Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Beautiful Resort

I found Paradisus to be a beautiful resort—very clean, well kept, aesthetically pleasing, friendly staff. Great amenities above and beyond restaurants (ice cream shop, Nespresso cafe, etc). My only complain is the food – most restaurants were good except for BlueAgave (a taco restaurant)—the food was absolutely terrible, and in some instances, completely inedible—it took over an hour for my party of 7 to be served and there were only 2 or 3 other tables at the time. Sol (steakhouse) was not included and was extra, which I found strange at an all-inclusive resort and the first time I've encountered that in 15+ years of travelling. Buffet food was good for breakfast, but lunch and dinner were almost inedible and not appealing. Undercooked burgers one day (yuck), stale items and/or seafood that had clearly been sitting under heat lamps for hours, etc. I was expecting better quality of food for the price of the resort. I'm a beach person, but there was so much seaweed, I couldn't get past it to get in the water more than a few steps. Probably why the pools (both family and adult only side) were so busy all the time and almost impossible to find chairs at. To actually secure a spot so I didn't have to compete with people playing the towel game at 6am every day, I ended up paying for a cabana for 2 days (annoying). But I spent a fair amount of time at the adult pool and there was always fun activities, swim up bar had great service, and the pool was large and clean. Rooms were big, relatively modern, and kept very clean. Bathrooms were beautiful, large and modern with a separate water closet (nice touch), a large shower with rain head, and huge jacuzzi tub. The only negative was the noise. The buildings are all tiled on the interior and therefore every noise echos throughout the 4 stories of rooms. We were near the elevator lobby and it was SO LOUD. There was a wedding while I was there one night and some guests must have been drunk because there seemed to be a loud fight and screaming/yelling from 10pm until well after 2am... ON THE FAMILY SIDE... WHERE PEOPLE HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN. I was shocked at the ignorance and complete lack of common courtesy by some guests to not yell and shout in the hallways. Lots of door slamming too at all hours of the day and night. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep. Overall, it was a great experience. Food could be better and more attention to noise reduction would be good.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Amazing, top shelf resort

We had a fantastic time at Joia Paraiso. Our check in was wonderful, we were greeted with refreshments and treats while we sat down and waited to be checked in. The resort was fantastic, all indoors and air conditioned. Our room was a standard room but was perfect. Cleaning staff and all staff were fantastic, concierge, Spa, beach, and restaurant staff were always pleasant and very helpful. Liquor was also great with many top brands and variety for any drink you want. Pools were great with one being a quiet relaxing pool and the other pool with a swim up bar and lots of activities and music all day. Beach was great although the water entrance in front of the Joia was rocky but if you just walked 100 meters down to one of the other Iberostar resorts you could enter the water without any problems. Definitely will return and would recommend JOIA to others. Worth the extra money it cost to stay there.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Impossible to find a beach chair and depressing dolphin enclosure

Quite disappointing stay. If you wake up, have breakfast, and go to the beach for 8:30 am GOOD LUCK finding a chair until like 3 pm. We walked around across the entire beach and couldn’t even find one free chair. People wake up early and claim chairs with their items or beach towels. Some people don’t even show up until 11 am!! Employees weren’t very helpful and said that you can’t take a claimed chair, even if no one shows up for hours (even though there’s signs saying you can’t claim a chair). [... read more] Same situation at the pool. Had to sit on the floor with our towels. Apart from that, you walk by a sad dolphin enclosure where the dolphins swim in a small pool with no shade. Very depressing to see and it’s sad that this type of animal treatment is still present. If you search up the dolphins at this hotel, you’ll find out that a few had died here. Generally, resort was clean and well kept, but old. Our bathtub didn’t drain well when you took a shower. The beach itself is pretty nice and well kept. Food was average to good and generally a decent selection. We did get upset stomachs one day, unclear from what exactly. If you love sad dolphins and a going to war to find a place to sit during the day, this resort is a great choice for you.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Gracia Mexico

The resort was clean, the food was really good. Beach, not so great. Lots of seaweed and very rocky. If you like and want to swim in the ocean, bring water shoes. The hotel wasn't super busy, it was kind of quiet which was good for us. Spa services were a nice addition. The ride to and from the airport was approx 50 minutes, depending on traffic and time of day.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Amazing Resort

We booked a pool view with Trip Central unfortunately we did not get what you promised the first night. That set the stage for a very negative start, however once we had that resolved it was a very nice stay.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Amazing Resort, best so far!!!

Everything about the resort was amazing. The a la cartes were all amazing. The room was very clean and large and very well equipped with shampoo and creme rinse and body wash and toothbrushes and bath robes and a safe. Well worth the Reserve upgrade as our assistant Cynthia more than fulfilled our every request such as arranging our dinners and champagne on our anniversary with roses and cake at the restaurant and in our room. Maria at the reserve pool was also amazing as she provided us a Bal [... read more]i bed in the shade (I was ill recently so I have a avoid alot of direct sunlight) she would put towels on it every morning with a smile. The cenote was fantastic and a definite must see. We walked the 30 minutes to shopping and negotiated the pricing of everything. The only thing I would change is the 3.5 hour bus ride on the way back to the airport after having to wait at each hotel for others and then waiting another 3 hours to board the plane and the airport is super expensive. And the seaweed was really bad, they tried to clean it every day but you couldn't swim in it.

Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort and Spa: Acceptable if you get a good price

Overall I was happy with my trip. I would give it 4/5. We had to change rooms as our first room had plumbing problems. The highlight was the food. It was often very tasty. House keeping lacked consistency. I found a deal for CAD 2900 for 7 days and 2 people. Had I paid more I might of been unsatisfied with the value of the property.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Excellent Resort

The resort was beautiful with plants and flowers along all the walking paths. Amazing dining experience in all of the a la carte that we visited and great buffet too! Pools and beach great. We enjoyed them all. We would definitely return to this resort.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Decent overall.

Pros: - small size, good for kids -comfortable beds (renovated room in building 9) -no one got sick - one of the pools gradually gets deeper (like on a beach) which is great for kiddos Cons: - cleanliness lacking (ants in rooms and lots of mosquitoes in room) - food (it didn’t make us sick but it wasn’t enjoyable) - pools were dirty (as opposed to the oceans in punta cana which were cleaned every day - slushy drinks were disgusting

Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort and Spa: Do Not Mistake This Property for a Beachfront Hotel

Full disclosure: Do yourself a favour and do not read the negative posts on this property! Some people look for faults instead of enjoying the blessings that they are surrounded by. We are a middle age couple that enjoys everything about Mexico. The climate, the service and the food. This resort had all of it including a well maintained property and large, clean rooms. The property is smaller that others we have visited and all amentities are within a short walk. The resort has a number of pools and chairs for everyone. The grounds are very well kept and the staff are present, always keeping things in tip top shape. The Roots coffee shop is a favourite for coffee, ice cream and pastries. The food is great! There are unlimited ala carte restaurants with options such as Mexican, French, Italian and Japanese as well as a breakfast, dinner and supper buffet. Our room (5111), was always kept clean and towels and toiletries were replenished daily. As well as the in room bar fridge that included beer, sodas and water. There is also a Nespresso coffee machine with pods. We would return to this resort in a heartbeat! The quality and service was amongst the best we’ve had I can’t stress this enough! If you are a beach person, this resort is not for you. You have been warned! Don’t get there and complain the whole week. No one wants to listen to you! A special shout out to our favourite waiter Caesar. This young man is amazing and goes above and beyond to make you experience a special one.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great family resort!

This past week was our second time at the Barcelo Maya Colonial. We went last year and had the best stay so decided to do it again this year and again, we were not disappointed! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The grounds were immaculate and there was always staff working hard cleaning up the leaves and cutting the grass to keep it that way. Both times they gave us a room that was very close to the splash pad which made it very convenient for us. We felt very safe the entire time during our stay. The Grand food selection at the buffet was always satisfying, you'd always find something you like. And the a la carte restaurants are incredible. I believe you are allowed 3 reservations per 1 week stay but if you speak to the restaurant directly, and they have space, they will allow you to come another time so we were able to eat at 4 restaurants 4 different nights which was very nice. My favourite was the Spanish restaurant. The almond chicken was cooked to perfection and my father in law said the lamb chops he had were the best he's ever eaten in his life. We also did the xcaret excursion and had the best time! The resort is perfectly situated that you are pretty much the last pick up and first drop off. So we were able to catch the buffet quickly at breakfast just before getting on the bus. The rooms were the only thing that can possibly use a bit of an update, but they were very clean and worked just fine for us. Maybe bring an air freshener to help the slight musty smell that is inevitable from the salty sea air. That's what we did and it was fine. If you are looking for a resort that you don't have to leave to be entertained, this is the one. Pool entertainment, night time theatre entertainment, nightclub, dolphin show each morning, ping pong, floor chess, basketball and tennis courts, big gym, lots of shopping! We will definitely visit again! It has everything we wanted!

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great resort for families!

Loved our time there with our 10 months old, despite some minor disappointments. Would still go back for the value. Was nice to be able to walk around with the stroller for nap time. Nice staff in general. Buffet had very good food consistently. Royal Hideaway Playacar: Quaint and quiet with all the charm

Totally enjoyed this resort. Especially loved the a la carte restaurants for supper. The Infinity pool close to the ocean was wonderful, could sit at the pool and still have the beautiful view of the ocean

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Amazing resort! We will be back!

We can't say enough amazing things about Paradisus La Perla! Every touch of the resort is done right, but the best thing really is the people. The staff at this resort go above and beyond! Incredible!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Pleasant Resort

Overall quite satisfied with the stay. The resort is big but there are trolleys that follow a bus route to help you get around. The entertainment is frequent and nice. The only complaint is that walk/ride to the beach goes through an area that often smells bad (maybe the waste treatment place for the hotel?). Our room also had weird vibes and I had nightmares every night but otherwise the resort was good

El Dorado Casitas Royale: Some good but some bad

The hotel does not consider requests! My wife walks with a cane so we requested months before for a ground floor room. So check in and we are in an upstairs room with 27 stairs, They moved us next day but meant living out of a suitcase and not unpacking for the first day? Rooms were great, each group of 14 rooms has a private pool with swim up bar? Refilling the room mini fridge was a hit & miss process ?‍♂️ The trollys( (golf carts) were great when you could find one that wasn’t full. These [... read more] are necessary because this a very large resort when you consider you can travel to two other hotels (Royale & Generations) and use their facilities/restaurants Most staff were awesome but did find a few not so nice. We found that by tipping even a small amount ( 20 pesos= $1.7 cdn) for the bartender did wonders at our swim up pool?? If possible book your own transportation, the hotel provides but is shared and could be a long wait or a long ride,? Just one final word of warning!!! This resort is NOT disability friendly, a lot of small steps & ledges, a very large resort to try to walk anywhere, and some restaurants/bars are only accessible by stairs. The food was amazing, but in some you receive large portions and others smaller portions per course to difficulty in knowing what or how much to order!

Catalonia Yucatan: First stay there, but not our last!

The grounds are well kept and very pretty. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. Our room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom is large and has a clothes line in the bathtub to dry your swim suit on. No hair dryer but we didn't miss it. Pools are well maintained and are the perfect temperature to cool you off. The beach is a little rocky but there is a clear path on one side that takes you to crystal clear waters with a sandy bottom. Many people were snorkeling and enjoying the sea [... read more] life. Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Adult only resort

Overall, we would rate this hotel as a 7/10. The food at the buffet was very good as was the service. Our concierge was attentive and responsive to the needs we expressed. The room was excellent. The beach was not nice. They did not pick up the seaweed and it smelled pretty bad. The water was warm but the beach was so so. Good at the restaurants was between 5/10 to 8/10 with the Sal steakhouse being the best.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great stay, especially for food allergies

Hotel was great, but particularly the food allergy situation. The staff went above and beyond ensuring there was something to eat at every meal, no matter where we ate. As a partner to someone with many complex allergies, this made our vacation seamless.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Beautiful resort

Everything was ok just maybe more Spanish music .People very hard working.Room service is good too.Our house keeper was Amalia ,she is very nice and she kept our room clean all the time.We will come again
