Muthu Playa Varadero: Wonderful Customer service

The layout of the resort was beautiful. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The food was great, provided you got there early while selection was still ample. The coffee from the machine wasn't great, but when is coffee from a dispenser ever good? The cappuccinos from the bar were excellent though. I loved how close the beach was to my room. Over all a very good experience. I'll definitely go back.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: good value for the money

overall, nice resort. everything was always clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. a few details could have been better such as the food at the buffet restaurant. there were also quite a few bugs (didn't bother me too much but i saw some folks with some pretty big welts), not sure if they could spray for these or not but it was a bit bothersome. at times, the organization was a bit lacking, for example, booking our meals at their a la carte restaurants required a 15 minute line-up an [... read more]d the process seemed much more complicated than it really needed to be. the location (at the end of the peninsula) can be a bit of a pain if you head out on excursions since you end up stopping at many more resorts to pick other folks up (takes quite a bit of time). if you like a quiet place with almost zero traffic though, this can be a plus. it's about 45 minutes to town on the bus.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Great time!

First trip to Cuba and would definitly go back! We had a great time! Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was ok - lots of variety and we all found something to eat! Snack bar by pool was good! Rooms were comfortable. Daily activities, Nightly shows and entertainment staff were excellent!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Our 3rd Time in One Year!

We stayed here for the first time last January and loved it! We came back again in October, and again this January. The service improves each time we stay, and the staff and beautiful surroundings are what keep us coming back. We hope to go back again once more this year. Nearby snack bar with burgers, hot dogs, fries and drinks. There are several pools on the property, all well maintained with bar service. The main pool offers a waterfall, nets for water polo, and games and entertainment through out the day. Next to that is the pool bar which offers amazing service and tasty drinks. Service 5* From the moment you arrive, the service is incredible and the staff are so friendly. Thank you so much to Anja, the girls at the front desk, and to our favorite bar tenders: Yariel, Fidel, Darren, Kensi, and Felix. I must also commend the entertainment staff for everything they do. Food 4* All of the a la carte restaurants are pretty good, but my absolute favorite is the Japanese Cooking Show. Reservations can be made in advance by contacting the hotel before your trip. The buffet food is good, but can use some improvement in variety. Food is not usually labelled, so you are often left guessing as to what it is. Not good if you have allergies, and a waste if you don't like the taste. The snack bar / Ranchon restaurant is a great place to grab a bite when you are still in your bathing suit. They usually offer burgers, hot dogs, fries and drinks. There may be more options at other times of the day (breakfast /lunch). There is also an ice cream parlor for a nice refreshing treat. It's also worth trying some of the restaurants in town. Many good options available. Rooms 4* The rooms are nicely decorated, and so far we've always had a nice view. Especially this last time. We contacted the hotel prior to our trip to ask for a nice room, and they really delivered! The view was incredible. The beds are okay, a little stiff with soft pillows, but I always sleep like a baby:) Water pressure is low and TV's need upgrading. Air conditioning works well. Beach towels on arrival, bathrobes in closet. Mini bar stocked with Beer (Cristal & Bucanero), Orange, Lime and Cola, as well as water. There is no clock in the room, so bring one with you. 220v European outlets. Location 3* The beach is quite large and well maintained in front of this property. People at surrounding resorts are not so lucky. And the property itself is absolutely beautiful and well laid out. It is quite large with many things to do and still easy to get around. The only downfall is how far it is from town. I would say at least 20km. The hop on hop off bus stops at every resort, so the ride can take about 45 minutes to an hour. And a taxi costs 15 CUC each way. Value 4* Although costly to go on any vacation, this resort offers a beautiful property and views, nice accommodations, a fantastic staff, and many extras for a reasonable price. Definitely worth trying. Although some improvements need to be made, these people work very hard to give us the very best, and it shows. I will be back again and again!:)

Hotel Bella Costa: Beautiful Beach

This hotel is situated on a lovely, white sand beach. The resort itself is a smaller resort, with fewer choices of activities to do in the evenings. The hotel itself is older, and rooms are a bit dated.

Club Tropical: Beware!

We had a very bad experience with the hotel Club Tropical. We have stayed at the Club Tropical on previous occasions with no problems however this trip we were placed in a building which might of been their overflow. The stairway to the room had dirt mopped to the sides but not picked up, the door to our room would only partially open so we had to squeeze our luggage into the room, the windows in the room were so dirty you could not clearly see out, the window ledges had a accumulation of dirt,  [... read more]the toilet was not fastened to the floor and the tank was wobbling, the floor was very dirty with debris and dirt, the air conditioning only had high fan speed and blew directly onto the bed, there was debris buildup from bugs eating the wall in the bathroom, the room was over the driveway and when buses pulled in the air conditioner sucked all the fumes into the room to the point we had to open the hall door for fresh air, there was a padded stool in the room which was blood stained, there was mold on the walls and vanity mirror, the staff did not serve customers in a timely fashion as they were either talking amongst themselves or watching a baseball game, the dining room was smoky and stuffy as there was not ventilation and they were cooking on grills inside. We asked immediately to be moved to another room and the hotel said they were full and would consider moving us the next day. The next day came and they said they still could not move us even though there was several people leaving and some coming. At that time we told them the we would be checking out and finding another hotel. We only stayed one night of our seven day holiday.

Starfish Jibacoa: great trip and resort

this resort was to my taste. I loved it, room service was fantastic. staff was wonderful and friendly, neat clean, peace full, loved the fruits and salads. I will certainly go back again to same resort.

Roc Barlovento: Good resort

Resort was old but clean, pools were very nice, beach was beautiful.. Rooms are older but clean had hot water all the time.. Staff was very friendly.. Food was not bad for Cuba.. Had a great time and for the price was great!

Resonance Blu Varadero: nice resort

Very good resort ... food is good the only thing there's no sufficient clean towel for the beach .....i will come back to the same hotel (memories) next year ....I hope that .......activities inside the hotel are amazing

Starfish Varadero: A great Holiday

The 2 Week Trip was fantastic. The Bungalow we stayed in exceeded our expectations. The service was great. A suggestion would be a little more information on the amenities ie A La Cartes, Towel exchange etc. The staff was friendly at this resort. The food service could improve some we had to wait sometimes for cutlery and other essentials. Muthu Playa Varadero: Average Resort

This resort was clean needs some TLC! They where painting a bridge over the pool without anything underneath and all the extra paint got into the pool therefore getting paint on the swimmers, so we didn't swim for the rest of the trip. Ran out of ice at the pool bar everyday by noon, ran out of beer first night there. Some staff was very friendly and some not so. I left gifts everyday for the maids but never once received a thank-you.

Villa Sotavento: Awful Accomodations!!!

This is the worst vacation I've had in Cuba. The flight was delayed by four hours. Instead of arriving around 7 pm, we arrived at the hotel past midnight. There was no food, just limited midnight staff. The front-desk clerk was pleasant and helped me promptly and gave me room 5 in house number 428 Camino del Mar. The house is freshly painted. Room 5 is up two flights of stairs. The meals are taken at the main Hotel Acuazul about a 5 minute walk from the house. The door was jammed tight on the door frame so I had to bump it hard to open it. 2. There was no night-table lamp and a light was out in the room. 3. The safe had no lock. Useless! 4. There was no telephone in the room 5. The television cable was disconnected, and even after I connected it myself (because after reporting it broken no one came to fix it), the reception was poor, the image had a lot of interference, ie; snow, and poor audio. 6. The toilet had no toilet seat and didn't flush. I had to flush by using a small garbage can as a bucket and dumping buckets full of water in the toilet bowl. 7. There was no shower curtain. After showering the bathroom floor was all wet. 8. For towels, I had four hand towels that were not replaced for the whole stay. 9. In the dinning room the tablecloths were filthy. 10. Out of four times I attempted to exchange money I was successful once. 11. Rum based drinks were served with inferior brands rums. THE GOOD 1. The air conditioner worked well. 2. The room was freshly painted. 3. The pillow cases and sheets were fairly new and clean. 4.The mattress was comfortable. 5. The tap water was drinkable 6. The staff was friendly. 7. The food was ok. Different kinds of meats, fish, beef, chicken. Limited choice of salads, cheeses, fruits, fruit juices. Coffee at the dining room was from a vending machine. 8. There was nightly entertainment. A pool table and a ping-pong table. 9. There weren't many mosquitoes. 10. Lots of police presence day and night, It is very safe!

Memories Jibacoa: excellent resort

this is our fourth time at breezes, and are planning to go again in the next 12 months. the servise is good the people are friendly the hotel rooms are clean,the food is good with a great deal of variety. I would recommend this property ,as we have been in cuba 16 times at different locations and is by far the best.

Brisas Del Caribe: lovely beaches

basic rooms but very clean, nice beaches, great coffee, fantastic baked goods at the buffet (both breads and desserts). the staff were absolutely lovely especially with the children (it was a family vacation - 9 adults, 7 little ones). i wish it was closer to havana, but overall, it was a good experience.

Memories Jibacoa: Wonderful vacation

No disappointments at this resort. We enjoyed the attention of a smaller resort. Food exceeded our expectations. The grounds very well kept, the rooms always clean, the staff very friendly. We will definitely go back to this resort.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Comfortable Resort

Having stayed previously , we knew what to expect, good food, excellent service. They started to implement their diamond club during our stay which will separate the resort into two classes......still in most instances, it will not effect your stay if you do not take DC.

Starfish Jibacoa: Beautiful Spot

Rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. Food was standard 3 star fare but always something good. Beach was nice especially for snorkeling, not very long for walking. Stunning views of the mountain behind. Excellent excellent staff all around, tip or no tip. Didn't matter.

Memories Jibacoa: Quiet Relaxing Resort

My boyfriend and I stayed from Jan 9-16 2015. We had a great time! The resort is small and fairly quiet. The food was good(by Cuban standards). The staff are all wonderful. Very clean hotel. Would return for sure!

Hotel Bella Costa: Great value for your money

Bella Costa is a very nice resort. Overall the grounds are very well kept, clean, no bugs, well manicured. The hotel itself is also very clean, the main building is 20 years old but well maintained. The garden suite rooms are nice, more spacious and also very clean. Beds are adequate, but bring your own pillow if possible. Rooms are clean, no bugs. Dining is above average as far as Cuba goes. All you can eat lobster night was our highlight of the week. There is only one pool, but the beach is awesome and only a one minute walk away. Beach is awesome !! And the hotel is right on the Varadero golf course, if you golf include this as part of your package, it is well worth it to bring your clubs. Also the town of Varadero is not far away if you want to explore. Overall, I highly recommend this resort because the price versus the quality is amazing.

Playa Caleta: Good resort

over all the hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and always wanting to help. The a la carte is definately the way to go although a few nights the food was not too bad in the buffet. The beach was a little rough on the feet with little shells everywhere but still walkable.
