Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: great vacation at Bahia Principe Luxury Sian Ka'an
We really have nothing but great things to say about this resort. We wish we would have had more than 8 days.
The food, staff and grounds were all great. Shout out to the entertainment staff, they were all friendly and not too pushy if you didn't want to participate.
make sure you book your ala carte reservations early, but the buffet is great too.
We can't wait to go back
The grounds are beautifully maintained. The staff are very friendly and helpful but sometimes difficult to understand because we only speak English. The pools are very nice. Glad there was an option for a "quiet" pool for relaxing. The room was nice. The only complaint was the air conditioner was very loud, couldn't be turned up or down and the room maintained a "dampness" that never went away (towels, bathing suits never dried). The food was excellent. The Italian and Mediterranean a la [... read more]carte restaurants were favorites.
The beach wasn't one of the best. Water shoes are recommended.
Overall a good experience

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Good Resort but Not "Luxury"
Hotel was comfortable able but calling it luxury is a stretch. The entire experience was good, I got what I paid for but if they keep cutting all the little things it will really start to show. Staff are excellent. Pools in jungle are nice. Beach is a disappointment. Drinks lack alcohol to the point it's unclear if they added any. Food is decent but not spectacular. Luxury is in the name but not in what's delivered.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Use to be great, but even the sand has gone!
The grounds are very nice, well kept! The rooms have seen better days, cleaning was not very good. Service was slow not like it use to be, had to get your drinks most of the time yourself. Very hard to get reservations for dinner, all booked up unless you want a 9 o'clock dinner. Was told to book them online , but that would not work for a lot of people we talked to. The construction was loud and dusty, did not know it was going on before we booked. Lobby's bathroom ceiling was falling down and[... read more] water dropped on my head from the pipes! This was our forth trip and don't think we would go again.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Great Resort
Great food, spotless rooms, beautiful beach and pools. The resort is not new but very well maintained. Our group did have issues with room key cards not working multiple times. This was a hassle as the trip back to the main lobby to get new key cards for our rooms was not short. When you are ready to head back to your room to have a shower before dinner or to turn in for the night a trip back to the lobby to get access to your room is not welcomed.
I had been to this complex twice before and it had changed into complete craphole. Uncomfortable beds, cleaning stuff that cleans room only if its convinient for them, cart drivers that only stop on their stops and will ride past you even if you flag them unless you are a cute columbian girl or one of their buddies. then they can stop in the middle of a route and spend 5 minutes chit chatting with them with people in the cart waiting. Rude jaded stuff at the restaurant and bars, a reception d[... read more]esk that does nothing to fix issues unless you come to the lobby and start very noisy scandal. Absolutely attrocious food that had poisoned my family and we spent 1 week of 2 going back and forward to the hospital to deal with major food poisonning, both my kids and my wife had to be hospitalized with iv and it costed 6k+ usd to my travel insurance.
Beach was ok but it was full of sand flies that covered legs of people with hundreds of red wounds. Pool was ok, but a lot of tiles were broken off on the bottom and my kids cut their feet on sharp edges and had to walk with bandaids for a day.
Hotel had 2 working coffee machines, ones where you hit button and get automatic coffee. No expresso bars anywhere. Forget about fancy latte or anything else along those lines in a country where they grow coffee. Aparently thats too much to ask. A buffet only has a couple types of tea. They serve coffee only at breakfast. They will not bring you coffee any other time. And of cause, no decaff...
To make things even worse, they had very bad free wifi which pretty much make you buy paid package which promisses up to 9 devices access to it, but nether me or people at customer service were able to connect any devices beyond one i had paid for it with and they told me they will reimburse the charge. Guess what, in order to do that, they tried to make me sign paper that forbids me from saying any negative things about that hole of a hotel. Oh and they did not tell me that this is what i am signing. They just said its a report that i submit for refund. I torn it into pieces and thew it in their faces.
Last, air transat staff were rude and unhelpful. They used to have people who could speak fluently with you, but not any more. Now its couple locals who sit and watch youtube all day and have 0 interest in helping you. They were so rude that they started mocking me and my wife when we did not understand what they ment when they were talking to us.
I will not going to ANY BAHIA PRINCIPE hotel ever never again.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Nice Resort
1. Rooms were dated but nice
2.pools were clean
3. Beach was nicer at Tulum vs Akumal
4. We spent most of our trip at Tulum instead of Akumal better for our kids
5. Buffets were ok but food options were repetitive

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Nice Beach
We did enjoy our stay. Nice beach, rooms nice and clean with comfy beds. Buffet excellent, however, the 3 restuarants you needed to book were awful. The food and service could do with improvement. Overall staff were friendly, but needs some improvement on Customer Service.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: May not be for everyone but we love it!
I have nothing to complain about! The hotel, the room, the pools, the staff, the grounds, the transportation between the resorts and the food were all great. Some people may not like being away from the beach but it only takes 10 minutes by tram. Knowing that before you choose this resort may be important to some but we love it!

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great time at Bouganville
This was an interesting trip and one I won’t forget too soon. First we arrived on Nov 18th we sat down for dinner and the skies opened up. Was the most rain the DR had ever received in one day. Sunday morning the shoreline was covered in debris at first they said it would be 1-2 weeks to clean up well the resort did it in 4 days! They really were amazing and everyone appreciated how hard they worked to get the beach fixed. Now for the resort itself:
Grounds: beautiful they really look after i[... read more]t and I could not find one area that wasn’t kept up.
Beach: Can only review based on not being able to go in the water, the area that was open was the part with many loungers and palapa’s. We never had to hunt for one there are many and lots of shade or sun whichever you want.
Room: yes they are a little dated I have been in better but our housekeeper kept it clean and tidy all week. I slept well and never had to ask for anything. Mini fridge was filled with what we wanted and we had ample clean towels. Nice sitting area (we were in standard poolside) bathroom is a good size.
Food: We ate at the buffet more often then we normally would, while I found it smaller then others this meant that everything was fresh and there was never an empty serving dish for more then a couple of minutes. I found the buffet food to be very good, nice variety and good tasting. Omelette station is perfect, only issue was the beach buffet the lines could be long especially around 1pm.
We went to
La Pascadore - solid 5 out of 5 great service interesting food
Don Pablo 4 out of 5 food is excellent service is good but slow and I didn’t like the high pressure tactic to buy a $70 bottle of wine.
Takara: 4.5 out of 5 Food is amazing make sure you are hungry service is very good.
Los Corales Rodizio: 3 out of 5 terrible service, food was ok except for the meat it was the only good point, will skip this one next time.
Pools: Quiet pool is just that but if you don’t get a lounger by 9am you won’t get one till later on. Loved the swim up bar great bartender one of our favourite spots. The main pool is busier but you could still get loungers around 10am, bar is ok but not the best. Jacuzzi pool is interesting but we only went in once, the bar there is excellent. We did not like the beach bar, could not make a drink very slow and not friendly. The water in the pools is a very nice temperature all the time and they are big enough you always have space.
People: this is what makes this resort honestly some of the nicest people I have ever meant, check in and out was so easy and you feel like family from the minute you get there. Lounge bar is great and there are servers all over. However the best is the Entertainment group, they work so hard and they made the vacation for us. Always smiling and saying Hi they try to involve anyone who wants to be and are constantly on the go. We really enjoyed the water aerobics and the nightly shows.
The app: this worked really well for us, room service was punctual and anything we needed we could do through it and our butler kept an eye on us. Made check in and check out very easy as well as reservations and schedules.
We will be returning as well as trying some other Bahia properties, thank you Trip Central and Victoria for helping us find somewhere we will be happy going back to.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: A huge disappointment
This resort pretends to be a 5 star hotel. You pay extra for exclusive access to everything. It would be a fair 3 1/2 star. The rooms are very small and sparsely appointed. No dressers or shelves for clothes (2 small ones for two people?), as a result we had to live out of our suitcase which was then situated on the only sitting place, the "loveseat". Food was fine, but again not 5 star quality, the same applied to the drinks. Everything occurred in the 'lobby', as aside from the pool and sn[... read more]ack bars (during the day), there wasn't anywhere to else to go.(Snack bar was available 24 hours). "Showtime" in the open area adjoining the lobby. Lobby was very noisy due to the only evening bar and entertainment being there, and thus while checking in we couldn't even hear was the desk clerk was telling us. We visited, ate and drank at the Coba, Akumal and Tulum...........and the same can be said of their restaurants (which we could eat in) and bars. A huge disappointment. Have been to many better venues.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Even though the Resort is huge, it was immaculate and well maintained.
Our flight was on time but was not impressed that it took us almost 3 hours to get to our hotel. The bus driver had us waiting close to 45 minutes for a couple who was outside the airport enjoying beers, etc. There was absolutely no need to stop midway for restroom breaks when all we wanted was to check in to our hotel.
The noise factor every night with extremely loud music was too overbearing.
No clocks in the room and the air conditioner was not working. Unable to use the Room safe [... read more]the last day of our vacation due to low battery.
Overall, wide selections of meals but it was disgusting on the high volume of flies in cafeteria. As a result, we were forced to have our breakfasts and lunches everyday at the Jasmine Restaurant,
We had reservations at the Japanese restaurant on November 22, but we were turned away after waiting for close to 20 minutes. The reason being the hostess was rude and could not find our reservation. We were there to celebrate a family member’s birthday. The hostesses at the restaurants should be more courteous, friendly and pleasant to PAYING GUESTS!!
The saving grace was the exceptional services received by outstanding employees such as Keith, Casey (bell boys) and Nicola who attended to our room bar.
A big shout out to Tiffany, evening waitress at the Jasmine restaurant who went above and beyond the realm of her job scope to get a meal over to one of our relatives who was sick the day before our departure on November 24.
Only Received bath gel the day before departure.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Resort is not what it used to be
We just got back from a 7 night stay and it wasn't the same as the last time we went. The staff seemed unhappy and not interested in being there. The buffet was always the same and the food was warm at best. Sometimes they even ran out of certain foods. The hot stations at the buffet sometimes took 25 mins to get through. Getting into a la cart was hard even though no one was in the restaurants. Tipping has almost become expected, even for poor service. The bathrooms on the beach always had issu[... read more]es ranging from dirty and not cleaned to no toilet paper to water issues. Staff was lacking but it seemed like they were trying to hire. Evening entertainment was okay but didn't start until really late at night. Rooms need a lot of work, I know they are working on blocks to renovate them. The mattress were awful and pillows were worst. The beach is clean and the water is clear. We spent the week on the nude beach which is small and quiet, which was perfect for us to read and relax but water shoes are needed (which we brought) as it's super rocky.
Unfortunately our first time there was amazing and wanted to return, after this trip, I don't think we will be back

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Amazing Resort but in need of overdue upgrades!
We have enjoyed vacationing at this wonderful resort almost every year and sometimes twice a year since 2006!
After an absence of 2 years because of Covid, I just returned to Coba once again for a week's vacatiion last week and found that this resort is now certainly in need of serious upgrades including the rooms and bathrooms, and all throughout the pool areas.
Also, this time when we arrived at the resort after having communication with Bahia Principe Resorts saying that we would be [... read more]welcomed as 18 time return guests at this Coba, instead, we were treated as first time quest only and offered only 3 a-la-cart visits to the many restaurants. We were told that we were no longer able to have full access to all the other three resorts which we have had for years and were not offered bathrobes or slippers of a choc treat on our pillow at night as we had been. They told us we could have access to all three other Bahia Principe Resorts if we e paid an extra $90 American money each! The last two week stay we had at Coba was in Fegruary 2020 and at that time, we were treated with the usual respect of 18 year return quests and were given all of the above plus we could have at least 10 a-la-carts for that 2 week stay.
After about close to an hour discussion with various front desk staff...without being rude...... we insisted on speakng to the Manager and finally we were given the proper bracelets which allowed us to have our usual friendly treatment and our time there. My husband and I were planning on booking again in February after Christmas but at this point, I don't think I want to go through that booking in problem again. Other that I'd recommend Coba to many friends as I have in the past.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Disappointed with airline service
We booked our trip based on flight times
1st West jet changed our Mexico departure times to later (we did have option to cancel)
2nd on our drive to airport we received notification flight to Mexico would be delayed (we were already in transit to airport)
The delay ended up being about 7 hours, we finally arrived at resort at 2am (wasted full day in transit for what should have been a 4 hour flight)
3rd flight was delayed on return home flight
Would not recommend WestJet

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Very Bad Resort
Staff doesn't speak English......don't visit if you can only speak English and doesn't know Spanish since all activities are in Spanish.
They don't know how to cook chicken, Beds and rooms were smelling bad.
All restaurants aren't open everyday and make sure to do reservations if you want to eat at Fine dining restaurant.
Overall bad experience at the resort.
We stayed at the resort from 11/15/23 to 11/22/23,
We travel as a family for birthday of our sister. We absolutely loved this resort.
The service was excellent, all the staff we dealt with were amazing and accommodating.
We ate at number of a la carte restaurants, Italian Portofino, Maiko Japanese, ElOlivo Mediterranean. Our cudo goes to the Olivo. The food was excellent, the staff was amazing. Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Resort under major reconstruction .
Terrible .
After we paid for this 12 day holiday , we were advised that there would be minor construction happening .
It was major construction , and anyone going to the beach pool area or beach would have been affected as trucks , cement trucks , drill gamers ,all day long .
