Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great time with our toddler!

Had a wonderful time at this resort! Kids pool and play area was awesome and kept our daughter entertained the entire time. More live music at night would have livened the lobby up a bit. Would book again for sure

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Family friendly fun

The grounds of the Coba and adjoining sister hotels are as stunning as they are expansive. The staff work tirelessly both inside in the buffet and other restaurants, shops and front desk, as well as outside ensuring all is well maintained. For families, the highlight for youngsters is hands down the water park from the moment the water turns on until the end of the day. The main buffet yields a variety of food choices, which though at times repetitive, is plentiful and well attended to. If you stay at Coba you know in advance you are not on the beach but a walk or short trolly ride away. Though further down the coast/from the airport then some, its distance to nearby sites such as our personal favourite Xel-Ha, make it worth the trip. The resort itself is largely populated by fellow Canadians or Brits making it a warmer home away from home and is very family friendly break after a cold Canadian winter.

our recent vacation at gran bahia principe tulum was wonderful..first of all i would have to say that we were so very well treated by our travel agent TanyaSmith from trip central. who worked so hard finding us a great resort.beach location and at the right price.. i had e-mailed tne manager directly from the resort and had requested that we were traveling 3 couples and we we like to have rooms i im the same villas if possible.. they quickly responded and said they could not promise but they wou [... read more]ld do there best to accommodate your request... on arrival .they immediately took our luggage and brought us over to the premier lobby and we registered quickly .Rene was so very pleasant and then we all found out that all three couples were indeed in the same villa and we were in rooms 33315.33316 and 33317...the employees and management we're excellent.the service level was awesome... the staff at the snack bar went far beyond our expectations...all in all .we were 3 happy couples...the beach area is rocky and this year there was lots of seaweed but its mother nature..they had staff working so very hard from sun rise to night... we could not help but feel bad for the workers...great vacation resort. would recommend..and can not understand how people can complain so much..so not fair.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Release those crocs!

Crocodiles on display had inadequate space and water habitat for quality of life. It pained me every day to see them in such conditions. My family consists of 3 adults but our third bed was inadequate for an adult. F & B were adequate. Thrilled to discover an espresso bar on the beach but were 4 days into our vacation already. Directory map was poorly done. Salt water pool was a long ride/walk & looked more like a cesspool...huge disappointment. Best efforts of crews to clear seaweed daily from  [... read more]the beach were futile. Resort is huge...long walks to get anywhere. Had a good time despite all of that. People were great. Will look for something more intimate next time.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Peaceful Retreat

The hotel was well laid out and very close to the beach. Rooms were sparse but with extremely comfortable beds. Food choices were plentiful and delicious. Drinks were premium quality and always served with a smile. The staff provided outstanding customer service and were eager to please. My only complaint is the evening entertainment was boring and needs improvement. Yoga and meditation on the beach is a delightful experience. Snorkelling is phenomenal and I highly recommmend it.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great Experience

The Staff were all very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend the water park next door, the Pirate ship with the wake/surf boarding, the private instruction was a great experience, and our instructor was excellent. Accommodations were decent with the exception of very hard pillows. Necessities such as Sunscreen and Neosporin in the gift shop were a rip off. i.e.: $47 US for a tube of sunscreen. The only other issue we had was that they didn't make it clear in the Japanese restaurant before th [... read more]ey poured it that they were charging us extra for the drink they offered us with our dinner, which ended up being almost $100 US (which we shared with another couple, who were probably charged the same as we were)

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Fantastic Resort

The food was amazing. Staff were attentive, and we couldn't have asked for better weather!!! The only negative was that it was a long drive from the airport to the resort, but still a great holiday experience overall

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Immaculate Resort - very clean

This hotel is great! Food was excellent, service was excellent, drinks were wonderful, lots of house wine to choose from! Wonderful, quiet, romantic escape. Grounds were very well kept. Beach is a little rocky but nice to be able to snorkel right off resort. Staff are very accommodating! Will adapt recipes if food dislikes or allergies. Italian restaurant was our favorite.

Hyatt Vivid Playa Del Carmen: great adult only resort

It is a great resort for adults only. The ground is well-kept and the workers work diligently to keep the beach clean. The permanent cabanas and personal drink services on the beach are some of the good features. The room is spacious even it is only a basic Junior suit with Jacuzzi and balcony. The choices of restaurants and food are very good. I would say good services all around.

Bel Air Collection Xpu-Ha Riviera Maya: it is very quite family resort

Pros- amazing room quality, own zoo, Snorkeling & kayak on site, good food, feels like jungle. Cons- No night life, no food after 10 pm ( you can get room service on extra cost), everything closed at midnight, Lack of entertainment activities. nothing on walking distance.

Riu Tequila: great time

Hotel was nice. Pool could be better but use if other facilities is a plus. The beach was amazing. The food was great lots of variety buy could use more variety in the drink menus. Entertainment and music very good to.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Almost a five star experience at El Dorado Seasde

Restaurant 5* - Portions were small so you had to order 4-5 courses however the food quality and service was excellent! Bar and Staff 5* - Never had to wait for a drink, service and quality of products excellent. Hotel Grounds and Pool 5* - nicely landscaped , clean and well maintained. Service and Friendliness 5* - all staff greeted you and stated our pleasure whenever they were asked for something and was very professional, well supervised. Hotel room 4*- Our room was a little tired, lamp shad [... read more]es were battered and torn, no electronic safe in room, room and washroom was poorly lit. Beach swimming 3.5 * - Yes there is seaweed however resort staff work tirelessly to rake it up each morning; and in my opinion there is no need for water shoes there are adequate places to enter the water in nice sand HOWEVER the water in the swimming area is less than waist deep and is a small area so for that reason the beach is lacking in my opinion. Overall we had a very nice stay at the El Dorado however the beach swimming area and our room could not be given a 5 * review.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Great Atmosphere

The grounds were amazing, loved the natural environment and all the animals running around. There was always lots of shade to be had even on the beach, and we didn't find the walking to be too much, we needed the exercise! However if you're tired, it's quite easy to catch a train or a golf cart to travel around. I loved the 4 resort system as it provided variety, but I would say by far Kantenah is the best especially when it came to the beach. Definitely book a Mayan Suite, they are beautiful an [... read more]d convenient. The only con was the food wasn't great... but not a deal breaker for me.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: The resort was nice and very clean

We thought the resort was quite nice, very well kept grounds, attractive, main pool was lovely with nice tree coverage,rooms were clean. Public areas and especially washrooms were well maintained.....

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Amazing Resort

This was our first trip South and staying at the Blue Bay Grande Esmerelda in Riviera Maya in Mexico was an AMAZING experience! LOVED the resort, pools, the activities and the food was EXCELLENT!!! I would HIGHLY recommend staying here and we can't wait to go back next year!!!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: beautiful resort

Enjoyed our stay at the Royalton Riviera. The room is exquisite, beds are comfortable, food excellent. I was disappointed with the weeds at the beach however we were told that this phenomenon was happening all over the Mayan Riviera! The pools make up for this if you don't mind hanging out there! There are still a few things to iron out as a new resort i.e. the time it takes to check was a 2.5 hour wait for us (after check in time at 3 p.m.). Staff are friendly. We tried phoning the front desk o [... read more]n several occasion but it kept on ringing and ringing. We simply walked there to obtain the service we needed. The only reason I don't give it a 5 start would be that the grounds are still very much in its infancy and there aren't much greenery or trees there; and is missing a bit of the Mexican feel... perhaps because it is very luxurious and modern looking!

Excellence Riviera Cancun: ERC - Beautiful Mexican Resort !

If you are looking for a beautiful resort with everything you expect in a luxury hotel, search no further. The Excellence Riviera Cancun delivered the wonderful experience we were looking for. A short 20 minute commute from Cancun airport and you're there. From the "welcome home" greeting upon arrival at ERC, to the hug good-bye from the entertainment staff, we loved this resort. We've been to Cuba, Dominican and Mexico before but this resort topped them all. The entire staff on this resort go o [... read more]ut of there way to ensure your stay is enjoyable and memorable. The resturants were all lovely with exceptional food and atmosphere. No reservations were required which we really appreciated. The daily and nightly entertainment was the best we've seen for resort entertainment. The live musical acts each day were exceptionally good. The Mexican Fiesta night was a highlight for the nightly entertainment. The resort grounds are extremely well kept and maintained with gorgeous flowers and schrubs wherever you look. If you like quiet areas to read, sunbathe or just relax in the shade away from the entertainment, there were plenty of spots along meandering pools around the resort. If you like music, entertainment and contests with plenty of action, there is lots of that too on the beach or at the pool bars. Our room was clean, inviting and had very comfortable beds. The large shower was wonderful. Our balcony was spacious with a chair and custom lounger. The fridge was well stocked each day with cold beer, water, juice and soda. The room also came stocked with wine, vodka, rum, tequilla, snacks. We stayed in Spa 3 on the third floor which gave us a great view of the resort and the sun rising each morning over the Carribean Sea. We enjoyed the resort activities very much. Archery, air rifle, beach volleyball and a bicycle ride to Puerto Morellos to name a few. We did a 1/2 day excursion to Playa del Carmen and shopped while we strolled 5th Avenue. The ERC is an outstanding value for this level of resort. We met many nice guests that were from Canada, United States, Britain and Scotland. We did not take advantage of the spa but heard many great reviews from other guests of the resort. We will definitely take advantage of the spa on our next visit to ERC.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Absolutely amazing!

Everything was perfect! Food was awesome and no shortage of it. We went to 2 a la carte restaurants and they were fabulous! Lots of little snack bars handy to everything. Rooms were great, could have used a mop on the floors though. Lots of trolleys to the beach & shopping. Loved loved loved it!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great Vacation at Royalton Riviera Cancun!!!!!!

Overview- we are a couple aged 30-33 and booked a 7 day stay in the main Royalton hotel in the standard room category: luxury junior suite. Check-In- we arrived at 12 Noon and were greeted with towels and champagne. Meet were escorted to the front desk and advised our room would be available at 1pm, given bracelets and went to look around. We were upgraded to an ocean view room. I would give the check-in process a 3/5 only because we were hounded the minute we left the front desk by someone off [... read more]ering to give us a "tour of the place" (aka and $200 worth of free vouchers to attend a breakfast meeting for the vacation club). Rooms- we loved our room- it had all the main amenities, slippers, mini fridge with beer, soda and water with chips (no juices). Free calling to Canada. 24 room service. I would give the room faculties a 4.5/5 Pools- they are plentiful but we could never find a chair, likely because it was so busy due to it being Easter break. The splash park pool for kids is amazing and (if I had kids) I would bring my kids here just for that feature!! Sadly, we decided to upgrade to a swim out at The Hideaway because we could never get a chair anywhere. We paid for the upgrade although we understand some guests continue to get free upgrades. I would give the pool facilities a 3/5 because at max capacity this resort was not able to accommodate all guests who paid to use these facilities. Security does checks and did remove belongings left unattended for over 45mins to ensure "reserved seats" could be used by the countless guests seeking a poolside lounger. Beach- soft sand, many chairs but only some with umbrellas but no beach palapas anywhere. There is a beach bar at the main area, one at the Diamond Club and one at The Hideaway. There is seaweed and this is a problem on the entire coast (which isn't a resort specific problem) but we aren't ocean swimmers so it didn't matter to us at all. Restaurants- the food was excellent. There is good variety in all the menus with casual and more formal dining options. All restaurants are exactly as described on the hotels website. We ate at every restaurant except Agave. I'd give the food 5/5!!! We thought the food was as good if not better (in variety, quality, presentation and overall taste) than Secrets Puerto Vallarta, Dreams Puerto Vallarta and Excellence Riviera Cancun. Hotel facilities- my absolute favourite thing about this resort was the endless options you had for relaxing- there were couches and sittings areas, poolside porch swings, seating by the coffee shop, at the different bars, indoor and outdoor areas......it was wonderful to have all these different seating places to relax (providing they weren't occupied). I loved the shops/casino area. I also loved the Mexican market evening on Mondays. The aesthetics of this property are gorgeous with detail to everything. The exterior driving up is not grandeur at all until you walk through the resort. Leaving to come home on our transfer bus you could hear other people say "wow! What's his place called? And look at that ocean view!!" I would rate the facilities 5/5. The only negative is the "single stall" public restrooms--these just aren't practical for the number of guests staying at this resort- many were always occupied and needed cleaning; often lineups. Bars- all the bars have top-shelf liquor, tons to pick from and some of them have drink menus including fun drinks for kids. I would give the quality, service and variety of bar options a 4.5/5. Housekeeping- this needs improvements- some days we had housekeeping and some days we didn't get it; we only had turn down service 2x out of our 7 day stay. They did clean the room well when they did come but sometimes the mini-bar guy forgot to leave coffee. I'd rate this area a 2/5. Room service- about a 35minute wait, food was always still very warm and delicious. However, every time I called I waited on hold forever so much that sometimes I'd hang up and call again. I rate this a 3/5 because it takes so long to get through. The Hideaway (adults only)- as mentioned before, we paid to upgrade for the last half of our vacation and had a swim-up room in the Hideway. I'll write another review under that after but I just want to say that this changed our holiday. Yes--the pool area was still busy and chairs were sparse but we didn't want a chair because we spent most of our time in the swim-up pool. It was sooo worth it and just made our vacation that much more awesome. If you are an adult couple wanting to relax poolside without the hassle of chair hunting at 8am (when you are trying to sleep in) than a swim-out room is a MUST! If anyone wants a criticism it's that the Hideaway is actually considered a separate resort (if you were booking in online)-- but all the other restaurants/bars and other facilities are for everyone including kids so be mindful that you are not staying exclusively in an adults only resort if you plan to use the other facilities of the Royalton. So the negatives!????-- 1. Vacation club hotel staff--we were constantly pestered by hotel staff offering us our $200 in vouchers if we came to a breakfast-- they are EVERYWHERE! There are concierge desk outside the elevator on every floor in the "family area" of the Royalton and we did not like being bothered all the time. We did not go and constantly said no. 2. Busy busy- it was Easter weekend and this resort was full. We couldn't get pool chairs by 8:30 everyday and I felt this was so unfortunate because everyone is a paying guest who should have equal opportunities to enjoy he facilities. I was ready to change hotels for the last part of our stay just so I could actually relax on a pool lounger but thankfully we upgraded to the other side and atleast had a a swim-out. There really isn't room for the hotel to get more chairs, it's already crowded--it just was a busy time of year and we were disappointed that we had to pay more money to essentially enjoy private pool facilities since the main ones we hoped to use were over crowded and the pools were jam packed (no floatie may relaxing unless you wanted a ball in the face). .................. Overall, we met some fun people, really loved the modern amenities of the resort and would return here if we book a swim out room preferably in The Hideaway. It will definitely be hard to find a resort that offers the amenities that Royalton Riviera did! We will Consider our next holiday possibly at this resort again or another Royalton property as we found our overall experience comparable to Dreams, Secrets and Excellence (although this place does not have the relaxed adults only intimacy of Excellence). Go for it, have fun and as their theme song says "live the Royalton life".

Grand Sunset Princess: Room for improvement

Let see the room was ok but had issues with the plumbing we had one tap that was very loose the other one would spray water on your face, the shower head was hanging down at a strange angle and was also very loose. The entire room felt dated and tired and when it rained water was leaking in from the ceiling! The bbq bar on the beach is a joke and needs a total remake, the beach and pools usually felt overcrowded and loud, we paid extra for the platinum room with the private pool and it was well  [... read more]worth the price even with the issues with the room.
