The facilities are superior, the food excellent with one minor exception. The staff pleasant throughout our time at the hotel. We really enjoyed our one week stay and will return sometime in the future.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Super Clean Fantastic Staff

Overall the resort, staff and food were fantastic. The entire trip went well from the flights, transportation, check in and check out. It was well organized and no confusion. Everyone knew we were coming and were very attentive. The only negative is the beach and water. The reef has been destroyed, the water is rough and the sewage smells make swimming unappealing. This leaves the pool scene for getting your water fix. They do have plenty of pools with lots of activities. The drinking is control [... read more]led by diluting the booze so you won't see many drunk individuals. That might be a good thing. We felt safe while on the resort. There are many excursions but the costs are high which increases the cost of the vacation. The area has lots of history and the actual town of Tulum is a very good place to spend a day shopping and eating. I am glad we saw the ruins but disappointed in the beach and the booze.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Great family adventure

I really enjoyed all the activities available, from snorkeling, building sandcastles, jungle walks, water slides, kidsclub, to a pyrotechnics superhero show! The food was excellent and staff were friendly.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: great resort, great service

Resort was fantastic, lots of seaweed on the beach but still beautiful,would definitely recommend the swim out room, worth the extra charge, restaurants fantastic, resort staff were friendly and helpful, always making sure we had everything we needed. Would go back!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: awesome vacation - amazing resort

I have been to Dominican twice, Cuba 3 times, Cancun and Jamaica once each. Valentin Imperial Maya had the best rooms by far. We have been to some nice resorts but this one was the best for the accomodations .Perfect for honeymooners or to rekindle.I'm used to the humid moldy smell but this resort had none of that. It was amazing. Food was outstanding. We didn't even go to the buffet once for dinner. The only negatives were poor WiFi connection, made it difficult to face time the kids, but not the end of the world. Very windy...it was red flag most of the week so we didn't get to enjoy the beach and swim in the ocean. Not the resort's fault but still a bummer. The pools were awesome. We were in complex 7 with the private pool (Golden Junior Suites). You can order food right by the pool. It's a limited menu but it was delicious and the presentation was very impressive. It was so peaceful, quiet, it was just awesome. Looking for a party, the main pool was so big that you could always find a spot that had more action. Drinks were all good, premium liquor available. We will go back someday fornsure,. Soon I hope :) if you scuba dive, you have to go to Cozumel for a day. We rented a jeep and stopped at Palancar. Best scuba diving ever. Stop by Coconuts bar and grill, food is just not, but it's an experience.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing vacation!!

The hotel itself was very clean and spacious, staff was friendly and professional. The food surpassed my expectations, far better than any other all inclusive I have been to! Beach was a little rocky, but we knew that before we went....

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Great family vacation

We had a great vacation and enjoyed the resort. We travelled with our 1.5 year old son, and while the resort is not geared directly at families, it was family friendly enough to make us comfortable, and there were lots of families with kids there. There were high chairs at all restaurants, and a small children’s wading pool that the kids loved to splash in. A few odds and ends of toys were around the pool, of varying quality and availability. A kids menu was on offer at all restaurants, althou [... read more]gh you often had to know to ask for the selections - usually pasta with butter or tomato sauce, chicken nuggets, burger, cheese pizza, or cheese quesadilla. My son also loved the balloon animals that the servers at the poolside restaurant Castaways would make for him at lunch time. He was too young for the kids club, which is for 3 and over, but the kids looked like they were having fun on the trampoline each day. Service was universally good throughout the resort. Wait staff were excellent, quick service for both drinks on the beach and in restaurants, housekeeping was very good and accommodating to our napping toddler’s schedule, check-in and front desk service also very quick and helpful. We particularly enjoyed not having to deal with towel cards or restaurant reservations - and because we were usually dining early at 5:30 or 6, we never had to wait for a table. We also enjoyed the free wifi. We did end up upgrading to the Preferred building after our first night. The regular rooms are lovely for couples, but have an odd sunken living room with two steps and no railing. After watching our son climb up and down with terror and fall several times on the marble floor, we decided to upgrade to a preferred room which had a flat layout and also a door separating the bedroom and living area. The upgrade to a tropical view room on the second floor was $40 a night, which we felt was worth it (oceanview would have been $60). These rooms are close to the adults only pool, and a little further from the family pool and main beach area, but the resort is well laid out and from end to end only about a 5 minute walk, so not a big deal. We enjoyed access to the Preferred Lounge as well, to get snacks throughout the day, coffee, milk for my son, and my husband enjoyed the self-serve top shelf liquors. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi on the balcony - went in with our swimsuits on as there is not a lot of privacy, but it was a nice way to end the day. Floors were very slippery, and we had to be quite careful, particularly after coming out of the shower and around the pool deck. Food was quite good throughout the resort. Breakfast buffet excellent, lunch service by the pool was good (loved the fish tacos, and the fresh chips and guacamole) and dinner at the Italian, French and Mexican was good. Even the buffet at dinner was surprisingly good, and I am not usually a buffet person. We liked being able to get snacks and coffee at the coffee shop throughout the day, and room service was decent, although not speedy. Before arriving, I was most concerned about the beach, because we love to swim in the ocean and I had read some negative reviews. However, the beach was great! Yes, there are some areas with rocks, but there are also long stretches of white sand that are easy to walk in. And there is a bit of coral off the shore so you can do a bit of snorkeling which is fun - we also took the snorkeling tour, which picks you up off the beach and takes you by boat 15 min to a national marine park where there is an amazing reef for snorkeling (an hour for $50 per person). And yes, we did experience the huge seaweed accumulation on the beach, but, this is the ocean! There is seaweed. And sometimes, based on weather conditions, this seaweed washes up on shore. The staff worked hard to clear it and within three days, the beautiful white sand beach was back. We sat on the beach every day, and did have to snatch up chairs at breakfast time because there were a lot of people reserving them, but we also saw staff bringing down more chairs to the beach on request. Overall, we had a fabulous time on our vacation and were sorry to have to go home at the end of the week. We have travelled to several other resorts in the Mayan Riviera, and the Now Jade compared well to any of them. I would recommend it without hesitation if you are looking for a good resort experience for a good value.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing rooms!

This was our 5th hot spot trip and we were overwhelmed with the quality and size of the rooms. The tub was big enough for 2 and the showers as well with multiple settings. We had a free 2 night room upgrade and there was a little confusion in the move, we were compensated with fruit baskets, champagne, Tequila and reservations at the Japanese restaurant. The bike tour was enlightning with our knowledgable and good hunoured guide.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: very good , not amazing

very clean resort, rooms were standard with friendly staff, there were no rooms with two queen beds so my son slept on a sofa bed, food was good but you must eat at the different restaurants on site not just the buffets, recommend the kyoto japanese food, pool bar and beach were great

We were for 11 nights. The first 7 were great in every aspect and then we became aware that there was going to be a convention. 2000 people showed up and service tanked. Staff was refocused from service for all and completely focused on the convention. Oon one day we were refused dining indoors and restricted to outside restaurants. Cold food and selection was a whole lot less. If you want to get the service you paid for, this is not the resort for you. They appear to want the commercial busine [... read more]ss only. ALL the people we came in contact with on our return were of the same mind. The tour operator was caught off guard and did not know about the events until the convention started. The resort avoided the tour operators requests for responses and they may be dropping the resort from their list of choices.

Catalonia Yucatan: mayan retreat

it was a very nice resort, people were fantastic. rooms good. my only complaint was that a la carte restaurant did not prebook so waiting in line was long. but once in the food was very good. prebooking would save the guests a lot of time.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing place, had the best holiday

Excellent holiday get away can't wait to go again. The food was the best and the service was exceptional. I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a very relaxing holiday, the people that ran it were very helpful with all our daily needs as we do not speech spanish.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Wow Awesome Resort!

Grounds were immaculate. Service outstanding! Beach a bit of seaweed but cleaned up daily...... Amazing ....Lots to do! Excellent Value.... Very friendly servers, front desk reception , bar tenders, housekeepers...... Just Loved It!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Fantastic Resort

Everyone who posts a negative to this resort doesn't travel very much. It could be that they are very fussy. It could be they have nothing better to do then complain. People need to relax and enjoy their holidays. Ive been to many places good and bad. We were in Cuba last November and couldn't wait to get home. This place allows you the want to stay and come back. We couldn't get a drink finished and another one was in our hands. Head into the restaurants. yes sometimes there is a little wait. At home when you go to a good restaurant your waiting. Its night time. Who's in a hurry to eat anyways?? Unless your a complainer and need something to complain about. Stop by the Hunter restaurant and ask for Christian. Very good server. Always smiling. Many restaurants ti choose from and in our 9 days we tried them all. All exceptional. Drinks were all premium which is a good thing for those who crave their brand of cocktail while travelling. After your day of cocktails and eating the room are way above the Mexican standard for this area. Well done Royalton. Ive now installed a rain shower in our house because my wife loved the way it was. Always loved the mornings. We were in a swimsuit room. Kids got up and went for a swim in the swim out pool. Water was a little warmer then the pools. Beach was fantastic. Yes there was some seaweed that washes up on shore when its windy but please its nature. Not Royaltons fault. The beach is so big who cares. They clean it all the time. Didn't stop myself and the kids from throwing the football around in the water. After our throwing of the football Victor was always there with a drink for us. Alcohol or non alcohol he knew what we wanted. Cheers to Victor. The only thing that Royalton needs to do is to add some bathrooms by the pools so there is a place to go after drinking those cocktails. If your wavering on this place please don't. One of the best in the Myan if not the best. Go know while it cheap and take advantage of it. Bravo Colin and Stephen Hunter love what you have done. Please try and get some Canadian feed into the spots lounge. Love to watch a Raptors or Leafs game from the bar. Last thing is the drive from the airport. We stayed at Dream Tulum last year. 2 hour drive. Royalton was 22 minutes from airport to their front door. Forget about the 11 minute drive in from the highway. Sit back and have a corona enjoy your trip.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Hidden Gem

The food, room quality and staff friendliness at this resort is beyond any other resorts that we have stayed at. The golf course is on site and excellent. This was our second time at the Sian Ka'an and we will be back again.

TRS Yucatan: Really 4 1/2 but almost 5

This is a great hotel with a wonderful staff. The friendliness of the staff was second to none. I really couldn't say anyone staff member stood out, I thought they were all equally wonderful. The a la cartes we attended we very good. The buffets were buffets and I have not been to any resort yet were I find them wonderful....all about the same. The timeshare people (or as they say " travel club") were not in our face pushing their product, so that was good. The rooms were well laid out, comforta [... read more]ble and clean. The reason I give this a 4 1/2 and not a 5 is that the Royal Section Beach was a long way form the Royal Section. Actually at the very opposite end of the beach, and then it's only a roped off section off the beach front and set back more into the trees. Other Royal Sections we have stayed (for example a couple times in Cuba) the Royal section beach was a private beach area right off the Royal Section. Would we go back again? Sure, it was fun and overall a really good time.

Catalonia Yucatan: Yucatan 5 stars, Holiday Inn 0

Worst Vacation in years. We had booked a reverse Park/Stay at the Holiday Inn Express, Toronto Airport. Parked the car, paid in full for our room , but on our return after a week in Pte Adventuras we found that the hotel was fully booked. It was 2.00 am in the morning, there were two full flights from Cancun at that time and there were about 20 of us in the lobby without rooms. My wife and I are in our late 70's, we had to drive 2hrs on snowy,icy roads to get home.A trip I will not do again, eve [... read more]r, nor stay at this hotel again, ever.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Absolutely beautiful

Spent a week in January here at the grand sirenis it was simply wonderful i have never relaxed like that before in my life was there with my fiancé and my oldest daughter and her new fiancé we had a wonderful time ! Food was fantastic. Sight seeing was beautiful. Snorkelling was so fun . The spa was amazing! I know people say they dont go back to the same resort twice but i give this place a big thumbs up and would definitely go again ! Amazing time ,

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: no customer service

I would say this resort is very mediocre and I would not go back. The layout of the whole resort is not very smart. Some rooms are 10 minute walk to beach. The concierge is horrible they have no idea what service is!!! Our friend was injured which the resort was aware of when they came back from the hospital. Our friend could not move out of room due to injury and so could not get food and we were not allowed to bring food to her. So she had to order room service and they charged her $12 fee we  [... read more]had to go through two managers and our travel rep on site in order to have the fee's reversed. There is no understanding or service at all!!! They are also very rude!!!
