Palma Real: Really good time!

This hotel was amazing the only down side was the food but if you bring enough money to eat out restaurants are mins away and delicious! The staff was amazing they made me feel at home! If you can stay in building 4 it was newer a/c works had hot water all week. The lobby is a smokers paradise especially at night! Overall great time can't wait to go back to Cuba!

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great resort for a holiday!

Very clean, with friendly staff. This Resort has one of the longest beaches I have ever stayed at. We had beach access not far from our room. For the joggers, there was a great pathway that ran the length of the Resort. For walkers, it took about 45 minutes to walk the length of the Resort's beach.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great view, excellent staff, 5/5

Room was spotless. Staff were friendly and always cheerful. Buffet food was very good. A la carte restaurants werr tasteful and interesting. We really enjoyed the marina setting. Pool was nice. Not a party resort but that's what we wanted. Will go back for sure.

Hotel Bella Costa: Average hotel

The room we stayed in without a balcony had a good view but not the most soundproof to outside noise. There were two double beds as well as a single in our room. Would of liked the room better without the single since it would of given us more room. Everything was old and there were very few English channels on TV. The channels we did get showed reruns of shows that were just shown on the previous day. The service at the hotel was excellent. It could of been a little cleaner. For example the win [... read more]dows in the main buffet dining room were disgustingly dirty.

Villa Tortuga: Villa tortuga good resort

The hotel overall was okay. The location was great very close to the ocean however service and rooms weren't good. Our rooms toilet, shower and back door was broken and never got fixed. The food wasn't great but that's expected its Cuba. You get what you pay for!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing Vacation!!!

The grounds are stunning, the rooms were always clean and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The beaches are beautiful, the pools are always clean and everything is conveniently located around the resort. The entertainment staff are all wonderful and they have a lot of activities for you to do if you don't want to lay around all day. Surprisingly the food is actually good here. There is a lot to choose from so you're bound to find something you like even if you're a picky eater. The h [... read more]ouse red wine is fantastic ( I didn't try the white), and I would recommend the Cuban and Japanese a la cartes. I wouldn't recommend the Mexican and the Romantico and Italian were just ok. I got lucky to try all 5, but you usually get to try 3 if you're staying 7-9 nights. We did the jeep excursion which is super fun but bring small gifts for children if you can. We also did the trip to Havana which was absolutely stunning and informative. I would highly recommend this excursion. All in all the Iberostar Laguna Azul did an extremely fantastic job at making our stay memorable and enjoyable. I would definitely return to this resort.

Muthu Playa Varadero: fun times

This was my first experience traveling abroad, and I went to cuba. I must say that Cubans are an amazing people. Very generous and kind. I'm so grateful to be able to see for myself their incredible culture before their historical change. I would definitely go to Cuba again in the future.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Excellent vacations!

We've been since Feb 9 -Feb 15 2015 (2 adults and 2 kids). We are very satisfied with everything: rooms, services, medical services, food, animation. Now more details based on negative reviews I have read before our leaving (those reviews made me so upset that I want to provide my details): Room: It was clean and big, fresh sheets, no bed bugs ( but we have 2 pillows, I think if we asked for extra they would provide, but we did not need them). AC was working fine ( we even could set the temperat [... read more]ure on it). We had safety box in the room and clean towels ( but I prefer to bring my towels). Just hint: We sprayed our room with mosquito spray as a result no one mosquito bite that exceed my expectation ( We are very sensitive to the bites) Food: You can always find something to eat. Our menu: in the morning fresh made omelet and pancakes, lunch fresh made meat or hot dog in the snack bar, dinner fresh made shrimps, meat, fish. Not bad. You have option to visit 3 restaurants at night (we have visited Italian: it was good!). Service: The staff is very nice and friendly. Tips are optional! Almost all of them speak English ( no problems with it). I have read that a lot of people complained about toilet paper in the public washrooms (Yes, it is possible but at the end of the day, we just took Kleenex, so we did not have any problems at all). In the room we had the paper:) Beach towels: Had no problems to take fresh towels every day. One day the room was closed but I did not wait I just came next day in the morning and took the towels. Medical services: It happened with my daughter. They are perfect but you need to pay (then insurance will refund). Advil, tylenol (we brought with us) helped a lot, other medicine was prescribed. Bars: No complains! Tips can help but not necessary :) Animation:Shows for kids and adults every day. Some activities for kids during the day. Ping pong, billiard (old fashioned, need renovation on my opinion) but the kids were excited! If you want to play tennis bring your rackets. Pool: Clean! Kids have a lot of fun on the sliding! One complain: People are smoking everywhere! But I think it is common for all hotels! So have a wonderful vacations and be prepared: mosquito spray, sanitizer, and Kleenex will make your stay enjoyable. We took some medicine anti allergy, anti diarrhea that we did not use (but I suggest to bring them just in case). So have a nice vacation and do not be frustrated with negative reviews. Room hint: We loved blocks 15, 14, 11, 12 (around the pool) upper floor. Ocean view will be great!

Palma Real: Decent

This was a decent place to stay for the week. The location is right downtown which is nice for the nightlife especially. The water went out on us twice during our stay. After advising front desk that both elevators weren't working, we were assured that there would be a bellboy to help us with our luggage that next morning, on the day of checkout. Front desk even took our room number down. The next morning we rang for a bellboy and was assured that one was on the way. We had to call back twice. T [... read more]hen we get a call back saying there is no bellboy. We went to the lobby, carrying our luggage 4 floors down because no elevator was working of course. I was livid. Then the lady at front desk proceeds to tell us that we would be charged 20 Pecos per towel if we didn't show our green slip. So, i had to dig through the garbage just to find this paper even though when we returned our towels, the person working there wrote our room number down to show that we returned the towels. On top of that our first room had mold in it. I wouldn't come back to this resort.

Hotel Los Cactus: Good smaller resort

Property: The location of the hotel was very convenient for golf or reaching the village and the delightful Josone Park (quite walkable, by road or via the beach, but there is plenty of various types of transportation at 3-5 pesos). Greetings and check-in were pleasant. This is a compact hotel with reasonably well tended grounds, though it's a shame that the main buffet restaurant did not have an inspiring view, e.g. gardens/beach/sea, and the darkness in some areas of this large room was not in [... read more]viting. The lobby was small as was the attached (overworked|) bar and so not conducive to a larger gathering. The single pool has no swim-up bar and "unreserved" lounges were at a premium, however there was afternoon entertainment and activities. Room: Plenty of hot water and good pressure. We were told we could drink the water. We had a garden view suite which was clean, large with large balcony and quiet. It had two large closets but would have been a little better if there were more shelving/drawers. Services: The staff varied between appearing very happy and welcoming to those less motivated. In particular, we had sometimes very good and other times curt service at the front desk and the maid service could have been better. Serving staff were good and pleasant and the front line staff had good english, and from what I gathered, good french. The large buffet room (with small stage for evening shows) was not well laid out and the servers were kept running to cover the ground between the drinks bar and the tables. I was pleased to see that one day the hotel give a large party for the staff with food and entertainment in one corner of the property. The hotel did not seem to go that step further to achieve superior service, e.g. no refill of any room consumables (fridge or coffee/tea maker) and no apparent beach or pool assistance / service for lounges or drinks. It didn't help that the wi-fi wasn't working so we trekked to the nearby Bella Costa hotel to use it (when flight was delayed by 12 hours). In general, tips seemed expected. Entertainment: I can't comment on the disco - didn't go. The nightly shows in the buffet room or pool area were well done with the talented artistes working very hard. We particularly enjoyed the various excellent musical groups in the restaurants and buffet. Food: While the a la carte restaurants had nice ambiance and good service, the food was unexceptional. The buffet however was good with surprisingly tasty food served hot. The snack bar in the lobby only seemed to offer rather dry plain ham and cheese sandwiches. One of the outstanding areas was the (specialty) coffee bar which had excellent coffee and inviting surroundings. Overall: On re-reading this review, perhaps I've been over-critical as none of the criticisms really affected our very pleasant stay. Overall however: good location and grounds, very accessible beach, good food, good entertainment and mostly good service. I would certainly recommend it.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Nice Resort! Grounds are Beautiful!

Very nice resort with beautiful grounds that are well kept! Beach is amazing! The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to assist you. Rooms could use a little upgrading. Food not so great. Breakfast best meal of the day!

Memories Jibacoa: Beautiful Resort

Lovely surroundings !! The ocean view was spectacular. The hospitality amazing! Shows at this resort amazing. Buffet had a wide assortment of food to chose from. The pool and hot tub could have been warmer.

Melia Marina Varadero: Newer resort. One of the better resorts in Cuba

Service and staff were great. Resort well kept and very clean. This was amazing food for Cuba. The beach was across the street, but staff were always available to shuttle guests back and forth. We upgraded to "The Level", and it was worth every dime!

Grand Memories Varadero: We enjoyed our stay

Service was good. The buffet food wasn't great, but you could find decent food if you went to the cooking stations (pasta for dinner or omelette). We went to the Italian and Gourmet a la carte restaurants and those were both good. We saw a few of the shows at their theater, the dancing was very well done. The location is a little removed from Varadero, so it's around a $17 (CUC) cab ride to get into town if you want to go to a bar for the night.

Brisas Del Caribe: needs changes....

In renovation stages, has its downfalls, pina coladas r excellent....the food is what it is...their culture. I have stayed there 4 times & has a great beach. In spite of renovations it is not a dive...3 & half ***

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!

Lovely hotel , staff very friendly and helpful , food fresh and good flavor , junior suites very spacious and comfortable, great beach areas , in general a great place for a relaxing holiday, even though children are allow one hardly saw them , they had a great program for them and an awesome swimming pool for them .

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Fantastic Resort

First time to Cuba - very positive experience! Would definitely go back to the island and to this resort as well. All staff were so happy to share their culture as well as so helpful for anything we needed/asked about. Resort is very easy to get around in as all amenities are conveniently located. Buffet and a la cartes were tasty and the variety was great. Try this one out!

Resonance Blu Varadero: Nice resort, nice beach, a lot of walking.

If you don't like walking don't stay here! The resort was nice, we stayed in a suite by the beach and it was nice. food was just ok.. Bring ketchup. Beautiful beach! Entertainment was great! Bank was really slow, some of the women's washrooms didn't have toilet seats or sometimes toilet paper. We did have a great time though!

Starfish Varadero: Poor resort

Bungalow was good. But we did not have hot water the all week that we were there. We did a complaint but Nothing was done. When we arrive au the resort at 12:00pm the bungalow was not ready we havé the room at 5:00pm..for the food same food all week and cold. not enough désert for everyone. So for me Cuba is finish.

Barcelo Solymar: Very nice location and a very nice beach!!

One delihtful thing!! One morning a Colobri came flying to me on the 4th floor. The gardner who was watering the Plant Wall showed us the bird's nest. Every morning we had a pleasure of to find out if she was in or out!!! The best feature of this hotel is the food. so many variety and abundance. Nightly shows were very well done. It was good that we can use next door Arenas Blancas. I think that the maintenance of the building was rather poor .
