Excellence Punta Cana: Excellente Resort

The Excellence Punta Cana has beautiful grounds with lush greenery and flowers.The room was great with a comfortable bed and a large jacuzzi tub. The balcony had a nice view of palm trees and flowers. The bathroom was more than adequate with a large shower and two sinks. The food was very good, a little bland at times, but quality. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. Only downfalls were: an unexpected $22 charge for a two minute local call, and the Excellence website lists a 30 [... read more] minute included horse back ride, which no longer exists. Overall a 4.5 out of five for us!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Good value

Grounds: clean, well kept. Rooms: large rooms with beautiful balconeys, comfortable beds, clean, everything well functioning ( AC, washrooms) Dining: the buffet has a good food selection. It would be nice to have more fruit selection. A la carte: we tried the Mexican restaurant and both the salmon and the beef were very tasty. Entertainment: good quality. Ocean: for those who like to swim in the Ocean, the waters a bit rough with high waves and strong currents but still an enjoyable experience.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Very nice resort

The resort is beautifully designed and well-kept. The food is excellent and staff are friendly. Not so much to do on this island, the resort is the only structure.... This resort is for you if you're looking for: total relax, with good food, the drinks and the beautiful grounds. 1. Wi-Fi in each room worked well most of the times. 2. Lots of shade on the beach. 3. Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great

Blau Natura Park Resort: Quiet and Relaxing Resort

The resort was very well maintained and clean. The beach is extensive and staff are constantly working to clear it of sea grass. As it is an Eco-Resort, there are numerous bird species which reside in and around the many ponds on site. Flamingos and peacocks roam freely throughout the resort. I would suggest the "SELECT" upgrade as it does provide a few perks, not to mention premium drinks. This also provides a newly renovated room. Meals were varied and well prepared. The buffet always had a v [... read more]ariety of foods. I was somewhat disappointed in having Budweiser beer in our room mini bar. The other drawback was having to fly through Punta Cana airport. On our return trip, we were three hours checking in for boarding passes, clearing security and immigration. Having flown Sunwing Airlines seems to be the problem as they had numerous flights destined for Canadian cities within a short period of time. Other airline check-ins were less crowded. In all, Blau Natura is a wise choice for a beautiful relaxing holiday.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Never again!

The resort needs some major work done such as tile in the pool is missing and also on the decking. The mattresses need to be replaced as ours was rock hard. Door keys were probably fixed daily which was aggravating. The food was not good, there wasn't a variety. The worst we the 2 cockroaches we found in our room. Because of this we would not go back.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Beautiful Resort!

It was my first time, and my husbands 5th time, visiting the DR. This resort was honestly wonderful! Food was good, staff were great, lots to do!! They had dancing performances every night which were awesome! A ton of stuff to do on a beautiful resort!

Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Good time despite few problems.

We stayed with family at Turquesa . Previously had visited with friends and stayed at Ambar. Unfortunately great difference in cleanliness, maid service (no hand towels or washcloths or bathmat. Just bare minimum of towels. We had broken plug so no tub available despite reporting it. Great food and staff far outweighed any problems or complaints. Will return but definitely to Ambar area.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Vacationing Vegetarian with allergies!

As a vegetarian and someone allergic to fish and peanuts, I was very concerned after eating at the buffet and the Italian restaurant at the beginning. The dishes I could eat were mixed amongst dishes containing meat and fish and furthermore, they shared serving utensils. Customer Relations gave me cards, explaining my restrictions in English and in Spanish, for each of my restrictions which I was to provide to waiters at future visits. I did this at the Japanese restaurant and Chef Jose far  [... read more]exceeded my expectations. He came by and ensured he understood all of my restrictions and prepared an exquisite 5 course meal for me which took my restrictions under strict consideration. He personally explained each of them to ensure they were appropriate. Not only were they appropriate but they were delicious! Rosio then ensured this type of service was carried through at other restaurants. She was wonderful. Raw tofu was added to the buffet offerings and placed in the cheese area with a sign that read “tofu cheese”. This was very thoughtful but the buffet chefs need to be educated on what tofu is; it is not a cheese and it should be cooked to minimize the chance of bacteria growth. I am writing this for the Chic hotel owner to read. I truly believe they want to understand and improve as this is exactly how I saw them react to my concerns and struggles, with being a vegetarian with restrictions, at the beginning. I suggest all chefs be trained to better understand and learn what vegetarianism is and how to accommodate with flavorful dishes. Chef Jose may be the perfect trainer, as I suspect, he knows the most about the topic. Like I have seen at other resorts, the owners may want to consider setting aside an area in the buffet for vegetarian/vegan dishes. They may also consider not sharing serving utensils between dishes. The staff did accommodate me though when I requested a clean serving utensil. If you go to this resort and are a vegetarian or a vegan, ask for Chef Jose and/or Rosie. I am not commenting on anything else as I will let others do so. We did have a great vacation and did like the Chic resort!

Excellence Punta Cana: very nice resort

We had a wonderful week at Excellence Punta Cana. The beach was fantastic, the food and drinks very good and the entertainment was amazing! The Tapas restaurant and the Japanese grill were especially good.The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. They had a lovely Dominican night with bands and food but sadly it was not attended well by the guests. The drink service on the beach was really nice...and the beach BBQ hut had different items every day. Beach beds were very comfortable.

Lifestyle Residence Suites: Lifestyle Residence Suites

I just got back January 12th and I am not a fan. There are way too many stairs everywhere in the complex that is made up of many Hotels. You need to take the shuttle bus everywhere because there is only one bar at the Lifestyle Residence Suites where I stayed, and it is the pool bar that is only open from 10 to 5. There is a very small buffet for breakfast and lunch but it is an Al a Carte restaurant at night, so you have to shuttle to one of the buffets at one of the other hotels. The beach is  [... read more]a 10 minute shuttle ride away, and then you do a whole bunch of stairs down to find the beach.There is no snack bar restaurant in any of the hotels in the complex. If you want to sit at a bar and have a few drinks after supper; you guessed it, no bar at Lifestyle Residence Suites so off on the shuttle you go. I spent more time on the shuttles than anything else. This is all so a members complex, and you will be lied to when someone will ask you if you need a ride somewhere, and then they take you to the sales office to try and sell you a membership instead of where you were going. There are a lot VIP beaches, restaurants, world, and much more that if you are not a member you do not have access to. What they advertise is the VIP beach and other VIP amenities that you do not have access to on any of the travel websites, so beware. You are not getting what is advertised. I will be booking at a small 1 hotel complex my next trip and will not be back to Lifestyle Residence Suites.

Riu Republica: Not a 5 Star!

We found this resort to be too big, too crowded and very noisy. Generally a younger crowd that liked to party 24/7. The resort itself is well maintained and only a few years old. Food was generally poor and the so-called specialty restaurants were mainly buffets which specialized food dishes. The beach is great with miles of soft sand however, during our 10 day stay there were rough seas virtually every day. With a few exceptions, the staff was not that engaging with the guests. Overall,it wo [... read more]uld be a generous to even classify the resort as a 4 star. Would not return to this resort and would also not recommend it to others.

: Will be better in the future

My wife and I stayed for a week in early January. The hotel is not entirely ready, and some of the infrastructure is lacking. For example, we were without hot water for 4 days. The beach and pool areas are very nice, and the service was excellent; however, the food was very average, bland and unimaginative comparatively speaking from other Dominican resorts we have visited. Riu Bambu: Good overall

We have been to Riu Bambu Punta Cana from Dec. 21st to Dec 28th, 2017. Overall, the hotel was good: the room was very comfortable, quiet and very clean. The service at the restaurant was very good. Food quality and diversity at the buffet was good. The only critic I would have is regarding the food at the “A la carte” restaurants: it was a bit disappointing. Other than that, we had a nice stay.

Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Beautiful

Perfect place. Beautiful grounds, manicured edges and luscious trees and flowers. Good food, very nice and inviting restaurants with exceptional servers. Room service very disappointing: no change of linen, dirty floors, poor lighting and an unacceptable lack of towels. Have stayed at a different part of resort previously and our experience had been fenomenal!

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Room issues - more like 4 star

Grounds were beautiful and well kept. There were always workers maintaining the gardens. No garbage on resort and beach was kept clean. Beach is over crowded and mid January waves are rough. Beach is public so you WILL be harassed multiple times to buy things (cigars, souvenirs etc). We stayed at Ambar Green, room 71106 right beside buffet. Air conditioning didn’t work well and leaked water down ceiling. I ended up slipping on water that dripped onto the floor. We called 4 times to have th [... read more]e problem fixed. Because of the water damage, the room smells strongly of Mold and we slept in wet sheets and our clothes felt damp. We were finally moved to the newer part of the resort that was renovated by ambar green pool on our fifth night. Our new room was 80109 which turned out to be a beautiful room, Mold free, and icy cold air. However, water happened to start water falling through the light in the ceiling right below the air conditioner. Surprised? No. It wasn’t even worth it to move rooms again as it was our last day now. On a good note, the maids did a wonderful job, however, we did tip well. The buffet service was incredible. It was like they watched you put your empty glass down and they were right there pouring you a new drink. The food was alright but I thought the food in the Bahia principe in Puerto Plata was much better and that was a 4star. I lived off the papaya which was incredible and the pineapple was so sweet. There was a gross sewage smell coming through the drains and toilets throughout the hotel which is unappealing. I personally found the resort to be too big. It seemed we had to take a taxi ride (golf cart ride) everywhere we went in the resort (beach, pool, restaurants). I found the beach to be overly crowded. The buffet at ambar blu, staff was rude and service was awful. Tried Italian a la carte, nothing special. Caribbean same thing. But again, I wasn’t a big fan of the food. When the staff warns you about their island shooter mama huana, believe them. Don’t do too many of those shots. They are blackout material haha! Seems like all the bartenders try to get the guests wasted because they pour a lot of booze in the drinks which can be good or bad.... All in all, I’d give this a fair 4star. Had a good time but wouldn’t return.

Vista Sol Punta Cana: Amazing Resort!

Very nice resort. Our room was amazing!!!! Very clean. and close to the pool. The food was good especially at the Sports Bar. The nachos and the chicken were amazing. The bartenders at the swim up bar were not very friendly and not very talkative. It was nice to see the peacocks walking around.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: ENJOYABLE VACATION

I am not sure what I was expecting but was quite pleased with the accommodation - rooms were spacious and comfortable, the buffet was a challenge for me as I am allergic to shellfish and do not eat meat - I did manage on the second day to chat with the Maitre d who thereafter assisted me in finding and having the chef make me different fish dishes (as I was not sure what sauces and additives were in the existing pre-made foods) The salads often had crab legs or seafood sauces. The only issue I feel needs a bit of correcting was the disconnect with the Transat rep at the hotel and the actual things getting done. Times were always off. I definitely would consider another visit to Punta Cana. JACK AT TRAVEL CENTRAL WAS VERY GOOD AT HIS JOB AND I ENJOYED DEALING WITH HIM

Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Great entertainment, restaurant & pool staff

The best thing about this resort is the staff. The pool area is great, but the rooms are not very clean or well stocked. Bugs everywhere- including in the beds! The floors in the villas are unswept, no shades on the lamps, and half the times the door keys don’t work!

Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Fabulous Resort

This resort was absolutely gorgeous the grounds are some of the nicest I’ve ever seen. The rooms were nice although we had a few issues in ours but nothing that would affect our stay. Water park and pools were amazing. Staff for the most part was very helpful. Plenty of entertainment to keep busy at night. Buffet and a la carte restaurants were great Japanese was our favourite. On a side note we travelled in a group with a child under 2 and she contracted hand, foot and mouth. I do think the  [... read more]cleaning practices of high chairs in buffet and restaurants should be reviewed as many children we found out had the disease. Overall this was an excellent choice for our first stay in the Dominican. We are already talking of another trip to the same resort next year.
