Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY

there SHOULD BE A RATING HIGHER THEN 5 FOR THIS RESORT. It is exceptional in grandeur, cleanliness, genuinely friendly and helpful staff. The beach is spectacular. The buffet restaurant is outstanding. It far outpaced my expectations. Champagne is offered at breakfast and otherwise. That sums it up....definitely a champagne experience. The only thing I would have preferred would be deeper swimming pools.

Hotel Acuazul: Clean Hotel

It is old Hotel, Needs some maintenance, toilet seats are broken or missing, the tub is rusty, broken tile some places, no cockroaches or ants, beds clean and comfy, The food is edible not that great, the location is good, 500 feet to shore and sandy beach, when you are in Cuba, you should not expect much, like here in Toronto,so do not compare,

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Good resort

not enough washrooms situated through out the property,and some that are there did not have toilet seats.great location on the peninsula,nice constant warm breeze.very clean resort,hard working people.

Palma Real: a nice resort

it was ok rooms clean, property clean, food ok, staff very nice en other visitors very nice beach was fantastic en had boats to use there was night entertainment that was good weather great rained only once for like 1/2 hr

Hotel Los Cactus: Great resort !!

We had a great time, staff was super nice and food was good I mean some things weren't that great but its cuba so we didn't go there with high food expectations! midnight buffet wasn't good wish they had better options! Beach was beautiful and big! Quiet resort if you're looking for the young party crowd this isn't the resort for you the age group seems to be 40+ which I mean wasn't bad because it was a peaceful sleep & the hot tub by the bar was always free in the evening! no discoteca on resor [... read more]t for that reason I'm assuming. Prices for their excursions were reasonable had an amazing time on all of those! Going back in 2016 to this resort too!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Resort was fantastic

Beautifull resort, immaculate, so friendly. The grounds are beautifull and well kepted. We were so impressed and will want to go back. The food was good. So many choices from Buffet to a la carte. Perfect Ambience. The beach wow! And it is right there, one minute away. We are so happy with the whole trip. There is even a Rep. in the main lobby every day if needed. Felt very safe. Muthu Playa Varadero: its ok if you get a cheap deal

hotel is ok. food sucks. no water except on the first day for on bottle you have to buy after. Rooms towel was not changed unless you left a tip with a note. Drinks is ok the hid all the good stuff. Staff was friendly when its a woman. will not go back. disco sucks go off the resort

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Not 5*

Definitely not worth a five star rating. We complained about our room and were upgraded but even then there were problems. The management tried to sort out various problems but were overwhelmed. Everyone we talked to had a litany of unresolved complaints. No towels, no maid service, no power, plugged showers, illness and this all occurred in the "privilege " section. Resonance Blu Varadero: Odd glitches and great people...

This two-week vacation in March reminded me of Cuba vacations of about fifteen years ago-- all kinds of infrastructure issues coupled with great staff and hospitality. It's not surprising as this is a very old hotel, one of the first built on the peninsula, still in a state of transition since Memories took it over. It is a huge complex with many colonial-style small three-story buildings scattered over a huge property. The best thing about this vacation was the staff. They were universally plea [... read more]sant and helpful, except when circumstances beyond their control made that difficult, such as when the limited phone infrastructure often prevented us from calling home. Our room attendant, wait staff and the front desk staff were all great. Rooms vary in quality, not necessarily related to price. We travelled with another couple and, although we booked at the same time, paid the same, and both asked for a room with a king-sized bedI, one couple got what was asked for, while the other got two 3/4 beds and a cot, although we had no children with us. It was acceptable, although there was no plug for either the tub or sink (luckily I had brought my own) and the expanse of beds meant little space.. The public space washrooms were a huge problem with missing toilet seats, broken taps, etc, although immaculately clean most of the time. There are many options to choose from for dining and the quality of food was good.. The buffet was huge and noisy, but we had paid for Diamond Club and so had a small air-conditioned (sometimes) room off the main hall. The a la cartes served good stuff but selections were limited. (can you call it an a la carte when there is only one menu option?) The Japanese was out favorite and the Romano evening was fun. We had breakfast or lunch many times at the little snack bars at one or other of the pools. The beach is the usual Varadero perfection and Diamond Club meant we had a separate section with waiter service. The beach was miles from our rooms and the golf cart service was intermittent and unreliable. We liked the "Quiet Pool". No blaring music and close to our room. The other pool has aerobics, loud music, dance lessons, games and a water slide. Enough said. We had a good time.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Reasonable for the price

Location. Awesome, fantastic beach and water. Short ride to the airport Rooms. Good size. Needs a coat of paint. Only 1 small towel provided in the room, not changed daily. The smell of smoke in the rooms comes from the bedding. The housekeeping staff smoke in the room where the clean laundry is kept. This needs to change! Food. Good selection, could always find something to eat. A La Carte restaurants available, not a big choice at them but food good. Drinks. lots of choice of liquor, but no bl [... read more]ender drinks, only slushies with alcohol in them. Staff. Friendly, good to deal with. Helpful when you had any issues. Shared facilities with Solymar next door. This give the resort more amenities. Solymar side is where the entertainment activities during the day happen. Also geared more towards party crowd. This leave the Arenas the quieter side of the resort Gym. Old poor facilities, equipment in need of replacement. Overall for the price paid and with the expectations of a resort in Cuba, it was good value. With a few upgrades this could be a great place.

Roc Barlovento: had good time 10 night stay

grounds, pool very nice and kept clean, beach amazing spent most time there. food fair, we ate out often as walking distance to restaurants, rooms very standard we had renovated room, deck very small could not sit out on deck which was a negative room 247 quiet facing gardens which was bonus. Staff friendly, Cuban people very nice and felt very safe out at night. Drinks w/alcohol pretty good, got tired of pina coladas, and other frozen drinks. Next year going back to Mayan Riviera MX and pay extra for better food, drinks, wine etc. the Cuban peso exchanging our Canadian $ was 30% and 40% at hotel plus need to save $25 peso each to leave country. So we will pay extra and travel to 5 star resort MX .... Will we return to Cuba? Yes most likely but try Holigun or another area of Cuba.

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Good value

Room was basic, but clean, lots of mosquitos. The air conditioner was either cold or off, no in between. The fridge froze everything you put in it. One bottle of water, you have to refill at the bar daily. No hair dryer. No light out side our room, but there was security at our building, we stayed in the Economy section so we had a walk up the street to the resort. The food was good and lots of variety, dining room staff were friendly. All staff were friendly and very accommodating. There were not enough beach or pool lounge chairs :-(. The resort was very clean, the staff work very hard to please. We stayed 10 days and had a great time, the pool, beach and bars are very close by. There is a beach snack bar, the food there was good to. Good value for the money, plus you are right downtown so no need for cabs, you can walk anywhere you want to go.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Ok, but easily better, give it a 3.5

Grounds...very nice. Excellent actually..Check out how the gardener can make a hot from a Coconut leaf..amazing..One thing that bothered me was a boardwalk where a few of the slats were broken, worn out..very dangerous... Pools excellent. main pool very noisy, young party crowd..Thats ok, just went to another pool..they were all excellent except pool #2 ..too far to get beer/drinks. Food, Most meats were over cooked....tough. If I ate chicken everyday, it would have been fine. I think it is th [... read more]eir specialty. Breakfasts were good, orange juice bitter until I mixed it mango juice. I stayed away from the rubbery french toast and pancakes..The syrup was not very good too. Also had to take my families bacon to the omelet making guy and get it cooked all the way. I suggest you do that too.. Lack of fresh salads at buffet..Had to go to a salad making guy...didnt make sense. Went to Spanish restaurant...terrible Went to Italian....quite good. Spaghetti had a chili con carne taste..I liked it. Lasagna...quite good. Service was terrible in all ala carte restaurants except for the BBQ. Went to seafood...terrible...Lobster was like rubber. once again, fish overcooked. Went to BBQ restaurant..Fantastic..wish I would have eaten there every night.I strongly suggest you book the BBQ at least 3 nights and forget the seafood and the spanish... Pizza was ok.. Rooms were good, maid service hot and cold. We were travelling with another couple and had 3 rooms...2 rooms were in Block 23 and the other in Block 11. I am not kidding, 1/2 km apart. had to use shuttle cart to visit them. I asked that they get us closer together and they did after 2 nights. Washrooms away from the room, like in lobby, and beside towel dispensory etc..terrible...no maintenance, no toilet seats, no paper...they were disgusting. and I am a guy who usually doesn't care about stuff like that. We never go back to the same resort, no matter how good or bad..But if you go here, and follow my suggestions, you will have a good vacation. Wish I could have read this type of thing going in...too bad you learn when its too late to enjoy everything. Now saying all the..I would suggest this resort to friends, again, as long as they listen to my suggestions, they will have a pleasant stay.

Muthu Playa Varadero: needs some work

This hotel was rated 4 stars but we think it should be a 2.5 or 3 at the most. Overall our trip was amazing - who would complain about beautiful weather, sandy beaches and 24 hour drinks? However, the hotel was going through a management change and a majority of the staff reflected this. The grounds were unkempt, the rooms and buildings needed an overhaul and the food was horrible. Like I said, we had a great time but had read reviews ahead of time so our expectations were very low.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Fantastic Vacation

Our vacation was amazing and worry-free and started with the service we received at the Tripcentral desk. Club Kawama: good affodable resort

The staff was very friendly, the food was above what I was expecting, the beach awesome & the entertainment excellent. The room was passible for a 3 1/2 star resort. The only problem we had was that the air conditioning broke & we had to change room. Will be going back next year.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great value for money

Pools are very nice. Hotel room was good. The beach was awesome. Great for kids. The service was good but you have to get used to everyone's hand being out for a tip, but that is Cuba in General. Would go again.

Palma Real: Not bad for the money paid for.

The hotel is not bad for the money paid for. I traveled with my boyfriend, and found Cuba is quite expensive for foreigners, 1 bottle of mineral water cost about US$3!!! Please make sure you don't make international phone calls from Cuba. It cost us US$40 for 3 minutes call to Canada!

Barcelo Solymar: Friendly resort

It was my second time to this resort , the staff are all exceptional , the beaches were nice . The food may need a lil upgrade but I had a relaxlimg vacation. Would go back In a few years need to explore other destinations. Rating this 4 out of 5 stars.

Most of the reviews I read before going to this resort was mostly NEGATIVE except a few... Knowing it was a 2 plus * I knew it wasn't going to be a great place,,Was I wrong!!I Have stayed in 4 and 5 *'s that wasn't as good..
