Occidental Arenas Blancas: Ok resort
The pool and beach areas were beautiful and well-maintained. The disco was very loud until 3:30 a.m. so hope you don't get a room directly above it like we did. The food was ok and the rooms could have been a lot better.
Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Super fun resort
Very clean and just the right size. Not too big so it was easy to get around and everything was so close. Our room was steps from the pool and very comfortable. Bed was a little firm and would take my own pillow nect time but very clean and perfect location. Would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat. Recommend private guide if you're going to Havana. It was awesome.
Starfish Jibacoa: Beautiful Setting
Beautiful setting, with hills in background and Sea in front. Very friendly and trustworthy staff. Food was the best we've had in Cuba. (fourth time ). Trips into countryside and ballgame in Matanzas, very memorable.
Hotel Bella Costa: Breezes Bella Costa varadero
The grounds were very well kept, our family suit was better than expected. The beach was excellent and the people were very friendly! Had a great trip to Havana and an interesting tour. The lobby bar was fun with many people to chat with and fabulous entertainment.
Club Kawama: Beautiful Beach and friendly staff!
We would compare the hotel to a university setting in regards to the rooms and the food. The beds were similar to cots and the food was average. However the beach is breath taking and the staff are very friendly and welcoming! I would come back for sure. The location makes it perfect to walk downtown or go to fabulous restaurants. It is an average hotel but the whole experience was awesome
Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Just Ok
This hotel was run down and in need of a good paint job and some updating. The hotel lobby ripped you off on exchange and gave you rates based on the American dollar (example: for $100 Canadian you would receive 72 pesos). Snack bars changed locations daily which got confusing. The main buffet was the same every day which was boring and bland. You need to bring condiments with you as there are none available with the exception of mustard. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. Great b [... read more]
Club Karey: Pleasantly surprised for a low rated Cuban resort
Food was far better than expected..excellent pork roast, fish and turkey. Mattresses a little bare and water pressure barely adequate. Staff were excellent. The beach could have been better cleaned of debris such as beer cans, glass bottles, etc.
Starfish Varadero: disappointing resort
Check-in was long with no order of clients waiting at counter. The grounds for the hotel were very large and unsafe to walk by yourself in the evening, although there was security a the beach during the night. The food was very dissatisfying. No pasta bar, although their was pasta on the buffet, but the sauce was similar to tomato juice. Only one breakfast station with very long lineups. French toast appeared to be deep fried and syrup was red coloured water. Pork was edible, although the chicke [... read more]
Melia Marina Varadero: Beautiful Resort!
Loved the resort! Everything was very clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Service great! Room was spacious, fresh, nicely decorated and very clean. Had a great time and would definitely go back.
Muthu Playa Varadero: Some great, some bad
Beautiful location in Varadero, really close to the beach. Most of the staff were amazing and friendly (entertainment staff especially), a few were quite pushy (including our maid). Food mostly tasted good, plain as most Cuban resort food is, however in our group quite a few people got sick from the food. The rooms were fairly spacious with nice balconies however most people had problems with their doors and electricity, our rooms electricity stopped working half way through the week on the one [... read more]
Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing
Excellent places to visit and people are very nice. We were in a one bedroom apartment which is very good to stay. We both feel it as our home. Our apartment was facing to the marina view. So we enjoyed the view a lot at the time of relaxation. Nice resort to relax.
Hotel Blau Las Morlas Varadero Beach: Great small resort
We stayed at Las Morelas for a week.in February 2015. It was a great stay. The resort is small which we really liked. We have stayed at larger resorts that we found just to big. The food was really good. Lots of choices at the buffet. The grounds and pool of the hotel were kept clean. All the staff were friendly and very accommodating. The room was decent for Cuba standards. Nothing spectacular but always clean. Overall the hotel had a calm relaxed atmosphere. A good place for adults and familie [... read more]
Melia Marina Varadero: It was OKAY
We knew what we were getting into when we opted for the European Plan and expected to cook up a storm...however, the grocery "supermarket" had minimal stock (no eggs, no fresh vegetables, and questionable frozen meats). It was more of a variety store which helped sustain our liquid diet of beer and mixers. If you opt to stay in the apartments, like we did, make sure to do research on where to find your groceries beforehand. BECAUSE, my one other complaint is that that concierge where (for the mo [... read more]
Roc Arenas Doradas: Disapointing, on most frtons
The food was poor, the Jacuzzi had no water, the lazy river had no water, cockroaches in the rooms, birds in the restaurants, and cats all over. To sum up the trip, the service was great and the drinks were cold, however all other aspects of the trip were quite disappointing.
Starfish Varadero: Terrible - requested a change immediately
Hotel was empty, workers everywhere and under construction front desk couldn't be bothered to help us and the buffet was dirty and very little choice we didn't expect much from a 3star but this was terrible
Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Clean modern resort. Good food, well laid out.
A very clean modern resort, very easy to get around, Food was good. A la carte restaurants were very good - Asian was by far the best by consensus of our group. Buffet had good variety but food was not always warm. Rooms were clean and well maintained.
Club Tropical: depressing
The room we were given on arrival was appalling. On the 4th floor with no elevator we were forced to climb a filthy stairwell with broken handrails, The room was dingy and the broken shower only gave ice cold water, This they explained was their standard room! It took three nights to get our room changed. The front desk staff was indifferent. The food here was the worst I have had in Cuba and gave up and went out to eat. The dining room was also very dingy with VERY dirty windows.
Roc Barlovento: Nice Central Location
First impressions of the hotel were great. The grounds were nicely kept, the staff was friendly. We arrived around noon so the room was not ready until 4. We were able to have a nice lunch and wander around a it. We had requested a king size bed which they were not able to accommodate as they said the hotel was full and maybe the next day. Our room had an awful smell to it so we reported it immediately and once their technician recommended we be moved they did so right away to a room with a king [... read more]
Hotel Acuazul: Really good hotel
For the price paid it was the best choice, its close to everything, and the people at the hotel are ready to help with anithing!! In the time that i went there it was a little bit chilly, but still much better than winter in canada!!!
Melia Las Americas: Good resort
This resort could be a 5 star resort (Cuban Standards) but after 20 years, it is starting to show its age. Everything from the rooms to the general structure and facilities need to be brought up today's standards. The food is good and plentiful. There are only 3 resturants that I would recommend where the food and service was very good (Japanese, Italian, and International
