Ocean Riviera Paradise: Good resort

Good food. .no reservations required except at the Japanese. The breakfast and lunch buffet are really good. Extremely clean resort. The people selling excursions etc on the beach are very annoying. We were asked every few minutes to buy something...massage, excursion, souvenir etc. The massage people are the worst. Great entertainment..lots to do all day and evening.

We just returned home October 13th, we were a group of eight, five adults and three kids ages 3, 7, and 11. Beautiful detailed hotel, new fresh contemporary decor, the lobby is like a natural history museum with a giant whale skeleton and sharks and corals in picture boxes, also air conditioning, a first for us in the Caribbean. Check in was quick, efficient and we had all our requests granted, one minor room change done same day, just a bedding arrangement issue. The rooms are air conditioned n [... read more]icely and the bed was super comfortable. Everything worked well in all three rooms. Bar stocking was a minor issue, water and pop stocked but not always beer. Food was good and no reservations needed for a la cartes and lots to choose from, although in low season they rotate what is open, but there was always good food available. The coffee shop is a great touch, delicious coffees, lattes and cold drinks and desserts available. Bowling was fun, they even have a ramp for little kids. Lazy river and pools and kids waterpark were always clean. Lazy river was fun, sometimes a minute or two wait for tubes. Entertainment was just ok, sometimes planned events were not existent or cancelled. Sometimes in the buffet at breakfast it was near impossible to get service for coffee or drinks, thank goodness for self serve mimosa bar and juice. Staff was generally kind and would say hello when passing. We didn’t get hassled too much from the time share people. Beach was rough, beautiful golden sand and clean, lots of chairs but not really swimmable and was red flagged 5/7 days, there’s a lagoon to the left of the hotel beach which was calmer and good for a swim. We found service to be good 70% of the time, sometimes we got our meals at the a la cartes quick and efficient other times we felt completely ignored...all in all it was a great vacation and we felt completely safe. I’d go back again if the price was right. Jenn Black handled our group, our requests, our many phone calls, rectified an issue we had with air Canada vacations quickly and efficiently, put in for an upgrade for our group and it was honoured..we’ve used her services many times, and appreciate her knowledge and professionalism...we even booked another trip through her while poolside at this resort..the wifi worked well every where!!

Ocean El Faro: Great resort

Overall great hotel with lots to do for all ages. Pros: Wifi throughout, lazy river and pools, many restaurant options and spacious rooms. Cons: service was ok. Most days we got great service, but some room for improvement

We were very pleasantly surprised by this resort! Very clean and pretty. The rooms were beautiful and the food was fantastic! We will definitely be going back! The staff were very friendly and welcoming!

Ocean Maya Royale: Second go around- always a good time

My friend and I went to this resort in June 2016 - it was a good time then and it was an even better time this trip! They definitely stepped up the resort a bit since last being there, with the addition of a cute little coffee shop, a sports bar, and a bit more nightly entertainment it made for a well rounded trip. I love the small community of this resort. Every single staff member was incredibly kind and always happy to help with anything we needed. Highlight was the pool foam party - which is always a good time! Only bad thing i'd have to say is lack of shade on the beach where you can have direct access to swim. Otherwise amazing time overall

Ocean El Faro: Fantastic Time!

This resort was absolutely fantastic. We typically go away with a group of friends but this time we decided to do a couples vacation based on how many different things there were to do at this resort. From bowling, to the entertainment staff at the pool, to the staff at the restaurants, it was a wonderful vacation. There is lots to do, very clean resort, the beach offers lots of shade and there are lots of chairs at each pool. There was only 6-7 umbrellas per pool which can make it difficult to catch some shade on those hot days! The coffee at the coffee shop was great especially after dinner. The resort is very modern and the rooms were large compared to other all inclusive resorts! Keep up the great work!!

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at

From the moment we entered the hotel we were inundated by high pressure sales staff. They were demanding we take a tour of the facility because they wanted to sell us a timeshare thing At the beach t he hotel staff followed us and again demanding we buy time in their spa. When we were forced to agree to spend time in the spa, just to get them off our back. Ocean Maya Royale: Great time!!!

This was our second time back at this resort and it definitely didn’t disappoint! Food, drinks, staff, etc were all amazing!! My only issue were the mosquitoes, but that has nothing to do with the actual resort. Many staff were saying that they have been worse this year than any other year, which I believe because I don’t think I got one bite the first time we were there. Hopefully it is just an “off” year, but I would recommend bringing some bug repellent.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Disappointed

This was our first time in Punta Cana, we travel 3 times a year, I been in Cuba over 15 times, Mexico usually 3 times a year ,South America, Florida , this was our first time in Punta Cana and after 1 day We couldn’t wait to come home. Food at the buffet was ok, We try the Mexican and Italian, it was so bad, we end up at the buffet, bread was old And hard, food overcook, and we have to wait 20 min for someone to come and take our order. The first room block 9 3rd floor, it was so dirty and disgusting!! the closet was urinated, not kidding, the pull up couch where my daughter supposed sleep has blood stain, so after 2 hours wait they changed us to a nice room block 5 3rd floor, I think that’s was the only good thing we had. The beach at this hotel have huge sands bags to stop the waves, I didn’t mind it, but that area smells like sewer, and the same smell was close to the buffet, so we walk 5 minutes to our left much nicer. But the thing that throws us off the most was the treatment of the hotel, it felt that everyone it’s there to sell and they don’t want to serve anyone.Im glad we’re back home and we’re not planing to go back ever again to Punta Cana, beaches are better and Cayo Santa Maria, people 100% more friendly warm and welcoming.

Ocean El Faro: Nice Resort

The food selection at the individual theme restaurants was quite good, especially the japanese restaurant. The bar in the main lobby was staffed with very friendly bartenders and was a pleasant location to be in. The whole area was well maintained and there was plenty of things to do from bowling, lazy river, beach and organized activities. I read earlier about lack of security personnel but i saw them everywhere including the beach. Very nice resort

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Awesome resort

We had a wonderful vacation at oceans coral and turquesa, the place was so clean and organize. All the a la carte restaurant iwas so delicious and the service was par excellece😃 the pool is very clean and we enjoyed the jacuzi in the pool and the hydrotherapy😘we definetely recomend this resort! Cant wait to go back❤️

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Fantastic staff!

With my boyfriend we stayed at this hotel for a full week. The only thing that was unclear to us was the transport from the airport to the hotel and we almost booked our own, the hotel provides one but from the many emails we were sent not even one mentioned that. When we arrived at the hotel, amazing staff members took great care of us while we waited to be checked in. The only downside is the fact that we landed at 11, so we had to wait for 3h in extreme humidity and heat to be able to get to  [... read more]our room and shower – but that’s understandable, most places have check in at 3pm. We decided to upgrade ourselves to 1st level of privilege (additional 500USD for the entire stay with access to a bar and restaurants that were opened from 7am, unlike the normal bar that opened at 10am till 1am). We got a beautiful, clean and spacious room, quite far from the main pool that tends to be loud, but the downside of the location was that we were almost alone in the whole building so all the nature (15cm long grasshoppers and racoon families) had their peace disturbed only by us. I am personally afraid of all insects, but the only impossible to bear for me were the gigantic grasshoppers that would fly in your direction which scared the living hell out of me. We asked to have rooms changed and that was not a problem to the staff that understood the issue well (special shout out to Sam who was an amazing help). The new room we got had a great view of the main pool and even though it was a slight downgrade, we appreciated having neighbours. The food in the privileged restaurant was completely not for me (as a vegetarian), overly complicated and completely forced combinations only made my stay for the first two days miserable. But then we discovered the Caribbean buffet, both breakfasts and dinners were incredible. Amazing variety and ease to pick whatever one desires. All the other restaurants were great too, my boyfriend especially loved the Italian restaurant and the incredible steak he got there. Food wise only downside is that all restaurants open at 6pm and close at 10pm, after that only one awful diner is opened till 6:30am. For non-privileged guests’ breakfast was available from 9am I believe, those guests also had to queue for the busier restaurants. For many the lack of snacks in rooms (unless purchased in the extremely overpriced giftshop) and lack of the possibility to get any food to your room can be seen as very annoying (I was sick one night and I was unable to receive anything other than room service). Speaking of room service, it is available only from 11am till 11pm, after that you must pay astounding amounts for subpar food. When it came to the open bar, we were positively surprised that there were not that many crazy drunk people, which is a bonus. We booked an all-day trip with AirCanada’s rep, the trip itself was not too expensive considering what was included in the package (Mayan Ruins and Rio Secreto caves – 150% recommend, amazing experience). The biggest issue and sth that angered us was the fact, that we were told to get water shoes for the trip which was an expense of 60 USD in the gift shop. It turns out the shoes were available for free by the caves. That expense made the trip less affordable and made us feel like we were taken advantage of. As a young working couple, we did not think that was fair. The trip itself was 300USD for 2 people and that additional 60 was a big rise. What I would like to add is that the staff deserves a special thanks, I have never met nicer and friendlier people, they remember you and issues you may have had. Same for waiters and bar staff, entertaining us with stories and really trying to make our stay as nice as possible, which is something they did not have to do. Overall I think I would recommend the hotel regardless as we had a splendid time and even though the weather was supposed to be bad (rain, storms, clouds), we had beautiful sun all the time, but the humidity was a killer so being outside of the pool was difficult.

The hotel was lovely. Poolside entertainment outstanding. Great choice of food, especially liked the option of no extra charge room service. Only downside was the beach was disappointing but great pools

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great week at ORParadise

We had stayed at this resort 2 years ago in the el beso section and enjoyed it so much that we returned but upgraded to the Privilege section. Loved the Privilege restaurant a la carte offerings for breakfast and lunch. Amazing staff and service. Our butler was so helpful and went above and beyond even running a bubble bath in the jacuzzi. So amazing to come home to after a day in the sun. Love all the food options and Mike's cafe in the afternoons for a latte.

Ocean El Faro: Nice resort

Overall the resort was very nice. Clean and very nice features. We were there the week of September 20th to 27th, which I know if the off season but the resort was almost empty. Restaurants had funny hours and limited menus. Overall a great experience and we would recommend it for sure.

Resort was in great shape,,, Loved the Mexican food... Staff were really good... Special thanks to Ceasar... Beach was nice and private area for Privilege guests was a bonus. Highly recommend this resort..

Ocean Maya Royale: Awesome resort!

The resort was pretty neat and looked really high end with amazing landscapes, buildings , and waterfalls. There were plenty 5 +1 restaurants to choose from daily and the food was amazing. The pools were kept clean and clear and so were the beaches with nice comfortable seating.

Ocean Blue and Sand: AMAZING RESORT!!

Hi thought that it was a beautiful place to go I would definitely go again also the staff was an amazing services food was great as well!! The hotel was always clean and a real comfortable place to stay.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: very dirty rooms

I stayed at Ocean El Patriarca arriving Sept.8, 2019 and departing Sept. 18. Firstly, the grounds are as usual beautifully well maintained and clean. The staff goes way beyond to make you happy. The concierges try their best. Our room in the privilege section was quite dirty. The walls were stained. The bathrooms were minimally cleaned the entire stay. There was mould outside the shower. We had to call maintenance to repair a leak from the shower head which would flood the bathroom flo [... read more]or. The towels in Cuba in general always have a nasty odour to them which is left on your body after you wash. The sink, tub and toilet were never cleaned. The same stains were there day after day. We used glasses to drink upon arrival and they stayed dirty until departure. I kept killing little black bugs in the room. Our fridge was not restocked daily and we had to chase water bottles almost on a daily basis as the person delivering water would only leave a bottle of water and no beer or soft drinks. We left a note asking for 2 bottles of water because we drink a lot of water and still quite often we only received 1 bottle. Our furniture had stuck on drips on the sides from previous clients covered in dust and mop remains.

Playa Vista Azul: Not what we expected.

The food was terrible (even by Cuba standards) and lacked creativity, therefore resulting in the exact same food each day at each meal. Staff were more focused on tips than genuine customer service. Very little attention was paid to those who did not speak Spanish or provide large tips daily. The alcohol seemed to be watered down as it was completely tasteless. The evening entertainment was okay, but the 'dicso' (in the snack bar) was juvenile and not well put together. Given that we were in Var [... read more]adero there should have been additional options for entertainment/going out, if the resort was unable to provide adequate services in that regard. The beach bar on the large beach is way too far from the beach area. Would definitely recommend people bring their own large cup or bubba so they don't have to walk such a long distance for drinks as frequently. The pool was good. Very clean and well taken care of, however the resort could definitely benefit from additional umbrellas. There were none unless you asked for one, and we only learned this by observing others doing this. The umbrellas should just be readily available. The room decor was good and the rooms were relatively clean. Smelled musty but better on higher floors. The resort grounds were well maintained and getting around was easy as the resort was not very big.
