Bahia Principe Explore Coba: First Family Vacation

My husband has been to this resort twice, this being his third time, my first. We have a 7 month old son and were hesitant on how he would handle being out of routine. I must say I was completely blown away how the staff had went above and beyond to accommodate us. Everything from giving us a crib, to finding food that he could eat, giving us extra water bottles for formula and washing his bottles, playing with him and just being overall friendly. The hotel itself is enormous. You can't see it  [... read more]all in one week. The groups were impeccable, the dolphin show was superb. I can't rant and rave enough about this resort. If I had to find a fault my ONLY thing would be that the beach area was a little rocky... But it wasn't anything a pair or sandals couldn't fix. We will definitely be going back next winter.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Awesome Resort

We had our family reunion during our stay and the staff was fabulous. They were able to accommodate all 17 of us in the same building which was awesome. The grounds and pools are pristine and our kids loved the lazy river. There is a fair bit of walking on the resort but it is great for exploring. The beaches were small but had amazing snorkeling due to the coral reefs. The buffet was delicious they had plenty of options even our picky eaters had no problems with the food. Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Nice place if you don't want pool or beach

Great hotel but if you want to enjoy the pool or beach you will be disappointed. The beach is cleaned of the seaweed but you have to be careful where you settle yourself as many areas smell like swamp. There are two kids pools, one small shallow one where the water is at good temperature, the second larger kids pool with slides is cooler because its deeper and larger, so as long as its sunny your good. but if its cloudy/ rainy it is too cold. The large adult pool that is one of those long lagoon [... read more] like pools, is FREEZING! On the hotest of days I saw maybe 10 people go in (not for long periods of time). On a regular day I saw maybe 2/3 people people. So.... if you are an adult that wants to enjoy the pool and not be shocked by the cold pool you have to pay $60 USD per person per day for access to the 'concierge' area that has a heated pool. Just know that all the families are either buying passes or sneaking in. It is a packed pool.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: The best.

My wife and I have just returned from our seventeenth holiday at Royal Hideaway so obviously we enjoy the Resort. When we arrive we feel like we are coming to our second home with the welcome we receive from the staff, many of them have been there for a number of years. The grounds continue to mature and are meticulously maintained. When you walk along the main path with it's ponds, stream and fountains you would think you are in the midst of a grand estate. It is a unique property unlike any ot [... read more]hers we have stayed at or seen. The rooms are always nice, comfortable and cleaned and attended to twice a day. The warm coloured marble and tile in the room never goes out of style. The best part is the outstanding food in all of the restaurants. The quality and presentation is as good or better than you would find in any major city. Along with the great food the service from the staff is outstanding and this year my wife and I thought the staff were better than ever. One of the best things we find is meeting friends from past years who feel the same way as us about the Resort. Another highlight for us is the live entertainment throughout the property and the Mexican shows twice a week in the banquet hall. Actually the dancing by the activity staff was another highlight. The only concern that we had was the condition of the uprights on the room patios which have been damaged by the salt air from the water. All of the horizontal railings have been replaced with new painted aluminium structures and the General Manager informs me that the uprights will be replaced starting in April. Other than that we think Royal Hideaway is an outstanding Resort that we can't wait to get back to.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Amazing Resort

Hotel was great, I would go back any time. Junior Suite Room is very generous, we had two queen size beds. Very nice view from our balcony we could see the ocean and the garden, lots of tropical flowers.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: All around great trip!

We had a great stay at the bahia Coba. The resort is beautiful and very well maintained. The food was great. Our two daughters loved the waterpark and we spent time there everyday. My only complaint would be that the pools were very cold.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Amazing Resort

Everything was 5 star. Rooms were so clean and nice. Housekeeping made cool towel origami everyday. Food was 5 star in the buffet and the fine dining restaurants.Service was exceptional and super friendly. Lots of fun activities going on throughout the day. The breakwater allowed ocean swimming everyday and the reef out front had some beautiful fish and coral to see. Shopping in the hacienda was good. the trams run all the time so it was no problem getting around. The disco was good too. Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great Vacation spot!

My wife and I travelled to the Royalton for the second week of February with our 8 month old infant and had a near perfect vacation. The resort is gorgeous and everything is brand new. The food was fantastic and offering 9 a la carte restaurants without reservations and unlimited vists was a great way to provide variety. The pools could be fantastic but given the resort is still new, some of them would be closed for work, the splash pad wasn't always operating and only one of the pools were heat [... read more]ed. The beach was great! Some prior reviews complained about constant seaweed but we didn't see any of it. The one complaint I would have is about the service at the a la carte restaurants. Maybe all of the staff are not fully up to speed, but we experianced very long wait times for food once we were seated and the hostess process struggled as well. Overall, once the restaurants improve their service, I think this could be one of the best resorts in Mexico.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Excellent service

This resort has everything you could want on vacation ...the staff and service was excellent, food delicious. sun, pools, sand etc. It is a large resort which was great for me because I like walking for exercise but you could take the trolly as well..

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing

Everything about Grand Sirenis Riveria Maya was amazing!!! We have no complaints... It was our 1st going out of Canada and we now planning to go every year... The people there are so amazingly friendly ad the food wa awesome.:. I'm so glad I had the pleasure to go and see this amazing place!!!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: great for relaxing getaway

I had read the reviews and was worried but I guess it all depends on your mindset. My husband and I had a very relaxing vacation. I am thinking that most people don't put a lot of thought into where they are going and wjat they want from their vacation. We were happy to eat at whichever restaurant was open and had tbe shortest line. We loved the hammocks on the beach towards the family side. Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great resort, not fully ready to open though.

Had a wonderful trip. No complaints. Important to know lots of finishing work going on all around resort like landscaping, repair work to things done badly first time. Lots of unmarked level changes on walkways, witnessed many falls because of it. Good food, clean facilities. Helpful staff.

Grand Sunset Princess: A HUGE dissapointment!

This an example of a mega resort. It's listed as a 670 room resort, when in fact it has yet another 670 rooms on the other side, plus another 200 platinum rooms all sharing the same beach! It was hard if not impossible to find any lounge chairs pool side or beachside. Let me start with the beach, the water was rough and murky when I was there. For the couple of hours when the water was its calmest during my 1 week stay, I still wouldn't have considered venturing in for all of the rocks in my way [... read more]. I saw lots of people with cuts on there feet, ankles, legs. Also, a lady was bitten (puncture marks) in the water. The ocean is where I love to spend my time, so this was very disappointing! You definitely want to to pack a bag if you plan to stay down for the day because it's a long way back to your room if you are not platinum. The beach was never cleaned or raked once. Lots of vendors going back and forth including the spa staff. Quite a few beds on the beach for a massage, however they offer no privacy right next to the volleyball court. Could barely see the sand for the amount of lounge chairs. Never saw them cleaned either. Food at the beach was just hamburgers hot dogs and nachos. Just ok, and definately no smiles from the server. Had to wait in line for drinks. No waiters offering to bring you a drink either. Tried the chill up bar once. With fee and free wifi. Ordered food, it was just ok. I ordered the nachos assuming retried beans meant vegetarian, that didn't happen. Took quite a while (45 minutes) for food and drinks to come. Didn't go back again. Beds were super hard, have come to expect this, so no surprise there. Awful musty smell, stayed on ground floor. Toilet overflowed twice. Yuck! Maid service was inconsistent at best even with regular tipping. ie. Face cloths were there the first day, then had to ask every other time at front desk. Food was ok at buffet, kids liked the Italian ala carte (of course). Miso was good. Walked out of the steak restaurant ( no point) no filet, only Flinstone size T bone and ribeye. Couldnt find the meat for the fat. Steaks came with a 1/2 a baked potato and half a cob of corn (both dead dry). To summarize, I can usually make do just about anywhere, and make the best out of a situation. I understand the staff work hard etc.This is a vacation after all. I didn't realize this was a mega resort because it was advertised as only 670 rooms, which I thought was already at the top end of my comfort level. My teenage boys loved the competition on the volleyball court. Pool was to cold in January to swim. No beach swimming, to dangerous. Staff ok. No real stand outs other than the sports bar. Terrible, horrible, awful wine! Checked the wine list to purchase (highway robbery) went to the liquor store in Playa del Carmen (must do)! Excursion, snorkelling and lunch at Maroma Beach. Snorkelling and beach were just ok, lunch was good. Won't ever return!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Wild resort

Great resort had all kinds of animals roaming the resort ,lizards monkeys,deer...and a few I can't remember the names. More birds you can shake a stick at...even saw an owl. Xcaret is a must see my favorite the turtles. The evening show is a must see. A resort hidden in the jungle. Wife and I loved it.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: 5 star all the way

This is the nicest resort I have ever stayed at in Mexico, the Butler Service was fabulous the Diamond Club package is the way to go! Kids pools are on one side, more adult areas on the other but both close to each other so the best of both worlds.

Riu Palace Riviera Maya: Fantastic Resort

I simply adored my stay at the Riu Palace in Playa del Carmen. I did not want to leave. The food was exquisite! So much selection and all delicious. The location is fantastic with shopping so close! The beach was glorious! Everything is so well organized and worry free. But what impressed me the most was the staff from the Lady cleaning our room (Cecilia) to the waiters in the restaurants (Mary, Ana, Carlos and Mendez) who made our stay so special. They always remembered what we liked and got su [... read more]ch a wonderful farewell the night before we left with a special attention to the setting of our table with flowers and decorations. How thoughtful and so greatly appreciated. The entertainment team (Andrea) were also fantastic with all the activities and who kept us laughing and well entertained in the evening. Everyone works so hard to provide a wonderful stay with attention to details. I must say that customer service exceeded beyond our expectations. I only have one suggestion. An awning should be installed on top of the window of the towel building by the pool. With the afternoon sun, it's like an oven in there. Please provide some comfort for the attendants. Riu Palace in Playa del Carmen is truly a 5 stars Hotel. You have created a true paradise and I wish you great success and prosperity. Grand Oasis Riviera: fantastic staff all round

beautiful beach and very comfy beds!!the rooms were so so not what we would call amazing..sorry grand oasis..you are missing a clear direction and we were getting very mixed messages!! i know its supposed to be the ''calm resort'' but with absolutly no music in any out side areas but banging and construction in al the hallways and outside that was not calming, but sad!!we had many issues with this...food was basic as were the drinks..if you wanted premium you had to pay and we were in the grand  [... read more]section..humm not so grand! disapointing stay,we had booked a balcony and were given a room with only a window that did not open!! requested a room change and were given one the following day on first floor with a walk out to pool..much nicer but had a musty smell and the plumping traps in bathroom were not done properly so had the gasses coming into room at times from rooms above! we were also constantly harrased by the life styles staff to come on a ''tour'' for a free bottle of tequila..yep! thats why we spent the extra money hoping for a ''grand experiance'' NOT...also listening to every one we came in contact with complaning about their experaince was very sad//thank heaven we didnt stay on the reg oasis side..they were truely miserable there!!BUT on the upside we did have some wonderful experiances with the staff..all very hard working people true of heart and trying hard to make our visit a pleasant one..i would like to thank Noeli Gomez in the ''coffee and me'' shop for making us amazing coffee every morning[the stuff they call coffee in the buffet was gross] she was so pleasant and always had a smile and we always enjoyed going there..thanks for the laughs Noeli!!and the buffet staff were lovely and made our last night fun with some of our new and old friends with ''tequila boom booms''......also 3 of us ladies indulged in the best massages at the spa!! big thankyous go to Bruce in the SPA and i forget his name but the argentianan man with the pony tail...we must say gave us the best massages ever..i always request a female but couldnt this time BUT you made us all feel so comfortble and you made a convert out me! i will request a male next time thanks to this experiance!! we also did a mayan ritual on the resort with the argintenian man out side on the beach within the steam room ..i think is as called the ''tekelum''..very spirtual and i highly recommend it!!WOW..loved that part of this resort!! well thats it..good and bad..ps the front desk staff were very unfriendly and sour..proberly because of the constant complaints!..so sorry Grand Oasis i couldnt give you a better review..we are expected better and will definatly come back to tulum mexico but NOT to the oasis!

Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel: wonderful exotic escape

the location of the resort in the mayan jungle, surrounded by mangroves, sinotes and lagoons with its abundant flora and fauna makes for an other worldly experience. it is twice blessed in its location because it also sits on a beautiful stretch of white sandy beach which is very swimmable. the service is caring and attentive (although one does encounter some hiccups - when do you not). the food is good. the rooms are huge and well appointed. get a bike to get around the 2 km property.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Beautiful resort

My husband and I stayed here from Jan 28 - Feb4/15. We've been at this location several times in the past, the last time approximately 6 years ago. Many new additions, very beautiful mall. One thing we noted now is there are a lot of young kids at this resort, never bothered us but seems to be geared more to families. The grounds spotless, food great, especially the Seafood and Japanese restaurants. Rooms cleaned daily, staff great, pools spotless, beach kept clean, lots of chairs. Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Good resort

This resort is large and has very good amenities, but the beach is quite far away and is on the rocky side. The pools are great with an activities pool and two swim up bar pools. There is also a whirlpool are separate from the rest. The restaurants are good with great ambiance. The buffet is terrific and has a great variety. The grounds are very well kept and the rooms are quite nice. The staff are helpful but the staff for entertainment are a bit quiet and sparse.
