Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Good and not so good. Overall: had a good time!

The grounds were very nice, the entertainment was good, the rooms comfortable except for the showers and the beds. The pool area very nice, the food amazing, the beach not so much, people should be advised to bring swimming shoes as there are a lot of rocks.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Happy New Year

The grounds were beautiful. The weather was amazing. Puerto Plata is a rocky region so the ocean has a rock shelf about 40m from the shore to watch out for. The staff were amazingly friendly and made New Year’s Eve incredibly fun.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: fantastic resort!!!

This has been my first trip with my family to Punta Cana and definitely will not be our last. This resort is beautiful and what is great about it is that it has easy accessibility to everything; from pool to ocean, lobby to cafe, ice-cream parlour, and hamburger shop. The resort is also very well maintained and very clean. Service was great and the staff and entertainers are so friendly and easy to talk to. The food is good, however it would be nice to have more than one buffet restaurant to go to. The only thing that I would have like to see is a variety in their foods. Good hotel-very clean, great staff, good food, nice pool (cool) and oodles of lounge chairs. Have had better beaches but not that bad - loved the natural shade trees. Entertainment disappointing. Would recommend

Pleasant atmosphere (for meeting people), beautifully modernized rooms, decent food, fantastic service by all staff (especially Candy Love, Augusto, Carleton, Luis), great activities (tennis, ping pong, volleyball, watersports), perfect beach, well-planned and executed New-Year's Eve show.

Wyndham Alltra Samana: great place

I will come back again is great place the people are very nice the hotel is very clean and the service it is amazing the beach is paradise, the food is great the only problem is the time we have to drive to get to the hotel

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Fully complete resort

The resort is well managed. The room was cleaned well and cleaning staff was friendly. The pool and pool area was clean. The bar services were properly maintained. All staff were able to answer questions and were always wanting to assist.

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana: Very nice resort

This resort is very large. Service and staff were very responsive. Food is good but lacking in salads and vegetables. If you a meat eater than you will really enjoy the food. Very nice amenities. The gym is great. The spa is also very nice. If you are going to do an excursion do one on the catribbean side as the water is clam and beautiful. My only issue is the chairs by the pool. Riu Republica: Resort

The property was very nice & well maintained. There was always a wait to access the specialty restaurants. The Steakhouse was always in demand, but it seemed understaffed. Room service would have made the stay much better.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Truly Amazing Resort

We have been travelling to the Caribean for our winter vacations for the past 20 yrs and the Bahia Principe Bavaro is by far the best resort we have stayed at. It is an overall quality facility, comfortable suites, very clean, and beautifully landscaped, with a georgeous beach, several large pools and numerous eating areas serving excellent food. In a theatre style section we experienced a magic show, an overhead acrobatic performance, a rock singing night; etc; all superior acts. We just can,t say enough about this resort and we will definitely go back.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Good but not great.

This was our first experience at an all inclusive resort and we had seen several good reviews for this one. Our time at the resort was good but not enough for us to say we would definitely return. The beach was beautiful and the kids water park was fun for our kids. Most of the staff do not speak English so knowing a little Spanish helps. We found that tipping the staff did not make any difference in the level of service. There was a good variety in the food at the buffet and it was replenished quickly. The Italian and Mediterranean restaurants were very good, but the Brazilian one was a disappointment. This was the one with the best reviews so we picked it for a family celebration dinner. The service was terrible. Not enough servers so we waited a long time for food. They were however very prompt to bring us the bill for the champagne we ordered. All-in-all a good resort, almost great.

Small venue. Great beach...about 5 minutes walk from hotel but that was ok. First balcony room we were checked into was 2 queens (we asked for king), smelled like sewage, and looked onto a stairwell. Resort changed our room but was still two queens, looked into a stairwell but did not smell like sewage. Team members were not so friendly at first but got more friendly as week went on. Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Sunscape Domencian Beach

When we checked in it was horrible never got the room level we were promised it took them 2 days. Then the food was the same everyday nothing changed . The entertainment was great! Pools and bars great! Staff in the restaurants was awful sometimes you don’t get the food you order. Chopsticks restaurants was the better and freshest food.

Occidental Caribe: Good week away

A lot of positives: incredible beach, nice staff, nice hotel, good a la cartes (especially the Italian and Japanese). A few negatives: lunch and dinner buffet (breakfast is good), overly pushy condo sales team and excursion reps at the beach and pool. Tip the staff and you will have no problems. Fresh towels, room upgrade, great service. Very nice people.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Wonderful Holiday

I must admit the entire resort was amazing. The grounds were clean and they were constantly cleaning everywhere. The food I found very good except the Japanese restaurant which I found better at the Colonial. The meal they put on for Christmas (Christmas Eve) was amazing. The beach well what could I say amazing. I stayed at the adult side and if you want a wonderful great butler you have to get Santiago. He is the best.

I enjoyed this budget adult only all inclusive. For the price I paid, I was happy with the services provided. The beach was beautiful with the mountains in the backdrop and great for nice long walks. The ocean clean and with fun waves. Was there in high season. Enough chairs to go around. No long waits at bars. If you eat early no waits at restaurants. Food was ok. Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: 5 star amenities, 3 star rooms!

This resort has great amenities: pool and beach were clean and well kept. The buffet and bars offer a wide variety of good quality food and drinks. Entertaining team did a great job in pool and nightly events. On the other hand, the rooms are below average. Although spacious, our room was poorly finished. The shower drain was clogged, washroom flush was not effectively working, cleanliness was poor. And room service was slow and ineffective. Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Very Disappointed

Wasn’t a good start as we were supposed to leave Toronto at 6am. While seating in the plane waiting for take off, the smoke alarm in the bathroom kept going off. Finally they asked us to leave the plane as they would put us on another flight in 4 hours😡. They gave us a $20 food voucher which is nice, but we already took our breakfast on the plane and ate. 4 hours later off we go. We landed, got to our hotel and got our room key and went up to the room. As I put the room key in the door somebody on the other side opened the door and the room had already been occupied. Good thing the lady was nice! The bellboy went downstairs, so we had to stay in the hallway for another 15 minutes as it was getting later and when he returned he gave us a key to another room at the far end of the building block 16. We went into that room and it was not a Superior Deluxe room like I paid for. The toilet also did not flush and there was no lock on the sliding door. The shower was a glass stall in the middle of the room and the water from the shower leaked underneath and flooded the floors. There was no privacy at all. The toilet was in a corner also surrounded by a glass door. I called down to the the front desk to tell them my concerns and they assured me it would get fixed. They also told me they had no other rooms to put us in for the night. Came back to the room to find out it had not been fixed yet. So, I went down to the front desk and spoke to a supervisor and he informed me it would get fixed immediately as we went for dinner. After dinner we went back up to our room it was still not fixed. So I called down to the front desk again and got another lady on the phone and she assured me it will get fixed. It is now 10 PM and I’m exhausted. Finally, a maintenance guy and a security guard came up to the room and they were both fixed by 10:30 PM. Our room was at the farthest end of the resort and if you looked out our door it was the Main Street with lots of noise and partying all night. It was the noisiest place ever. Horns honking all night, dogs barking and every morning you could hear the trucks come in with supplies to the resort by 5:30am. Never had a good night sleep at all! There we’re no rooms across from us because we were at the end. When I booked the vacation, I specifically asked for VIP in which I did not get! The room I booked was also supposed to have a desk with a chair and I soaker tub which I needed for my shoulder. That is why I booked that room specifically. I paid $1900 for absolutely nothing. The next morning we went to the front desk to see if we could book some À la cart and they said everything was booked up until Friday. Friday night we booked an à la cart at Mylos. We were sitting near the kitchen as that’s where our table was and we ordered our salads first, my daughter got her salad and was almost done and the server came to remove her plate. I said where is my salad? She looked at me like I had two heads. She says, you ordered a salad? She finally brought me my salad, I ate that and then we got our first course meal. My daughter ordered ravioli and got five little squares. I ordered a lobster linguine and it had one chunk of lobster and about 12 noodles. What a disappointment for a high-end restaurant. As we sat there eating our meal since we were so close the kitchen we heard everybody in the kitchen yelling and screaming dropping plates on the floor it was the noisiest place ever. We left and ate at the buffet because we were still hungry. The next night we ate at the Lobster House which I thought we would get some lobster, well it was $20 a pound if you wanted lobster. Another disappointment. Anyway, we sat down to a very nice meal where we were greeted very nicely and they waited on us hand and foot. The meal was fantastic and everybody was so friendly and that was the first time we ever felt like we were worth something at that resort and that was our last night. Our room was cleaned once in 5 days! At 6pm I had to chase down a maid to get fresh towels. Rooms are to be cleaned everyday. Every morning we ate breakfast at the buffet and we had to seat ourselves. We could actually sit there for 20 minutes without anybody even coming over to ask us if we wanted a coffee or a T and we had our teabags sitting on the table and they just walked past us like we were nothing. I would get up and go get breakfast hoping somebody would acknowledge we were sitting there and bring us back a coffee cup, well that never happened. We had to ask two or three servers for a cup before anyone would finally bring us one. 15 min later. Again, we still tipped. You could really tell these people didn’t enjoy their jobs! During the day they had a restaurant opened so we could walk in and get a hamburger, hot dogs, chicken wings, nachos, and ice cream etc. We went in there everyday and if we went in more that once we got a dirty look. I asked for 2 ice cream and he said, ‘didn’t you already get ice cream?’ Seriously, this is an all inclusive and if I want to go in there 20 times a day I should be entitled to it, shouldn’t I? That happened more than once. As we walked through the hallways and met up with the maids, everybody walk with their heads down nobody was friendly. We tipped graciously every time we got a drink and nobody ever said thank you or anything to us. I got better service at a three star resort then I did at this place. We went down to the beach and apparently since the resort was fully occupied there may have been 10 people in the ocean at once. The beach was absolutely disgusting and the water was full of crap. Filthy, dirty, beach and water. Most of the beach chairs were broke. Too many people selling on the beach and they didn’t leave you alone. I don’t like being pestered when I’m on vacation. Wow, another disappointment. I have never has such shitty service in my whole life out of all the places I’ve been to. I have spent many times at a three star resort and have had the maids say hola every time they passed you and as you’re walking to breakfast and you see the gardeners out there, they would even speak to you. Never happened at The Be Live. Majority of the people working there were very rude. As well as out of 100 people, 5 spoke English. Well, that’s my 2 cents Sorry for ranting, but it’s all the truth. Never again will I go back to this resort or recommend it to anyone!

Alsol Del Mar: great resort

Everything was perfect, just like all the pictures showed. The staff were always on hand to assist us when we need a little help with mobility around the great pool area. The only issue we had was,we only stayed one week and not two. Thanks to all staff.
