Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing Resort

Great restaurants, friendly staff, clean rooms,nice pools, only down side was no ocean to swim in. The man made lagoon was full of seaweed, and smelled badly. They were doing they're best to clean it daily.

Oasis Tulum: Makes the Maya Riviera look bad.

Do not go there.The food was mediocre at best. Too many stew like dishes. I expected better Mexican food. There were more employees than guests walking around doing nothing. The public washrooms were small and stinky. The beach towels were a hit and a miss, one day they were there, the next day they weren t.There were people bothering you to buy time shares or something. The beach was very small and not enough chairs. Condo owners on the same beach that were irate towards the hotel guests(probab [... read more]ly a dispute between the condo owners and the hotel owners)which put the guests in an awkward position. Unnecessary noise everywhere. No change at the cashier. No air conditioning in main restaurant.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Wonderful holiday!

We just arrived from spending four great days at the Gran Bahia Principe Coba. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms clean and comfortable and the beach lovely, but the best are the employees, who always provide excellent service with a smile. I would love to go back.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Been to many resorts, but this one was the best.

One thing I liked was no wrist bands, no towel tags and no reservation required at the specialty restaurants. My room was upgraded to a king size bed and guess what it also had a loft!!!. The bathroom was equipped with a double sink and the shower was fantastic. Our room attendant kept our room we'll cleaned and well stocked and turned down with goodies and an occasional flower. The service at all the restaurants was exceptional the waiters friendly and helpful. For example my grandson who does  [... read more]not like sushi and wanted French fries, the waiter made a special trip to another restaurant to get him some fries. This was the type of service we always received. There was always someone cleaning and the area was always spotless. The bartenders who were always very busy did an outstanding job. They were even great making special drinks for the grand kids. The entertainment was varied and exciting. While sitting on the beach we were never without a drink because the beach servers were always ready to serve. The programs for the kids were great especially the explorer club where the caregivers kept them busy. Guess what else ,my older grandson took scuba lessons and even went diving in the ocean. All in all it was an exceptional vacation.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: everything we wanted!!!

This resort was exactly what we needed!! There was a lot to do but we chose not to do much of anything...service was beyond excellent, the best we've ever had!! I wouldn't recommend paying the extra money for the beach rooms and they do not have an ocean view, you just quicker access to the beach.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: This resort was awesome!!!

The dining areas were clean and well presented with an excellent variety of foods. The beach and pool areas had enough lounge chairs for everyone, and were well supervised. There was plenty to do either at the pool or at the beach. The rooms were fantastic and you can't ask for a friendlier staff. Ever so helpful and cheerful at all times. The gym area was clean and had a good variety of fitness equipment. The SPA was fantastic, offering everything a man could think of to pampering his wife. Grand Palladium Colonial: Great stay

Hotel was very clean. Food overall pretty good and dealt well with a dietary concerns. Japanese and Italian à la cartes were not good: slow service and below average food. BBQ, Brazilian and Mexican were great. Beautiful beach and good shore snorkeling. Bed and pillows could have been more comfortable. Second visit to hotel. Just as happy second go round.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Amazing resort

Stayed at this resort with my boyfriend and 2 other couples. Had an AMAZING time. Would definitely go back and highly recommend it. Rooms- very clean, very nice, large rooms. Nicest rooms at any resort I have stayed at. Food- tons of options between buffets at all resorts and a la cartes were GREAT! I believe there were 5 buffets and 9 or 10 a la cartes which did not require reservations and wait times were max 1 hour at dinner time but later no waits. Japanese needed reservation only but was my [... read more] favourite restaurant! Pools- 2 massive pools were awesome to be around all day. Lots of entertainment available (yoga, dancing, contests etc.) Small kids waterpark beside the Kentenah/Colonial large pool. Other smaller pools as well. Grounds- the environment is amazing! The walkways to all of the rooms are surrounded by trees and jungle. Paved and covered overhead though which is great. The nature at this resort is awesome; there is an area blocked off strictly for flamingos, there is a large caged off area with crocodiles, and many iguanas and lemars wandering around (I am afraid of creatures, but did not feel uncomfortable at all, it was so cool!) Tours- Segwey tour at the resort was soooo fun! I originally said no to it but my friends convinced me and now I want to buy one haha! Jungle Maya excursion in town was amazing as well. Repelled into a cave into water, zip lined through the jungle and into water, snorkelled through a cave - so much fun.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Great Vacation Spot

Outstanding week in the sun for a family wedding - location for the ceremony was on the ocean in a large gazebo - very beautiful!! Rooms were excellent: large, well maintained and very clean. Great food with lots of options. Two super pools with bars and a good beach with reef for snorkeling; lots of sea life to see. But the best had to be the very attentive staff at Dreams, they provided excellent friendly service throughout our stay.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: EPIC!

Been home for a few days now and cannot wait to go back, bit first we need to loose the weight we gained. We loved pretty much everything, the food was amazing even in the buffet. Our room was perfect and the wife loved the jaccuzi tub, the beds are awesome and struggled every morning to get out, the dual rain head shower was great to speed up getting on with our day. There is a bit of repairs going on but never let it interfere with our stay. The booze selection at the resort is amazing we are [... read more] not hard alcohol drinkers but the quality was great and indulged a little too much. Make sure you go see Luis at martini he is great, and took care of us on most nights. We would go back in a second, we dressed up most nights and did an a la carte then enjoyed drinks then shut down the night club.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Awesome New Resort!

This was our first time to a Royalton resort, and we had a GREAT TIME!!!! It was newly opened a month before our arrival, so we knew to expect a few hiccups, but you get that with anything new, you just gotta be realistic! We were upgraded to the Hideaway section, which was nice. We never got a swim-up room or jacuzzi on the balcony (we had a swamp view) with the ocean to the one side - BUT having this less than desirable room, we were able to get late check out until 6pm, no problem! (Others w [... read more]ith swim-up rooms etc couldn't because their rooms were already booked for 3pm check in!) The food was amazing! EVERYONE gained 5-10lbs! We were all on the bus going to the airport comparing how many pounds each person gained - we were gonna have a contest! (the resort really needs to start selling sweat pants at the shops for people to wear home!!) The best a la carte for me was OPA! We never went to ZEN, Armadillio or Grazie - but went to the Hunter Steahouse, OPA (twice), Agave and Dorado (the Hideaway restaurant). The buffet was huge and had amazing food as well! There was nothing bad there at all to eat! Everything we ate (from the pizza to the eggs) was amazing! The good thing was that if you couldn't make all the a la carte restaurants, you could go to them for lunch! We tried going to Grazie (Italian) for lunch one day but they messed up our order and we never got our food for like 2 hours, so we just went to the buffet.(No big deal because that can easily happen at home too!) The rooms were awesome!!!! The shower had two rain heads and the jacuzzi tub was divine! The bed, comforter and pillows were super comfortable - it was an overall amazing room! They always stocked it with water, many, many towels and beer, pop and chips! The TV had some great channels too. (HBO, AMC etc...) They also had turn down service, where they came in again at night to tidy up your room. It was all very luxurious, the rooms and the service! There are workers working round the clock on the various stuff around the resort - the cracks in the concrete, tiles falling off in the pool, etc....but it's a new resort and there are growing pains. None of this stuff really bothered us - at least they are fixing the issues! They set up white tents for the areas they were working on so it was covered up and no one got dust or anything one them. But the workers must have been super hot!!!Again, it didn't bother us! The beach is OK - but that's because we just came back from Cuba! It's not as teal and clear at all, but we went in a couple days. The beach has nice sand - lots of seaweed - but they work to get that cleared asap. It's a problem across the coast, not the resort's fault about all the seaweed:) There are lots of chairs and ottomans, and they have servers on the beach and really cool beach bars! There are many pools....I like the Hideaway pool best! The bartender at that swim-up bar was making awesome shots for all of us, they are very creative and have fun when making drinks and shots there! There are lots of servers around the various pools ready to take your order. They have bottles of water everywhere - each bar has them whenever you want water! Very handy!! They have towel stations, so you get a new towel everyday at the towel stations and leave your towel at the end of the day in the USED TOWELS containers they have around the pools/beach area. Very nice not to have to worry about your beach towels all week. The resort uses top shelf booze - Grey Goose, Crown Royal, Don Juan tequila etc....and they were not using it sparingly!! We had a lot of tequila! At the AGAVE a la carte restaurant, they have tequila shots for after-dinner drinks! It's very fun there! All the a la carte restaurants are beautifully decorated! We went to the Disco a lot too. Once the Martini Mix bar closed, people would travel upstairs where the disco and sports bar was. The Sports bar was open all night and served food too. Ask for Cesar at the sports bar - he is a great bartender! Ask for Luis at the Martini Mix bar - he always makes fun and exciting drinks! There's also a cute coffee and pastry shop near the resort shops and Nexus tours office. It looks like a regular coffee shop, I thought we had to pay! The cappuccino's and chocolate croissants were awesome! (all the pastries were tasty!) We were going to go on the free Nexus shopping tour - but it involved going to a jewelry factory for 45-minutes to listen to a whole speel, then you can go to the mall across the road. We heard from other tours that they can be pretty ruthless with making you buy something, so we opted out. There was also a $31 shopping tour in Cancun, but it was booked up and we weren't too interested in going to Cancun. SO we got a taxi and went ourselves to Puerto Morelos, a cute little fishing town with shopping and restaurants. We ate lunch at La Panza, a cute place on the beach with amazing food at great prices! There's a cool snorkeling & fishing place there in town that only costs $25 for 50-minutes owned by Mario and his wife Natasha. The taxi prices from the resort are very pricey! They could be cheaper then more people would probably go out more on their own. It was $40 one way - $80 round trip - and the guy waits 3 hours there for you. (There's no way you can walk to the road and take the bus because the resort is built so far back - it takes employees 35 minutes to walk to entrance way!) Another day we went to tour Playa Del Carmen ($100 - round trip and he waits 3 hours). It was too commercialized for us so we went back to Puerto Morelos for lunch again at La Panza on the beach!! Both our taxi guys were great, helpful and courteous.! We had Angel Arreaga the 2nd time. Overall, FANTASTIC time and we'd LOVE to go back one day! (HIGHLY recommend this resort!!)

Grand Palladium Select White Sand: Amazing resort!!!

We stayed at Grand Palladium White Sand 7 times, and not cause for disappointment. The grounds are well kept, the staff are all friendly, the facilities are well maintained. The buffets were awesome as well, variety of choices. Beach is excellent, a lot of shade. We will come again :)

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great trip, great weather, disappointing room

We enjoyed a great trip last week on the Barcelo Colonial resort. We enjoyed the food, the pools, the drinks, the beach was beautiful and the weather was perfect. Our biggest complaint was the room and service to the room during our stay. We were originally given a room with two double beds, even though we had booked a king bed. 2 days after our arrival they switched our room after our strong persistence, but our new room was in a wing surrounded by families and small children (it felt like the [... read more] "family wing" of the hotel). We were woken up all night long by screaming children because the walls are so thin. I had to buy earplugs just to sleep through the night. Our room also had a broken shampoo dispenser that didn't get replaced for 4 days (despite daily complaint), we were missing regular room amenities (ashtray for balcony, robes, etc). When we walked in, there was a blood stain on the pillow on the bed which we promptly removed. Despite enjoying our trip, this resort definitely didn't live up to the 5star rating we signed up for.

Allegro Playacar: Great resort, have stayed twice and will again

Nice clean rooms, wonderful staff.The pools are always clean as are the beautiful grounds. The food is great, lots of selection in the buffet and the Mexican and Italian restaurants provide superb food and service

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Simply Amazing!

The Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort was fantastic. The restaurants have a wonderful selection of foods to satisfy everyone. We had one little guy with us who is a picky eater and we were able to get something for him to enjoy every day, every meal! The resort, small in size, has lounge chairs and shade in abundance, loads of fun activities for adults and children and was constantly being cleaned and raked. Nice variety of evening shows, indoors and out....even an outdoor movie night for children! [... read more] For those who do not like to vacation with little ones there is an adult area with pool, bar, and restaurant. My husband and I decided to relax in this area for one day and found that you couldn't hear anything from the family area, and this was very nice. Rooms were kept clean, with plenty of towels, very good water pressure, and lots of hot water. Nothing seems to be overlooked when it comes to guest comfort, even sunscreen was left in the rooms. I have never seen this in a resort before and was quite impressed with this added touch. I should mention that we were a group of 11 including 3 children. Every one of us had a fantastic time and would return again, most definitely!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Beautiful 5 star resort

One of the best resorts we have been to. Think entertainment could be better and more seating for shows. Stage to far away. Steaks in the Hunter Restaurant were good but room was very noisy and felt rushed. Liked that you didn't need reservations and no limits. Liked the choice of good quality liquor. Beach chairs. Uncomfortable. Need pads.

Reef Club Playacar Beach: Beautiful resort just like your in the jungle

Everything was amazing, the food, the room, the ocean,the employees and the view of everything was beautiful. Close to lots of shopping and very cheap vacation. The tours are fun and lots to do. The only thing they should have better entertaining at night, no shows was a little boring at night but we kept ourselves busy.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Wonderful Time at the Azul Sensatori

Just return from a lovely 10 day vacation at the Azul Sensatori. We would recommend this hotel to anyone...food was fantastic, rooms (including beds) wonderful and staff...WOW....always a smile. The only "negative" was the beach. If you are looking for white sandy beaches for miles and miles...this is not for you. Not for lack of effort as staff were constantly cleaning the beach...it was truly just the location and winds. The pools more than made up this. For those looking for a quiet adult area...the adult pool is amazing and you would never know that there were families enjoying their vacation just across the way. This resort does not use the typical wrist band policy which was lovely. With the exception of one restaurant, there were no reservation required and we never waited for a table at any of the a la carts. Located only 20 minutes from the Cancun airport, this hotel is a welcome surprise from start to finish. There is a time share option at this hotel, which we were approached on. It is their job to do this and I have to say that a pleasant "no thank you" was enough. Even after showing no interest in the time share, the staff were still very concerned that we were having a wonderful time and made sure we wanted for nothing. We have been to some nice resorts but I have to say that the staff at the Azul sets them apart from many we have visited. Congratulation to the resort for putting together such a wonderful team. Now, if you are travelling with Sunwing...they have some positives and negatives. We elected to take the Elite package....Sunwing did a very good job of early boarding and getting your luggage off the plane very quickly (we were the first few bags both going and returning.) Unfortunately our trip home was delayed by about 4 hours (with no apparent explanation) and we were still taken to the airport for the original time of the departing flight. It was quite a wait and we would have been happier lounging at the resort. Other than that, the staff on the flight was wonderful and accommodating. If you choose to spend some time at this resort, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy!!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: The most friendly resort staff I have ever had!!!

First off let me start by saying the staff at this hotel is by far the most friendly I have ever encountered. We arrived at the resort at approx. 2:30 and our room wasn't quite ready yet. We headed to the buffet for lunch and were entertained as 2 members of the wait staff competed against each other in "napkin animal" off. The ala carte restaurants we chose were all very good - the Japanese (Mikado) I enjoyed the most with the Italian coming in second and the Brazilian third. The rooms were all very nice. The resort is very large and does take a couple of days to orient yourself which was somewhat frustrating. The trolley system that they have in place to get you to the beach was somewhat frustrating. If you are an impatient person by nature and enjoy the beach this may not be the resort for you as the transportation system can be a little frustrating at times. I'm not sure if it was the time of year or a regular occurrence but the beach was covered in seaweed for 2 days. The other 5 days it was beautiful and you could see fish and really enjoy the ocean experience. If you are pool people this is a beautiful resort for you as well. Once you are able to get used to the layout of the resort it is a beautiful place. I cannot reiterate enough about how friendly the staff is - and I've been to many resorts. The food is excellent at the buffets and ala cartes. The cleanliness of the lobby and all public areas was excellent as well. Enjoy your vacation and remember........you are on vacation, enjoy it and just relax.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Not what I expected...

The hotel grounds were kept very clean. Our room was what you would expect from a 4 star resort. The safe was available in the room at an extra cost though, so be prepared for that expense. The food was actually good and comparable to a North American style buffet with an assortment of cuisines to choose from. What surprised me was the size of the resort/s and the distance to the beach. The resort is made up of 3 different resorts which means a lot of people all the time! Be forewarned that the  [... read more]evening entertainment and service from the bar ends at 10pm so bring a pack of cards! If I were to re-book with The Grand Principe Clubs I would book at the Akumal. It is a higher rated hotel and it is on the ocean and much quieter to relax at.
