Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Great family resort

We just returned from seven days with our three children, ages 2,4 &6. This resort had more than enough to keep our children occupied, three great pools, snorkelling right off the beach and the lazy river. The resort is large but once you get your bearings, it is easy to navigate plus there is the occasional trolley/golf cart that will drive you. The dolphinarium was an incredible experience. The only downfall about this was that the pictures were ridiculously expensive and the staff did their very best to block you from taking your own pictures. The food was fantastic, by all inclusive standards. My husband and kids ate everything that was offered and although I tend to stay on the safe side I did not find the food repetitive. The entertainment during the day was fun, and also great for the kids. The nighttime entertainment was at 9:30 and a bit too late for our kids. There is a beach party on Saturday night that is worth keeping them up for. There is dancing, pass the sombrero, a limbo contest and of course a fire show. My kids really enjoyed this, so did we! Definitely worth going to.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Very good resort

Overall the pool grounds restaurants were clean an beautiful beach was with seaweed but otherwise very good, buffets at lunch breakfast were very satisfying an at dunner plenty of good food, lots of pool entertainment which was fabulous

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: family friendly

I really enjoyed my stay right from the start the lobby was beautiful the rooms are very well done loved hearing the birds in the morning when the Sun rose.the activities for kids and adults we're very entertaining over all l would definitely stay here again

Grand Velas Riviera Maya: top-notch Resort!

Grand Velas was above and beyond 5 star in every way! The food was world class, the facilities were impeccable, the service was outstanding. The beach was clean and wide and we always had a spot to sit that was not crowded. As an alternative, the pools were gorgeous and well maintained. Overall, it would be difficult to find fault with Grand Velas!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Our best family vacation yet!

This was our third vacation at the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort. The grounds are immaculate and the food is fantastic. The rooms are very clean and everything in the resort is very well maintained. The staff is always working very hard (painting, gardening, cleaning). The pools are huge and there are several. The beach is beautiful although several people complain that it's rocky, you can always find a sandy spot. The Kyoto cooking show was a highlight for our family. We had a pool & ocean view and a great central location. The trip from the airport is about 90 minutes but it's fun to check out the scenery. We love the fact that this resort is so large - you have lots of options for swimming and eating and there is always something to do. We would all love to return - you can't beat this resort!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: No beach

If you are a beach and ocean person this is not the resort for you. Pools large but very little shade. Food good...no issues. Staff friendly . Black and white bar very noisy in the evening. No lobby bar. Rooms basic,beds comfortable but noise echoes in halls so bring ear plugs for sleeping. We did smell a horrible raw sewage smell outside the lobby on the morning we were leaving. Not one of my favorite resorts in the mayan.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Good resort, but has issues

Had many problems with our door locks on the first day and had to repeatedly go back to front desk. Had difficulties with reservations for the two restaurants that required them, and restaurant service in the sit-down restaurants was incredibly slow. Also - if you have young kids, ask not to be in the corner of Building 1 right next to where the nightly show happens.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing Resort

We had a wonderful time!! The food was Great, the resort is really nice, clean and staff are friendly and helpful. Beware if you are going to golf. The golf cart is a mandatory $100.00 per person, so the free golf included actually costs $200.00 per couple each time.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great Resort

The Barcelo really has something for everyone. The food is good, beach is decent for Mexico and cleanliness is impecable. The staff went out of their way to give us a pleasant stay - helping celebrate a birthday. Some difficulty getting our rooms right - hotel was full, but rectified for 2nd day.

Grand Sunset Princess: Amazing resort

This resort is beatiful clean modern and fun the buffet restaurants are really good,people are very friendly and profesional. We had a beautiful vacations at the resort. I was with my family at family club area the best !

Catalonia Yucatan: Good value!

This was a "last minute vacation" decision and we selected the Catalonia Yucatan Resort and Spa as our destination. We did not do this arbitrarily but through our own selection process with price point being one of the main criteria, we assessed approximately 8 other destinations, the majority in Mexico as we had not visited there previously. We vetted our selection through a Trip Central representative in Hamilton and she supported our decision having been in the Mayan Riviera just a few months [... read more] prior and followed up with some recommendations for our trip. We were not disappointed, the Catalonia is a medium sized, nicely designed resort. We had a standard garden view room, which was fine. Our room was clean and the minor difficulty with the in room refrigerator was addressed by the maintenance staff about 20 minutes after we contacted the front desk. We visited 3 of the 4 a la carte restaurants and the dining experience in each case was great. Our favorite was the Japanese restaurant. There are many activities on the resort to keep guests engaged and entertained including pool side activities like aqua fit and salsa, as well as live theatre and night beach parties. In addition, we did two off site tours and some shopping in Playa del Carmen, all quite enjoyable. The only minor drawback is the immediate beach area, the rocky bottom which makes it uncomfortable for wading. Water slippers make it easier on the feet. There are other areas on the grounds where one can still wade, swim and snorkel that are not as hard on the feet. The staff was attentive and helpful throughout our trip. All in all, an enjoyable and memorable time for a reasonable price.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Nice Resort

Beautiful Resort. Everything great once you are in your room. Had an "odd" greeting where a resort rep kinda toured you around, we stopped for a drink and then they hit you with the meeting/timeshare meeting/voucher. Uncool for a high end resort. All else is amazing.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Excellent Resort

Beautifully landscaped, clean, lovely rooms. Just big enough to have lots of restaurants, things to do but not feel crowded. Only issue is the beach. Lots of seaweed even though attempts to clean it up. The pools and service more than make up for it though.

Dreams Riviera Cancun: Beautiful retreat!

The dreams was well kept, beautiful rooms. Cleaning staff was spotted regularly throughout the hotel. Staff was lovely. Beach was gorgeous, however there was a lot of seaweed even though the staff tried to keep up with it. Food was very good, in all the restaurants a lot of variety. Kids club was fabulous.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites: Excellent family resort

This is a great resort for families with children. Two different kids pools, wave pool, ice cream bar, lazy river and play ground. The food was incredible and a good variety of vegetables, fish, meat and cheese. The home made bread and deserts are incredible.

Ocean Coral by H10: Enjoyable Time

The hotel grounds and pool were really good. The room service was pretty reliable and we got new towels and a stocked fridge daily. The only downside was that you couldn't make reservations for a la carte restaurants. This lead to long line-ups for dinner, which made planning daily activities difficult. The beach was mediocre and difficult to find a spot to sit

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Wonderful place

We loved the resort, the food ,staff ,pools ,grounds were so great and we just loved the Blue Bay.we found the staff so friendly and so willing to help. The grounds are very well kept ,food was amazing,everything so clean.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Immaculate resort

The grounds were immaculate, the food was great, the service exceptional, other than the weeds (which is out of the hotel's hand), we enjoyed ourselves. Lots of room on the beach, and oh I forget, Beachfront room thanks To Stephanie at Trip Central.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Great Family Resort

Great beach, great entertainment and activities, great kids club and in general great facilities for kids, the concierge service is excellent, decent gym, lots of restaurants, good tequila, but you have to order it by name, it is great that you can reserve a la carte restaurants every night since other resorts limit these options, great location close to Cancun airport. On the "opportunities for improvement side": there are no baby changing stations in most male bathrooms, no automatic accesible [... read more] doors on bars, bathrooms and other facilities. Also when buying the package it was not clear to me that this is part of a 5 hotels complex and that I had access to some stuff, but not to some other stuff, the hot tubs outside are not heated, which is a minus when temperatures are in the low 20's ºC

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Just what we needed this awful winter!

The resort was like a healing retreat for all who beaten senseless by mean Canadian winters. Big, beautiful buildings, open to the amazing jungle, monkeys and parrots as available to see as waiters with drinks. Staff was over the top kind and polite and happy (be sure to tip - embarrassingly some tourists think they should be waited on hand and foot - the gratitude for a 20 or 50 peso tip always brings good service and a happy relationship - just saying).
