Starfish Cuatro Palmas: fun week
Friendly staff, nice beach, all in all a good resort, has fun bars off the resort like the beetles that was fun to go to, food was actually really good at this resort. You could walk up the main street to go shopping for local things as well.
Resonance Blu Varadero: Average resort
The resort is big, great for walkers. Beach is average. Main buffet good, smaller beach buffet, ok. Rooms are clean, towels need to be replaced. Cleaners in rooms are very good with what they have to use.
Club Kawama: great relaxing vacation
The resort is sprawling over a large are right along the beach, so depending on where your room is, there can be a lot of walking. Most of the paths are easy to navigate and well lit at night, but some are uneven and not lit. We had our room changed to be closer to the center of the resort on day 3 of our stay and the less walking was traded off with more noise at night from the entertainment. Staff were mostly very friendly and helpful when we needed them. Our room was clean and tidy, though th [... read more]
Resonance Blu Varadero: Had a great time.
Great drinks, beautiful beach, lots to do. The food was not very good so that put a damper on the trip. The Japanese restaurant and mexican were the two good meals we had all week. We also were not that impressed by the shows but many others were.
Starfish Cuatro Palmas: This resort is great
I just came back from Cuatro Palma's and the resort is great, people are nice and a accommodating. The food is great, beach is amazing, we were in a room across from the Calla 64 and the music was loud. Asked to be moved and they were accommodating.
Palma Real: Sun and sand
This hotel was dated but clean. The weather for the week of Feb 23-March 2 was beautiful. A short walk to the beach with its own area for Palma Real guests and our own beach bar!! The entertainment was nice but the location of this resort is so close to the downtown area that we could enjoy the local entertainment, dining and shopping!! I think I'm going back next month!!
Hotel Bella Costa: Adequate
When we got there, we were not given the room we were originally assigned (1st flr) but claimed this was a very nice room, ocean view (you could see the ocean from any room viewing north or south) (4th flr) was over the outdoor stage and pool, way to noisy. The bathroom ceiling over the tub was falling in. We were relocated to the 5th flr; opposite side a lot nicer yet hall always smelled like a backed up septic system. Some of the staff were very friendly, entertainment in the evening was fun a [... read more]
Starfish Varadero: nice resort but hotel in bad need of repairs
the hotel is very out dated but for the price we paid it was ok the food was good no better or worse than we have had in our last 8 trips to cuba.the service from all the staff was exalant the room was cleaned very good every day all in all we had a very good vacation.one bad thing was on our trip home my wifes suitecase was opened and her 300 dollar sunglasses were stolen
Punta Peninsula Varadero: Amazing
Everybody is very friendly and helpful. There's a lot of food choices, thumbs up for that.....good view, good place to relax and a perfect place for couples like us...about the rooms, its all fine and clean, the mini bar are always full and refilled everyday. Overall-EXCELENT*)
Occidental Arenas Blancas: nice resort
Hotel was awesome .... but sunwing leaves alot to be desired... between delays of leaving and coming back lost about 36 hrs and my job never and I mean never would I ever recommend sunwing to anybody and they offered me a 50 $ gift certificate that is is incredibly difficult to run through
Paradisus Varadero: Good resort
Great beach, large resort and well laid out. We think 3.5 star resort. Friendly people. We would recommend, but right away we asked to change rooms as there were issues as the room was tired and the staff we're very helpful.
Punta Peninsula Varadero: TIERD
This resort is the last resort on the peninsula an outstanding area and in the day this resort must have been amazing but now is very tired. We went to the buffet every evening could always find something to eat never went hungry. The alcohol was not watered downed and service at all bars were good. The beach was beautiful but one pool was not working and instead of closing it they allowed us to use it without telling us. We were out of our rooms by 7 every morning and our rooms still were not c [... read more]
Punta Peninsula Varadero: okay resort
This resort is rated 4.5 or 5 star depending where you look. I personally would rate it 3.5 or 4. The housekeeper was not great. She didn't replace the popeer everyday, forgot to leave water and towels. The room was a good size. The food was okay but nothing fancy...certainly not 5star dining.
Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: very nice resort
The resort was nice, well kept and clean. We got excellent service all week. Buffet had a good selection of food, and the a la carte was good. The Italian restaurant was nothing special you can have better pasta at the buffet. Our favourite was the oriental we ate there 3 times. We were only able to change our beach towels once all week that was our only complaint. Overall the service was good the people friendly and the resort was nice. We recommend this resort.
Grand Memories Varadero: Okay resort
Nothing outstanding. Rooms clean, water pressure great, beds comfortable will meet your basic needs plus - stayed in superior room tv older everyone looked like Martian and radio did't work - great job keeping bar fridge stocked. Rm 22320. Not enough cover at beach- be there by 6:30 - no exaggeration to reserve a covered spot. Lounge chairs uncomfortable - plates matt was a great idea a few guests had. Many loungers broken few huts in disrepair - need new leaf parts. Beach well groomed. Beach ba [... read more]
Punta Peninsula Varadero: Blau!!! How ya like me now?!?!?!
The resort was everything I expected as I read the online reviews. The beach is beautiful. There is a lot to see and do on the grounds itself. Yes, our room was a little damp, but nothing I could not tolerate. There was a lack of beach towels available, but again.. as I read that before hand I was sure to bring my own.
Villa Sotavento: Good location. Great Beach. Indifferen management.
Let me preface by saying the Villa Sotavento is a group of 4-8 Bdrm houses on Calles 13 &14.They are administratively part of Hotel Aguazal ( esq. 13 y 1ra). You take meals, bar service and any hotel-like amenities at the hotel itself. The Villas are located in the 1 block long side streets between Hotel and beach. The room we were allotted ( on13 near Canadian Embassy),was spartan. 1 8x8 balcony for all 3 top floor rooms. TV worked. Closet did not have key to match lock. Shower was just a pipe [... read more]
Club Kawama: Cuba libre
Cuba is beautiful, the beach and ocean at the Club Kawama resort is fantastic. I returned to the Kawama because previously I had a great experience. This time my expectations were too high. The staff is great in the most part, lovely friendly people. One bad experience in the dining room, the waiter said he wouldn't serve me unless I gave him a tip. I was shocked and felt very uncomfortable. 5 out of 7 days we had no water in the room, which was a challenge when it was shower time after the beac [... read more]
Hotel Acuazul: Lovely Staff
I think I arrived at this hotel expecting more than I should have. It is a lovely property and the staff are amazing. It's right in downtown Varadero, and walking distance to everything you need. Right across form the beach too! The rooms are very basic but clean. The shower in my room did not drain very well, but it was taken care of.
Hotel Acuazul: Friendly and Homey
Though by no means a glamorous resort, Hotel Acuazul offers a homey comfort with friendly staff. This was my first stay at this resort and would reccomend it to all. Located right downtown the resort is close to everything you need to experience the heart of Cuba. With numerous 'Tiendas' and the beach right across the road makes this place ideal for those looking for a getaway with a chance to explore (without paying out for excursions). The staff at Hotel Acuazul are friendly and welcoming to a [... read more]
