Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Beautiful Resort

The resort was very well maintained. ALa Carts were amazing and the service excellent. Great variety in the Buffets. Amazing pool! Rooms were really clean. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Nightly entertainment was very good.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Perfect Playacar!

Our recent stay at Sandos Playacar Beach Resort was nothing short of amazing. The beach was white sand, the water Caribbean blue, the food excellent and the staff wonderful. We have nothing negative to say about our stay. We were ocean front so our room was a bit smaller than the Hacienda suites, as expected. Our Sunwing Rep was thorough, knowledgeable and helpful. We took in the Kitchen Tour (thanks Erika), cooking demonstration (thanks Charlie) and Mayan purification. We rode bikes into Playa  [... read more]Del Carmen and walked the beautiful beaches. The entertainment staff were great (thanks Jaime) and a wide variety seemed to please all. From the buffet to the gourmet, from the cupcake cafe to the bars - everything was great! We found the entire resort from the kitchen, dining areas, grounds and rooms, to be extremely clean. The final touches of surprise champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in our room topped it all off.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort

We had a wonderful experience at the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort. The rooms were clean and very comfortable and the resort was well organized and beautiful. The weather was perfect and the we were not bothered by anyone selling us junk on the beach. The food was excellent and we were cared for by happy and attentive servers at the buffet restaurants. Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great stay!

Very nice hotel, pools and beach were very nice, and staff was very friendly and accommodating. The maya and Caribe side were more modern décor, while the tropicale and colonial were the more traditional Mexican décor, it was nice to have access to all 4. The a la cartes were fantastic! would stay here again, huge resort with lots to do We did have our bag stolen at the pool, but can't blame that on the resort!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Very nice

We stayed in a pool view walk out, it was great, especially if you have children, pool right there to entertain , room service for meals at a touch of a button, maids , bartenders,(especially Israel ) at lizards bar , I have nothing to say bad, everything and everyone was top notch... I highly recommend this resort..pool view walkout is worth the extra money..

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Very nice resort!

Grounds were lovely, beach was gorgeous, staff friendly, everything always nice and clean but...room was damp with the humidity, air conditioning quality might have been better and we had trouble with our phone even though it was replaced twice. I would definitely recommend this resort!

El Dorado Maroma: Incredible resort and sand!

The food, service, rooms and grounds were incredible! We particularly loved Mio's and the new Caribbean restaurant that just opened. The activities were fun and our room was spacious and cleaned daily. Love the boutique feel.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Relaxing Mayan Riviera Resort

With only one or two exceptions, the staff of the Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort were not only friendly, but very accommodating. The dining experience was very much above average, with a well stocked buffet experience and a few a la carte restaurants that strove to be exceptional and in fact were quite good. The beach front and ocean were wonderful, but of course many, many guests chose to leave towels reserving the chairs and lounges all day long, despite a never enforced hotel policy aga [... read more]inst such infantile behaviour. Sea turtles were abundant within a short swim. I would advise all those who do not want the around the pool party scene with really excessive volume to the music to request in advance a room in one of the two buildings not adjacent to the pool. Pools are not heated and chilly at first. Be aware that while elevators are planned, they are currently not available.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great service and excellent restaurants.

The staff are really trying to make sure they live up to the new Don Pablo brand. Great service at all restaurants with only one exception (one dinner at the Italian Restaurant where service was very slow and inattentive) Our rooms was overlooking the beach in Akumel area and couldn't have been nicer.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: We didn't get what we payed for.

Overall the resort is good. All the facilities, rooms, restaurants look good, new and clean. The problem is with the service. The front desk clerk was careless and rude. In the restaurants not enough stuff. We have been tald to wait an hour for Agave Restaurant and at the same time half of the seats were vacant. The food in Agave and the Japanese restaurant was auawful. In the Sports Bar I liked the service but not the food. Steak House was great. Mediterranean Restaurant was good. Tex Mex Resta [... read more]urant was also very good. The buffet was really good. The food there was always fresh and tasty. I loved the coffee shop. Rooms are really nice. We were very unfortunate to be in a room where renovation was going close by. 3 out of 7 days drilling and banging was our wake up alarm. Pools are nice and clean. Plenty of beach towels everywhere. It's a bit hard to find good spot around the pool unless if you trow a towel at 7-8 am and reserve your spot. Beach needs more cleaning. There was a lot of see weed on the beach and the sand was not really clean. Entertainment was ok. Every night there was a live band and some funny games. There is a disco as well. Another thing: It's great resort for those who go there with kids. It's good for couples... and... it's not for singles. We were 3 girls and it was kind of a boring when it comes to new friends and communication.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: What a Beautiful Huge Resort!

The resort was beautiful and so well kept, I've never seen such a clean place. Rooms were immaculate and fridge restocked. The staff were awesome and so friendly, especially the one bell hop named Alex (Alejandro) who found carts for us as much as possible and the lobby bartender Jose who remembered our drinks. The buffets were average, beach bars fantastic and the a la cartes were amazing especially the Japanese and Brazilian restaurants. I think the downfall of the resort is how huge it is. The one day we waited over an hour to take the train to see the rest of the resort so we ended up giving up and felt we had wasted too much time doing nothing. This ended up being amusing though because then the following day, we swear they came every 5 seconds. Way too much walking. It didn't take long to get from our rooms at 45 block to the lobby, but to where all the action was, we felt we wasted too much time travelling, which took away from precious drinking time lol. From what we heard from other guests, the rooms in Colonial and Rivera Maya section weren't as nice which was also unfortunate because we would want to stay in that section next time since Kantenah had no entertainment. Everything happened at night in the lobbies at Colonial and Riviera or White Sands section so again you'd have to travel. The entertainment was awesome, so much fun!!! I didn’t have a chance to see the disco because I danced the night away in the lobbies. My husband got lost the first night coming home from the disco and it took him 4 hours to get to our room, he had asked for help but didn’t receive any. He was not happy at all. We also had one evening where the power went out in the whole resort – pretty scary when you don’t know where you’re going. I was a little disappointed because it happened around dinner time and I missed out on an a la carte dinner and there were no apologies from management. Part of the beach and shoreline were rocky but over to the Riviera Section is was amazing. It would have been nice to have corona there too but not a big deal. The drinks were awesome and they would remember what you drank. The sol was good but draft beer got to my tummy so not sure if maybe the lines were dirty. I'd still recommend the resort. Abundance of wildlife right around you, from flamingos to alligators to the iguanas – amazing. Crazy staff were fantastic – the games were so much fun!! They had markets all over the place and I didn't feel hassled. If I could guarantee the quality of cleanliness and beauty in my room in the Colonial or White Sands/Riviera Section that I got in Kantenah – then I’d definitely go back!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Wouldn't return

Food was amazing although they could use a Mexican restaurant Rooms were huge & clean Lots of shells & coral going into the water (cut my knee on them) Disappointing after dinner shows if you can call them that Absolutely no late night entertainment

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Beautiful Resort

This was my favorite resort to date. The lush greenery made us feel as though we were walking through the jungle every day to to get to our room. There is lots of wildlife on this resort which I loved. Rooms are very large and clean. A la carte resteraunts were tasty. Buffets were not great but we always found something we liked. The hotel staff were the friendliest we've ever had! I would DEFINITELY return to Kantenah and would highly recommend it. The resort is HUGE and there is a lot of walki [... read more]ng but shuttles are available if you want to wait. They run about every 15 min. but we didn't mind the walk.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Excellent vacation!

We visited Grand Palladium Feb 22-27 and had a great time. The room was perfect, walking the paths through the mangroves was beautiful. The resort was clean, service was great. It was exactly what I was hoping for. The only comment I would have is that we traveled with our son and would have liked to eat at the a la carte restaurants but they didn't really have kid friendly food on the menu. The menus looked great thought and other guests raved about the food.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great Family Resort

The resort, service was great. Amenities super clean. Rooms 3-4 star. Food 5-star. Only two pools at Akumal though. The beach is steps away and is nice and clean. Bring snorkels! Only annoying thing is the time share guys trying to get your attention everytime you pass them one the way to dining room.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Awesome resort

I loved this resort. It was very clean. The employees are very friendly and helpful. Always something to do. I think the prices for stuff was a little expensive but they have everything you you run out of something. The only thing I didnt like was they try to get you to buy into a time share there threw the resort. So if your going watch out for these people cause they are in the front lobby waiting for you.

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Great value and lots of fun things to do!

It was overall really great. Tons of stuff to do besides bake on the beach! We went on a long bike ride, paddle boarded, kayaked, went on a catamaran - all included. We also went on a great excursion to Tulum. Would go back to this area again!

Grand Sunset Princess: Grand Sunset Princess - Riviera Mya - AMAZING!! -

We just returned home from our vacation here Feb 11 - Feb 18. The resort is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The accommodations are fantastic! Don't be fooled by negative reviews, everyone's expectations differ, but from our perspective we found this place to be amazing all the way around! Family Princess Area We stayed in this section in a swim out room, the rooms were huge and very nice, the cater to kids, below are some of the highlights. - There is a private bar never busy. - Swim o [... read more]ut rooms (pool is a little cold but you get used to it. - Private restaurant the caters to the kids, and never busy in and out with no wait. - Ice cream shop (my kids loved it). - Water park and kids club area. *** There is a little secret most people at the resort aren't aware of, this section is free WiFi NO PASSWORD so if you walk over to this area you can jump on no problem. Food Anyone that complains about food at this resort is just plain picky. We ate like kings and that is truly and understatement! We ate in a different A La Carte each night. the A La Carte are all 3-5 course meals, really way to much food. ALL of the A La Carte were fantastic, and no issues booking them. Use your concierge and get him/her to book them all in one shot just tell them which ones and what time and they will give you receipt reservations. We never waited and most times showed up 1/2 early and got in no problems. Here are our ratings based on our preference 1 - Mam Mia (Italian) Awesome food, appetizers were great, and the pasta is some of the best we had. 2 - Miso - Asian Cuisine - We went here twice the sit down and the Tapenyaki both were very good, again a LOT of food! 3 - La Fleur - Grill - I had probably the best Filet Mignon I have ever had here, and the portions are big. 4 - La Vaqueria - Its all about the meat, the appetizer, through to the entrees is meat. I had a massive T-bone steak which was very flavorful, a little fatty but still very good. 5 - Swiss La Fondue - This was also very good and a nice experience which was a little different than the others. If you don't like cheese don't go! Buffets - There is a variety of food in these that appeases everyone, if you cant find something you like here then you are really picky. Yes they can be repetitive, however there is no possible way you can eat everything everyday day an night and try everything they have!! They are massive, so just find what you want, I even had a grill Rib Eye at the buffet one night and was great! The Resort Grounds What more can you say about this other than it is AMAZING. Fr anyone the complains of the walk from one end to the other (unless you have a disability - no offense to anyone), then you are just lazy! Walking through the resort each day and early morning was the highlight of my day. There are live animals (iguana, monkeys, Colatis) everywhere. The resort is massive and pathways throughout so if you like exercise or just walking, I encourage you to walk around the resort, these people work EXTREMELY hard and never stop from morning to night to keep the place exceptionally clean! Pools There are so many pools there are some for everyone. We had a swim out room and the pool was great. There is the main "party pool" which is louder (music playing and events going on all day long its fun, but can be a little overwhelming with the party like atmosphere or people who have had too much tequila! lol. But don't worry, find one of the other 11 pools to lounge at or read a book. The Beach The beach is great, and it is busy during the day (reserve your chairs early by 8 am its probably 60 - 70 % packed). There is a bar there the serves as well the best BBQ snack shack that serves hamburgers, hot dogs, the best chips and salsa and guac ever! If you want to pay for the chill out (we didn't bother) as we had free WiFi in the Family section and were quite capable to walk to get drinks at the bar! The ocean itself is very nice, but understand Riviera Mya is a reef and it constantly moves, so one day the blue blue water will be right in front of you, and the next day it is down 100 feet! But don't let this deter you from the water, its great when you are in. A few rocks but nothing you cant navigate. TIP - If you go about 100 feet to the right (looking out at the ocean) of the main lifeguard chair its nice and sandy, and walk in and veer a little left, then straight out .... nothing but sand. All in all this place is AMAZING. Yes you cant please everyone, but in all honesty we traveled as a family of 4 2 adults and 2 kids (10 & 13) and we all had a GREAT time. Not to scare anyone, just trying to put things in perspective on how well this resort operates, this was totally not any fault of the resort but the people above us!! On our 5th day we returned from a day at the beach at around 4:30 and opened the door to our room to find 4" of water on the entire floor and water pouring through the ceiling from the unit above!!! I called our concierge right away and told him, we grabbed all of our stuff and pulled it outside, within 3 min there were 5 people (including the concierge, head of maintenance and 3 cleaners) at our room. It turns out the people above us left their Jacuzzi running and it overflowed and kept going! Within 1/2 hour were were in a brand new room, and any of our clothes or anything was taken and laundered! We received a few extra perks as well as a fruit platter and bottle of champagne the next day for the inconvenience! All in all we were down a 1/2 hour total time to change rooms, and they moved everything for us, and we were back on our way!! This was to no fault of the resort, but to the people above us caused this, and the resort took ownership ASAP!! I will be returning to this resort again without hesitation!! Sorry for the long post, but if you are like me and looking for some real info on the resort and tired of reading TripAdvisor about people giving it a 3 star because the walk was to long or there was a foot print scuff on the bottom of the door, then this was our experience! A special shot out to concierge Manuel .... he was terrific!! For anyone thinking of going, or going .... GO ENJOY!!!

Ocean Maya Royale: great"adults only" resort

this small resort had it all. Great food. Friendly and accommodating staff.Beds and pillows very comfortable. lots of activities. shows in the evening were very professional. Beautiful pools, great drinks. the only thing I was disappointed with was the beach along the ocean. Lots of seaweed and rocky in places.not a very good beach for walking, some obstacles along the way. Still enjoyed this hotel very much.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites: One of the best vacations of our lives

This trip wasn't all about the journey - it started with our agent who worked with to find the perfect resort for us and the boys. From that point on it only got better. The resort was more amazing then we could have imagined. The staff were incredibly out going and easy to deal with and would do what they could to accommodate your needs. There really is far to much to describe to give you full details of how great this vacation was. From the front desk staff, to the guys greeting you at the door. From the housekeeping staff smiling all the time and asking what you might need for your room. To the entertainment and wait staff knowing my boys by first name and addressing that way to make them feel special. They say that Disney Resorts are the happiest places on earth....after this week I beg to differ. Its the only place I have ever been where on the first night there I said to my wife....we will be back here again. So much to do and be involved it you never have to leave the resort !!
