Sirenis Tropical Varadero: great location
Beach, pools, interior and exterior garden, great, friendly staff ( tips needed), old but clean rooms, good cocktails, bland and not so fresh food, nice deserts. If you go for luxury, not for you, but nice for enjoying nature.
Starfish Varadero: Everything was closed!
The hotel itself was outdated. Room was nothing special but made it work. staff were very very nice yet very slow to deal with anything. Beach was beautiful though and very clean. No night life besides the 40 min shows at night. I would come back to cuba but not to this resort.
Melia Las Americas: Love This Hotel
Beautifully kept grounds, gorgeous beach, good food, comfortable accommodations, great service and friendly staff. The close proximity to the Varadero Golf Course is a real bonus. I am a repeater for all these reasons.
Melia Las Americas: Golf and resort... spectacular
Amazingly clean and beautiful resort and the same goes for all the surroundings. Golf course is a gem with ocean view spectacular. 6 rounds and never boring. The blue sea and white sand is breath taking.
Playa Caleta: same old
stayed at this hotel before love it there close to everthing great staff and service food is cuban all hotels in cuba have same food lots to eat and drink rooms were clean maids do a great job would go back anytime
Grand Memories Varadero: Fun in the sun at the Riu
Riu was an amazing resort, the grounds were often cleaned, surroundings were all taken care of. Our room was clean and bed comfortable as being in my own bed. I was most shocked about the water pressure and temperature of the shower, better then home. We ate at the buffet daily and as a picky eater each day I found myself full and satisfied, lots to choose from. The pool was warm and clean and always a great time to be had. The service that was provided whether for drinks, food, questions and of [... read more]
Punta Peninsula Varadero: mosquito resort!
The place itself is tired but basically ok. The still pond in the middle of it is a very plentiful mosquito hatchery! I was eaten alive even though I wore repellent. The grounds are otherwise nice and great pools but the beach is only ok not excellent as I've seen elsewhere in Cuba. The food was more boring than other places I've been as well but you wouldn't starve. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. The staff were good and friendly though. I won't go there again.
Roc Barlovento: Great Staff
Staff was super nice, wish I could say the same for the management. Manager was cold and didn't engage much with his clients. Food was really good. Lacked in entertainment during the day.. Hardly saw the animation team at all only at the shows at night. Rooms were clean but run down. All in all it was a great vacation because we made it one.
Be Live Turquesa: A complete disappointment !
I echo my companion's comments....m.cole. This was my first trip to Cuba and was looking forward to my trip. Unfortunately, this resort certainly was not a four-star, given the price we had paid. In addition to my friend's comments, I would like to add ..at new year's they ran out if champagne; ran out of real glasses to serve drinks, etc. I did enjoy my massage and some of staff. Many of the bar staff seemed overworked and unhappy. My highlight was my trip to Havana, old town of veradero and th [... read more]
Hotel Internacional: Great Beach!!
My husband went to this hotel 20 years ago. The beach is beautiful and it is walk to Varadero is short. The rooms are run down (some people were complaining of mould). The food was ok but repetitive compared to 4or5 star hotels that we have stayed at in Cuba. Overall if you are there for the beach-this is the best but if you want good variety of food- go to a higher rated hotel.
Hotel Bella Costa: Good resort
The hotel itself was dated and could use some updating. That being said, the resort overall seemed clean. Room: Although my room really had no issues, other than an uncomfortable mattress, and some cracked floor tiles. The resort grounds were well kept. Beach: The beach was groomed each morning. It was near impossible to find a decent beach chair if you did not go early enough, however we quickly learned that we could find a worker, pay in $2Cuc and he would find chairs to place wherever we want [... read more]
Starfish Cuatro Palmas: awesome location
Loved this hotel. However when booking make sure you book in the actual hotel and NOT las palmas economy rooms as those rooms are not attached to hotel. It's across the street n a pain when wanting to eat, swim or go to beach when your rooms not close by. But i stayed in the hotel room 1232 to be exact. This hotel is smaller and the staff are much more attentive then other larger hotels I've stayed at. Food is bland but completEly manageable. ( bring soya sauce packs and hot sauce or Dianas sauc [... read more]
Hotel Los Cactus: E Z Breezy Breezes
Traveled to Breezes Varadero in late December from snowy Ottawa and stayed for a week over New Years with the Misses. Comparing the resort to the others we saw in the area, we would say that one of the better parts was how spread out the complex is. No tall buildings with plenty of room to walk around. That being said, we saw a few different rooms and you definitely want to request to be as far away from the disco as possible. Rooms were damp and noisy due to the proximity to a sad discotheque. Roc Barlovento: Not a 5* paradise, but a fair 3.5* resort :)
My husband and I visited this resort from December 27th 2014 to January 3rd 2015. We enjoyed our stay and did not have any major complaints. That being said, we came in with no great expectations, which helped us to not be disappointed when things were not always perfect... If you go in expecting a 5* experience, you will, undoubtedly, be disappointed. If you come in expecting a well-maintained, average 3-3.5* resort, you should be satisfied and pleased with things, overall. The best assets of t [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Beautiful hotel!
This hotel was fabulous! Just enough stuff to keep you busy and if you're just wanting to relax, the staff is not pushy, they are extremely friendly and very accommodating. The grounds are beautiful and clean. The beach is gorgeous! The rooms are spacious as well as the bathrooms and kept clean as well. I would definitely stay again. Just loved it!
Club Kawama: Not bad
We were basictly their for the sun, beach and sand. What need to be change is the beds they were horrible to sleep on and the beach at lease pass the tractor to clean up all the broken shells the disco on the resort was NOT good as they need to also get rid of the mould the smell and play more upgraded music :) other then that like i said we were their more for the sun beach and sand
Club Kawama: Good Resort
Nice clean place. We enjoyed our stay. The food was quite good. Only disappointing thing was the disco. It stank of dampness and mould. None of the guests seemed to know where it was and as a result no one went even though it was open each evening. It should be aired out and publicized so that guests can go. Not enough night life at this resort.
Muthu Playa Varadero: Great beach
Resort was older but exactly what I expected, price was right!! Food was good and employees were very nice, especially the ones working the beach. Drinks were ok. Public bathrooms should have been kept up more often.
Hotel Villa Cuba: Villa Cuba
This is a beautiful resort, inside and out. The staff are friendly and accommodating. This was our 2nd time here. Only a few things we would like to see improved. In the buffet restaurant, the set up needs to be better: plates in a separate area and meat in a separate station. Trying to get into the a la carte restaurants was ridiculous. Why offer a la carte if you can't get a reservation? Lastly, control your guests! Many guests, mostly youth, were loud, rude, not properly dressed, eating and d [... read more]
Punta Peninsula Varadero: Disappointed
This hotel is rated as a 5 star. I would give it a 3.5. Service was horrible. There were no towels. The hotel needs repairs and upgrades. A whole section of lobby tiles suddenly lifted away from the floor. Before check out we were locked our of our room and the wifi we had purchased no longer worked.
