You need to be resourceful for meals in and a little creative win the one pot and one pan thT is supplied to you! Memories Jibacoa: relaxing, but the hotel is not for young couples.
We went on our honeymoon to re-coupe and enjoy the sunshine. The hotel is in good condition, clean and above what you would expect from Cuba. We enjoyed every aspect of our vacation EXCEPT......everybody there was either above 60, or didn't speak English. Although we enjoyed the resort through and through, it really would have been nice to meet other young honeymooners. We wanted to escape the spring break crowd as it is too loud and rowdy and would have ruined our vacation, but this was in the [... read more]
Club Kawama: Club Kawama
The resort may have been nice 20 years ago. Currently it is very run down. The furniture is over 20 years old, curtains on windows did not cover the window. The air conditioning in many of the rooms does not work; the room I was initially given AC didn't work. Had to get another room and wait approximately 3-5 hours for it. There was only 1 restaurant open, so very little choice for meals. Other restaurant that was open required reservations, and was not much better in terms of quality of food. [... read more]
Playa Caleta: You get what you pay for
This was my first time in Cuba and my first time at a resort. Half the staff were amazing. Especially Noel behind the bar. Tip that guy large. Most of the people behind the bar were awesome but that could've had something to do with how often we were tipping. The staff at the front desk were not so friendly. They couldn't be bothered and always made me feel like I was wasting their time. Things that were included in the package were almost always problematic to redeem for example the beach towel [... read more]
Punta Peninsula Varadero: Disappointing
Walked on beach twice and now home on antibiotics due to sand flies. No stopper for sink/ tub so mosquitoes kept getting in. Patio door did not lock (we were on ground level). Public bathrooms disgusting and if you go off resort, no toilet paper and most likely no toilet seats. People stand outside with 3 squares toilet paper to offer in exchange for a tip. Bedding old with holes. Appears blankets and drapes never cleaned, noticeable stains. Don't get the burger/fries at "the shack", raw meat al [... read more]
Memories Jibacoa: Beautiful Resort!
The scenery is amazing, the beach on one side and the mountains on another. The pool is absolutely beautiful. The food was pretty good, the rooms were spotless and cleaned everyday. The staff was exceptional! I would definitely recommend this resort to a friend and will definitely coming back to visit the resort again!
Hotel Los Cactus: Superclubs Breezes Varadero
This has been our fourth trip to Breezes Varadero since 1999. We have been to 19 other resorts across the caribbean but none have compared to this jem of a resort. The staff are fabulous and go out of there way to make sure your happy. The resort itself is so lush and beautiful, small enough to get anywhere you may want to go in just a few minutes. Sitting on the best section of beach in Varadero, what more could you ask for. We were very happy to see the ongoing upgrading like new beach and poo [... read more]
Resonance Blu Varadero: Memories Varadaro
We had a wonderful time. The hotel is very well run and the staff are all so friendly and work so hard to make sure you have a great time. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The beach is beautiful, with lots of lounge chairs, never had a problem finding a spot on the beach with shad. The food is good and there is something for everyone. If you have kids, bring ketchup! Japanese restaurant excellent! Lots to do. Make sure you ride the double decker bus into Varadaro, so fun and safe. catama [... read more]
Muthu Playa Varadero: Awesome trip!
The rooms, food, beach, pool area were spectacular. Some areas of the hotel look 'tired'. The hallways and parts of the lobby were in need of attention. But the rest of the resort was wonderful. Food was great especially the beach bbque. Staff were friendly and happy to please. We will go back.
Villa Tortuga: Clean, comfy beds, rooms kept up
ok so we loved the time we spent there, some little quirks such as fixing the toilet with black tape so it would flush, but who cares it was clean, comfy and no bugs!Hot and sunny everyday food was decent, and people where friendly, enjoyed myself, the beach is beautiful, we got what we paid for:)
Playa Caleta: Horrible Experience
This hotel is a 21/2 star definitely not a 31/2. It needs serious upgrading. The service was okay but not as good as it should have been, because the staff had little supplies to work with. Including toilet paper and dishes (plates, utensils, cups.) Some of the staff were frustrated because of complaints to this effect, however didn't have the physical means to help. The surrounding view absolutely beautiful, and the grounds just gorgeous and kept clean but everything else. Never Again. I have b [... read more]
Hotel Bella Costa: A better stay in Varadero - still the Cuba we like
Clean, comfortable and well maintained. I have been over 10 times to Varadero and find that this resort provides a atmosphere that is hospitable. The suite we stayed in was very wonderful. The food either at the restaurants or the buffet was really good. Staff were very helpful. Would recommend.
Roc Arenas Doradas: Fantastic Holiday!
We stayed at ROC Arenas Doradas March 13-20 and loved it. We have been to Cuba several times before and know what to expect from the food. We are there for the beach! Beach is amazing, did come home with sand flea bites although we never saw any. All staff were very friendly, humorous and helpful. Shows were great, resort was a perfect size, grounds very well maintained. Rooms are pretty basic but we are only in them to sleep anyway. Went into town twice and did the catamaran tour - a must, best [... read more]
Muthu Playa Varadero: Good resort with friendly staff!
Good resort with clean rooms and renovated bathrooms. A la carte restaurants were good and you could always find something to eat at the buffet. Beach BBQ is a must for lunch! Amazing pool and beach!!! The ocean was warm and we were always able to find chairs. Limited bars but great entertainment throughout the day and the evening shows were fantastic! Would not hesitate to return if the price was right. If your looking to be pampered and want everything perfect, keep looking. If you can overloo [... read more]
Club Tropical: Great Vaule
We went to this resort with low expectations, the reason we booked Club Tropical was the 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment worked out great, it was a bonus to be so close to the ocean, the beach at Club Tropical was one of the best I have been to in Varadero! The food was surprisingly good, we didn't go hungry. Most staff were pleasant. We would return again if the price was right!
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Excellent Resort
We traveled to Princess Del Mar Cuba March 19/2015 until 26/2015. We took my Mother-in-Law who is the early stages of Alzheimer's. We stayed in the Royal Service and could not be happier with our decision to stay at this resort. Everything was perfect. The grounds, pool area were very well kept. We never had a problem finding a place to sit around the pool or on the beach. The beach area is so close with very easy access. the beach area was fantastic. The service was second to none. Everyone was [... read more]
Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Very good to Excellent
Very nice resort. Clean. Amenities are good. Staff is amazing! We'd def go back. Food was ok. If you like omelettes, fresh fried fish, and salad you'll be happy. Great coffee shop. Beautiful beach front. Piano bar is a blast!
Hotel Los Cactus: Very quiet
Staff is awesome ...grounds are nice ...rooms are very outdated ...not much going on ...you have to entertain yourself ...If you want to go somewhere very quiet this is the place to go ....close to town ....across from the golf course ...
Playa Caleta: Great time will be back in October
Service was over the top. 24 hours of food and booze. Clean resort and the coffee bar was awesome. Night entertainment was good. No need to leave the resort to inflate your cost. Swim up bar was the best place to party or relax.
Punta Peninsula Varadero: If you like clean towels, then don't go here!
Beaches and water are great, nice and quiet at the east end of the beach. Food and drinks were not good. Stick to the canned beverages which are OK. Mixed drinks were very small and seemed a bit weak. This is a very long resort so lots of walking. Almost impossible to get reservations to restaurants after waiting about an hour in line with only 10 people in it. Need I go on? Bring as much of your own food and drinks as you can then just enjoy the beach with your music, books, magazines, videogam [... read more]
