Melia Las Antillas: A good time was had by us!

We enjoyed our trip and would rate the hotel as 3.5 to 4 star. The hotel is aging but is clean and comfortable. There was always a good variety in food. The staff was very friendly and made special efforts to make you feel at home. The entertainment was 4+ star. A great week overall.

Club Karey: Club Karey

for what I paid it was fine right on the beach would I go back yes, Its not for everyone but if your a down to earth person and are not looking for a fancy room then you can't beat this place as for the food well its cuba

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: 10 days of Bliss

We stayed from Jan 12 to Jan 22/2015 and had a great time. Marco brought us drinks when we arrived for check-in and over the next few days he served us in the lobby. He was very friendly. Our room was great and more than we expected. Our room maid, Tatiana, kept the room cleaned as well us talking and laughing with us. The mini bar was stocked every day. I found the whole resort well kept, neat and safe. In the buffet, lobby area and washrooms there always seemed to be staff who were keeping the floor clean and dry. Thanks ladies. We sat in the same area of the buffet every day and our servers were fantastic. We got to know Madyori, Leidis, Yamilka, Anthony and Chabley. I like a morning coffee and they kept my cup full. They were friendly and ready to serve. The buffet was fair. I don't eat any type of meat and some days the selection was limited. For example one day the beans would have meat in it and the next day just beans. However it would always be labeled beans. I would suggest better labels on the buffet choices and say 'Beans and Meat' if that's what in the tray. Sometimes the trays of food were hot and other times cold. The fruit bar was great and the juice excellent. The pasta cookers saved the day for me as I could get a delicious plate of food from them with a guarantee of no meat in it and it was hot. We went to all 3 restaurants. The staff were great but for a vegetarian the menu is limited. My wife did like the meat dishes. The beach is beautiful. Plenty of beach chairs. The beach was clean and the water clear. The pool area was very nice with lots of chairs. The staff in these areas were great. They entertained us, got us involved in activities and were very friendly. I rate the staff and accommodations as five star. The food was below expectations. This was our six trip to Cuba and we have had more choices and warmer food in most of the other resorts.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Not bad need some inprovements

Food:buffet by the beach same food everyday the weeak ,buffet by the lobby not to bad. Rooms:need some updating Wcs:toilets by the pool don't work, no paper towel,no toilete paper,the same by the theatre. Bars in the looby:no service at all on tables,not enought seats on the looby.

Hotel Internacional: Cheated On

I did not like this hotel. There was really no service at all at this hotel. Rooms were never cleaned, sheets never changed, and towels never replaced with clean ones. Kitchen staff and waiters that would hit on you while you waited for your food. The prepared food was also tasteless and extremely repetitive. There was one occasion where my food had quite a long hair in it! The staff didn't seem to care that the food wasn't being cooked properly as my meat would be cold raw in places. The barte [... read more]nders were always trying to make a deal with us in hopes they could rip us off on rum bottles. Despite indicating they had a 24 hour bar, they refused to serve us alcohol after 4am. The bar itself was poorly stocked as we only had mojitos for a limited time (i.e., until their bag of mint leaves ran out). The lightening at this hotel was atrocious. Every room was incredibly dim; you had to eat essentially in the dark, our rooms were dim even with the few lamps on and the hallways were dark. There were no activities planned during the day. While there was a volleyball net set up, it was old and the net was in need of a replacement, badly. While there were suppose to be quite a few non motorized water vehicles available, they were non existent. The late night activities were poorly put together. While I sympathize with the entertainers being there to do a job, the few props they had to use were something from an elementary school play. The overall attitude from the staff was that they couldn't care less about their guests or their comfort. It got to a point that the food became unbearable so a few of the guests frequented another hotel for their food for dinner. During the day, if we were invited to another hotel, we took advantage and ate there. Every hotel to the left and right of hotel International was far better - filled with life and staff that seemed far more content with interacting with guests. It was only after a few days into my one week trip that I was informed that the hotel was actually going to be destroyed and another hotel was to be constructed in its place. For the amount of money I paid for this one week trip, I deserved to know that fact ahead of time because it seemed to be a direct cause for why the staff didn't seem to care about cleanliness of the hotel or treating their guests as if they were special.

Roc Arenas Doradas: relaxing holiday

When we went to the hotel, our room was not ready. But after talking to the customer service person, Berta, we were given a one-bedroom suite with three beds(one in the living room). The unit was spacious, clean and came with A/C, a mini fridge and a safety deposit box-all in good working condition. Since this was our second visit to this hotel, we wanted to find out whether the service provided at the hotel has improved over last year. In the case of the main restaurant, the quality and diversity of the food is much better than last year. Many of the servers were also pretty good, especially Islay, our waiter. I would give the main restaurant a solid B+. As for the a la carte restaurants, the Italian was our favourite. The food was so good that we went there twice. It deserves an A. The international and the seafood restaurants were also good and we would give them a solid B. Only the Cuban restaurant cannot be evaluated because we did not visit it. The beach is sandy, clean, and the waters were calm. Whenever we went there in the morning, the chap working there got us seats wherever we wanted. Unlike last year when there was a large influx of noisy Italian tourists, this time around it was much more peaceful and quiet. We split our time between the beach and the pool. The pool was clean but a little congested and therefore harder to find a seat. One redeeming feature is that the noise level at the pool was much lower and more tolerable than last year. We understand that a new general manager has taken over since our last visit and that he is largely responsible for the improvements. This may be true because we saw him at the main restaurant during mealtime. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and we hope to visit the same hotel in 2016.

Hotel Bella Costa: overall satisfying top notch beach

Highlights- beach, friendly staff, baby/family friendly, clean, interactive nightly entertainment including opening acts geared for children, variety of foods, close to downtown Varadero, great snorkeling out from resort beach, fabulous cappucinos/expressos in the lobby bar ;) Lowlights- sketchy electrical-2 lights would flicker when turned off had to unplug lights which the resort did, elevators were slow and not all (3) working at the same time-travelled with a baby stroller.

Grand Memories Varadero: Amazing time

We had a great trip everything was perfect hotel was amazing and all the people were super nice the beach was just awsome service was really good I enjoyed all the food I have nothing. Bad to say about it it was so good I would go back tomorrow if I could

Memories Jibacoa: Lovely resort

This was our third time at this resort. We find the staff to be very friendly and helpful and the grounds and rooms are exceptionally well kept . We especially like the fact that it is a fairly small, adult only resort.

Hotel Bella Costa: Really good food- overall a great experience

The room was just fine- water pressure was good- very clean. We stayed in room 504 with a balcony and Oceanview. The only trying things about the hotel were the elevator waits and lineups for the featured dishes being cooked fresh at the buffet. Staff were good if tipped and the grounds were very clean and the beach is first class. If you are looking for something close to downtown, I would recommend a different resort. Cabs are 10-15 cuc and can get pricey as the walk to bus stop is at least 15 [... read more] mins. I would recommend this resort. It is very compact and right on the beach :)

Memories Jibacoa: Disappointed this trip

Grounds, room location great. Most staff fantastic and remember you from previous visits. Sun Wing rep. (Marija?) at hotel was fantastic. Best we have ever had. Buffet was not great. Food over cooked and often cold. Trays constantly empty and often ran out of dishes. Although dinner was 6:30 to 9:30 they did not seem to clear and reset tables much after 8. When we went for dinner first night a little after 9 there was nothing much left........front desk did not advise us of deli and we went to  [... read more]bed hungry. Previous visits buffet had been fantastic. Staff blaming on ownership changeover however we paid full price and did not expect this downturn in food quality

Resonance Blu Varadero: AmazinResort!

The resort was very beauiful! The gardens are pretty! The pools nice and clean! The people and staff were very friendly! The food was wonderful! The day trips to Havana was amazing! The drinks were awesome!

Starfish Varadero: Cuba on a budget , not the Hilton !

Third time there stayed in bungalows. Same food , no hot water , beach is still the best feature. This hotel would be great if they would update and do some routine maintenance . Next time will pay a little more for newer hotel as this one was built in 1977.One toaster in the whole resort @ the buffet doesn't work . Tried to rent mopeds 5 days in row but never open so had to take dd bus or cabs.

Memories Jibacoa: Nice Resort

This place has a great lay-out for a resort , nice pool and the beach has great snorkeling . The staff are very friendly ,but , like usual the food was poor , it was tuff to find something that worked for me.

Club Kawama: Good low cost option

My second time at Club Kawama and you get what you pay for. I upgraded to a superior room this time and it was well worth it. Room 2602 with a small terrace facing the ocean. The food is not great but I could always find something to eat. The beach is wonderful and the pools are clean. The staff are friendly and really try to make your stay great. The security guards presented me with small flowers, etc made of Palm fronds. A nice touch. I took an excursion to Havana for the day and enjoyed it i [... read more]mmensely. An easy walk into Varadero is one of the perks of this resort. Remember your vacation is what you make of it. If you find fault in everything, don't go to Club Kawama. If you enjoy warm weather, beautiful beaches and pools, nice people, enjoy your stay at Kawama at a decent price.

Hotel Tuxpan: Tuxpan

This was a nice small resort easy to get around everything within a 5 minute walk.our room was small but very clean I found the whole resort to be very clean as for the food in the buffet it did not have a big selection and did not change much. But they had hamburgers at the beach bar daily and hotdogs ham and cheese sandwiches at the pool bar so you could always find something, all the staff were very friendly and helpful . All in all we had a nice vacation at this resort

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Good Resort

The service when we first got there was not very good, but it was way better the following day and rest of the week. Beaches are amazing. Food is not good but no one can go to Cuba expecting any good food. You need to really go for a walk around the resort when you get there because there is a lot there it's just a matter of finding it.

Hotel Internacional: not bad

Example: What did you think about  Hotel is too old. It needs renovation or demolish and rebuild. Location is fantastic, close to the Beach and Varadero city. Food could be improved eg choices of free salt foods for older people that do not eat food with salt.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Falls short in all categories

After reading mixed reviews of this resort;I thought I would see for myself.My wife and I stayed from Jan9/15 -Jan16/15.Everyrhing was smooth until we checked in to the resort.The first room was dreary and smellled like fish. It was obviously in need of a makeover.After much complaining we settled on the second room and had to join two single beds together and tried to make the best out of a bad situation.It seemed that every request of the staff there seemed to be too much;having to fight for e [... read more]ven a roll of toilet paper for the room.The food was better than average for Cuba;but still not much variety.We have travelled before to Cuba so know what to expect from all different rated resorts.I have to say that this resort was the worst I have experienced in Cuba(regardless of the star rating) Staff appeared disinterested in serving even after tipping and seemed to prefer to sociallize amongst themselves and the guests were treated as an inconvenience.I have stayed in better 3 star hotels in Cuba.Very disappointing to pay for a 4 star and get a 2 star at best.The rooms were clean and the beach was beautiful...that is the positive of the holiday.

Starfish Jibacoa: Great cheap getaway

The overall review of trip was good. It had everything I needed at the time. It was cheap, clean and people were fantastic and so nice. Bungalows and grounds were great. Beach was not really my style as I don't snorkel but water was warm. Food was edible but would have liked to see more selection and more tomatoes. Lol. Overall, great times!
