Grand Palladium Riviera Resort And Spa: Great March Break Experience

The Grand Palladium is huge and it takes a while to get used to getting around. The junior suite was well configured and suited our needs. Availability of movies would have been a plus. A great feature for our pre-teens was the soccer pitch / tennis courts / mini putt area; and the main pool at the Riviera was also very popular. For the period we were there the ocean was rough and the beach gathered sea plants, but we enjoyed the beach beds. Overall, employees were courteous, friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back. This is a great region for a family vacation, and we felt we got excellent value for the experience at the Grand Palladium.

Catalonia Yucatan: Great service, resort needs updating.

I enjoyed my stay. The staff was awesome. Unless you pay $500 extra to update to superior, the rooms are old, marked up and the beds are rock hard. Superior rooms were lovely. The beds were comfortable. The beach was great for snorkelling ; much of it was covered in coral and the sand was gritty. If you like a long beach walk, it won't happen here which is really too bad. There was a great surf. The local area; Puerto Adventuras was lovely, and gave visitors a nice place to walk , shop and see  [... read more]Dolphins, seals and manatees. The area was super safe. The Chill Lounge, accessible only to upgraded clients was a wonderful spot to enjoy evening drinks while feeling the warm breeze and listening to the surf. The food was ok. The El Mercator buffet had nice decor. Pools were great. Lots of kayaks and good spot for laying for all levels. Overall, barely a four star resort.

Sandos Select Club: Beautiful resort

Great staff Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Huge resort with lots to see. Wildlife everywhere. Great for kids and adults . Would definitely return. Very close to Playa Del Carmen with lots of shopping and good restaurants..

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Not yet a five star

The resort was very nice and the food was good. A little disappointed at the variety of selections on the menu at the a la carte restaurants. Paid for the diamond club but did not feel that there was any benefit. Seen our butler at check in and was very nice but gave him a twenty and never seen him again the rest of the week. Took us three days and many phone calls to get an ice bucket. I finally flagged down a fellow stocking the fridges and got him to get us one. Restaurant reservations could  [... read more]only be made at 6pm or 9pm which we found out later that they weren't busy at those times anyway. We booked the honeymoon suite and that was very nice. We have a rooftop jacuzzi that we used lots. The "upgraded" diamond club room service menu was exactly the same "word for word" as the regular room service menu that had very limited selection. I don't want to sound like a spoiled brat cause we are definitely not like that but we looked forward to this long awaited break and paid the extra money hoping to get pampered a bit. The beach was very nice but the ocean was littered with dead plant life and the workers were trying diligently to keep the beach clean but it was a never ending en devour. It was not the resorts fault for the state of the ocean, we can thank all of us for another side effect of global warming. Most of the staff was very nice and they were making a valiant effort to do a good job but they were definitely shot staffed in many areas. Overall it wasn't a terrible experience but it for sure wasn't five star status. This was our seventh trip to the mayan and have much better experiences at four star resorts. We will probably not return to this resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: fantastic resort

we loved our stay at the grand bahia principe coba, the grounds were beautiful well kept and well designed. the rooms were spacious and beds very comfortable. there was a great selection of very good food and drinks

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great Holiday

This is a great resort, food was good, accomodations good, service great, what more can I say! Enjoyed the week. Would definitely reccomend the place and looking forward to returning some day for another vacation.

Grand Riviera Princess: Spectacular!

An amazing place to stay. We opted for the Platinum Suites and our entire vacation exceeded our expectations. The service was incredible. The grounds are beautiful. The food was excellent. Can't wait to go back!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Good potential, but not for beach people.

This is a brand new resort, with new everything (buildings, rooms, pools, etc.). They have nicely laid-out the resort to feel more intimate/cozier than it actually is due to the large number of people (so, good job here). The food was excellent at the buffet and the two restaurants we went to (Opa and Zen) and there are no advance reservations required, which is much nicer in my opinion. This was very convenient with 3 small children, especially when preparing to catch our early bus in the morning to get back to the airport. The water park and slides were wonderful for our kids. They played for hours, and LOVED IT. The BUT in this review is the beach... the REASON we went to Mexico was for the beach, the snorkeling, the sand, and the ocean play, and we were bitterly disappointed. There is a huge amount of seaweed on this beach, and the resort did very little to manage it. Vacationers from other resorts said their resort cleaned up their seaweed everyday, but the only section that I saw cleaned at our resort (in the WHOLE WEEK) was the Diamond Club beach area. This is supposed to be a 5 star resort (and I agree that the resort itself was very nice), but the beach was a 1 star in my opinion. By the end of the week, the same piles of seaweed were still on the beach (with new piles building up), but now the piles were starting to rot and had flies and bugs in them - honestly, disgusting. I couldn't let my kids play there (on the beach in Mexico that we specifically came to play at!). In addition to the seaweed, there was a lot of garbage in the sand - probably from the recent construction of the hotel - but a lot of it was shards of hard plastic - not great for walking in bare feet. Yes, I was very disappointed in the beach, and I'm usually a live-and-let-live kind of person. I definitely would never return to this resort, and I couldn't recommend it to a friend.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Royally Treated at the Royalton Hideaway!

The Hideaway at the Royalton was exactly the all inclusive experience we were looking for! Our vacation began with a private and quick transer from Cancun airport. We absolutely appreciated the resort's short distance from the airport however because of its location it does present a problem for reasonably priced transportation should guests want to venture off the resort. Apparently it is quite pricey to take a cab to Cancun, Puerto Morales and Playa. The resort is trying to rectify this issue  [... read more]and are in the planning stages of introducing a shuttles service . Upon arrival, the beautiful, open air lobby with panoramic ocean views took our breath away. That set the tone for a week for total relaxation and pampering. Our checkin was very efficient. Our suite was well appointed in contemporary decor. We slept peacefully in the most comfortable bed imaginable. Initially we had booked a suite on the mangrove side. Our suite had absolutely everything we needed, from dual vanity sinks and rain showers, to a huge tv, lovely terrace and stocked bar fridge. After a couple of days we decided to upgrade to a suite that had an ocean view. We chose a Presidential Suite, which had all the anemites of our previous suite. The extra perks we're running oceanviews from all rooms, 2 full bathrooms, a separate living area and kitchenette and a massive rooftop terrace with a 14 ' pool/ hottub. We felt this upgrade was definitely worth it. We opted out of the Diamond Club. If we needed anything we simply called room service. We enjoyed service in our room for a couple of breakfast meals of perfect Eggs Benny, sausages, hash browns, fresh OJ and the best cappuccinos. The dining options at this resort are exceptional and the food quality incredible. We went to the main buffet only twice during our stay but it was the largest buffet I have ever seen, with so many food choices. We chose the a la cart restos for most of our meals. There is no advance reservation system in place, with the exception of the Teppanaki show at the Japanese restaurant, Zen. The system is pretty much first come first serve. If the restaurant is busy, you put your name on a list. Our favourite restaurant was Grazie, the Italian one. Outstanding Italian fare that would rival any I have had in good Italian restaurants in cosmopolitan cities. The seafood risotto and rack of lamb were to die for. We also enjoyed Zen, The Beach Grill and Dorado (incredible ceviche!!). All the ala carte restos had excellent wine lists but the house wines were decent so we never felt we had to pay that premium to enjoy wine with our meals. All other libations were top notch! Fabulous margaritas (try mango), delish mojitos (hmm...watermelon), whatever one desires. My husband enjoys a nice drink of scotch or sipping tequila in the evening and was happy to be offered Johnny Walker Black and Don Julio Amber. The barstaff at the Hideaway and the Lobby bar are outstanding, attentive and creative. The pool butlers are unbelievably efficiant and amiable. Big thank yous to Victor, Antonio and Alex!! At every turN there were staff members wanting to make your experiance the absolutely best vacation possible. That being said, glitches occur. We did experiance some spotty service. In most cases, if this occurred, the staff took it very seriously and went over and above to make it up to us. Speaking of the staff, these folks work incredibly hard so that guests have the optimum experiance and are most grateful to receive gratuities. Many comments have been made regarding the ongoing construction at the resort. There are a few issues on the family side of the resort. The areas are tented and the workers are very discreet. This had no impact on our enjoyment of the resort. We felt that there could be more restrooms throughout the resort grounds. Returning to the subject of restaurants. I have read some reviews from guests claiming to have had food poisoning during their stay. I am a trained chef and particularly observant when it comes to food safety. I would be VERY surprised if this was true. Perhaps these guests encountered a gastro bug or picked up something off one of the many common elements that are used by hundreds of guests during the course of a day. Despite the hand sanitizer offered upon entering any of the restaurants. With regards to the entertainment. Some of it was typical AI resort fare, however there were some outstanding performers as well. One evening, we enjoyed a brilliant performance by a trio of tenors. Another evening, by the Hideway pool, there was this very talented violinist playing an electric violin... Unbelievable. I have to share one final highlight. On our last evening, after a superb dinner at Grazie, we were making our way back to the Hideaway section. The air was filled with the scent of chocolate. The resort chefs had architected several stunning tablescapes filled with chocolate confections for tasting.... A memorable delight for the senses. We didn't take the opportunity to explore the spa or gym facilities and didn't get to all the carte restaraunts. No worries, we plan on returning in early December:)

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Hard workers all around!!

This resort was beautiful. I knew that there would be racoons everywhere because I had seen others write about them and posting pictures on other reviews before I went. Staff was very friendly and worked very hard. My biggest issue was that front desk called me early morning and woke me up two days in a row to remind me to go get the travel voucher from Air Canada. I knew this had to be done but I could do it any day of my stay. I like my sleep and now I had been woken up my first four days of my trip. I had to go see them again to tell them that my time to depart was already booked and I didn't know why they were still calling me. They were apologetic and said it was a mistake but that was still the worst part of my trip. I go on vacation to NOT set an alarm and sleep in. I only want to be called if I ask for a wake up call. Besides that, I have no complaints about the food or drinks. The pools were nice. The disco theque was out dated with their music and played the same music every night. I was sad to hear from an employee that they only got a hamburger a day to eat and could not have more options from the buffets so had to bring their own lunches to work. This gave me the impression that the Bahia Principe chain was cheep and didnt take care of their employees very well.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Treated Very Well - Love Mexico

Fourth Visit - The resort is big, keep very clean, and I would go back. Lots of families with children - didn't bother me. The food was fine, but they did have alot of their pre-book restaurants closed this time and the 24 hour bar also closed.......

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: The best all inclusive i have been to

This is our go to resort. The staff are amazing and one of the managers is always there to answer your questions or hear of any problems you may have. Room requests are handled promptly with a follow up call to insure that your requests were taken care of. There is a trolley service hat you can use to get from one place to another as it is a large complex but we were able to walk to most of the places we wanted to be. the beach is beautiful and the entertainment staff try to keep you active or y [... read more]ou can just relax. You are allowed a certain number of gourmet restaurant's depending on your booking and I suggest don't this in advance and if you prefer the buffet is great. This is our go to place in Mexico

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Wonderful Renovations

This is our third visit to the Maya Beach Resort and we will be back again. We have tried other resorts in the area but this one has a great beach area that you can swim I in ( very little coral that you can cut your feet on although if you swim far out you will need swim shoes because of the risk of a coral cut). The staff are very helpful and friendly. The new renovations are beautiful and the new mall is nice. The Tokyo resturant is the best for entertainment and food. Lots to do and see or j [... read more]ust sit on the beach and relax. The updated premium rooms are a must.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Super Clean!

We just returned from this resort and it was everything they said it was. Super clean absolutely everywhere you go on this resort, be it in the buffet restaurants or just walking through the immense acreage. The gardeners really show their pride with manicured lawns and beautiful hybiscus hedges. The people working at this resort, (and there are many to look after your needs) were so friendly and eager to go out of their way to help or serve you. The quality and presentation of the food in the a la carte restaurants would rival any top notch high class restaurant. I would recommend this resort to anyone wanting to come to the Blue Bay Grand Esmerelda to either explore, shop or relax.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Definitely a 5 star resort! Amazing!

The resort was amazing! The presentation and the food was great! We loved our stay there. Definitely a 5 star resort. The swim out room is a must, and the bedroom is gorgeous! Really enjoyed the adults only too!

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Best vacation ever

Large resort , Hideaway was perfect, furthest away from children's area of resort. Best service ever received from all staff. Will return. No issues with food quality, good service at a la cartes. Price transfer was amazing.

Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel: Good resort and very relaxing

The resort is very good for those looking for privacy and relaxation. The food can be improved (there are not so many options for vegans and vegetarians or no healthy options for those who are on a diet), also some of the food items are just fried in vegetable oil (not a good option).

Grand Sunset Princess: A Great Place For A Vacation

Just returned fro spending 2 weeks at Grand Sunset Princess, our 3rd visit there. This is a well maintained resort. The rooms and grounds are spotless. The food good. we were missing a few things in our room on arrival but a phone call had them there in a matter of minutes. We have no complaints at all about this resort and have no reservations about recommending it. We will be back for sure.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Third time at resort...always excellent!

The resort is awesome. This was a third time at the resort; twice at the Mayan Beach side and once at the Riviera Maya side. They have updated a few things at the resort which was nice. The food was great; had no problems at all. The pools were nice and warm; not cold at all, even first thing in the morning. There was a lot of seaweed on the beach and in the water as the wind was blowing onshore for days. Workers did an excellent job cleaning it up as fast as they could. I have never seen seawee [... read more]d on the beach like that at this resort the two previous times, they must have had a big storm or a lot of wind for a long time for that to happen. Jet ski time was fun, the cost was $70 US for 30mins which wasn't too bad. We will definitely be back again.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Fantastic week...great resort

Room was very nice. Cleaning staff was excellent. Front desk people were nice and gave great service. Pool areas were amazing, and beach was beautiful...nice and Sandy (very rough...red flags all week).
