Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Cuba is great and also very different
Spent 2 weeks here. The Cuban experience is different from other hot weather destinations. The staff are excellent and well educated. Entertainment was first class, all trained musicians. Location, beaches, shopping, golf, Havana are all close. The only real drawback was that the food was not as good as other resorts I have been to. The flights down and back took a lot out of us - arrived at 5AM and left Cuba at 5AM. Make sure you eat in old Havana if you go there, not in the TAXI recommended pl [... read more]
Starfish Jibacoa: Comfortable and safe
Varity of options available ocean, mountain, pool and space to walk. Great staff, very friendly and professional. Clean environment and engaging programs. Food menu and taste needs to improve, at this time there is a lot of waste because food is not tasty and ends up staying on the plates.
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: EVERYTHING WAS GREAT!!
This was our 1st All Inclusive ever and we had NO regrets! Everything was great! From the room, to the friendly staff, to the food and ala carte choices, the beach, and the service! This was also our 1st trip to Cuba and we so enjoyed the country, people and excursions we went on. Thanks and we will be back!
Club Tropical: Dirty-bad customer service
Needs maintenance, bedding was not comfortable, there was sand on the bed first night :-( pillows are terribly huge, dust everywhere. We did not have water Saturday March 7 for a while. I was taking a shower when this happen. First night, the receptionist was very rude because we did not have a voucher ( never got one) our names were in her list but she did not know what room. It was not a pleasant experience. Drinks poor if I have been told it was this bad I pay more and go to a better one. Pic [... read more]
Memories Jibacoa: Fantastic resort
Excellent in all aspects. Clean, friendly service, very nice pool, nice mountain with view of the area. I would return certainly to this resort. Many of the staff speak French in addition to English (Spanish too of course). Nice and relaxing atmosphere.
Memories Jibacoa: Memories Jibocoa
Losing our paradise in Cuba early report: I and my dad have been at Jibacoa Memories since Feb 6th and are witnessing first hand the evolution of the new team. For context we never complains and reports the staff are still wonderful. As of this week the new manager, Julie is on-site. No last name offered. She spent 10 years at Memories Havana. Very puzzling to be told the first few weeks that she was waiting for a Cuban visa. Staff are no longer allowed to have any human contact with clients no [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: staff amazing but the resort old!
Smallest resort! Perfect for none walking people! Staff great. Food ok. Room needs some work. We had to move because it's smell so bad. The resort is far from the airport and Varadero. The beach is a beautiful but windy.
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Best a Resort On The Beach
The Melia Peninsula is set in beautifully landscaped, well maintained gardens, winding paths throughout the plantation-style buildings. Nothing is crowded; no high hotel-stlyle architecture, simply 2 and 3 story, 4-unit sections, well set back and spaced. The staff are amazing- friendly and helpful. A large pool with snack bar cools you down after a day on the beautiful beach. The international restaurants, especially the Japanese- Barbaro the chef-, are a nice change from the buffet. Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Breath taking!!!
My husband and I loved this resort and had a blast. Amazing staff greeted us daily at the beach, found us beach chairs and even cleaned our swinging bed for us! Food was awesome and the drinks rocked! We are lost for words when attempting to describe the beach.............We walked for hours and NO OTHER resorts came close to the beauty of our beach! We are a couple in our early 40's from the east coast (N.B.) and would definitely return! Thank-you Carol Webber for all your help prior to our tri [... read more]
Hotel Los Cactus: Dated
Mattress completely worn out which wore on us by day 7 staff awesome resort needs some tlc and would return Have to do something about all the birds in buffet while standing in line the sparrows were on edge of grease hood relieving them selfs into the cooked pastas I just pretended I was at picnic but the amount of birds was a bit too much
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Fun was had by all. :)
Nice quiet resort with very little issues. Good food and lots of pools. It also has one of the nicer beaches in the area. Beautiful weather... for my stay anyway :) There were minor issues with wifi and the lack of hot water (it was warm) but neither effected the trip in a negative way. I would happily return to this resort.
Punta Peninsula Varadero: Exceeded expectations
Three large pools, one for entertaining younger families and the other two were more quiet and layed back. Two swim up bars. The restaurants were fantastic, and my favorite was the buffet at lunch having my ceasar salad made especially for me. The nightly entertainment was amazing. Easy access to cabs going to town or bus. No hassle. People were accomodating and very friendly
Muthu Playa Varadero: excellent value! beautiful beach!
The beach is incredible, there is loads of entertainment on the resort, and the property is great! The food isn't very good but there are lots of different on resort spots to choose from so anyone can find something they'll like. Bring you're own insulated reusable cup to drink from so you don't need to use hundreds of their tiny disposable ones. Enjoy
Memories Jibacoa: Friendly resort
The grounds and public areas were well maintained. The rooms were nice ( overlooked the pool and the entertainment area ) and we understand that they are in the process of updating the rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good but not the selection you find in Mexico and Dominican Republic. The beach was nice for swimming and strolling. It is a smaller resort so space around pool was always available. Only two restaurants with very restrictive reservations, not easy to get in [... read more]
Muthu Playa Varadero: Awesome week
We travelled 4 adults we had an awesome week. The beaches here are amazing. The service was good all helpful and very nice. The guys I travelled with brought guitars and played with the house band at the beach grill and mail lobby in the evening. We met a lot of really nice people at this resort other tourist and staff. I like too try different resorts but would I go back??....I would. :) it's beach, sun, drinks and good ppl. Cheers!!!
Resonance Blu Varadero: Brutal all around
Lets start with the bad -food (one of us got food poisoning) -drinks (no slushy drinks because all the have is small slushy machines and never have a chance to make ice) -rooms (kinda rough shape, and beds suck) -15 min walk for everything -people (door slamed in face for not tipping the guy that brought bags to room ,we didnt exchange any money yet and only had 20's) -delayed 18hrs total with sunwing and with a 5 month old to boot, plus idiots put the luggage on the plane and we couldn't get fo [... read more]
Starfish Jibacoa: Villas Jabacoa - a cozy resort
This resort is a jewel for a 3 star rating. The location is lovely, the grounds are well tended and natural. Staff were helpful and friendly. Many guests I met returned year after year because they felt so comfortable here. It is not posh and fancy but is very comfortable and pleasant. Evening entertainment was quite good. The food is basic home cooking offering a wide variety so I'm sure there would be something for everyone's taste. Meal times were busy and cutlery was a bit skimpy but the sta [... read more]
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great Holiday!
Overall good service, friendly staff, well-kept grounds and fabulous beach area. Any concerns were dealt with promptly and efficiently by management. A la carte restaurants , especially the Japanese and French were good.
Club Kawama: 3rd time
This was our 3rd tme to this resort and all I can say is it is going down hill!!We use to walk in and see friendly faces and now all you see are unhappy faces and there isn't a friendly face around. We heard more people complaining then ever before. Some days we had no electricity and some days no water. Did they care not in the least!!!! We use to love going to this resort but we will never return. One day we even had a flood in the room but no one even cared or even made an effort to correct t [... read more]
Muthu Playa Varadero: Pretty rough
The good: the water is lovely, ocean is warm with little seaweed. Spent most of our time there. The beach restaurant at lunch is the only edible food, make sure to get your fill. It also happens to be the Cuban a la carte, which is also very good food. Lovely staff as well, went above and beyond. The bad: oh where to start. Stained sheets when we arrived took over an hour to get changed by rude maids even after being tipped a 5. It's very run down. Please don't bring children, it seems unsafe.. [... read more]
