Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Rooms need improvement

When we arrived, our room had NO toilet seat. There was no hot water. We found out that previous occupants had already complained about it to no effect. They left their note in the Resort magazine. We showed it to the staff. Repeated complaints finally produced the toilet seat and luke warm water.

Barcelo Solymar: Great Resort

The hotel is a little older, the rooms were clean and comfortable, Didn't enjoy all the smokers in the bars and lobby. should have to go outdoors to smoke. The beach was a 2 minute walk from the hotel .Best beach I've been on, water was warm. The food was not bad, better than what I've heard. Lot of things to do during the day. The staff were very friendly and considerate.

Melia Marina Varadero: Relaxing, fun, a good time!

We were pleased with the resort. Our room was very clean, and well kept. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The beach was beautiful and clean. The pool area was beautiful. Daily/nightly entertainment were excellent. The food was good, we especially enjoyed the inclusive a la cart restaurants. We would definitely visit this resort again. Wifi worked occasionally, and was NOT free :( This did not hinder our trip though, as it was nice to get away from the digital world for a week.

Roc Barlovento: Ok hotel - but had a good time

When you have stayed at really nice resorts the bar gets raised, and unfortunately every other vacation gets measured up against the best you've had. With that having been said, this resort didn't come to close to being one of the better ones , however we did in the end make the best of it and actually had pretty good time. Resonance Blu Varadero: nice resort

rooms were ok public bathroos were a total mess water etc on floors no seat covers major plumibimg prolems peplewere nice weather was nice beach was njce kind of windy at times but beautiful lots of great music

Barcelo Solymar: Fulfilled Expectations!

First time traveler. Quite happy with Solymar. Access to 2 resort amenities helps cover any deficiencies. Grounds were immaculate, able walk barefoot most of the time! Desk staff needs better English.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: very thankful we had good weather

location - good for touring around, very safe to walk around at night, beach - not so great for the beach as you have to walk across a street, no beer or toilet available at beach, the beach itself is fine but not enough chairs room - clean, nice bathroom, not very good bed dinner - red wine was only available at dinner one night of our entire week, totally unacceptable, food was pretty much ok pool - could use a good cleaning staff - most could use some customer service skills, how hard is it t [... read more]o smile? mgmt should watch their staff in action and they could see who makes it nice for guests and who just goes through the motions and who just shouldn't work with the public.... HOLA SUN rep was awful

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Check out the Piano Bar

Rooms and common areas were very clean and modern. Food at the a la cartes was excellent and it was nice that you could go to them as many nights as you wanted. Some people were not happy about the "first come first serve" at the a la cartes but we had no issue with it. The nightly entertainment was excellent especially the piano bar! We really enjoyed the snorkelling excursion offered by the water sports guides at the beach

Villa Tortuga: Small, clean and friendly

Villa Tortuga more than met my expectations for a 3-star in Cuba. I didn't quite know what to expect regarding the food/hot water/presence of toilet paper/towels, but was pleasantly surprised in all regards. The beach is gorgeous, the rooms are basic but very clean, the people were helpful and friendly (especially if you take the time to actually talk to them) and the food was WAY better than I feared it might be. Granted, if you're a very fussy eater, you might be in trouble, but that's true an [... read more]ywhere in Cuba. A couple of pieces of advice: 1. Try to get switched to a standard room on a top floor - the lower floors have a bit of a musty smell. 2. Bring a facecloth - we had lots of towels, but... 3. Book the a la carte restaurant - we went there twice and both menus were good. 4. Day trip to Havana was great through Air Transat. Awesome guide! I also loved the size of the resort - nothing is more than a minute or two away from your room, including the beach!!

Palma Real: Wonderful time, we will return!!!

I have been to Cuba 10 times this is the first time I came to this resort my husband and I were very pleased with it, it isn't on the beach but only a couple minute walk which I stayed at many resorts that have a couple minute walk that are advertised as on the beach. The food was great the location was excellent! Went on the jeep safari and locked it! Stayed in room 4127, very clean, pleasant housekeeper. Resonance Blu Varadero: Overall great facilities

Great week at Varadero. Pluses include wonderful beach, warm and helpful staff, good pools, and fun activities. Food was best at the restaurant close to the beach, but questionable at the main dining hall and at the Mexican and Italian restaurants -- cleanliness was dubious as well. Room was in great need of updating, while there were several things broken, the resort was quick to address the problems. Knowledgeable tour guide on our day trip to Havana. Resonance Blu Varadero: Decent resort

Compared to another resort I stayed at in cuba, memories resort seemed more outdated. The rooms were old, and the bathtub/shower was awful whatever you do (unless you like noise) do not get a room near the theatre--that's where they have their "disco" until 2am every night. The food was okay, very plain, not a lot of variety, but always lots of fresh fruits & veggies available. The beaches however were simply a-m-a-z-i-n-g. The entertainment was not very good at all, and found the staff weren't to engaging. Overall, I had an amazing vacation because of the beaches that being said, I don't think I would stay at memories again.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Fabulous beach

We had a fabulous time and would go back again. Pros: fabulous beach, great snorkelling right on the beach (bring your own gear though), loved the beach volleyball, peddle boats and kayaks, grounds were nicely kept and rooms were decent Cons: friendliness of staff was hit and miss, but no one was overtly rude, everything shut down at 6pm, including sports club (closed at 5pm), I would've liked to see some activities between 6 and 10pm, besides the lobby bar. You got 1 beer and 2 pop in your room, if you wanted to have a drink on the balcony and appeared frowned upon if you requested more. Beach towels were hard to come by, bring your own. Food was just okay, but I expected that. There was always something I liked and I probably felt better, because I didn't over eat. I still had a fabulous time and would go back, as long as you know what to expect, you'll have a great time.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Great time...so relaxing!

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely week at the Iberostar Tainos during March Break. The beach was stunning, with a fabulous pool area available as well. The rooms were very modest and simple, but always clean with an amusing little towel sculpture left behind to brighten our day. We stayed on the ground floor of a bungalow and our only complaint was that we could not leave the doors or windows open at night due to the lack of screens. (Although, there were very few bugs). The food was simple but  [... read more]good, and we always found something to enjoy. This is not a hotel for someone looking for marble, glitz, night life or luxury. It is a small, comfortable resort with some of the friendliest staff we have ever had the pleasure to meet.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Great entertainment

Lovely people in Cuba. The hotel offered quality entertainment every night at the 10 o'clock show. The staff in charge of daily entertainment such as dancing lessons, beach games and Spanish lessons were awesome! The hotel food was not fancy and very repetitive - I had a very hard time with the food. The rooms were pretty run down so don't expect much. Punta Peninsula Varadero: Would not recommend this resort

The room was damp and mouldy.no bedsheet on the bed for 2 days even after numerous request took 2 days to get a bar of soap The sand fleas were extremely bad we were eaten alive.to the point where the bites were so bad my wife's legs became infected. The service at the bar very bad you were totally ignored unless you wanted to tip for every drink. Definitely would not return Or recommend. enjoyed cuba but not this resort

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great butler service and very good food

Our butler was excellent, and most of the staff were really attentive. There were a few exceptions, hence the "good" category - I will be letting the management know about the exceptions. The resort is very attractive, and well-maintained, and the housekeeping was excellent. A lovely beach with powdery white sand. We went with the Diamond Club, and were very pleased with what we got for our money. Note to travelers - we chose this because it was supposed to be peaceful, so please don't bring you [... read more]r "tunes" to the beach - if you want to listen to music, put in ear-buds, as a consideration to your fellow guests, who want to hear the surf and the breeze, not your music. The food in the buffet is very good, and there is a wide variety, so you may not need to go to the "a la carte" restaurants. The seafood and Caribe restaurants were very good, and the beach restaurant was great on the day we went there, as they had grilled lobster - but they don't always have this. They do always have a terrific sunset, though.

Barcelo Solymar: Great Beach, Tired and Dirty hotel

Expected hotel to be dated , but it was in disrepair. It was also very dirty. Staff was amazing. Beach was fantastic. Hotel was 3 star at best NOT 4 star. Broken tiles and windows. Sharp nails exposed - all around there were dangerous elements as a result of non-maintenance. Expected cockroaches, but not as many as we encountered. Room was filled with them - 10+ per night and dining room had them around food - not great !

Starfish Jibacoa: Great beach

The beach is lovely, the bungalows basic but clean, the pool fairly clean and the resort close to Havana for day or evening trips. Beds were hard, we were glad we brought extra pillows, and the food was awful except at breakfast. Glad we took some of our own - would pack more next time. Spent a lot on tips, but they improved the service.

Club Karey: Great Place to Stay!

The hotel is clean, however, make sure you bring pillows, they only provide one per bed. The staff are helpful, amazing and super friendly. Beach front location it's wonderful! The food, the pool, the activities, all made for an amazing holiday. Close to markets and great sites to see.
