Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Not a 5

Resort was beautiful and had lots of things to do. However, the food was very mediocre - buffet food was cold, several burgers tried through the week and weren't cooked fully. Selection was very repetitive for each meal. Resort was clean and staff was friendly. If food was improved, resort would be a five star in our opinion. Would not return due to the food issue.

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Another great vacation

6th time to the Tucan/Quetzal and each time it seems a little better. An excellent resort to relax and the wildlife adds another dimension. Staff is always helpful and always seem to be smiling in their work

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Much better than the reviews suggest!

This is a great hotel for families or couples that prioritize a quiet atmosphere, stunning beach, comfortable rooms and good food. The upgrade to Privilege is definitely worth it because you get access to more eating options, a nicer area of the beach with shaded umbrellas and priority rooms that are generally in better condition. The frozen drinks all had a syrup/chemical taste to them and bartenders definitely gave you a more generous pour if you tipped, but otherwise I had no complaints with  [... read more]the service. Would go again! Don't stay in a room ending in "05" because you'll be right across from the maid's closet so lots of noise outside your door.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Spectacular!!

The resort was everything that I could have asked for and more! We purchased the unlimited Xcaret Package and it was worth every cent! We went to Xcaret every morning and explored a different area of the park before we hit the beach for 1030 am. The resort forgot a few things on check in - such as our towel cards, robes, coupon booklet etc - but the food and Xcaret Park made up for the small oversights that the resort made. I highly recommend this resort!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Excellent resort

Very clean and well maintained. Staff was so friendly and raised the bar for service. We couldn't have been treated better anywhere. We have travel throughout the Caribbean extensively and Grand Bahia has always been at the top of our choices. We will return.

Riu Tequila: Nice resort

Rooms are very Clean and good service on site , Lots of good selection for the food, but no Italian Restaurant on site. Please note that they need to have sharper knifes for the BBQ night at the Buffet.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Very nice resort. Excellent for Families

Very nice Overall. Beds a bit too hard. Friendly and Hardworking staff. Food generally very good. Liked Pool Areas and lots of chairs, loved the Hammocks. Beach very nice, need more shade on the Beach. Very Clean Resort.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Loved it!!

I loved this resort, Its not a huge one but thats another reason we liked it. The staff were absolutely amazing, they could not do enough for you. We went to all of the restaurants and loved them all. The only negative thing I could say is that it was still under construction but it did not bother us as we are early risers, we were on vacation so we do not spend much time in the room anyway. We will definately be back!!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: A royal treat!

Loved everything about this adult-only resort! Room was comfortable. Food was great! Pool areas were clean and well maintained! Beaches were easily accessible by tramways or an easy 20-minute walk. Exceptional services provided by all staff! This is a place to remember.... It met our expectations.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing resort.

Amazing resort.We had an amazing time at the resort and the weather was excellent.food was very delicious .the beach was amazing !I especially liked the communication at the resort.Rooms Were spacious and clean.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Great Hotel, Beach awesome

This hotel was awesome, we had a great trip, we requested rooms side by side and on an upper level, and we got them, we stayed in area 3, which was located close to everything. No beach or water view, but it was nice and quiet in the evenings. Entertainment every night, great food selection, and everyone in the hotel was very helpful. I would definitely go again. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great Time at the Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda!

This hotel has everything you need for a great vacation! While the beach isn't the best I've ever seen the pool and everything else is amazing! We stayed in block 8 and our room was giant and newly renovated. Would definitely go back again!

Catalonia Yucatan: Fun in the sun!

If you are looking for a stay and play week of fun, sun, food, booze, and meeting interesting people, look no further. The Catalonia excels at customer satisfaction. Gorgeous grounds, perfect weather, a destination I would look forward to returning to and recommending.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Exceeds expectations - lovely holiday

A thorougly enjoyable experience; resort has depth, and many options for things to do; location is good, within easy reach of a number of off-resort activities. Beach is lovely, and snorkelling right off the beach provides rich views of tropical fish and turtles. Staffing levels are high, and staff are attentive, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Riu Playacar: Excellent Service

Stayed the week of February 9th. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a clean, and well run resort. The beach is one of the best I have been to the water is shallow quite a way out and the sand is white and soft. Lots of lounge chairs and many Palm trees offer shade if you want it. The swim up bar was a lot of fun, the bartenders work hard to make sure you have a good time. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and there is plenty of hot water and nice clean towels everyday! This is the smallest of the Riu's in this area but I think that adds to it's charm and personal touches. We walked twice into Playa de Carmen to check out the shop etc. It is an easy 30 minute walk past some beautiful homes and other resorts. Plus added bonus there is a Starbucks right across the road!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Family vacation

Loved the resort! Travelled with my spouse and 18 month old baby. This is definitely a family resort. The kids water park was amazing. The lobby was a great hang-out place to have a drink or enjoy cappuccino and ice cream. The food selection and restaurants were all wonderful. The service was on the slower side. Our only complaint was the noise in our room during evening entertainment and disco when our baby was asleep. Seaweed was not a major issue during our stay. It all depends on the winds/ currents

Ocean Maya Royale: Nice visit

The resort itself was nice, rooms clean and grounds well kept. They had a mix-up with our reservation and we were transferred to a neighbouring resort for 3 nights and then transferred back for 7 seven nights. We were upgraded to "Privilege Status" which I understand costs quite a bit extra. I personally wouldn't pay for this as I don't see much value. We found the private beach area rather boring. We ended up spending our time at the "regular" pool area as this seemed to be where everything was [... read more] happening. The entertainment wasn't great except for the fire show the last night we were there. I didn't like that they don't have shuttles into Playa del Carmen (or anywhere else for that matter) but you can book your excursions on site. We were given a coupon for a free five night stay for the inconvenience of moving around, but will have to wait and see if there is any problem in the follow through. Food was excellent. We ate mostly in the buffet but did try the Italian restaurant and it was delicious. Miguel at the pool bar was fantastic and the activity crew at the pool were great.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Good value-Excellent food

We had a pool side one bedroom suite on the ground floor. This is probably the best accommodation at the resort for ease of access to the pool and for the view. Service was excellent. Do not be deceived by your first impression when you get off the bus from the airport. The resort entrance is not flashy and the registration area is minuscule. The long winding pools are never crowded. Food was exceptionally tasty if you know what to order. If you eat at the KhoThai restaurant, do not hesitate to ask the waiter to explain the various dishes and how spicy they are. The first time there we were most disappointed with our choice. The second time we asked for Alex to be our waiter. Alex was one of 8 students on a 3 month work term from the Institut de l'hotellerie et de tourisme, of Montreal. After listening to our general preferences, Alex composed a complete menu for our candlelight dinner. It was an amazing and unforgettable meal. Esmeralda at the front desk will solve any problem you may have. Jesus Marquez at the Azzero Restaurant will explain every dish and make excellent suggestions. We enjoyed greatly our two-week stay and would have stayed longer.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Grand Serinis was much more than the pictures show

Amazing grounds.....so lush. Wildlife was abundant. The picture did not do it justice. The beach was the best I have ever been to for calm and snorkeling. The ala carts I visited were great and the main lobby buffet had great breakfasts. Never ate room service so I can not comment.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Very Nice Resort!

The only reason I didn't give the Barcalo 5 starts is because of the travel time from Cancun after an already long day of travel. Resort was fabulous, the food was good, the pools clean and no chlorine!! Beach was excellent and the rooms just what you need.
