Selection Riviera Cancun: Great Resort!

This resort is great! The food is awesome, service is great, rooms and grounds are clean. Plenty of lounge chairs at the pool and beach. Very accommodating for families with children! The beach is large and sandy, however when you enter the water you hit rocks/coral beneath your feet pretty quickly. There is nothing the hotel can do about this, but it was the only downside of the location. Overall we had a great time and would go back again!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: simply beautiful !!

Everything you could ever want, and more !! with the Don Paublo Collection we had use of amenities at all 4 resorts. Little trains to take you between places - very convenient ! So many a la carte choices and buffets had excellent variety daily. Staff were friendly and attentive to any of your needs or wants. Beach service was terrific. Whatever your choice - relaxing by the pool or beach activities - all there ! Yes, this is big resort and there is lots of walking but the grounds were beautiful [... read more]. Security personnel were discreet but present. Mayan Riviera never disappoints !!!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Great resort, amazing staff, fantastic time!

I traveled to this resort at the end of February with three friends and we all had a great time. The resort is beautiful and the beach is great. We had read reviews about it being quite large and lots of walking but we all found this was not the case. Maybe we were lucky in our location in building four but we were steps away from the main pool, and whether you were heading to the beach or restaurants, it really only took a few minutes to walk to either one. Overall the service was great. There [... read more] may have been the odd spot that was a little slow or understaffed but really nothing to complain about. This can happen anywhere. Our favourite servers where Victor in the Sports Bar and Alistair and Victor at the outdoor bar/entertainment area. We loved this concept out having the band and DJ outside and everyone in the resort was always having a great time there. We liked all the restaurants and the best were the Indonesian and Japanese. The food and service and both places were amazing. A lot of people raved about the French and Italian, which we found good but we enjoyed the other two more. Again, it can depend on your server and what you ordered. The rooms were a nice size and I like the layout that the bathroom area was separated from the bedroom. The beds were quite comfortable. The only little complaint was that we wished there was more vanity space in the bathroom area but then we were two girls sharing a room so given this is an Adults Only, it's more designed for couples. I think people can always find something to complain about, some more than others, but as long as the place is clean and safe, you are on vacation so just enjoy it. It's more about who you are with and that is what makes it a great vacation. I have been traveling to resorts for the past 15 years and this one is near the top.

Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort and Spa: Truly Top Shelf

The Silversands is a place I would highly recommend. Everything from the superb service and food, to their elegant property and gorgeous beach..... this was a first class experience I would do all over again. I've never returned to the same place twice at an all inclusive after many years of travelling, the Secrets Silversands will be my first.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: nice resort - still too new (glitches to work out)

Best part: fantastic food (even buffet), great drinks, pretty resort, nice gym/spa facilities, friendly staff, beach party was fun, close to airport To be improved: wait times at restaurants (sometimes 1-2 hours)!! workers & machinery cleaning beach all day/every day, music throughout the resort was lame, 'adult only' applied to 1 pool and section of beach

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: A great resort to relax and unwind!

The annoying time share guys at the hotel give you a bad first impression but it is a great resort to relax and unwind. The food is amazing and it's nice that you don't have to make reservations. The resort has little shade because it is new. We had a room with a Jacuzzi on the roof which I would recommend for couples. Also ask for Hide Away so you can go to the adults only seafood restaurant.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Amazing resort!

Loved this place. So clean. Good food. A la cartes were great. Grounds were immaculate. Lots of walking but that was good. Internet usage was not fair. Paid for one hour but the one hour was only usable for ONE day. Did not tell us that when we bought Internet time. This needs to be reviewed. No other resort does this. Still, we will return some day!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Perfect Couples Vacation

Had a wonderful 1-week vacation at this all-inclusive resort. We have been to several resorts in the Mayan Riviera before and this is one of the best ones. Very new and clean. Service was excellent. Got upgraded to a better suite just for requesting a king-size bed instead of 2 doubles. Pools were amazing but unfortunately quite cold for some reason, so not a lot of people were in the water. Food was great both at the buffet restaurants and at the a-la-cartes for dinner. Did not attend any of the evening shows so can't comment on those. Yes you have to reserve your lounge chairs by the pool or beach early each day, but that wasn't too difficult. Overall an enjoyable and much-needed escape from the bleak Canadian winter. :-)

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Two thumbs up!!!

The staff was very friendly, the food was amazing. The buffet offered a great variety and the À la carte were excellent. When we arrived at the resort, we upgraded for a swim up room. We took advantage of our pool (exposed to sun all day) on the days when it was too windy and cold at the beach and too crowded at the pool. This was our first time in Mexico and I have to admit that the beach at this resort was very nice. Never had an issue finding beach loungers. A must do in Playa Del Carmen: Co [... read more]co Bongo! Such an entertaining show. I recommend the VIP tickets as it gets crowded in there. Resort had free WiFi which was great. Lots of emphasis is put on the level of the bracelet: Basic, Priviledge, Exclusive. The beach is seperated in two, buffet and restaurants have designated areas for seating. No one could sit at the Exclusive table unless you had that bracelet. So you could have an entire evening of not having the table used but have a waiting period of 30-45 minutes at a restaurant. We were Priviledge and it happened to us once that they passed us in front of a Basic. Did not like that at all! This was our first experience in Mexico so not sure if that's how it is!

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Great Potential, but not quite there yet

Spent one week prior to the official opening of the resort. The facility is modern and clean, and the staff is very friendly. I loved the swim out heated pools. From that perspective 5 stars indeed. There were still some repairs and construction going on while I was there, so there was some noise and certain sections were not accessible. Food and service in the restaurant was inconsistent and they run out of food and certain beverages during the week. The staff looked overwhelmed. There is no do [... read more]ubt in my mind that they were understaffed, but again, staff was doing their best to please and provide 5 star service. Now, my biggest issue was with the entertainment and overall feel. Most of the music I heard the whole week was american rock. I definitely did not feel like I was in Mexico. I felt like I went to states:-( For this reason alone, I doubt that I will go back. Also, they have a great teen area with pool, ping pong tables, fuse ball table, air hockey, but adults are not allowed. There was nothing of that sorts available for adults. I guess we were supposed to just drink away and danse to "good old rock n'roll". Very disappointing on this front. Another disappointing fact was the availability of chairs, shade and nice beds. Never managed to get a spot on the bed. The last day I understood why, tipping staff will get you to hog three beds, two at the pool and one on the beach! I have nothing against tipping to reserve, but most of the day the places were empty and the people that were on the beach did not get to enjoy such nice furniture. Something should be done about that for sure. Overall, I had a very good time, but I can not say this was up to par for a 5 star hotel. It will probably be better in few months:-)

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Another Grand Stay at a Grand

This is our third Grand. The other two were Grand Bavaro and Grand Rose Hall. This one is just as nice as the other two. The food was better here, but the 'cool' salt water pool was a bit of a drawback. This does not mean we did not enjoy ourselves, but just wanted to note it. We were there for ten days in February 2015, and I wish I was back there now. The beach is beautiful, food was good, the staff were first rate. Can't wait till next year.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Above Average Resort for All Tastes

What strikes one immediately when approaching the lobby of the Barcelo Palace is the sense of space and elegance. The vast lobby and grounds make it possible not to feel crowded even in the high season when we arrived to escape wintry Toronto like many other Canadians. The pools are enormous, clean and inviting and I especially like substantial but different pool areas exclusively for adults as well as for children. Although the rooms are quite a walking distance to the restaurants and the beach [... read more], the corridors and the gardens are very nicely kept and decorated with sculptures and fountains that they made the walks like a pleasant daily exercise before indulging yourselves in the restaurants. The a la carte restaurants are one of the best I have visited in all inclusive resorts. The Seafood and the French restaurants are really first class and their service equally so. The lobsters are so fresh and deliciously cooked. The disappointment both in service and quality of food is the Argentinian beef Restaurant Rodizio. Suddenly you are back down to earth in an slightly below average experience with rather negligent waiters and ordinary steaks in an uninteresting ambience. The buffet restaurants are very good in its varieties and freshness of food and all the restaurant and cafe staff maintained a high level of manners and friendliness even at the peak breakfast times. Now the down side : the customers' service and the internet. All the lobby front desk staff and customers' service are very hard pushed to serve all the visitors. There's just too few of them and they seem to be trying very hard but not given enough correct information by the management. The fact that there is no dedicated cashier desk make the queues and line ups long and laborious even when you only intended to ask the simplest of questions. One feels that the hotel and their staff do not have or want a lot to do with the staff from the Holiday firms. Hence, when I asked for help on arrival regarding my lost luggage by AirTransat and who to get in touch with, the hotel lobby staff could offer no help except a rueful smile of sympathy. The internet was bad. Bought a $45 wifi service that's supposed to work in your room and the central lobby area and it did not work at all in my room when I was really relying on it to get help to locate my lost luggage. (Remember it is a good 10 minutes walk to the lobby) . Subsequently, it is still very erratic service in the room. The bedroom themselves were very good and outside the quiet balcony we had, we could even spot a deer at night together with other some small interesting animals. All the chamber staff were excellent and friendly and the facilities clean and excellently kept. The beach is vast and gorgeous and never short of a chair to lie on. Soft sand and plenty of shallow water where you can see fishes and some even saw turtles. Also the location made it possible to have a big variety of local excursions for Mayan temples as well as cenotes and other sporty ventures. All in all , I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and I am not easy to please !

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Great place to relax

Resort is beautiful, rooms are spacious and very clean, as is the rest of the resort. Loved Mikes coffee house, and choice of restaurants. Lots of room to relax by the pools or beach, great kids area too.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Don't worry Bahia Happy!!

Amazingly beautiful surroundings and friendly, fun atmosphere! Partnered with comfortable rooms and delicious amounts of spirits and yummy eats to fill the tummy , this is the place to be!! Don't worry Bahia Happy ;)

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Excellent Resort

Our stay at the Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda was great! The hotel is beautiful with many dining options. There were 8 of us all together and everyone loved the food whether it was the buffet, late night snacks or the many a la cart restaurants. Our room was in building 6 which was nextdoor to the outside breakfast area with a pool. We were a little ways from the beach, it took about 10 minutes to walk or about 5 minutes if one of the many trollys were driving by. The rooms were beautiful with a show [... read more]er worth mentioning. Our view from our garden view room was great. It was very jungle like and there were many animals out on the lawn to view. The beach was very nice, although, I feel it must be mentioned, if you are looking for turquoise waters it might not be the one for you. There was a lot of seaweed and a lot of rocks in certain areas. Otherwise it was spectacular!

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Review before you go!!

The food was excellent, the yucatan platinum rooms were sterile and too modern looking, we had to ask for the plastic sheet to be removed from the mattress and a cloth one put on as it was too hot and sticky...I went for the beach, the beach was nice, but you couldn't play on the shore line or swim due to the amt of sea weed and the rocks in the water. Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Good value for the money

There are certainly more expensive hotels but this one was first class all the way without being overly expensive. The grounds are beautiful, perfectly manicured without a piece of trash anywhere. The resort is very large but the tram system is very efficient and allows you access anywhere in the property. The buffet restaurants are amazing. Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Super family holiday!

Adult children and grandchildren accompanied us and had a great time together. We enjoyed the many activities and pleasant staff. Having read previous reviews, I was hesitant, but found no problems as stated. The resort is not new, but is very clean and didn't hear the noise that others complained about. I had a couple of issues, but the staff dealt with them immediately and checked later to see if we were satisfied. Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Clean and very friendly

Well my friend and I booked a standard room and I have never been put in a room without a window! Huge wooden door small peep hole dark, very dark and you shared your vernada with everyone on that floor!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Great Vacation

This is a beautiful resort, smaller and on the quiet side, which we liked. Food is definitely gourmet and only has one buffet and several restaurants, which we much preferred. Gym is brand new and awesome, always a machine. Staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and always repairing, cleaning or just busy keeping the place pristine. We will definitely go back.
