet service, all personnel was so kind. However, the hotel management needs to take care of few services, some rooms have the shower manifold inverted and the hot water is difficult to come out. Also, and this is critical, after 10:30pm there is not a sing [... read more]le option opened for food, this is a big issue, they need to create an option for food that last longer, it is not acceptable to have a food blackout from 10:30pm until next morning at 7:30am!!! Same for coffee and hot tea, they can set a coffee machine as the one around the hotel, in the lobby that works all fay around, or at least during the blackout period. Another big issue, the a la carte restaurants need to improve, it is not acceptable to wait 2hrs plus to eat in a restaurant that does not accept reservations, lack of personnel was evident, just 4 workers to attend all the floor, there was tables waiting to be set for more than an hour and a big group of customers waiting in the lobby to be sit inside.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Good resort

This is an older resort. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was minimal but as I said the rooms were clean. The grounds are very pretty, the beach is very nice and there was alot of seaweed on the beach when we were there over Christmas. The staff were friendly and service was basic but good. Tony in the restaurant is fantastic! It is a lower cost resort and that is reflected in the service. We had a great time at this resort. VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: A stay that escalated into a medical and ethical nightmare

I am writing this review at the request of Trip Central, following a catastrophic experience connected to my stay at VIK Arena Blanca in December 2025. What began as a long-saved, family vacation with my 4-year-old son ended in repeated hospitalizations, "ICU admission", and lasting health consequences. On the first plane ride over from Vancouver, I developed what appeared to be a minor insect bite. At the time, I believed it was not serious. On December 26, 2025, while already at the resort, [... read more] I purchased over USD $500 in excursions through Nexus Tours (including Monkeyland) because I reasonably believed the issue was insignificant and would not affect our vacation. That same morning, during a Nexus presentation required after booking through Trip Central / WestJet Vacations, I showed the infected bite to Alfredo, the Nexus tour guide who had sold me my excursions. Because of his affiliation with Canadian travel companies and the resort, I trusted his guidance when he directed me to the hotel’s on-site medical clinic. This decision proved to be devastating. At the hotel clinic, the doctor forcefully squeezed the bite despite my objections, worsening the inflammation. I was then told I needed to be sent by taxi to a nearby hospital and reassured that I would receive “a few hours of IV antibiotics” and be sent back so I could enjoy my vacation. That assurance was false. What followed was three days of hospital confinement, during which: I was repeatedly given IV antibiotics without appropriate diagnostic testing No wound culture was taken. I was told if I left against Hospiten bravaro advice I would owe thousands of dollars. I was told I could not leave unless I paid thousands USD by credit card I was warned that if I left, my insurance would not cover me. I was repeatedly told “you’ll be out soon,” while my stay was continuously extended I felt financially and medically trapped, with no advocate, while being told my treatment was at the hospital’s discretion. After being released back to the resort, my condition worsened dramatically. I became severely ill while in my hotel room with my young child. I was not completely alone only because another Canadian guest from Toronto, stepped in to help me. Thank God she was there. She assisted me during my illness and helped care for my child at moments when I was too unwell to do so myself. Without her presence, the situation could have been even more dangerous. Out of desperation, I returned to the hotel clinic, where immediately after having a blood pressure monitor attached to me I allegedly suffered a prolonged seizure despite having no neurological history. I was transported back to the same hospital and admitted to the ICU. During this ICU admission: I was separated from my 4-year-old child in a foreign country My child’s care depended on the kindness of someone I had only recently met I continued to deteriorate after excessive antibiotics Only after a doctor finally administered probiotics did I begin to improve Despite this, I was labeled with “late-onset epilepsy.” The hospital attempted to keep me admitted until January 5, 2026, but I was ultimately discharged on December 31, 2025. The representative from the Canadian consulate expressed concern that no one from the travel agency had alerted the Canadian consulate that I was admitted to hospital. Upon returning to Canada, I was taken to an emergency department, observed for several hours, and released, highlighting the stark contrast in proportionality of care. Why this concerns the resort and Canadian travelers This entire chain of events began with a hotel-affiliated medical referral. Resorts operating within systems that funnel insured tourists into external hospitals without safeguards, transparency, or advocacy should not ethically be aligned with Canadian travel companies. Based on conversations I had while hospitalized, I am not the first person this has happened to, and without change, I will not be the last. This is a serious public safety issue. My son never saw Monkeyland. My health and livelihood were deeply affected. What should have been a restorative vacation became a medical and emotional catastrophe. I am sharing this review so other families—especially parents traveling alone with children—understand the risks and can make informed decisions. Do not trust the resort clinic. I could have died.
