Palma Real: Meh

It was OK. Not amazing (at all) but not TERRIBLE. You have to have lots of extra money to tip or the service is non existent. You pay for what you get, the room was very dated and I don't recommend going there if u want a good night sleep cuz you hear slamming of doors all night long from drunks. The food wasn't as bad as we thought. Third time to cuba but I think we are done with there now.

Muthu Playa Varadero: You get what you pay for

The place is very run down. People are nice and try to serve but have little resources. Food is terrible. Bring a large cup, peanut butter and a good pillow and enjoy the beach. Otherwise, use at your own risk :)

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful resort

Beautiful beach. Nice clean resort. Great location and not far from the airport. Only drawback is that there was on free wifi, not even in the lobby. Nice beautiful sandy beach and amazing clear waters.

Barcelo Solymar: Okay but not great

If your looking for nice beach and greT location this is good spot The room cleaning is poor The beds are uncomfortable The pillows are more like tree logs Recommend you bring your own Food is good but desserts are poor Waiter staff is good Lobby is pretty with a live music nightly

Barcelo Solymar: barcelo solymar in Varadero

The food was the worst food at any resort i have ever been to and I have been to many. The staff were the most unfriendly staff i have ever encountered. The resort was not clean but the actual room was ok. ie. some guy dropped a plate of food on the bridge over the pool and it was still there the next morning when i was walking out to the pool. The fridge in the room was not plugged in so nothing was cold (they knew we were coming, plug it in). the shower doors almost fell off. If you asked the desk staff any questions they acted as if you were bothering them and they also knew nothing eg where any specialty restaurants were. You couldn't pay me to go to this place. Its a one star at best. The only good thing about it was the weather and the beach. Worst resort I have ever been too. Was nice tho that it is close to downtown Varadero. Avoid resort at all costs. They also stop serving alcohol at 11.

Muthu Playa Varadero: pretty good

it was a great resort but it got pretty expensive. try to stay on the resort if you go and save money. the beatles bar in varadero was a treat. all rock music all the time. the lobby bar with mabelle and dunea was amazing. those two girls are amazing.

Melia Marina Varadero: Melia Marina Apartments is NOT Melia Marina Hotel

I booked our trip at the last minute and left with a girlfriend to escape the winter cold. Upon arriving to the apartment that we were booked into, we literally hooted with joy because it was so beautiful and spacious. New, clean, and with a fabulous view out to the Marina (room 304, I believe it was). Things went a little downhill after that point. While the website tells you that you can buy an all-inclusive pass to the hotel facilities (food, drinks) every day, this is not accurate. Some day [... read more]s we were told that the hotel was too full, so we were out of luck. This would have been fine if (1) there had been a stocked supermarket nearby, (2) there were more than a couple of utensils and perhaps even a dish cloth in the kitchen, (3) if it wasn't randomly dictated who received the all-inclusive bracelets, and (4) if it did not mean we were excluded from accessing the pool and the beach (which is a public beach!). Without a bracelet on, you are stopped by hotel security and told not to enter the premises. We assumed the all-inclusive pass applied to only food and drinks, but apparently it applies to the pool and the beach as well. It was hard to figure out what the actually "rules" were because the staff at the apartments spoke very little English (if any) and told different guests different things. I secured an AMAZING price via tripcentral.ca so I certainly feel no regret. But, I would not choose to return again. If you have already booked an apartment, do not despair. Take this advice and have a great experience: (1) secure a room on the marina side, otherwise you'll have a view over a parking lot, (2) bring your own basic kitchen supplies such as dish soap and dish cloth, (3) pack your own food -- as much as you can! -- into your suitcase, such as pasta sauce, rice, peanut butter, etc. When you read the promotional material, it will tell you that there is a "supermarket" -- it is not what we think of as a supermarket. It has very little to actually make a meal with ... no fresh milk, no veggies, no fruit, not even bread. (4) if the staff at the apartments tell you that something is not possible, don't believe them .. go and ask another staff member, or better yet, walk over to the hotel side where the staff speak excellent English and are very professional. Melia Peninsula Varadero: A Little Disappointed

The resort needs a little work. Crumbling balconys, broken bathroom fixtures,balcony railing not attached to the wall, stained bedding,broken TV,and doors that do not lock. The way it was advertised to us was deceiving. I guess the travel agent did her job at our expense. We felt left out because we did not speak French. Even the map of the resort was given to us in French. I must say though the resort employees are hard working and it shows. The gardeners, maids, bartenders,check in ,bell boys  [... read more]and waiters were all very friendly and made the experience very pleasant. Upon our arrival at the resort our Air Transat rep was to busy . We were shoved into a dark room and given forms to fill out real guickly . Not greeted at the door with a cocktail and cold towel and then left to find our room with a French map dragging suitcases behind us in the heat. We did many day excursions which made our trip more enjoyable. We were away from the resort enough to help overlook all the negative things. I know you can't please everyone but this was the first time ever travelling outside Canada and doing an all inclusive and if our time spent at the resort was what was pictured in the brochures and as the travel agent told us we would have been happy.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Amazing Vacation

Just got back, everything was wonderful and we had a great time. Food was excellent, we ate at the buffet and had no complaints. The staff were very friendly everywhere and always willing to please. Our maid was very good, the room was always clean and we looked forward to seeing what she had made out of the blankets or towels. Our room was close to everything and only a short walk to all areas. The nightly shows were very professionally done and were the best we had seen at any resort. The beac [... read more]h was beautiful despite being washed out the week before by a bad storm but they were working very hard to fix it. The entertainment staff were wonderful. We came home with fabulous memories and would definitely recommend it to family or friends.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: A Solid Four Plus

We have been over 20 resorts in Cuba and D.R. and rate this hotel near the top. We paid for a bungalow which was clean, up dated and comfortable. The resort is small , well kept and the staff excellent. The other patrons from around the world were friendly and more considerate then some places we have been to. We meet some great folks from Britain, Ireland, Canada and other nations who were there to have fun and share the wonderful experience of this unique resort.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Beautiful beach across the street

Hotel was very decent, main lobby very clean. All staff helpfull, food ok, bbq shrimps amazing. Cocktails are colorful . Beach and view of ocean across hotel amazing. Tallest building in Varadero ☺ . Missing music during the day . Exchange office have money every 3 days , but that is expected , life is not perfect

Hotel Bella Costa: Nice resort

Resort was nice. If you are looking for a quiet holiday this is not the place. Lots of children. Could be the time of year. There is no adult section or adult pool as informed. Beach was beautiful. Food was adequate. Bar staff not too friendly. Maid service excellent.

Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing resort!!!

We had a great time and everything was perfect! We loved staying next to a marina. The rooms were very nice, the pools were huge and well designed. The food was very good. We love the BBQ next to the beach.

Roc Barlovento: great place

the food was good .the room was clean . good location will go back service was good the pools where clean the only thing was bad is the checkout time which is 12noon and we didnt leave till 5 in the moming we had no where to go till then

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Good Resort

The thought the Hotel and Resort was generally clean and well kept. The food was decent and the staff were helpful. By day 3 of our vacay I knew what were my favs at the buffet. The beach was nice and clean. There could be more beach loungers though. I would suggest that there be more in the way of activities during the day.

Starfish Jibacoa: Villas Jibacoa

Had a fantastic time in Jibacoa, beautiful location and beach. Yes the rooms are dated and the food is a little bland. The rooms though are very clean and food was always plentiful. The staff were lovely as were the locals in the village.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Fabulous trip!!

What a beautiful resort! The rooms were clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The beaches were fabulous and the water gorgeous. The only concern I had was with the food; while there was a lot of it, the menu was repetitive and a little on the bland side. I really appreciated the proximity of this resort to downtown Varadero. It was a nice walk into town for shopping and touring. All in all....a memorable vacation!

Iberostar Selection Varadero: My 1st Vacation at the Iberostar Varadero, Cuba

The entire Resort was simply amazing and more than what I had ever dreamed it would be. I am so happy I finally got to stay at the Iberostar Varadero, Cuba and will definitely be returning in the future.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great airline and resort

Sun wing airline was 40 min early there and back. Everything went very well the resort had good entertainment and food was ok. Staff was mostly very friendly some kept repeating was there birthday every night

Starfish Varadero: Not too bad

I liked the resort, our room was great. Had lots of hot water and the maid was awesome..everything about the resort was great except for the buffet..didn't like eating same food everytnite. The staff were really great, made our stay very fun.
