Barcelo Maya Tropical: Amazing resort

This resort did not disappoint. Beautiful, excellent food, clean. Lots to do on and off the resort. Highly recommend. We played mini golf, spent a couple of hours at the U spa which was amazing. They offer 40 percent off in the first 48 hours of arrival. Take advantage of it. You won't regret it. The shows were fantastic. Couldn't believe the quick changes into the elaborate costumes. It's like its own little village. You never have to leave and we didn't.

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Great trip

Great service throughout! Great food it plenty of variety. Good entertainment and fun games at the main pool daily. Would recommend to anyone who likes laid back, relax time in the sun. More for couples less for families.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Great vacation

Amazing vacation stayed in the adults only ,nothing to complain about. Would go back and we highly recommend .Loved seeing the animals they are quite entertaining.Drinks and service are amazing food in the buffet is a Hit or miss

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Lovely Resort

Stayed for a week with friends. Beautiful modern clean resort. Rooms are huge and well equipped. Lots of food options and access to the 5 family resorts located on the property. Staff were friendly and helpful. Worth the extra to book oceanfront rooms with beautiful views of water and sunrise. Only thing that could be improved is the a la carte booking process. All manual, could be done online. Info about entertainment, resort activities, buffet opening times, bar opening times etc  [... read more]could be available on one app if developed to avoid a lot of wasted time. All that info is in different places and spend a lot of time looking for it if you are a first time visitor.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Very good overall, but a few minor issues....

The hotel and property are quite nice and well maintained. No concerns with cleanliness or safety. But I do have a couple of comments about things that could definitely be improved. 1. Beach chairs and pool side seating: it seems that the ratio of people to available seating is way too high. You end up with people "reserving" lounges with towels at 7 am, and then not showing up to use them until several hours later, despite signage stating that chairs can't be reserved. This should be policed b [... read more]y resort staff, and not left to individuals to work out. We were involved in one confrontation caused by this. 2. Restaurant reservations: we had a group of 10, and it was impossible to get a reservation unless you got on the app at 12:01 am. And then go the restaurant which is fully booked, only to find that it's half empty. I saw this several times. Other than those things, it was very nice.

The Beachfront by the Fives Hotel: This is an amazing resort!

We had a fantastic time at The Beachfront by the Fives! Super relaxing environment. The staff is amazing and the food is superb. It is so great that after we got home, we booked a return trip in 6 months! Can't wait to return!

Grand Sunset Princess: Excellent resort!

It is the best resort we have experienced so far. Many pools, lots of shade and beach chairs. The wildlife within the resort was very entertaining (deer,monkeys,raccoons). Food and hotel rooms very good. The only downfall to the resort is lots of walking and lots of stairs so as long as you enjoy walking (which we did) , its fine. For elderly, wheelchairs or baby strollers maybe not the ideal resort.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: A slice of paradise!

The resort surpassed our expectations. From the moment we arrived and 8 days later, we were impressed with the consistency of all staff, cleanliness in all areas and the sense of relaxation the resort provided. Our room was very comfortable in a quiet area surrounded with palm trees. The 6 restaurants were very good with excellence in service and a nice variety of food. There were always plenty to choose from. The beach was well maintained by the resort and you can enjoy a nice leisure walk in both directions. Yoga on the beach is offered 3 times a week and the instructor was excellent. We didn’t want to leave!

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Fantastic resort!

First off the people that work here are so friendly, helpful and appreciative of a small tip. Not saying this because it makes up for other shortcomings as everything is truly is top notch at this resort. We have been to over 20 all inclusive resorts over the years and this has to be one of the best experiences we have had. The restaurants and bars all appear to have been recently updated and are unique and beautiful. The bars are well staffed and you hardly wait for a drink at any of them. They also all seem to be happy to make specialty drinks upon request and do it well. The public bathrooms are all updated and kept very clean which is a bonus. Lazy river is also a nice touch. Beach is sandy until you get to the water and then there is coral so water shoes might be recommended for kids but overall it is very scenic and relaxing. Rooms were spacious and comfortable as well. The resort is spread out but we like to get some steps in so that was not an issue for us, you can also get a ride on the golf carts pretty much anywhere which is an option. Overall truly a 5 star experience, wish it was closer to the airport but definitely worth it and will likely head back here before trying another resort as you cannot beat it as far as bang for your buck!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Loved this resort!

We really enjoyed our stay, nothing bad to say about this resort the staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Was Very clean lots of choices for food that was absolutely amazing! And the 24/7 room service was a bonus. I rated the beach a 4 only because of the seaweed but the resort works continually trying to remove it.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Barcelo Mayan Riviera March 2025

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. There was a nice variety of food every day at the buffets. I enjoyed the coffee machines. The beach was very good for kids. The pools were warm. Hard to get into the restaurants that required booking with our group of 7. Also getting a beach chair was challenging- had to reserve very early in the morning.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Big Disappointment

We chose a hotel chain we have come to really like and returned to its few properties many times over the years. The most important thing for us was the amazing food in the many a la carte restaurants that was patented as "Gourmet all Inclusive." But not any more. Only two specialty restaurants that you need to make a reservation for and the rest of the buffets are pretty mediocre and most breakfasts that could be ordered off a menu came cold and we sent back till after a two more tries they f [... read more]inally cooked . Absolutely pathetic and disappointing. We will never return to any El Dorado properties in the future. This is no fault of trip central, we chose the hotel. Trip central, as always, were efficient and prompt; a well oiled machine with a very knowledgeable staff.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Alright resort personally would not return.

Staff were alright ... so make you feel very uncomfortable and rude. Beach was a mess. Did travel to the lagoon very nice watch for rocks. 2 people ended up very sick from the food. Ended up with a bill for 100 American because someone got sick in our room from food poisoning and got a little bit of voimit on the sheets which is absolutely ridiculous ? it was the size of a quarter. Resort is very nice. And drinks very good. Night life is good till about 1am. I wouldn't return. Was s [... read more]cared to eat or drink to much. Cause of the charge on the second day. Heard lots of stories while on vacation and many not so good. Also think our daughter got a concussion from the sunwing drivers on our way to resort from not slowing down for speed bumps and holes in the road got to the resort and her forehead was all cut up from cracking her head on the bus so many times. Thats also could have help with her being sick the first night along with the food.

Allegro Playacar: Much Needed Vacay!

This cute little resort is tucked away in a charming, gated Suburb Playacar. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, food was always fresh and delicious. Their meal times were lengthy to give all guests a chance to dine. Pools were clean and refreshing with plenty of loungers-all in perfect condition. The grounds are beautiful and exciting to see local wildlife - the Coatl, the Agouti and many lizards. Found it intriguing that there is a staff who carries a falcon around to scare away the pesty bl [... read more]ack birds. The rooms had a comfy hammock and 2 chairs to lounge on the porch. Inside was cozy but not a lot of space to put away luggage. Big screen tv with lots of English channels. Beds were firm with lots of pillows. The sink and mirror was outside the bathroom which was handy for 2 sisters travelling together. The bathroom was clean and had a shower only - unfortunately very low water pressure and virtually no hot water. Varied activities in the pool, my favourite was the Mariachi band - they were fantastic! There was a movie and a show almost every night - my favourite was the Michael Jackson tribute. I didn't make it to the little Discotech. The beach had an abundance of loungers. The 1st day water was quite choppy and there was a lot of seaweed on the shore but we braved the waters anyway. The rest of the time, beach was gorgeous and we could walk very far out enjoying the gentle roll of the waves. Just a 2 minute walk down the street was a great outdoor shopping mall, with lots of vendors and even a Starbucks. Playa Del Carmen is only about 10min drive away....taxi charged us 300 MXN Pesos each way which we thought was expensive but we enjoyed shopping on '5th Avenue'. We booked our own excursion through the Air Transat app, with Viator Tours, to Chichen Itza, Valladolid and Cenote Chichikan for $160 CDN each. Included all transportation, entrance to all, a buffet lunch and Tequila taste testing. Other excursions I've been on we were provided drinks on the bus - water and usually a shot of tequila, unfortunately none were provided. We really enjoyed ourselves (myself, sister, brother, sister-in-law, adult nephew). There's a good possibility my sister and I will be back next year!

Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel: Great relaxing vacation

I loved the quaintness of this hotel. Small number of rooms, great beach, beautiful infinity pool looking out into the ocean and outstanding service by staff. Very surprised at the great quality of food...not always so in my other all inclusive. Would definitely return.

Ocean Maya Royale: Great resort!

We travelled to this resort March 16-23. Check in with Privilege was wonderful. Our room in the Privilege room was beautiful. We had a butler who looked after all of our dinner reservations. The food was very good. We had our own private beach and restaurant which was very convenient and quiet. The resort is small compared to other properties, so great for getting from place to place. There are steps leading up to the lobby, but there is a golf cart, if needed. All the employees were wonderf [... read more]ul and helpful with any questions or concerns. The only glitch was the private transportation booked to and from the hotel and the 2 hour delay flying home. All was resolved. It was a very relaxing week.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Paradisiac and Wonderful Place!!

This hotel left us ALL in awe. We came in a group of about 30 people for a destination wedding. All of us were amazed at the high quality of the food served, of the high cleaning standards, to the unforgettable and constant smiles of servers, dancers, actors, employees at the Reception desk, at the points of sale. From the personnel washing the floors and the walls (!) of hallways at 6 am in the morning, to the dedicated people collecting seaweed on a daily basis.... Zero defects. Simply amazing. I haven't stopped giving all my praises to your wonderful Barcelo Maya Tropical. You make Mexico great! You've got my 5 Michelin stars for all of you in the blink of an eye. Felicitaciones!!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: 3.5 stars - poor a la carte restaurant system, rooms need updating and cart service could be improved

Pros: a lot of restaurants to choose from if booked at Akumal luxury resort staff was 99% great and friendly smaller 3 story complexes which makes it more quiet in rooms a/c worked great in our room kids waterslides at Coba resort great for kids 3-12 decent amount of shade and trees throughout a good part of property room service can be done through app and arrives within 40 minutes night entertainment, especially music, very good for family to enjoy local music/bands we had a lot of ch [... read more]oice of fruits at buffets and even a gluten free bread option available Cons: even though a la carte restaurant offers a lot of choice, if you aren't aware you can book 10 days before your arrival, you will have a lot of trouble finding a restaurant to book which then disappoints paying the extra cash to stay at Akumal versus other properties as Akumal is only one giving you 1 a la carte reservation per night while other resorts (Coba and Tulum) offer 2 reservations per week a la carte restaurants show as full on app but between 17:30-19:00 often just 20-30 people out of capacity of 100+. We were told this is because people don't cancel their reservations which sounds like bs as I don't see 80% of people not cancelling there reservations. We were told you can take a chance at a restaurant and walk in and see if the hostess will allow you or you can ask customer experience (desk near lobby) to see if they can work some magic. Still inconvenient when you pay extra for a la carte. Big miss here for a la carte restaurant reservations. the cart service to travel can be good but if you go to Tulum resort, expect to wait 15 minutes for a cart to get back to Akumal or Coba resort can be a lot of walking if you aren't able to catch a cart to drive you which isn't ideal with smaller kids heard a lot of complaints about beach being rocky can get some waiters in a la carte restaurants who disappear for a while which makes dining experience longer than it should be our bathroom was dated. mirrors were stained and tub/shower was needing some uplift. beds were hard and pillows we had a lot but all worn out were your head just goes right through it For Akumal luxury resort, I give this a 3.5 stars due to extra money you pay for a la carte reservations which you are entitled to 1 per night versus 2 per week at other properties at resort. If you can't get in restaurants, why pay more? Also the cart service can be an issue depending where you want to go. Rooms need some updating.
