Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Worth going to

I was hesitant about Mexico, but the resort was GREAT. Food and Drink were plentiful and really good. Buffets were very good with a wide range of food offered. The Al a Carte resturants were very good. There are a few items that would need addressing by the hotel. One was their internal transportation service. It was lacking. There were trolleys about abut you had to wait along time for one to show up and there were very few pickup places. Secondly our room was a Jr. suite and very nice. Grounds were very tidy and the beach (a little coarse due to coral) were very nice . Lots of beach chairs I have stayed at other Bahia Resorts in the Dominican Republic but I prefer to stay here

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great vacation

The resort was lovely, lots of wildlife on the property (monkeys, deer, birds etc). The food was great, we tried all the restaurants and the food was great, no complaints. The beach is small, but we knew this before going. I loved the beach cove for snorkelling. Even though the beach was small, there were plenty of seats, we preferred the 2nd level. Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Good resort for my first time in Mexico

Hotel: clean, lots of fresh ocean breezes flushing through the main lobby. The buildings were repeating the motif of the local Mayan ruins (looked neat). Staff: in a word- helpful. Front end people had a good command of English and Vanny went out of her way to help us out. The maids had less English but even then were superb in doing their job. Only then did anything savoury and spicy start to show up. Complaints: Our arrival coincided with the end of a rain storm. We had a leak in the ceiling light fixture that filled 3/4 of the garbage can I put under it to collect the dripping. Just a little concerning to have running water and electricity meeting. Also, it seems there is a 2 tier class system at the resort. These with the grey bands and everyone else. If you are wearing the grey band (like me) you have to pay extra for internet and the safe in the room. No access to the French resteraunt (extra $$) as well. Overall: would I return to Mexico- yes. Would I return to the Sirenis Riviera Maya- probably not

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Amazing resirt

Wow wow wow! My husband & I booked last minute and yes we paid a bit more than we had wanted but after 7 days it was worth every penny. The staff bent over backwards for you. The food was awesome. We had massages in the Spa: thank you Rosa & Diana..awesome. The property was impeccable and was easy walking; not so large and spread out like some other resorts we have stayed at that would take you 20 minutes just to get to the beach or you would have to use a tram to get around. Did I mention quiet [... read more], this resort hides people so well. You will always have a good lounger to Sun on be it at the pool or beach. And bring your babies and kids. The resort is very kid friendly from the funky play area to the kids menu and they even have Gerber baby food in the buffet. I can't say enough about Azul Five except that our next visit will be longer...

Selection Riviera Cancun: Great Family Resort

A great resort, catering especially to families. Big enough to provide all facilties, but not so big that it is onerous to get around. They pride themselves on service and do a wonderful job making everyone feel welcome and pampered. I would easily recommend this to firends of family members.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Nice resort for the price

Nice resort, very clean rooms, good food. Weather was ok, could have been a touch warmer but good enough. Only complaint is that its far from airport, 2hr drive. Not ideal if travelling with kids. Otherwise the resort represents excellent value.

Allegro Playacar: Wonderful Experience

Great resort...people very friendly. Not too much traffic which made my vacation a treat..very relaxing. The beach was awesome...great white sand and not overcrowded. The pool area immaculate including washrooms...staff very friendly! The buffet was excellent with a different experience each nite..food excellent although more seafood would have been appreciated. Special thanks to Freddy and Fidel who went out of their way to make our buffet dinners fun, enjoyable and memorable. I found the rooms [... read more] to be outdated and a bit musty and moldy but the cleaning staff were excellent each day in the upkeep of them. An overall great experience.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Exceptional resort. Very clean and well maintained

Staff very friendly. Good variety of food. Cleanliness over the whole resort was exceptional. Entertainment shows was varied and all where excellent. We wish all entertainment shows were held in the theatre not the main bar which has limited seating and poor visibility.

Allegro Playacar: Great 2 Week Vacation

Amazing resort. Everything was awesome from the food to the staff. Hard working people made our vacation one to remember. They provide excellent entertainment at the pool, beach and evening stage. The Bar Staff are also exceptional. They are quick to remember what you like. The beach was gorgeous, very clean. The rooms are compact and there is no dresser. There are shelves to store your clothing which was adequate. Beds are hard, but with a topper it was fine. Not every minute of every day is pe [... read more]rfect but all in all there is nothing worth complaining about. Your time is what you make of it. Our room was upstairs with a thatched roof. This means you are going to hear the birds in the morning and they can be loud. It is only a 20 minute walk to town or 3 - 4 minutes the other way to the Playacar mall. Over the 2 weeks we walked to 5th av. 5 times. We enjoyed the evening in town over the day trips (more relaxed and lot's of entertainment) Shopping was better just off 5th av. as well as the food. I recommend you seek out Los Aguachiles restaurant on Calle 34 between 5th and 1st on the left side. They served the best seafood taco's I have ever had and at the best price.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Amazing family resort!

My husband and 2 daughters and I spent 9 nights feb8-17 and had a fantastic time! stayed in a deluxe room and was very comfortable, room was cleaned everyday and our girls looked forward to the new towel animals everyday. Food was adequate, lots of choices. Had no trouble booking restaurants for dinner, Japanese was our favorite, very entertaining! Grounds are amazing and beautiful! Beach was great, it is rocky but we wore water shoes and found a clearing to play in, so was not an issue. Heidi o [... read more]ur waitress at the beach was the best! Thank you! Kids loved all the animals, the water park was so much fun, even for my 11 year old. The nightly entertainment was really great, we went most nights and everyone was entertained. Jesus took us on a romantic boat ride, very nice would recommend it for sure. The kids club looked really good, only took our kids once because there was so much to do and I liked having our family all together. Overall we had a fantastic time, so much to do. This is not a super luxurious resort if that's what your looking for, but a great place for families to relax and have fun, we would definetely return!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: fabulous, fabulous, fabulous

everything was outstanding: service, food, beach, entertainment. The only complaint I may have is that not all staff spoke English and sometimes hard to communicate but all else was excellent. I'd highly recommend it. Oh, another drawback is that it's a little far from Cancun airport but I hear an airport in Tulum is going in! One more: I caught a virus and i think it's from the circulating air from A/C, I'm very healthy person and had no reason to be sick during holidays.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Excellent stay

We stayed at the Palace Deluxe and it seemed to be superior to the other 4 hotels in the complex. Of course it was the most expensiveness well. The grounds appeared more spacious and more grand.The a la carte restaurants were excellent. We did not try the restaurants in the other hotels and so I cannot say that they were definitely better. All the service staff were very friendly and attentive. My only complaint was that the front desk staff did not seem as well trained as the service staff. On  [... read more]more than one occasion I received conflicting replies to my enquiries. When I enquired about booking for the future one staff told me that the room will cost a certain amount per day, regardless of the number of people, which was of course not true. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend it to our friends.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Great family resort.

This is a resort for families with small children. Rooms are quite large, food is good, entertainment also good. It is a large property but very easy to navigate. There is a lazy river which was a hit with my six year old. The dolphin tank on the resort is fantastic. Do try and do a swim with the dolphins. It's amazing. The beach is rocky and protected by a couple of coves. Water is farely calm, reefs within 30 feet of the shore. Lots of marine life, turtles, stingrays. However very rocky, bring [... read more] your water shoes! Did in fact see three people with medics for sea urchin needles in feet! Also the beach wreaked havoc on everyones pedicures! Lol. Overall would recommend this hotel for families with small children.

Grand Riviera Princess: Just another resort

Expansive and well kept grounds. Nice 10-12 min walk from the beach to the main reception area. Shuttle every 15 min available. I would only recommend this resort with the Platinum upgrade which gives you accommodations near the beach which provides the following: server in assigned beach area, platinum lounge with snacks and better alcohol selections, free wifi in building and rooms and access to unlimited themed restaurants with reservations. The breakfast buffet is good while the lunch/dinner [... read more] buffet is average at best. The themed restaurants were excellent! The staff service is excellent and a touch of humour from some of them. I wasn't thrilled with the nightly entertainment but passes the time for some craving some activities. The beach area is very rocky and folks are crammed like sardines. They also offer a buffet style lunch all afternoon serving hot dogs, hamburgers, salsa and some type of wrap at times.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Fabulous Resort!

We stayed for 2 weeks from Feb. 5 - 19, 2015. This was my first trip to Mexico in 25 years but my girlfriend has been many times. To be quick, I'd come back in a heartbeat. The food was amazing. There are 7 ala carte restaurants, and we went to all of them. The Brazilian Rodizio is a must for meat eaters (and the only one you have to make a reservation for, which in our case had to be the next day). They slice the meat off these huge skewers right at your table, so go hungry and help yourself. [... read more] The Steak House and the Asiana are in the main lobby area as well as the Brazilian place, and those were both delicious. Down in the centre square is the Il Piemonte Italian Restaurant which is great for pasta lovers, and our 2 favourites, the Mexican and the French Restaurants. We ate at the Mexican twice and the French 3 times (order the Filet Mignon, it melts in your mouth, and the baked Alaska for dessert where they flambe it at your table). The Festival House is there too for a different themed buffett every night, and the Iztalapala down by the beach serves Mediterranean each night. The staff were absolutely wonderful. There were so many who's names we have forgotten who deserved a shout out, but just know that we were treated with the utmost courtesy by 100% of those we interacted with. In the main square is a stage for a different themed live show every night. Wednesday nights are Mexican nights and the decorations are vivid, and local vendors set up in rows for all your trinkets. Our only complaint were the beds. Not very comfortable at all, so if you find the mattress too hard, call for a mattress softener which although not great, will help a little bit. The higher end rooms have better mattresses but they are further from the beach. And the beach, wow! Huge beach with soft sand and the water goes out quite a way before it gets deep. They have beach volleyball, Zumba classes every day and assorted other activites at regular intervals along the beach. All the lounge chairs are set up amongst the palm trees so you can catch a bit of shade there are take them out in the open. There is snorkeling and kayaks which I believe are free, and also jet skis and various excursions for a cost. There's plenty of room around the main pool and a smaller section for the little kids. They have aerobic classes and Bingo everyday (I won a T-shirt!) All in all a fabulous resort which I would heartily recommend to anyone.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Fantastic resort

This is a wonderful resort. The resort grounds were beautiful. The beach was wonderful (nice sand, clear water, nice waves, even we even fed some fish). Service was very good and the staff were all friendly. The food was great.

Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel: Book it!

My wife I and stayed at the Blue Diamond, Feb 12 to 19. We booked this resort after my wife visited it on another trip to Mexico in January. Book this resort if you want a totally stress free vacation - quiet, zen-like, amazing architecture and beautiful grounds, outstanding food. Everything is first class and first rate. The staff are helpful, friendly and you'll feel like they are part of your 'family' by the time you leave. Pro tip: No reservations required for the restaurants. Make use of [... read more] the soaker tubs outside your room and spas facilities and pools are amazing. Do NOT book this resort if you are seeking a party, be entertained or drink excessively. We'll definitely be returning.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing Family Reunion at Grand Sirenis!!

when I first arrived I wasn't sure I was going to like this resort as it looks very different from all the other resorts I have been to but I am so glad to say that my opinion quickly changed. We were a group of 23 from all across Canada coming for a family reunion - we couldnt have asked for a better vacation spot - the resort is very large but once you learn your way around it makes all the difference. Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Almost perfect

Everything, food, beach , room, service, drinks were great except for 2 issues. The first is the rooms that are facing the mangrove- it's smells of sewage at times. The second problem is shortage of umbrella on the beach and people leaving to towels to reserve the pool and beach chairs. The hideaway section (adults only) is way too crowded, more so than the family section.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Barcelo Maya Beach - Overall Good Hotel!

Overall the hotel was beautiful. An older hotel that seems to be doing their best to upgrade and keep up with the times. Always well kept grounds, very clean and generally appealing. Lots for everyone to do. We had an 11 year old that enjoyed finding seashells on the beach, splashing in the big pool, playing chess, basketball, paddle tennis, bowling and billiards and watching the dolphins. We didn't find the bowling or arcade as reasonable. $12 US per person to bowl one game seemed expensive to us. But we still had lots of fun doing it. Rooms were clean, well stocked and comfortable. However the bathrooms don't seem to have fans which can make for a very humid room after 2 or 3 showers! Pools are huge and clean. Lots of chairs for everyone. Beach was amazing! Clean, spacious, long for walking on and full of things to see. Our only real disappointment was the food. This is our 5th time to Mexico and we usually always enjoy the food. However this resort seems to do the same foods over and over again, not really changing anything up. Need a bit more variety. Lots of walking as it is a big complex but always good after all the food or drink you consume in a day (even if its not the best!) ;) Overall we had a wonderful stay!
