Emotions by Hodelpa Juan Dolio: Pretty Resort

This resort is about 1 hour and 40 minutes from the Punta Cana Airport. I prefer smaller resorts, so this resort suited me well in that regard. The resort itself is pretty, could use some touch ups, rooms are clean and spacious. We were "upgraded" once we arrived. I booked the Adult only building that had its own gated pool. I was moved to the Essentia Building that faces the beach. It also has its own pool, this is for families that are in the Essentia building. I did not consider this an upgra [... read more]de. I chose the adult building for the quiet adult pool and room. This building was noisy at all hours. The pools at times was taken over by kids, as it should be if you paid for that. The beach and pools are nice. The beach does have vendors, but a friendly no thank you usually sent them on their way. The food was ok. The buffet never changed, making it hard by day 5 to find something appealing to eat. The 3 other restaurants were good. We really enjoyed the mexican and Italian. The staff and service are great. Overall, I wont return to this resort, but i would go back to the Dominican. The Saona Island tour and the Santo Domingo tour are fantastic.

Occidental Punta Cana: Amazing Beach and spotless resort

We arrived at the resort and found it very clean. When we arrived it was 6pm and were were starving. It was the change over for diner and nothing would be available for an hour, so we sat down for a drink and ask the waitress where we could get something to eat,she came back and told us the taco venue doesnt open till for another house but she got the chef to make us something. They were the best chicken tacos every. It was a nice quiet resort no rowdy people which is what we wanted. We did  [... read more]have one issue with the A La Cart Restaurant (seafood) all A la Cart restaurants require reservations. We placed our order and notice the table beside us were served and 20 minutes later they realized that they gave our order to someone else and picked it up and gave it to us. We told then that we wont accept the food as it was at another table. We waiting another 30 minutes and not service. We decided to go and told the Wine Stewart our reason, He was very gracious trying to fix it for us but we decided to go to the buffet. The following evening for dinner we had reservations at the oriental restaurant and we walk up the Wine Sttewart (jose Sallamon) was waiting for us. He came and said I want to make it up to you for yesterday so Im going to take care of you. We walked in and they had our table ready with a bottle of Champagne chilling for us. We were so impressed that they made sure they fixed there mistake. To me that is a 5 star resort. All Restaurants were amazing food, beach absolutely beautiful, I am going back

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Nice scenery

Overall the trip was disappointing. It rained many days (which of course is not the fault of the resort). The rooms were spacious and had a nice view of the pool and the beach. There were bugs in the room and it required fumigation - there was minimal warm water available for a shower. The food was pretty good- nothing to write home about. THe beach is awful and full of sand flies- still scratching myself raw. I personally would not recommend this place.

Riu Merengue: Ok family vacation

Very large resort. We stayed in the Merengue Village. The buffet was not opened in that section (only opened the following week) so we had to walk to the Merengue Garden. We were travelling with our children and my father therefore a lot more walking than we would have liked. The line ups at the buffet where very long since the resort was sold out and one buffet was not opened. Changed rooms after the first night since the AC was not working and the room was a lot further in the Village. We  [... read more]got a room closer however the AC was not all that great. For a family resort, I was surprised with all the smoking ANYWHERE on the resort.. Seemed everyone was smoking and it didn't matter if you were at the snack bar, pool, lobby (trying to hide from all the rain we got). The food tasted good and the variety was good.

Riu Republica: Great vacation!

We stayed with 2 other couples at this resort and had a fantastic time! Resort was big enough to have lots of restaurant options but not too big to require shuttles. Beautiful grounds, immaculately kept. Friendly hardworking staff. Excellent food. Lots of beach/pool loungers, no matter when we arrived for the day.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Will not go back

We have booked a master suite two years in a row and we are given a standard suite. The first year we did not get the room we paid for until middle of the week. This time we went right back to the reception area and would not leave until we got the room we paid for. We were given no reasons as why this happened, no apologies, no nothing. Why is it so hard to give us what we pay for when we get to the resort. Twice in a row is unacceptable.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Cofresi Palms

Huge place, lots of steps, no good for people with mobility issues, clean, good food, excellent service, closed to the airport, Check in time is slow when all guests arrive at once, lots of pools to choose from, many a la carte restaurants

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Amazing Resort

Stayed at this resort for a week. The beach was beautiful and great to walk on. The service was great at the bars and restaurants. There was a variety different of food. The restaurant at the beach was busy and hard to find a table so we tried to stay away from it. We did not try any of the other restaurants. Our room was clean and the grounds were well cared for. Overall a great place to stay. Would gladly go back.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: You get what you pay for

The ground are clean however pools needed to be cleaned more often In regards to the public pools .a lot of Walking the grounds is to massive however very nice staff at the photo booth and vip transit . However the lifestyle staff are to aggressive in trying to sale you the welcome gift. Rooms were nice however my toilet was leaking , took about four days for them to send someone was they for only a week

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: Amazing Resort and Staff

We stayed at the Mirage section. Beautiful resort, food quality excellent. The entertainment staff of Alex, Alex, Stephany, Ana, Mr. Cool and Fire Girl were amazing. They made our vacation so much fun. Our Butler Angel was fabulous. He saw to our every need. Because of these people we will be returning next year. The best resort we have been to by far.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: I will be back....

I have stayed at the Luxury Bahia in La Romana, at the Grand Bahia in Punta Cana and a resort in Puerta Plata. Nothing compares to the beauty and service at the Cayacoa. The lush mountains of the surrounding jungle and view of the Bay is breathtaking. The other reviews are correct that your stay may not be perfect. I met others who had issues with WIFI in their rooms, tubs that wouldn't drain or luke warm showers. But the smiles of all of the servers more than make up for any little inconvenie [... read more]nces. This truly is the one resort that I will come back to someday.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: More Cons than Pros

We (brother in law his wife and us) arrived at the resort to get informed they were overbooked because of a wedding so they gave us our VIP wrist band and transferred us to next door resort. Iberostart. They added another wrist band for regular guests for this resort so we could use their facilities. We have to wait till past 4 PM to get our rooms and they were far apart from each other.. They were to inform us next day if we will remain in this resort or go back to our original. Next day in  [... read more]the afternoon we moved back to our resort where we have to wait for our rooms. Sunwing offered us 1/2 hour massage each and a romantic dinner per couple for the inconvenience ( I will refer this at the end) and they also offered a massage to another couple we met as well and they were upgraded to VIP status. After we moved back my brother in law realized he forgot his jacket and cellular so we informed reception, VIP lounge so they could contact Iberostar. Three days after we kept going and asking about this we were informed they found the jacket but never found the phone. We continued encountering small problems so we expended lots of time going back and forth to either talk to the reception of the hotel or the Sunwing rep. It was raining the last 3 days of our stay and this showed leaks all over the resort so we will see cones warning of wet spots and in some cases only a blue towel which they were totally wet. Last day we decided to go to the Disco located in the Main entrance and there were only a few cones and some towels soaking the leaks. We were avoiding the towels with no presence of cones close to the entrance when suddenly I step on a wet spot and I felt and bang my head violently on the floor. I waited for the Doctor and she checked and put a patch on my head and asked my wife to wake me every 2 hours and left. Next morning we were waiting on the lobby for our bus for he airport and the couple that was moved to VIP was asking if we received the VIP treat. VIP treat was a list of items that VIP people will received, like a bottle of Rhum, massage, bottle of wine with each meal, etc etc which we never received. A few comments from the resort before the final BANG!!! Pool area, always full, people putting towels to reserve spots from before 7 a.m Beach area same thing VIP area same People trying to take you to go to a meeting for time share and beach people offering massage, pictures all day. To finalize this exceptional bad week. 2 days after our arrival back home I have to take my wife to emergency where she stayed for more than 3 days and she contracted Salmonella. And this is only a quick review. The positive I can say about this resort is that employees in restaurants and bars are extremely friendly and will try to please you at all times even after watching them work from early in the morning to late at night.

Riu Palace Macao: Elderly crowd

Excellence El Carmen: Very nice resort!

As we have come to know with the Excellence chain we were greeted with cool towels and champagne. The check in was efficient. We were taken to our room in building 6A by bellhop and the amenities in our room were explained in great detail. The rooms are quite modern and to our taste. We were a bit surprised however that there was not one piece of art on any of the walls. Perhaps a little local modern art would be in order to support the locals. The grounds are very well kept with simple flare. T [... read more]he resort set up is a little different than others in their chain with a little more emphasis on privacy. For this reason there is no lazy river but there are pools tied to each building (not heated) with real swim out rooms with loungers available around each and every pool. The main pool (heated) is not as big as others but still quite nice for getting a float in. The many restaurants were quite good with decent service throughout. The bar service was quite good as well. The majority of the staff go out of their way to help out with your requests. This resort is only 1.5 years old and will only get better with age. ENJOY!!

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Vacances très appréciées

Nous avons passé une semaine franchement très appréciées. Le trajet de l'aéroport à l'hôtel d'une durée d'une heure est pittoresque et nous permet de prendre connaissance de la végétation, des habitations et de la beauté de l'ile. Les modalités d'enregistrement ont lieu dans l'autobus, ce qui accélère le traitement à l'hôtel. Il nous reste qu'à prendre possession de le clé de la chambre. La nourriture était excellente tant au buffet que dans les restaurants spécialisés. Beaucoup de monde sur la plage, quand même un peu tassé. Les restaurants qui donnent sur la plage offre une vue fantastique, service courtois. Pour les adeptes de longue marche sur la plage dans un environnement sauvage, vous serez gâté. Peu d'hôtel autour du El Portillo. Le court de tennis (il n'y en a qu'un seul) nécessite que vous réserviez à l'avance. La qualité de la surface est de mauvaise qualité mais jouable. Les lounges sont nombreux et permettent de faire de la lecture tranquille, ou d'écouter un musicien ou de prendre un verre donc de relaxer et d'apprécier le luxe du tout compris.

Punta Cana Princess: Fun in the sun

The hotel grounds were well kept.the food great with lots of variety especially the fresh fruit. Our room was spacious and clean. Our bus on returning to the airport was late, about 20 minutes. The lineups long and slow causing anxiety and stress and nearly missing our flight home. The calming affect of our wonderful vacation was lessened

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Beautiful Place

Beautiful place amazing weather. Couldn't get more then 2 mini coors light beer in the fridge, no matter how much we tipped. We went to guest services and they said all you get is 4 a day, but we could only get 2? I wanted club soda, not flavoured pop and ended up with tonic water, club soda never happened.The shower flooded the room on Sat. They cleaned in up and brought us a dehumidifier. The leather pad on the desk wreaks of mold and should be eliminated, wrecks an otherwise beautiful room. W [... read more]e went from Fri to Fri, I ended up in hospital for 30 hrs on Wed in anaphylactic shock, still not sure what from. I have to carry an epi pen now. I wish I could do it over again, and come back with better memories. This is a little piece of heaven, just wish my trip had a happier ending. If I had paid full price I would have been very disappointed.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Stress vacation

Resort overbooked. Moved to next door resort waiting for next day to be moved back. Wasted two days waiting to be check in ( schedule for after 3 p.m.) Leaks in buildings and floors were wet . Reception install warning cones but looks like run short of them so they put towels which were wet all the time. Pool always full as well as beach. Food below average Every time you go to buffet area you will encounter people trying to sell you something. Annoying. Visited 3 restaurants. I went to t [... read more]he Mexican, Brasilian wearing dress shorts but I was not allow to do so in the Mediterranean. Shouldn't you use the same rule in all of them. I will not go back.

Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus: Our favourite resort

Our recent stay at the Iberostar Hacienda in La Romana, D.R was just wonderful. We have chosen this resort for the last 10 years and have never been disappointed. The service, food and accomodation has always been excellent and I would recommend this resort to anybody. Theresa Verbeek

Grand Palladium Select Bavaro: In a nose dive. Good care taking of gardens and beach. Visitors not a priority but rather resort policy. Fourth Time there but now the last. Resort seemed extremely empty compared to last 3 visits. Food quality way down. Rooms 3rd one of this holiday sub standard. Rooms we always had and requested were " not" available but were no problem if we paid for an upgrade of $ 500.00 for the 10 nights. Asked for bath robes 6 times but never got them. They promises are hallow.

Grounds good . Beach good. Visitors not first priority. Food poor to fair. Rooms are below 3 star. Rooms we request are not available unless we were to pay an upgrade fee of $500.00. 50$ per night. No rum and fruit basket in room, no bathrobes, not even after 6 times promised, one by manager who was in our 3rd room due to Safe not opening. Worms on room floor. Many room problems and half assed bandage type fixes. Done visiting and promoting this resort.
