Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton: Great resort - would go back!

This was my 2nd time in Jamaica, and 8th time staying at an all-inclusive resort and I can honestly say it was one of the best resorts I’ve stay at. This review is long but will paint an accurate picture. Check-in – seamless. There was a bit of a long wait on the airport transfer bus before heading to the resort, but once we got to the resort the check-in was very quick and we were greeted with a welcome drink. Room – We got what we requested – a beachside ocean view room with a ki [... read more]ng bed near the other couple we were traveling with. We were in Villa 33, which was right by the adult pool and adult beach. The room was beautiful, clean, had a great view, and we had great housekeeping each day. The only issue was that the bathtub was not usable - it leaked water everywhere and made a horrible loud noise when draining that we're sure must have disturbed our neighbours, so we did not use it again. Pools – The adult pool is open until 10pm so we were able to do some late-night dips after dinner. The main pool is gorgeous, and we never had any trouble finding loungers for all 4 of us. The staff at the swim-up bar were very friendly and made excellent drinks! Around the main pool there are lots of staff around offering to get you drinks so you don’t have to go up to get a drink which is nice. Beach – What was truly unique about this resort is that you have ocean on both sides of the resort. Just walking to the restaurants/pools, the ocean is within view. A lot of other resorts you have to go to the beach to see the ocean, but here you can enjoy ocean views in many places on the resort. There are also several different beaches, including an adult beach. At the far beach you can rent snorkelling equipment, catamarans, kayaks, etc. Highly recommend the snorkeling! We went snorkeling off resort with 2 different excursions and we saw way more fish and coral on our own beach. We saw lobster, squid, sting rays, and tons of different fish! This was a real highlight for us. Restaurants – All 4 of us found the food amazing here. For breakfast there are lots of options available so even though it is the same breakfast each day, you can change it up. The omelette and crepe stations are worth a few visits! We often had breakfast at the Blue Lagoon which overlooks the main pool – great view! For lunch we never went to the buffet – we usually went to the jerk huts which had great jerk pork and chicken – or we went to Poseidon for (they have good fish tacos!). Miss Lou’s Bar is a must – they make delicious desserts and specialty coffees. There was always lots of comfortable seating. For dinner, we went to the a la carte restaurants each night. They were all good, but we especially enjoyed the Xaimaica (Jamaican), Bhogali (Indian), and Sumptuori (teppanyaki). We never had to wait very long and if we did have to wait, there was always a bar to grab drinks while we waited. It was nice not having to make reservations. Entertainment – There is WIFI all over the resort which was very convenient. They have an app that has all the information you need – what day time and night time activities are going on and where, which restaurants are open and their menus, etc. There were lots of activities to join and a show each evening. Most people gathered in the Infinity bar in the evenings. Even though there were lots of people we always found seating. Services – They were always very quick to deal with any issue that arose. One day the lock on our friend’s door wasn’t working and within 10 minutes security was there and fixed it. And on the last day, our safe was not opening and we needed to get our passports out to check out. We called reception and security was there in 5 minutes and got us into the safe. These things can happen anywhere, and the important thing is that they are on top of it and resolve issues quickly. Overall, we had an amazing time at this resort. We had been getting nervous after seeing some of the negative reviews, but our experience was nothing but positive all around and we were all very happy we chose to stay here!

Riu Negril: Terrible

This would be my husbands and ours third time to the review in Negril to be honest with you the hotel has gone downhill the food is the same every night it’s terrible you need music on the beach your entertainment staff suck they play the same music on the beach every day the drinks are under par you can only have two cans of beer in your room per day for two days everybody’s looking for tips I think you need to sit down with your staff and and seriously think of some improvements for your h [... read more]otel because it has definitely definitely gone downhill and we will not be returning

Riu Palace Jamaica: COVID

The hotel had hand sanitizers available throughout the resort. Mask were not required, nor worn by anyone, with exception to a few staff kitchen workers. No social distancing was enforced. The hotel was very clean and staff was always seen cleaning floors, windows of doors, public washrooms, beach chairs and beds. Ocean Eden Bay: We loved our stay and we loved the resort

We've been to over 15 all inclusive resorts before and each one was special in its way. Ocean Eden Bay scored high on entertainment, service and food. I wish I new the animator's name so I can mention it here because he was amazing. Before the trip I had read reviews about slow service: we've seen none of that. In our experience service was always prompt and the staff were very friendly. We loved the quality and choice of food and also the many "a la carte" options we had for evening dining, no  [... read more]reservations needed. The beach is rather narrow but well maintained. You could see the staff working hard to clear the sea weed. There are corals on the bottom of the sea so water shoes are needed. There were lots of palapas and chairs available any time of the day. I have to say, we were in December, not sure if it's always like that... We haven't spent much time by the pool so I won't comment on the pool side, other than that it looked gorgeous.

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Won’t go back!

This was our 4th and final visit to Royal Decameron Cornwall Beach. Had no air conditioning for 8 days. The phone in our room never worked (really missed it as we were a group of 14). The fire alarms went off every night a few times. They ran out of white wine AND red stripe beer, serving Dominican beer as a substitute. Food was good, but presented poorly. Staff was very accommodating, management was very disrespectful and did nothing to address our concerns after MANY complaints!!! Would NOT re [... read more]commend this resort to ANYONE.

Riu Negril: Terrific Resort

We have usually stayed at the Riu Montego and decided to try the Riu Negril for this vacation. We found the staff very friendly and went over and above to ensure all guests were well taken care of and happy. The room was well maintained and, if there were any issues, these were addressed promptly and there was always follow up to ensure that the issue was addressed to the satisfaction of the guests. Re restaurants, what was especially nice was having a staff meet and greet you at the main entrance of each restaurant with hand sanitizer. Unfortunately there is a 2nd entrance where guests would enter the restaurants (Green Island and Seagull) with no one there to provide the hand sanitizer. We would suggest having a staff member meet guests at this 2nd entrance as guests coming from the beach and pool area may not necessarily wash their hands before going to eat. We have observed some guests picking up food with their hands, despite the tongs or serving utensils provided in abundance. Although there were lots of variety in the food dishes, we did find some of the dishes (especially stir fry) very salty. As stir fry dishes contain soy sauce which has sufficient sodium, additional salt is not necessary. For guests who have health issues such as high blood pressure, this is an issue which should be addressed. Please note that we have never had this issue at the Riu Montego or Riu Bachata in Dominican Republic. The resort was beautifully decorated for the upcoming Christmas season. We had a truly wonderful experience there for our anniversary.

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: Nice resort

This is our second time here. We had a wonderful stay with great weather however compared to last year the service and attention to detail has dramatically decreased. The food was delicious but rarely hot at the a la Carter restaurants. Actually is was cool and not pleasant at times. The entertainment was almost non existent. I probably will not be back. Last year they had a wonderful Xmas party which isn’t on this year for some reason.

Royalton Hideaway Negril: Not as expected

This was not what I expected from a royalton hotel. The grounds were kept very nice but the food was under par. No flavour not hot and only one Al a cart was the place to eat. Dorado. It was the best. For steak seafood and all fish and soups. Enjoyed it there three times in a row after trying all the others. One in particular was the amarillo. The hostess waiting to take the info of room number before entering is miserable beyond. Wouldn’t seat us as party of 4 because only 2 were there at t [... read more]hat moment, while the other 2 were on there way. They showed up 2 min later and were told to go back in line knowing they said we were waiting inside. I literally had to go back to the line and wave my family in. Against the policy rules. So she said. Just rude. Nothing was consistent in the hotel as well. Some staff nice. Some just rude. Won’t ever go back.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Amazing resort! Had a Fantastic Time!

Just back from a fantastic week! Our room was great with an amazing view of the pool and ocean. Entertainment team worked hard all day and night! Had to work a bit to get dinner reservations but managed to secure 6 of them. Food was amazing - no complaints! Looking forward to returning in the future! My only complaint would be for the resort to do away with reservations for dinner or at least make the process easier.

Riu Reggae: Fun atmosphere!

This was a great budget friendly resort. The pools were well maintained, beach beautifully manicured and the grounds spotless. The resort itself was very clean—albeit a bit outdated. Staff were fabulous and very helpful. Drinks were made with generous servings of alcohol. The food was hit and miss and lacked variety. A lot of times the food was fairly bland/boring. Would describe this resort as being a four star versus a five as it lacks the amenities, consistency and upgrades of a five star.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Fair for price

Really great food, the beach was rocky and hard to swim in. People/culture was delightful! The resort was an average all-inclusive. Never enough towels in the room. Overall 7/10 - probably wouldn’t go again.

Riu Negril: RIU Negril

This RIU resort is an excellent example of the RIU brand. It is over 20 years old, but looks like it is no more than 3 years old due to constant updates and maintenance. The management and all staff are positive and very polite, always willing to help and answer any questions. The grounds, beaches, pools and all buildings are kept clean and in great repair. Dreams Rose Hall: Average resort

We looked at a lot of reviews before we made our decision to stay at this resort but the very favourable reviews did not reflect reality. Rooms were very average and a bit dated, albeit clean. Walls were paper thin, so we could hear neighbors in other rooms- very noisy. Food was quite good. Most Hotel staff were lovely and worked hard to offer good service. Pictures of resort were incredibly well done and made it appear nicer than it was but overall it was a decent experience.

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Great 10 days at royal decameron Cornwall!

Just returned home Dec 1 2022 from royal decameron Cornwall Beach. Many original employees and met the new ones. Food great and good variety. Rooms maintained and cleaned as they were pre-covid. Several sanitize stations throughout and all food preparer wore masks. No issues with Beach towels. In bed early so cannot comment on night shows. Beach area very clean. Bars fully stocked. Manager and general manager very visible and ready to address any concerns or suggestions. My 8th time at [... read more] this resort and will continue to recommend it. It remains a 4 star hotel in my opinion, but give it 5 stars for this rating. My only negative comment is they now allow the decameron resort next door full access to the beach, bar, and food service. During busy times, this may be a problem for Beach spots and chairs. Coco La Palm: Great resort

The staff is amazing and the beach is fantastic. I will continue to stay at Coco Lapalm. I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants a layer back vacation Also the service I received from both Katie Sauve and Tammy Beamish was top notch

Ocean Coral Spring: Very clean resort

This resort was very nice. We really were made to feel welcome. We had read great reviews about the Sakura restaurant so we were excited to make reservations. Sadly we were very disappointed. When we arrived our drink orders were taken. The chef came and told us about we were having but it was so loud in there you could hardly hear what she was saying. She cooked, gave us the rice and vegetables then cooked the meat after, using the same utensil back and forth with the raw shrimp and raw chi [... read more]cken. We were barely finished eating, and still didn’t have our drinks when the cook told us we needed to be leaving because they had another sitting coming. Not impressed.

Ocean Coral Spring: Definitely not a 4+ resort

Let's start with Check-in it was a horrible experience. We went with a large group and everyone's rooms were all wrong it took us over 1 hour to check in. Food quality was Ok. I was very disappointed that none of the food had any allergens labeled. My daughter has celiac and there was nothing she could eat for breakfast thank goodness I had brought her bread with me at least she could have that with an egg. Sandals Ochi Beach Resort: Not bad, but not amazing.

So to start, I did enjoy this getaway. Would I spend the money to do it again….no. First off, the staff were really pleasant. The entertainment staff were fun and engaging. The restaurants had pretty good food and the bed was decently comfortable. The resort itself is beautiful with its lush gardens and it’s pretty easy to get a place to sit and watch the ocean in the sun for the day. They have beautiful coves and the beach is kept clean and groomed. Things I didn’t like: it’s [... read more] a long transfer from airport to the resort..1.5 hours. The entire resort could use some maintenance. We had a king room Rivera side and although it was decent, I wouldn’t call it luxury. Things like the magnifying mirror in the bathroom was broken, the closet doors were broken and wouldn’t stay shut, the balcony railing was rusted and moved dangerously when leaned on so we stayed away from it. The air conditioner worked and made the room lovely and cool but dripped constantly on the carpet below, causing the room to smell musty. There are lots of stairs on the resort to go anywhere, it didn’t bother us at all but could bother some. Beach Towels were hard to find in the mornings, we went searching often for them. Everywhere you go, someone is trying to upsell you. Whether it’s to get you to book the spa or buy pictures or book a table at an event which costs more, it got tiresome being approached constantly to ask you to spend more money. Breakfast Buffett was good and booked dinner restaurants were good.. but there are no snack options. You can’t just quickly grab anything. The pool has a pizza place that takes an hour to get a tiny pizza. I ordered 2 tacos one afternoon and waited 45 mins for them. There is no haste for anything and seems disorganized. We started to joke while finishing breakfast if we should order lunch right away so we could actually eat when we were hungry later. The bar frequently ran out of cups to serve people. The coffee urn was empty a few mornings which didn’t destroy my day or anything, just a little frustrating when sandals sells “luxury”. The speakeasy is a super cool vibe with fun drinks. We went to watch the entertainment … which didn’t show up. We enjoyed the piano sing along one day so checked the schedule and went a second time and guess what?…. They didn’t show up. So overall, the break from work was still nice and we enjoyed the beach but I wouldn’t do it again. It even kind of put me off the sandals brand as other people we spoke to told us they have been to nicer, much cheaper resorts.

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: Great Resort

Staff were very friendly, grounds and beach kept very clean. Steakhouse restaurant and Italian were very good. Seafood restaurant was disappointing. Though we paid for all inclusive, you couldn’t get wine by the glass and only by the bottle if you paid for it.
