TRS Turquesa: Superb Amenities, Many Helpful Staff but...
Excellent facilities (gym, spa, restaurants, bars, rooms, etc.), very clean, excellent food. This was our 2nd visit and 4th to a Palladium chain. The majority of staff were friendly and very responsive. Reception staff in the RST lobby however were quite impersonal... little eye contact, appeared to have some difficulty understanding English and provided minimal information in response to questions. Upon arrival we were greeted with cold, wet towels and reception staff who treated us as numbers [... read more]rather than guests. This was different than our first visit when we truly felt welcomed as part of the RST family. Also, for both visits, menu service in the Royal Suites dining room was extremely slow and in this case, the food was cold.
Great value for the price... but room for improvement!

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Not recommended
We arrived at the resort (myself and my 2 adult kids) at about 2:15 pm and was told our room would be ready at 3:00. We finally got the room at around 6:30.
I am not that picky about the room I stay in. I like it clean, half decent water pressure in the shower, comfortable bed. The room we finally end in up in was the 3rd room they had given us. The first was never ready (they kept telling us 15 minutes until I asked to speak with the manager - never connected), in the second room we were[... read more] sent to, the room hadn't completed being cleaned (no towels, some beding not there, ...).
The 3rd room was very run down. Toilets with seats that were broken, crooked light switches, no lights to see into closets, safe faceplate was broken, no floor towel, no hand towels (and multiple days they didn't replace the towels at all). There were 3 towels. No amount of going to front desk or calling made any difference.
The unit had two rooms and each had a bathroom. About the 5th night, we returned from the evening outing and the floor of the larger of the bathrooms was flooded with water dripping from above. After multiple calls to the front desk, I was told that no one was on duty and it would have to wait until the morning. About two hours later, knocking at my door woke me up and it was a maintenance person.
I spoke with the Sunquest rep. on site but nothing was ever done.
We made the best of this expense vacation (the beach was nice and the food was above average) but I would never recommend this establishment.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Pretty good resort
Overall, the resort was great. This was the first time we took our kids (5 & 7) to an all inclusive, so I learned a few things.
1. I might upgrade to a bigger room next time. The rooms were the most disappointing thing. Just two beds- literally. Nowhere to put your clothes, nowhere to hang anything wet (the line in the bathtub was moldy). Everything had to stay in the suitcases and on top of tables...the bathroom wasn't really separate, so that was interesting. It was obviously older, but th[... read more]at doesn't bother me. The lack of space...different story. Sometimes our room wasn't cleaned until 4 pm.
2. Nightly entertainment was late. Shows started at 9:30. My kids can't stay up that late, so unfortunately we (they) didn't see anything.
3. Pools and beach were perfect, and really, that's the most important part. Excellent for the kids.
4. Food was fine, nothing close to Secrets, where we stayed last time in Punta Cana. A la cartes were pretty good, buffet was fine. Coco's cafe was fantastic, with pastries and sandwiches, cappuccinos and lattes until late. I miss the cafe already. Beach restaurant was great.
5. Kids club was underwhelming for us, but luckily the kids were busy and entertained all day swimming anyway- we didn't need it.
6. The grounds were very well kept and clean. Staff were not overly friendly, but they also didn't hassle you, which was nice. There's always people tying to sell you stuff, but thats at every resort.
I would go back to this resort, but I would inquire about a different room. We had a lovely vacation with a few minor issues, but overall, it was great.

Puerto Plata Village: met expectation
The hotel met our described expectations, as we were expecting a 3.5 stars. So don't expect 5 stars at a 3.5 as that's unrealistic. Proximity of pool, lobby, restaurants was convenient, which we prefer. Shuttle ran regularly to beach. You can walk too, about 7 min leisurely stroll. There was lunch buffet and bar at private Sandy beach. Able to get loungers and lots of room. Our check in could have been quicker. Supposed to be 3:00 but not ready until 4:00. The room we got wasn't like the website[... read more] photos. It was stark white and in much need of some colorful decor. We happened to buy Puerto Plata bright towels to spread about for extra tropical vibe. Otherwise room was maintained and clean. A/c worked. Would recommend they install ceiling fans as an alternate to keep humidity under control as the ceiling started to get humidity build up by end of trip. Probably due to the fact we actually had hot water, so steam probably didn't vent well enough. Pool was large and kids had a blast playing. Lots of loungers and swim up bar. The other bar and restaurants are in close proximity so getting drinks, food was convenient. Entertainment staff was available poolside and in the evening for Games, jokes, dancing, shows etc. Dance group who did the Friday and Saturday show was a hot mess but they tried? Would rather just salsa with the entertainment staff! We happened to have a partly rainy week... can't control the weather. So beach front developed more seaweed than kids liked. There was a crew who cleaned it up in the morning. Enjoyed both the buffet and all carte all inclusive dining. No complaints...typically hot foods, carving station, breads, salads, fruits and desserts. Typical Caribbean / Spanish choices combined with North American cuisine. Staff spoke primarily Spanish but we managed to get English and on occasion French when needed. Day trip to nearby Ocean Park was good except it rained, but it can be a rainy day trip and they sell rain ponchos so was OK. Again, can't control the weather. Kids still managed to do most things. Overall, hotel generally met expectations.
My husband and I just got back from Breathless Resort and Spa Punta Cana celebrated our 15th year wedding anniversary. When i booked our trip I upgraded it to xhale club with swim up pool the room is beautiful but complained after 2 nights because our room is at the end beside alley way where workers loading and unloading their stuff. We went to the club and spoke to Gilberto he was very helpful and go beyond. We ended up upgrading our room to exhale club master suit ocean view room 2394...one [... read more]of the best room at the resort paid extra US$500 with Gilberto's help we got a discount yes, for me its worth it..its a luxury room with 2 bathrooms, huge living room and king size bed and 2 jazzucci inside our room and at the balcony. We treated like King and Queen...bed made twice a day with a surprised every night with chocolates, champagne etc...and fridge is fully stocked everyday. We got calls every morning if we needed something and to make sure everything is OK. Gilberto, you are amazing, thank you very much for making our vacation so special. Also, our butler Papa Eudi...thank you very much for everything you did for us....and the surprised you did on our last night was unforgettable..you guys know how to treated your guest so special. I also need to thanks Black Armani for a great pool workout...you rock man. Also to Martina for always giving us a welcoming smile and for cooking my calamari as requested. Its a fun fun place...my husband and I had a great time...from day 1 new years eve to the end of our trip. It was one of our best vacation together...great memories for the two of us. I also like that you can walk in to any restaurants when you are ready to eat and not booking in advance. Food is awesome more than i expected except the Japanese restaurant food was OK. We only eat once at the buffett which they have great selection as well and for lunch since we upgrade it to xhale club we have a choice not to go eat at the buffet for lunch. This resort is a party place day and night but also there's a place for those who choice to be in the quite place. At night if you like boom boom music...you'll love it not my kind of music but again you don't have to be there. All in all this resort I'll give it a five star.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Cozy resort on great beach location
This is a small adults only resort located on amazing beach. Rooms and grounds are immaculate. Every room has a view. The buffet restaurant has limited options but they are fresh and well prepared. The a la carte restaurants lack sophistication, however all food was well prepared, they lacked finesse. Vibe rooms with plunge pools are fantastic. The additional terrace space includes a lounge where you can relax on return from the beach, or enjoy after dinner drinks while still listening to e[... read more]vening entertainment from the plaza. As my vibe room was not available on my first night, the resort offered a free massage as compensation in their intimate spa. Spa experience was excellent and professional. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort, nice resort.
Attractive Hotel, nice pool , very nice beach and swimming area. Beach vendors are not pushy but a bit tiring.
Food mixed: Meat and fish very good, as were the vegetables. Plenty of variety for Lunch and evening meals. In Fruit there was little choice only a few varieties. Fruit Juice too sweet and sticky.
Morning: cereals OK but little choice and the porage was way too thin.
Entertainment strictly for youth.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Bahia El Perfecto!
Our stay was truly memorable. This hotel excelled when it came to service! The common areas and pools we clean and maintained all day long. The restaurants were excellent - we really enjoyed the variety and quality of food. Our room was perfect for our family of 4 and the twice a day tidy and towels were really appreciated. I would recommend and already have done so to friends and family! Great job Bahia team!

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Great place for family vacation
We had adjoining junior suites at the Esmeralda Hotel , large, clean ,beautiful , spacious well decorated rooms, large bathrooms, and well stocked mini fridge.
The pools are great, but pool chairs were always reserved with towels, but no guests ever actually using these reserved chairs.
Fantastic beach and water was close to the hotel, but again chairs reserved and unused by those reserving them. Children's water park was great for the little ones, and the play area near the hotel was fun for[... read more] the kids.
Buffet meals became boring after 3 days. It was difficult to impossible to get reservations at the specialty restaurants, so don't be attracted to that option, as it probably won't be available. The Italian restaurant which we finally got to, was not worth it, as the food was poor quality. The Asian restaurant was really good.

Occidental Caribe: Very nice resort!
The grounds at this huge hotel were spectacular! I loved the beach the best, great for a long walk, sand was soft to walk on and not hot, and not too much seaweed in this area! There were waves every day and the kids loved that!

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Great small resort!
The resort was clean and well maintained. The food was good in the buffet but pretty much the same each day. I only liked the meddeterrain a la carte restaurant. We spent most of our time at the main pool and it was great. Just the right amount of entertainment. Overall I would recommend this resort as a great place to relax for a week.

Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Disappointed with Turquesa
Having stayed previously and been impressed with the quality of facilities and service in another Turquesa hotel in Cancun, we booked the Grand Bahia and Turquesa in our first visit to Punta Cana. From Day 1, we were disappointed with the level of service here. We were not allowed to reserve more than one Ala Carte hotel in our 5 nights stay there. No internet in the rooms unless paid! No welcome gifts! No adjoining rooms and type of beds that was requested and paid for during the booking. Som[... read more]ewhat half-hearted Christmas celebrations! They insisted that was their policy- max 2 restaurant reservations allowed for a 5 night stay (even with 2 rooms), and they counted the Christmas-eve buffet dinner as one of the allowed two! And we had to pay for the wine there. The rooms itself were good and clean, and the beach was excellent. Overall Turquesa seemed like a poor cousin amongst the rest of the Grand Bahia properties!

Breathless Punta Cana Resort: Very nice hotel, Thank you Angela, Sunwing was terrible
The hotel is modern and more hotel than resort, but very pleasant and relaxing. Everything is clean and well maintained, when you need something just ask and they will provide.
The restaurants offer a large variety of food and a good service, we were very pleased.
We spent an enjoyable week.
Only bad memory Sunwing service even upgrading to Elite plus we didn't receive any food, barely a cup of water and the ground transportation in Punta Cana late and disrespectful.

Whala Bayahibe: Whala in Bocachica marina rm. garden view
Please read first the bad review about any resort, judge it accordingly. I red the bad review about this resort but did not quit believe I was dearly wrong!
I was surprised seeing the resort room in the building called "marina" because of the condition of the that particular building at Wala Bocachica. I paid the lowest price be meaning of not the: Ocean, pool etc. but garden view presumably was just the view and not room condition. The room ceiling (joists) were bare wood (not stained or pai[... read more]nted) and rusted bold holding the wood planks underneath the joists also water stains from the floor above (molds etc.) The safe was an antic (Flintstone era type) box with the removable (lucking) top and ordinary key that required $ 50 deposit in case of a lost and $ 3 USD / day! Beds (2) were OK. Wash room did not have a towel hanger but in the toilet / bath room had one hanged over the toilet! The old analog bulky 21- inch TV with satellite that good number of channels did not work!
The sink was very high for my wife being short (5.2') to wash her face and brush the teeth properly! Next room was the toilet and bath that the toilet paper roll was installed on the wall lower that the toilet bowel (if a male urinate standing had a good chance to wet the toilet roll)! Above the tub suspended ceiling the metal track was rusted and moldy from the licking above floor PS. had once dripping water!
I complained about the Room and they gave me chance to see in the same building different room which was worst that mine. After dislike they sent us to the Adults only separate building and it was 3+ star rooms with modern Safe / TV etc. I was happy that they were considering our expectation but with a surprise discounted extra charge price of near $ 500 USD for two weeks! We did not want extra $500 USD (beside our $ 4,970 Canadian money for the 14 days for 2 persons including medical insurance) to pay!
We spoke with Sunwing rep. at the resort who blame the Tripcentral for not telling us what kind of room we paid at this hotel.. I proof them that Tripcentral purchased the Sunwing advertisement of 3 star hotel and in no way they are part of Sunwing to know what is happening at Wala Bocachica!
Apparently they have up to about 4 braces colors according to room condition and view at this resort and not the adult building! We are not fussy people and 99% book 3 star resort in Cuba with no room issues!
We do not recommend this room but other buildings at Wala but "yes" for the better ones! Ps. there is no Brandy alcohol available (probably at the Adults only) we could not drink at that site!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: OK Type Resort
Not a good experience at Cofersi Resort. We reached the resort at 1AM due to flight delay. We were hungry and asked helpdesk if any cafe is open at this time. First they said No and when we asked again they said Yes Pearl is open for snacks till 5AM. We went there to eat, the only thing available there was fries. We asked for ketch up and they said its finished and will be available in the morning during breakfast.
The rooms were not good too. We booked three rooms, In one room the water use t[... read more]o come out while taking shower, in second room the shower was not working properly and in third room the AC was leaking.
We learned very first day that if you don't have VIP Package you don't get to use all the facilities the resort has, It was not mentioned to us while booking the trip. Online it says Wifi is free, when we asked for the password they said you have to pay $60 USD for a week to use WiFi
One thing we like was the entertainment team there. The people (Shofly, Mambo, Tiny and Chocolate) were really good. They kept people involved in all the activities, keep smiling and make people laugh too
