Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Welcome to poopslosion

The room was fine but outside of it smelled of raw sèwage. The beach was good. The food was okay but repetitive. My fiancée got pretty bad food poisoning. Overall not a great resort but for the money it was okay

Lots of sanitizer stations, most were empty…food at the buffet ok, but no plates or cups or silverware…no electricity for an entire day…hot water in the mornings only…2 days of no towels in room, most days no towels for pool and beach…a La carte food was horrible, buffet food was better…rooms are very damp and musty…staff was very friendly…average beach, very scenic, yet poor for swimming due to rough bottom…red flag up at all times…sorry to say, not a great place to stay, th [... read more]ere are way better resorts in the D.R.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing place

Everything was great. Our room was beautiful and clean. The pools were great the drinks were delicious and the food was delicious. I don’t know where the bad reviews come from. Probably the few people we saw who are demanding and expect the world

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great week at Iberostar Costa Dorada

A fun and relaxing week at this beautiful resort. The staff were all amazing. Special Cuoto's to Kennedy, Carlos and Dulcee. This was our 5th time staying at this resort. If I could make one suggestion. Have some drink service at the pool. 4 servers taking drink orders would be an added upgrade to an already beautiful resort.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Keep Expectations Low

Worn bath towels, staff often forgot to bring a bath mat, leaky tub faucet, non-working hair dryer, safe that needed maintenance to open, dodgy AC that required several front desk trips & maintenance people 2x, rough bedsheets, mattress cover moves around underneath while sleeping, extra fee dodgy room wifi, plentiful but bland & tasteless food, conflicting information from staff re: how/when to reserve dinner & how many at a time may be booked, if you go on their pricey tours you have no way to [... read more] book a dinner reservation, plastic patio chairs were very worn, no chest of drawers in room to put clothes, your basic all inclusive - could consider upgrading to Select. too many rooms have 2 double beds rather than king/queen. Don't stray off site at night.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Staff are lovely but resort is lacking post covid

Lovely beach area, a great pool (closes at 6pm, unfortunately), and a large buffet. Some restaurants are limited (only 2 open per evening). We booked this resort because they boasted gluten-free and vegetarian options but were disappointed that nothing at the buffet was labeled for food allergies or ingredients, and the menus at the a la carte's were incorrectly labeled. Our room was clean and comfortable.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Average 3.5

This is a nice resort. I would rate it 3.5 star .The staff was friendly. The grounds kept clean. Entertainment was average. One area that can be improved is food quality and variety. Breakfast had plenty of fried hotdogs and baloney. Unfortunately these are not what I would consider breakfast meats. Bacon was scares . Out of the 10 days we were there they served bacon on 3 of those days and no breakfast sausage on any days. Lunch buffet was the same every day ,pizza hamburgers salads and limited [... read more] lunch meats. The A la cart restaurants were average. The Italian restaurant served only pasta dishes. There was no veal or chicken parm,no lasagna , no pizza. I would not recommend the ltalian. Japanese and Mexican A la cart were good not great. If you are looking for a steak dinner this is not the resort you will find it at. The beach is kept clean. Seaweed was cleaned every morning .Overall a pleasant resort but I don't think I would go back to it. There are many better options on the island for $100 or $200 more. I was in Punta Cana on my last visit to the island which has much newer construction. Puerto Plata is a much older location and it shows.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Depending on which room you get, will determine Casa Marina's Rating

Casa Marina is an older resort that is slowly being renovated and the difference between the newly renovated and the older rooms make the difference between a 1 star and a 4 star rating. When my husband and I first arrived, because of flying with Transat, we were placed in a 1 star room with two double beds. The bathroom counter was literal falling off the wall, tiles were cracked and the floresent light was attached to the wall by an electrical wire. Mold grew under the bathroom counter. The [... read more] bedding and curtains were terribly dated and there was no decorations on the, once white, walls. There was one dim light bulb beside the bed, which we were unable to read by because it was sooo dim. There is one electrical outlet in the bathroom and one in the room on the other side of the room from the bed. The airconditioning unit blew directly on the beds making it drafty. The lock on the sliding glass door didn't work and the patio light didn't work (we requested a workperson to fix it, they tried but it wasn't possible to fix). So if we wanted to read and night we sat on the toilet, hoping the light fixture wouldn't fall on us. This room was considered a Supreme room. After 5 days of requesting a room change, we were finally moved to one of the renovated rooms. This room was a significant improvement and we enjoyed the rest of our stay in that room. The grounds were nice, with seats and tables situated around the pools, by the ocean and around the mini pools. Except for the front desk staff, other staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. There are 3 large bars on the property, none had freindly servers. I do not recommend this resort for children as, besides a small children's pool, there was nothing else for children to do. The food in the buffet was tasty and alot of variety and the waiters and waitresses were amazing. The entertainment wasn't worth going to - lots of silly filler acts by having the audience participate in camp style activities, or using videos. When they danced it was okay. I have given this resort a rating of 2 because of the sad situation of some of the rooms and the unpleasant and generally unhelpful front desk staff.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Better than my first impression

The rooms were clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable - there was no top sheet on the bed, between the comforter and the bottom sheet, which was not fitted and too short. No face cloth and only one hand towel in the bathrooms were not convenient. The tubs porcelain was wearing off so it was stained. There was nothing impressive about the room and it needed attention to detail. The hibachi restaurant, which you need a reservations, looked really good, but we decided to have sushi only (a a lot of sushi) you get this in the hibachi restaurant but you can go with no reservations, ie we went twice and both servers were great. The buffet was just OK there were two different nights the hotel did something outside but missed both (I didn’t know but if you check the board near the Sports bar you can find out when they are). Lunch snack bar took forever, after an hour I left without my meal. I do not recommend going there if you’re in a hurry. The grounds were fine, nothing extra. The beach was clean. The pool was cool - unheated but clean. All the bars needed their staff to be retrained or trained! The drinks were not very good and the staff was in no hurry to get drinks out to people. The main bar is the Sports bar, it had no atmosphere. Surprisingly, most of the entertainment was good. The bathrooms in the main hotel were always being cleaned, impressive. It was my anniversary & I asked the travel agent to send a message to the hotel. When we got there I went to the concierge to see what was happening for it (if anything. The concierge showed me her computer screen, where the note should have been, the box was empty. The concierge sent us a bottle of champagne and some fruit as a surprise, however - her name is Isuara and she will help you with all kinds of things!. I would recommend this resort for the price I paid.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: VH GRAN VANTANA did not disappoint

Just returned from 3 weeks at the Gran Ventana in Puerto Plata and would definitely recommend to friends and family. Although this is an older resort, service and cleanliness are clearly a priority. Grounds were well kept. Great beach! Rooms were ok but very sparse. A small table and a couple of chairs would have been nice. No hooks anywhere to hang your clothes. Bathroom lighting was awful. Buffet offered something for everyone. Even after 3 weeks, we always found something different  [... read more]to try.. A la carte restaurants were also very good. Entertainment was ok but repetitious. All in all, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Extremely happy

The hotel and accommodations were amazing the locals were friendly you did not fear walking off of the resort I had so much fun lots of activities for people of every age. The staff there were extremely outgoing friendly and willing to do what it takes to make us happy the bartenders were phenomenal

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Resosrt is beyond any 5 stars resorts

Service, cleanles, food, entertainment and facility are applicable to 8 stars. Iberostar Costa Dorada has one problem with beach, too much sea plants on the beach and this is the ocean fault. Staff tried to clean the beach but this helped only for few hours

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Clean resort

We don’t travel much, but it was nice to see the sun, the staff is super friendly, the rooms are clean we had hot water, I was not a fan of the beach , it is small, and closes at 6 , its not a big resort so not much walking to get where you need to go, but maybe thats what I missed big long walks I felt closed in, we did a few day trips they where fantastic, its a very interesting Country. And the food was also fantastic.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Awesome resort

Check in didn't exactly go as planned,{assigned room was not ready until the following day} once settled in the accommodations were fantastic. All the staff were very friendly but had no explanation for the mishap. Food was readily available throughout the day but limited in the evenings ,{Brasilia restaurant no longer available}. Evening entertainment was also limited and repetitive. Beach and pool were fantastic!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Iberostar Costa Dorado - AMAZING!!!

We have been to this hotel 8 times now and this most recent time was the best so far. Everything improved from our last trip. Only thing that has not improved in all the stays is the service at the bars! Only people who get served are those who over-tip. Everyone else might as well be invisible. Beaches are beautiful and seaweed depends on the weather. But face it you’re swimming in an ocean! Service by the hotel staff and the restaurant staff was wonderful. Food was great and varied. Overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay of 16 nights was great! Highly recommend this resort.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Very nice safe and quiet resort

Our room was in building 9 which was very nice. Staff were helpful and friendly. The food was good on the buffet but I did miss their snack restaurant which used to serve chicken pizza burgers fries salad and ice cream, (when buffet was closed). The grounds are kept very well. The views are spectacular the beach is well maintained. The pools are clean it would be nice if there were a few more lounge chairs, tables, chairs and umbrellas . The surrounding area has a lot of places within walking distance, by cab or organized excursions you are pretty centralized.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Resort not keeping up to there previous standard

This resort appears to put everyone in the oldest part of the resort. It advertises as Casa Marina Reef and CasaMarina Beach. I clarified when booking I wanted the Beach side and was put on the Reef side. The resort wanted more money to move which we paid. They closed the snack bar down near the beach and failed to tell any of our party. The rooms were clean but had to run the Shower for 45 min or more just to get hot water. Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Last Visit to Casa

The resort is ok. Last time there was much better and was about 4-5 years ago. This time my wife got very sick, when I called the desk at approximately 11pm was told there was no doctor until 9am. After vomiting and Diarreah for another 4+ hours, she told me she thought she was dying, I called the front desk again. This time the same gentleman told me if it was an emergency he could get a doctor(OBVIOUSLY It was an emergency the first time I called). This time action was taken. She spent the nex [... read more]t three days in the hospital with a gastro infection(food poisoning). After finally getting back to the resort the Guest services manager, Franklin told me to go buy water in the gift shop for my wife if I needed more than the 2 bottles of water supplied daily. When I told him she couldn't consume alcohol the least they could do was give us water, He laughed in my face and said I could drink 2X as much. Very Professional. Also it should be noted that the bottled water at this resort is refilled and not new bottles placed in your refrigerator each day. Also after talking to other guests upon our return, we found out there were many individuals that had stomach issues around the same time that we were in the hospital. Tells me it came from the resort. There is also a restaurant that sits empty which used to be snack bar. you have to make reservations at this restaurant for a-la-cartes between 10am and 11am the morning of so if your not there too bad! No music or entertainment in the day near either of the pools, one day we brought our blue tooth speaker down and was playing country music, Everyone around us loved it but was quickly told to turn it off by security. The grounds are ok, most staff are friendly but overworked especially the bar tenders. The location is about the only positive thing I have to say about the resort this time....We will definitely be back to Sosua but never to this resort again!!

Casa Marina Reef Resort: 3 star

Comparing it to the last time we were there, there were some changes made, not necessarily for the better. The Seafood Restaurant that we enjoyed for lunch as well as dinner was not in use. You had to reserve a spot in the Mexican restaurant, which apparently was only available every other day. The reservation setup took quite a while to get an order placed, if your required area to dine still had availability to take you in.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Casa Marina and Reef enjoyable but.......

I have nothing to compare this trip to as it was my first time here but generally a pleasant trip. For myself, there were a few minor problems like a closet door that didn't work properly, a patio door that wouldn't open, and a phone that fell apart every time we used it.the door issues were looked after quickly, the phone remains a mystery! Judy and I were the lucky ones because several others in our group had other problems like no water for days, no hot water for showers, leaking ceilings,  [... read more]There is a difference between ECONOMY and SUB-STANDARD and some in this group met the latter with no offers of "safety" upgrades. However, personally, our room was well serviced each day, cleaned, fresh towels, etc. Beautiful and well kept grounds, excellent variety and availability of choice in the dining area, friendly and helpful service staff. Transat rep was informative and honest in group care and available for some part of every day. Overall, I enjoyed my trip, but would not repeat unless the offer was reasonable and NOT in the part of the resort that has not been updated. Manuela, thank you for your efforts on our behalf.
