Barcelo Maya Riviera: Nice vacation at Barcelo Maya Riviera Resort

Beautiful,clean,modern,huge buffet,polite and very hard working servers. The negative: dinner reservations very limited and took an hour to book when restaurant only half full!?! ,distance from airport, very late entertainment and no entertainment showed up on New Years! Resort had many young couples, Spanish speaking European tourists which games at bar were geared to. Snorkelling on site but better at Palace. Need to do own research of amenities at other 5 Barcelo.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: We had a great time!

What a beautiful place to go on a trip with the Kids. It might not be a 5-star hotel but our room were kept clean, and the sheets were changed every day. The personnel is so pleasant, and all our needs were met. The Buffet was fine; everyone found something to eat at every meal and the hotel has a great location. The beach is beautiful and calm on most days. I would go again that's for sure.

Occidental Punta Cana: Notthatgreat

The Food was not good, the rooms smelt bad, told water wasn't clean unless out of bottles, air transat miscommunicated time for pickup, a lot of staff that didn't speak English so hard to communicate.

Barcelo Huatulco: First time to Huatulco! We are so impressed!

We finally made it to Huatulco, and we are sold! We will return for sure! From the moment we arrived at the airport (we were the only plane that landed at the time!) we found the airport staff and security to be friendly. We got through security within minutes and were on our way to the Barcelo. Such beautiful winding roads and incredible scenery on our way to the resort. Upon arrival, we were welcomed immediately, checked in and offered a special drink at the Premium Lounge. The staff in  [... read more]the Premium Lounge were ALWAYS friendly and helpful. I believe Victor is the name of the gentleman who always made our drinks. Such a nice man. We booked Premium Oceanfront because we want a la cartes every night, ocean front room and nice balcony. We were thrilled with our room! We were even able to have an a la carte on our first night, thanks to the Premium Lounge staff! I did not get the names of the ladies in the Premium Lounge, but they were consistently helpful, always smiling and giving their best to their customers. We were in Room 234. Gorgeous room, comfy bed, amazing view. The one suggestion is to have better coffee in the room. The coffee in the lobby is terrific, but in the room it is way too weak, unfortunately. The only downside to this room is if there are weddings, it can be quite loud until 11:15 PM. We requested to have our room tidied up before lunch, and it was always done for us! Again, the staff are super friendly and accommodating. We had the pleasure of LUZ welcoming us with her beautiful smile every morning at the Breakfast buffet. Breakfasts were always delicious, lots of choices! Lunch was always at La Tortuga because the main buffet did not open for lunch until 2:00 PM. We never had any issues finding something scrumptious to eat at lunch! You have to try the fabulous pork tacos!!! Our favourite waiters were Angel, and I believe Francisco. Angel, our singing waiter was absolutely amazing. He made our day. We feel having a little extra personal service goes a LONG way! Francisco, quieter, but so professional and kind. We always had terrific service in this restaurant! I am sorry if I didn't get everyone's name, but thank you to ALL of you. Making an la carte reservations, having Premium is quick and easy! We prefer a 6:30 seating and enjoyed a la cartes every single night we were at the resort, 6 Italian, 6 Mexican and 2 Japanese. All had exceptional service! We absolutely loved the Italian for the superb and friendly, attentive service, the amazing and talented piano man (that added so much to our time in the restaurant) and of course the food!!! The Mexican was lovely, as you could sit outside and it was very private, and again fantastic service, delicious menu choices and very private and romantic. We were able to reserve the Japanese twice. It is a bit trickier to get into as there is limited seating. Mariano was exceptional. The lady that made the sushi was lovely and the food delicious! We did not eat off the resort. We felt there were enough choices and we wanted to try as much as we could while there! (one suggestion might be to have one more a la carte choice if possible!) Special people that really stood out for us were, Angel, Francisco, Luz and Gabby (first met Gabby in the Mexican) Fernando, the beach waiter, such a young gentleman, so kind and professional. We were impressed with all staff, but these members stood out for just going out of their way to make our stay a bit more personal. Now for the beach - WOW is all we can say! Pristine, clean, no seaweed, swimmable and absolutely lovely. You can also snorkel right off the Barcelo beach close to the island or to the left in front of the Dreams resort. It's not lots, but you can see different fish. You can book to have a kayak for an hour or go on a catamaran ride. The weather is perfect here, not one rainy or cloudy day! Walking outside the resort, you don't find garbage, or litter anywhere. It is absolutely beautiful and safe and friendly. We enjoyed the two shops in the resort and did purchase a few items. We also walked across the street to shop and found more treasures to bring home! We took a taxi to La Crucecita and to Santa Cruz. Very cheap and fun to explore both little towns. We went on one excursion (through WestJet) Fun in the Sun. It was definitely worth the $54.00 per person. We left the lobby at 9:20 AM and were back to the resort just before 4:00 PM. Abel was our guide and Louis Sr and Jr our captains. They were a wealth of information along the way. We were fortunate enough to see humpback whales! We stopped at two bays, one to snorkel at (terrific snorkelling) and one to have lunch! Breathtaking views, secluded bays, fantastic service and scrumptious lunch!!!! I did aquafit most days and did the stretching class once. The instructors were always friendly and professional and fun!! The activities staff were a lot of fun, very friendly and tried hard to get people involved! I could go on and on about this resort and this area. We did try the Fish Spa, even though I had to drag my husband in!!! It was wonderful and the best part being able to visit with Albino and his lovely wife Marta. Our feet felt so nice and soft afterwards. We would highly recommend this spa and we would do this again!! We will absolutely return and definitely recommend the Barcelo Huatulco. Barcelo Maya Tropical: Not a 5 star hotel but solid choice

I feel it would be unfair to be too negative about this hotel given the outstanding work done by the staff. The staff work so hard to keep it spotlessly clean and looking its best. The grounds are meticulously maintained, the pools are probably the cleanest I've seen at any resort (particularly given the number of guests using them) and the staff are attentive and eager to please. The food is meh at best. The buffets provide a huge variety of options and they work hard at it, but nothing taste [... read more]s good enough to finish, let alone go back for seconds. The a la carte restaurants are definitely better, but good luck getting a reservation during high season. We rushed straight to guest services when we checked in and could only get reservations for 3 of our 7 nights and only at 8:30pm or later! Needless to say, we never wanted to set foot at that buffet again. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but what disappointed us most was the extra charge for almost everything, which should not be the case at an all-inclusive. For example, charging for mini-golf after 5pm?? They have a huge TV with video games...for rent!! What is the cost to the hotel? Same goes with the water park, bowling, surfing activity, room service. I've never seen anything like that and we have stayed at numerous all-inclusives.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Very Good Resort

Stayed at the Junior Suite Ocean Front Premium level for one week, Dec 24 - 31, 2022. Almost everything deserves excellent marks: resorts grounds, hotel room, restaurants, buffets, amenities, tennis courts etc. Probably just the beach is a bit rocky for your bare feet in the water. Though I have one complain but it goes to the transportation company BD Expirience or WestJet since it's the vacation provider. I had a round trip private transfer between the resort and Cancun airport. My WestJet re [... read more]turn flight was delayed for about 1 hour and BD Experience refused to move the pickup time which was already scheduled more than 5 hours before the flight. Way too earlier in my opinion. I called to BD Experience at 8am, two hours before the pickup. They said it's too late to change the time. But how could I call them earlier if WestJet announced the delay during the night at 3am? Also I would expect that BD Experience would know about the delay and rescheduled the pickup time by themselves accordingly since they knew about my flight. As the result the driver picked me up at 10am as scheduled, I was at the airport at 11am and the flight departed at 4:45pm (original time 3:25pm). I spent almost 6 hours at the airport. So the private transfer was just waste of money on the way back.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Fantastic Resort

We stayed at the colonial premium from December 25 - January 9th. (Currently day 10 of our stay) The resort is extremely well maintained and the staff are always busy keeping everything clean. The majority of staff are very friendly and helpful. The only area we felt ignored was the piano bar area. Always lots of staff but they tend to just act like you’re not there. Food selection at the buffet was good. The steak house was incredible! We did take a cup of milk back to the room each night which did help. With the premium your room is in a perfect location for the beach and pool and our view was fantastic. Here’s the but the premium lounge is way up in the far end of the lobby. Not convenient at all!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Very busy post Christmas

The rooms are okay, the entire vicinity is great, lots to do however very busy. Long waits, have to be very early for beach chairs. Food is good, very family friendly. Service was lacking but I think it's because of the volume people. If your going to pack a resort there should be efficient staff. No fireworks for new years, along with lack of communication regarding reservations left our one planned family dinner (23 people) to all being separated. I would recommend not going during their busy  [... read more]weeks, not worth the top $. Note very rocky beaches and shore.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great trip

We love the Barcelona Maya Colonial, The place is beautiful, room was very clean . The food was good, and the staff were helpful and friendly . We could always find a place to sit by the pools or beach.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great resort

The resort was great! The staff was amazing and the grounds were always kept clean. The only thing I did not like was the “waterfall” at the pool bar near building 19. The water would get in your drink and that was gross

Occidental Punta Cana: Great Resort

The hotel is very well organized and maintained. It is clean and has a great variety of restaurants and bars. The beach is great, with white sand and clear water. The staff is professional and polite. I will definitely visit again.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Best stay ever

Nothing to hate or not love about his resort my kids and I enjoyed it to the max.. and I would recommend it to anyone who has a family and would like to enjoy a good vacation. I highly suggest getting water shoes as the beach is a bit rocky but it’s still beautiful

Barcelo Maya Palace: Beautiful Christmas holiday with family.

Beautiful holiday. Thanks for great memories. Only concern is flights.. We had 2 delays and fueling issues once boarded plane . Total 3.5 hours delay on return trip. General concerns for air travel as this is the structural factor to any holiday. We were very grateful that there was no flight cancellations as this would have been very difficult situation in respect to sunwing issues. If careful planning could go into travel either plane or transfers to and from airport as this makes or break [... read more]s a holiday and ones wishes to return to any resort. I will recommend Barcelo Maya Palace to friends and family. I'm placing my email address as not giving out personal information unless consent given.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Beautiful grounds - horrible food

The hotel itself is nice. The grounds are perfect. The room is nice (assuming you have oceanfront) - the shower was over flowing but could just have been our room The staff at this hotel speak little to no English (its odd and somewhat frustrating) the food is shockingly bad....like as bad as Cuba (beware) - the reviews are very real People should really avoid booking this resort until they fix this issue also - there is NO food options other than the buffet and evening resta [... read more]urants...also very odd...they need ocean front food options and food by the kids/family pools (so simple) - even just pizza, fries and burgers/nachos (so very simple) The kids/family areas are awesome - we would def come back IF they improved the food and have it available on the Ocean and by the kids/family pools otherwise we would not come back

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great family resort with a lot of activities!

We really enjoy our Family Christmas trip to Barcelo Maya Colonial! Everything is amazing, food, beach, kids club, water activities. It’s our second time at the same resort, and definitely we will come back again.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Very long checkins and checkouts

The check-in times are very long, 15 mins to to take a copy of your passport, and until you are fully checked in they don't even offer you a glass of plain water (which you need after a long trip). And same issues with check-out: takes very long. The sea is very rocky, you can easily break your foot if you make a wrong move just once.

Barcelo Solymar: Great Trip...Awesome Resort

It was a 4 Day, Girls Trip to Barcelo Solymar, Cuba. However, half of this resort was under renovations. We made used of its Sister Hotel, Occidental Arenas Blancs. We had everything we needed between these two hotels. This trip was very exciting, since the hotels were situated across the street from Downtown, Cuba, where, the Famous Calle 62, still is....Live Cuban Music and Dancing. The Havana Club is, still just down the street from Calle 62. There was Disco Music for Dancing, from 11 p [... read more]m to 3 am. Also, the Famous Beatles Bar, was also in this Downtown Area. It has nightly a vast selection of Live Music from 8 pm, free of charge. The location of Barcelo Solymar was perfect in every way. We stayed at the beautiful bungalows....and the food was Cuban Style. Since we had a choice of two hotels, to be entertained, to eat and to explore, I feel this is the best choice for Downtown Varadero Hotels, which met our needs in everyway.

Barcelo Solymar: Very bad

The main Hotel it's closed the other room they were given to us are worse the footage worse the food is bad p a process the ticket because of the main Hotel renovated but that was close ,?????????????¿

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Lovely vacation!

We love the Barcelo resort. The beach is beautiful, lots of comfortable chairs on the beach and poolside. The grounds are well kept. The lobby areas are comfortable and love the fountain features. The Premium lounges well supplied with top shelf liquor and friendly servers and concierge desk assistants. The pool areas were enjoyable and poolside servers were efficient and smiling, ready to bring your favorite cool beverage. So relaxing in the sunshine with cool breezes off the ocean!

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: Too noisy

We stayed here December 7-17 2022. Overall a nice hotel in a scenic area near Puerto Vallarta. Food and service were fine. We had booked a Premium room which was a nice size and the view was very nice. Seems like all rooms face the water. We were in Tower one on the ninth floor. Beach is small with lots of boat traffic so snorkeling and swimming is restricted to a small area of the cove. Pools were nice though. Loud music from 9am until 5pm. If there is a wedding, the music continues until 11pm [... read more]. There were 3 weddings in the 10 days we were there. Not very relaxing. Would not recommend if you want a quiet holiday.
