Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Great resort

This is a great resort, we would go back. All the staff were friendly, grounds were very vibrant, convenient location to town. Rental bikes for free to borrow. Entertainment was great (felt like we were on American's Got Talent). Restaurants were excellent. The only reason I gave 4 stars is b/c the buffets were okay.

Grand Decameron Panama: Beautiful long beach!

There is a mini-fridge' in your room but they don't put anything in it. It's extemely hot so when you walk from the beach up the hill or stairs to your room you get hot and thirsty and need a cold drink.....we put some of their bottled water in and bought soft drinks at a store which worked well for us. We did not like they way they handled their meal reservations (3 days at a time) and all their restaurants (including buffets) need a reservation for dinner. We have travelled to a few different areas in the caribbean and costa rica so we don't expect service to be fast.....but at the Decameron, Panama the people seem to be learning everywhere and some restaurants seemed to be short staffed. It took quite a while to get our tea/coffe/water some days. This is the first resort we have been too which has enough beach chairs for everyone.....we did not have to save them....wonderful! Some of the staff were friendly but most were not. We don't speak spanish, but we try to use some spanish words....but a smile is free. Many of the staff we don't think wanted to be there. We wanted to see the Panama Canal and so the tours they had available were wonderful. It is so close to the new airport is was fantastic re: location.

Things to love: Predictable hot, sunny weather, good food, good drinks, lots of restaurants, bars, pools, and lounge chairs. Things to like: pretty beach, pretty and well maintained resort, ok service in buffet restaurants, good service in a la cart restaurants, great bartenders in most bars. Things that could be better: There are not enough umbrellas or palapas so if your not up REALLY early in the morning it's hard to find shade. You need to make dinner reservations even for the buffet and you [... read more] will be turned away if you don't have one. The snack bars all close at 4:30 and there is no food available anywhere until 11pm, so be sure you have a dinner reservation!

Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Average. Good for the price.

Lovely facility, reception area, dining area, grounds, pools and outdoor seating and lounging were great. Every staff member with the exception of one waiter were all super helpful and accommodating. A few down sides, beds were too hard, shower only trickled (should incorporate hand held as well), meals in main dining lacked taste and some meats tough. Being 'all inclusive' should really mean that and not charge for safety box (which is already in the room) and WiFi.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Really nice resort

I stayed at this resort with my family. I have 2 young boys. 2 years and 3 months. The resort was very helpful with anything we needed. The food was good. Drinks were ok. It is a very quiet resort. The best part about the place is the staff! Always working always cleaning always repairing. They take great pride in their place and it shows.

Reservation & Transat Desk: very little English was spoken, very short with their answers.Should I decide to go back to Panama -- I will have learnt Spanish. Grounds: there was a lot of stairs,no elevator,(noticed a lot of people had to stop to catch their breathe in going from the lobby down to the pools... the cart that was mentioned to take you around the resort was not around. the grounds were not lit up well at night, there were a lot of spots where you had to stop your walk to see if you  [... read more]were going to trip on cabal stone. Disappointed you could not see the ocean at night, other resorts I have stayed you were able to see the silhouette, and stroll along the beach for an evening stroll. Food: I was quite surprised that you had to book for the Buffet, normally the Buffet was open to the guests with no reservations needed. The Dessert selection was very minimal. No cheesecake,pies,chocolate fudge,ice cream...the usual cravings...lol Drinks: the Bartenders English was not pare - had a hard time understanding the drinks (not from the menu). Bookings for the Alacarts was a tad ridiculous, some people had to wait till 8:30 - 9:00 for dinner because they said they were booked, but when we walked by the restaurant there were plenty of empty seats. Bars: for the New year celebration week - they were short people. Entertainment: was shown at the same time as dinner, there were 2 theater stages one was for Spanish the other for the French. There little to none evening social entertainment. Swimming Pools : good amount to choose, It was nice to see enough pools for the resort, but there were a few pools that you could feel the scum around the pool sides. We just avoided those pools. Lawn chairs were also adequate for the pool size. The towel bar -one lady dropped off her towel, the girl behind the counter grabbed her towel and walked away, so the lady walked away also...it turned out the lady had to pay $25.00 for not having a card to hand in at check out. Even though this lady (senior) told the front desk the story - they insisted she pay - she won't be back. Ocean area - the sand was very rough and in some places (to go to the Bar)you needed sandals. Lots of shells in the sand. Off Shore Excursions: Snorkeling - was not complete gear - just mask & snorkel. was cancelled because of someone urinating in water. So pretty much payed for a boat ride. But what I heard from other travelers that the Decameron in Ecuador is a 5 star and completely different then this one.

Overall a solid 4 star resort. Beach, weather, food, bars, disco, entertainment, room, tennis, gym, pools all great. Enjoy going to the local towns, buying Mexican silver and drinking cold Mexican beer.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Such a welcoming place.

I enjoyed staying at this resort. It's an older place but keep up very well. Constant cleaning , repairing , painting being done. I noticed some staff are still working that we met from about 8-9 years ago. Must be good for the employees as well.

Grand Decameron Panama: Very Nice place.

Friendly staff. Grounds well kept and lovely. Room service was very good and helpful. I would recommend a little more variety in the food department, with more restaurants serving food all day. Thanks.

Grand Decameron Montego Beach: Excellent Resort and Location

We had a awesome vacation! The rooms were very clean. The cleaning staff did a very good job everyday. The food was excellent!!! The nightly entertainment was good. The staff in this resort was very helpful and friendly. Overall this made our stay a very memorable one. Will definitely recommend this resort.

Grand Decameron Panama: Very Well Established Resort

The overall Vacation Experience has been very memorable. The staff at the resort very helpful, the pools very clean and well managed. The rooms could be cleaner, pulling out furniture to clean behind, but for the most part very comfortable. The food was good, not excellent but good. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Nice and small... perfect for families!

We were family of 3 + mother in law. Check in was easy and they did their best to accommodate our request to have 2 rooms side by side. However, be careful, you have to pay for your safe for the week, works out to approx $25 for the week. This is last chance cash grab, as the safes are available in all rooms anyways and no money would have been required. If you've used them before (enter code), you will have no problem, so save the $25 and just use. This upset us as we through $25 out the door a [... read more]nd it would not have been required. They tell you there would be no access but there is, save the money and do not pay for safe access. Wifi is an extra charge as well, $10 u.s./day for 24 hour access. Anyways, we were happy with the rooms #125 & #126, side by side and we could visit on the patio outside. The patios faced the garden area, and we could see the pools and bar/show stage easily. Very nice location to be. Rooms are 1 King w/Double Sofa Futon (bring your own bedding), or 2 Double Beds and Chairs. The resort is king room, then double room, then king, double, etc. Perfect for families (no access through rooms though) Staff was great, everyone friendly and they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and check in regularly. Property is small and intimate. Everyone knows everyone by end of your trip. Only 2 restaurant, 1 is buffet (each night they change up the menu, eg. Oriental, Mexican, etc.) and 1 snack restaurant which turns into a la carte for evening meals. Every 2 days the menu changes, Mediterranean, Italian, etc. Very good food here. The buffet is small, not a lot of choice, but good. If you love eggs (omeletes) have them cook them longer, always runny if you don't ask. A La Carte's were excellent, really enjoyed. We ate at the buffet only 2 nights, the last night was the Oriental. Food tasted good, however I spent my last 2 days very sick in the room. I suspect it was the Sushi, not definate. My family did not eat sushi, only me and I was very ill, bed ridden for 2 days (took me 6 days to get over this mexican bug) There is a MEGA store across the street, dolphin park, and a few restaurants. San Jose is approx 30 min walk, or 5 min cab. Not a whole lot of souvenir shopping available unless you go into Cabo, however Friday nights at the Resort is Mexican Night. The local venders come in to resort and set up few tables. Pretty reasonable. Also few venders on beach. Airport as well (however most expensive option here) We would recommend for families or quite vacations as it is pretty low key and gets pretty boring by the end of the week unless you get out and do a few excursions. Mobility can be a concern too, if you have a wheel chair or disability as there are a few stairs throughout the resort, however we did see a few people and they were getting around with no problem.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Considering the price and 3 star..... Not Bad..!

Overall, not bad. Food was above average for a 3 star, service was great. The La Carte was pretty good and romantic with nice location up on the hill. Booze drinks were OK with lots of fruity options. Try the Banana Mama with real banana blended .What I liked the most about the complex was the versatility and spread buildings. Building 4 was located across the street with a adult only pool and bar,then later night, live entertainment and then later later the disco for the partiers. This is where we stayed and we quite liked it. We had a private balcony in the back and the pool and hallway in the front. By 11pm it was dead quite as the partiers headed across the street to the disco in building 4. Perfect! Beds were a little hard though. In the morning at 9:30, there is a hotel shuttle at the main front entrance that takes you to their affiliate beach club a kilometer away that is still part of the all inclusive. Little quieter, nicer beach for sure, same food and drinks. The other buildings are guest rooms and seemed OK too. Building 2 looked good and had its own little private pool too. The buildings are dated, but the staff is always cleaning and repairing, always! Beach water was disappointing as it was murky and dark, even dirty. Not much beach front, but no shortage of chairs. Many beach merchants!! It was cool to be right in the town of Guayabitos, We explored the town on the free bicycles provided by the hotel. So,overall, it was really Ok and unique. Better than its three star rating, but certainly not a 4 star either.The location is 45 minutes out of PV and very Mexican and jungle terrain, so great cultural and geographical experience. We took advantage of the area and horse back road up in the jungley mountains. Really nice from up there! It should be said too that everyone local there including return tourist report the area is very very safe. From what I saw, I would agree. One thing about travelling to the PV side is the weather and for late December the weather was exceptional with no rain. But for us, the beach is really important and so the aqua blue waters and the white sand of the Caribbean trump the jungle and predictable good weather. Take it all in for what it is worth. From a value perspective this is a solid pick. But if you are used to a 4 or five star traveller, you will not be impressed.

The resort was huge, staff for the most part were friendly. The food was acceptable. Made new friends. Rooms were clean and the washrooms through out the resort were clean. Had a great experience with the release of baby turtles, lucky to be there for this. Will probably go back to this resort All the pools on the resort were cold

grounds beautiful; lots of bars and restaurants; bathrooms plenty and convenient; great new years party. Major issue was with saving beach chairs on the beach every morning. Saw people at 5 am taking towels to beach chairs every day. If you were not out by 7 am there would be no shade. The problem being that if you looked up and down the beach area there would not be a person at these saved spots for hours. No security to check and stop this. Also now there is "premium spots" that I guess you need to purchase from the lobby. The resort seems to cater to the French Canadians now, since there are no longer direct flights from Alberta....also disappointing. Overall love Panama and the resort is awesome but felt that as English speaking over looked or not important. Also lots of small children from babies to toddlers and up. Travelled with my children ages 18-32

Grand Decameron Panama: Challenging vacation

The best feature of Decameron is the proximity to the airport. It is literally about five minutes away. Check-in was great. We received our room assignment and keys at the airport and our bags were taken to our rooms right away. It was done fast and efficiently. In general Decameron is run very efficiently. Even the weather was great! Our room was spacious and spartan. There was no coffee maker, no clock, the fridge was working but empty. We had to pay for the safety deposit key as well as for a [... read more]n extra key. The keys were the old fashioned kind with the room number engraved in the key, so do not lose it!!!! The faucets from the shower were probably "from the last century". But the place was kept clean and we had fresh towels and water bottles for drinking daily. The main problem was with the staff is their general lack of knowing English. It is probably the result that most guests came from Columbia and other Spanish speaking countries. Often we felt ignored. The layout of the resort can be a challenge for guests with mobility problems. There are about 100 steps up and down from the beach up to the lobby. One can avoid the stairs but still must navigate the incline. There may be a shuttle service but it is hard to figure out how it works. The food was less than mediocre. I lost 3lbs!!!! Thanks God for the grill on the beach as they had awesome hamburgers. Salads and fruit were good but avoid the evening buffet; it was terrible. Some of the specialty restaurants were not so bad. Would I go back probably not but it was a pleasant break from winter and our trip to Panama city and the Canal was pleasant

Beautiful spot, beach good, but can be rough although no stones so enjoyable. One of the better beaches I've been too. Only annoying that they pull you out at 530pm, but probably wise because the current is stronger and tide comes in. Accommodations and food good. Golf was great. We received a sell off price and for this I was totally satisfied. Yes It could be better but then expect to pay twice the price. The pools and bars were great lots to do for kids of all ages especially 20 somethings. Rooms were clean but needed some repairs. Sliding door didn't work transat rep was very helpful to have on sight all staff were very nice

Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The grounds were nicely laid out. The pools were always cleaned and had great shapes. The beach and pool area always had room to lie down. The air conditioner always kept the clean room comfortable. Always good choice of food and the desserts looked and tasted great!

We really enjoyed the resort, we stayed ground floor in Blk 5 with the pool feet away from our patio door and steps away from the morning/lunch buffet (which turned into 2 evening a la cartes/and bar....very convenient :) we went to one show and we very entertained. There are 2 wifi zone but with the size of the resort they could use a couple more, but it is Mexico so we were pleased to even have 2
