Riu Republica: Nice Option on Bavaro Beach

The Riu Repúblic was a well maintained property with easy access to many pools/slides and Bavaro Beach. The rooms were clean and insect free. Hot water for showers was always there. Restaurants were decent and a nice change to the buffet that was adequate but lacked some citrus fruits (0ranges & Grapefruit) as well as real OJ. The Jerk Chicken bar located on the way to the beach was a nice option for lunch. The beach waters were rough but the waves added some fun in the sun. Outside of a few members of our group getting stomach illness and headaches etc... the overall experience was positive but the resort was definitely not a 5*.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: The staff were amazing

The staff and food made up for the week of rain everyday. The restaurants were the best that I have ever been to in an all inclusive resort.The only complaint is that there are not enough chairs nor umbrellas.You basically had to come down at 5:30AM To get a chair with an umbrella and stay there or your towel or blanket like mine were stolen. People would save chairs early in the morning but would not come down until 1:00PM.So not fair for the older people who are unable to stay out in the sun a [... read more]ll day. Blau Natura Park Resort: Resort - Blau Natura Park Resort

The grounds were kept nice and clean. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great. It was very windy and rained almost every day. (No fault of the resort). The beach area was littered with seaweed on the shore. My biggest complaint would be the vendors on the beach, they kept walking back and forth trying to sell their items, it became very annoying. I was approached inside and outside the hotel by people wanting to sell me an excursion which I wasn’t interested in. At times they were a [... read more]ggressive in their sales pitch, I just wanted to relax at the resort, I didn’t want to leave the resort or spend any additional money. The food was good, the drinks were good and the room was nice. The housekeeping staff cleaned the room daily and replenished the mini fridge.

Puerto Plata Village: Nice hotel

The hotel is a little out dated but honestly that's all I can complain about. The buffet food was a bit boring but it was okay. The snack bar was good! Loved the pizza and the burgers.The hotel staff were great and our room was clean. Bring your own beach towels though because they don't have many availible.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Excellent Resort

This resort was very nice in every way. The food was delicious, staff very friendly and very clean. The only improvement would maybe the entertainment on some nights. I would recommend this resort to family and friends.

Sunscape Dominican Beach: great except pushy timeshare people

the hotel was clean, staff very friendly, eager to make you happy except one bartender (male) at flip flops. seems like a smile would have killed him. it was a battle to find pool chairs on a daily basis, the beach was too windy to sit at so everyone at pools. some of the staff were willing and able to help find chairs for you , others laughed at the request and kept walking. rooms clean, maid service exceptional . you are greeted as soon as you check in by your "personal concierge"  [... read more]who will help you with anything you need and is there for you .... until you say no to buying a timeshare (they insist it is not a time share but we sat through a presentation and it is!). as soon as we said we would not be buying in, our personal conceirge was suddenly unavailable.. for any reason. timeshare salespeople and managers abruptly stood up and stormed out of the conversation. entertainment staff were fabulous! great nicknames too! food was good. on buffet lukewarm unless you were at the grills.... a la cartes good food but be first ones there on opening or last ones there. expect at least an hour wait in between those times to be seated as there is a no reservation policy for a la carte. they may want to revisit that policy. we would stay here again though, knowing what we know now. 1. pushy time share people to be ignored. 2. get pool chairs by 630am. 3. dont go to a la cartes already hungry.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice Time!!!

Ground very tidy and clean Very nice rooms Could have used more of an assortment of food at the buffet The Braziliion A La Carte was fantastic Entertainment staff was very good. Thanks Mini Me for the great memories Ran out of hot water frequently

Occidental Punta Cana: Wonderful

Great stay at the Occidental Punta Cana. Food was very good and varied. Nice a la carte restaurants. Beach is beautiful. Property well maintained and clean. Only negative room not ready for check-in.

Bahia Principe Grand Samana Roulette: Great time!!!

First of all when you arrive to this resort you are welcomed by the staff dancing and given a welcome drink which is a nice touch and you definitely feel welcomed. The views surrounding resort is stunning of Samana Bay and town. The staff are amazing on this resort. So efficient and friendly and hardworking. Can't say enough about them. They truly made our trip. The resort itself is beautiful. Very clean and pretty. The food and drinks were great. Big selection and very tasty. The only negative  [... read more]thing about resort is the beach. Very small and Stoney, not soft sand and the ocean is brown. Not the typical turquoise water we are use to seeing in the Caribbean. So because of this you can't really snorkel. Don't see any fish. As well because the resort is on a cliff, anywhere you need to go has many stairs. There is an elevator to beach which is nice but to get down to the restaurant that is open when buffet isn't, it's 150 plus stairs down. There are little golf carts that they can take u down but very few far between to get one. Besides these couple things the resort was fantastic. We really did have a great time!!!!

Excellence Punta Cana: You won't be disappointed!

We have been to the Excellence hotels in Mexico 5 times and thought around try something new and this place did not disappoint us! Be Live Experience Hamaca Garden: Overall a good hotel

My week long experience at the Hamaca was satisfactory. I can't rave too much of it as I did not fully use all of what it had to offer..such as the a la carte restaurants, VIP services, etc. I only stayed there because there were no more deals available that week at some other 3 star hotel nearby. My only beef really was a leaky toilet that also took a long time for the water tank to refill. I would also say that my room seemed more like of a 3 star quality, but since it was only a garden ro [... read more]om, maybe that's why...though at least I had a nice view of the pool grounds. I know that this hotel seems to have it's share of very negative reviews, which I had read before booking myself there, but my overall experience that week was not bad at all, from my perspective. So on that note, and for the price I got for it, yes I would return.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Terrific resort

Just returned from Be Live Marien in Puerto Plata. Had a wonderful week there, although lots of rain but nothing can be done about that. The hotel was great, rooms very clean, staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, no need to try reserve a sun lounger at the beach or hotel pool , plenty of chairs no matter what time of day. The food was plentiful and had lots of flavour, with lots of choices. Evening shows were excellent too I would defiantly go back to this hotel, I had such a w [... read more]onderful time. Also a special mention to Robyn Murray at tripcentral, this was a very last minute trip for me. Robyn assisted me with top quality and speedy service. Thank you Robyn.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Nice Resort

Staff was friendly, resort was clean, food was amazing. Only downfall for this is it is far from everything except Ocean world. Very expensive to take taxi. Not much to do on resort itself and beach was only so so. No chairs on beach area. Alot of stairs to get beach. Not much walking space to walk along beach side. They only stock the fridge once a week. no refill of pop or beer.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Very good resort; you will get your money's worth.

Grounds well maintained, good service by staff, good selection of food. Rooms could use little face lift (i.e. painting, some updated furniture). Ocean Blue and Sand: Highly Recommend This Place

Clean, beautiful resort with helpful, friendly and happy staff. Too bad the bank machine didn't work all week. I would have tipped more if I had cash in my pocket. The beach is fantastic, the water warm. Walked for miles past other resorts on pure white sand. Some people should rethink their decisions to wear string bikinis though.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Mix Bag

Well, Not only did I have to pay the single supplemental, so I paid extra with no views of the ocean or pool: - broken handle on my luggage upon arrival in Punta Cana complete with dented suitcase - I arrive to my room only to have someone in my room taking a shower - Over an hour later I check in my room, the locker did not have any slot for card - Called front desk and they sent someone to look at it since their was no instructions on how to reprogram the locker. Staff tried and could n [... read more]ot open safe - Staff called another individual who dismantled the lock from the wall only to find out that the batteries are dead. He then left and returned with new batteries. - He left than no electricity, no one told me that I had to put my card in - So far wasted over 3 hours - I paid extra for my seat which should of included a bottle of premium Rum ....... Never received! - The ceiling fan stopped working on the third night, called front desk and they fixed it the next day. - I tipped very well, room was clean, but maid never refilled my fridge with beer for 2 days and coffee for 1. I called front desk and it was resolved. - The signage to get to my room was brutal, kept on getting lost the first few days. - For the +2k I paid I expected a better bed. The sheets were not clean every day, I had to put money around the stain that was on my sheets in order to get it cleaned - Aside from the alacarte food (Mexican & Japanese were great) the rest of the food especially lunch was disgusting. -We took the buggy and catamaran toors which cost me $218 in total since I was single but I was with a group of 14 which 8 of us went on the tours - The buggies/cart on the brochure were "Razors" and new ..... what we ended up on were piece of crap 1980 odyssey..... Rip Off - The catamaran ..... what a joke .... it was a double deck boat with a glass bottom. A catamaran is a sail boat! False advertising again - The people were mostly Nice, the waiters, bartenders were all extremely friendly! But that's because I tipped them well - The travelling on the golf cart/bus was atrocious, Dinner in the back, lunch in the front, clubs in the back etc... I spent at least 1/3 of my time travelling. Waiting sometimes 20 to 30 minutes especially at night. - I would of like to visit Esmeralda, Ambar Blue and green, but not allowed even though I was told prior to the vacation that I could tour those resorts, but to no avail. - Huge cockroaches in my room the last 2 nights, I thought it was because I was on the ground floor, but my friend had some on the second floor in his building. - This trip cost me over 3K since I was single and I don't think the value was even close - Beautiful beach, minus the hook worms, beautiful people, I wish the club played a little more English music - Night Club smelled like ass complete with sticky floors

The resort is very secure with guards, beautiful room with balcony, lots of dressers, buffet staff very friendly and food fabulous. Brazilian a la carte a must to go (book immediately) ..skewers of ribs, prime rib, chicken, turkey..yum! VIP BEACH is lovely with plenty of canopy beds, sushi bar, 4 jacuzzi's, snack bar and free wi-fi there only. There are steps so you'll get your exercise. Beach is small and wavy. Buy your souvenirs at last and 2nd last when you walk left on beach- good deals  [... read more]and get your excursions there too..cheaper than hotel cost..but look on expedia.ca and book excursion before you travel. cheaper. Animation team was fabulous and full of energy and made you smile. Many pools to choose from but get a lounger for when there is the FOAM or COCONUT party at Tropical. Shows at the Confesi were very good. Try to see Michael Jackson show Fri. night. It rained every day Feb. 6-13 so shows that were to be at the Colosseum on Tropical were transferred to Confesi. shuttles came quick or a 5 min walk. VIP party at the Dome by Ocean World is a MUST..Dancing, drinking, singing, robots, amazing costumes, then show on upper level..like Los Vegas..then afterwards more dancing, drinking..a great night. I would definitely go back. Bring an umbrella to be safe. Thanks Melvin Ventura for making my trip more special.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: We truly love this resort!

The grounds and facilities are extreme clean. The employee service at all restaurants, buffets and bars are consistently excellent. The quality of food is supremely great!!! The rooms are cleaned very well each day with fresh new linen. We've been here 6 times, and we don't have a "time share" with them. Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: A week in Paradise

All the grounds, rooms and public areas are clean and well-maintained. Rooms are spacious, but the bed is hard enough to cause discomfort. Although the selection at the buffet was good, we only found it to be just okay and in fact found the meat consistently overcooked. Entertainment - the big shows were hokey, repetitive, and downright annoying. We love live music, and the best came by way of the duo that performed before the shows.
