Viva Maya by Wyndham: Good Beach, Central Location

To start we booked through Holiday Market Travel, which has been bought/taken over my trip central. So there description of was different from what is currently on their website. So, some expectation we different. I was expecting a litre of water per day as per the "Smile" extras, which made a difference to me. We had to purchase water everyday. The second item it was longer transfer from the airport. Other than those two items, this is an average 3plus hotel. The free internet by the lobby is v [... read more]ery slow, it is better to walk to the Starbucks just outside the resort for better results. The town is about a 20 minutes walk depending on your speed. And in town if you choose you can take a ferry over to Cozumel. The food and drinks are average, and they do have an coffee/bar to get specialty coffees. The rooms are average, and clean, the pillows are flat or too puffy, the lighting in the room is commercial grade florescent, the lighting at night made me feel nauseated, so I left them off. Lots of activities if you want to participate, and the beach vendors really do not bug you. Overall just average.

Riu Lupita: Very good resort

We enjoyed our stay, however at poolside there is no " NO SMOKING AREA" for non smokers. as we do not smoke and had hard time to get away from smokers. One thing I like to mention is that I requested special cereal and it was provided next morning, I greatly appreciated the staff for doing this for me. The rooms were clean however if they provided time clock in rooms it would been great. The Resort food was good, however there were so many guests who got sick ( diarrhea) ?? food poising, almost  [... read more]80% the people We met suffered. I would say the Resort has to find out where is the deficiency in the food processing system e.g. cleaning water, filtration or some one handling the food must be a carrier or find the source of contamination. We found the staff and the Manager were very friendly, they were providing excellent services . I found the" Check in " service was great, which I never seen before, it was so simple and very fast and very WELCOMING. I will definitely recommend this place.

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun: Awesome resort

Friendly and helpful staff, great food, beautiful resort and beachfront. We found it easy to get a table at any of the restaurants. No line ups! Room service arrived within 15 minutes. We are definitely planning to return.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Preferred Club Dec.20-28th 2014 room 106

The grounds were pretty nice, some pool tiles coming loose , but still good. Food(Buffet) is the same as most 4 Stars. Mosquitos are bad due to the jungle area ( take Deet) the restaurants (a la Carts) were great but there was a continued problem with guests travelling in large numbers, they wouldn't leave once finished eating, sometimes taking 3 hours for 16 people to clear out of a restaurant that didn't seem to hold many people. (They really need an enforced time limit, within reason) Staff was great, we had preferred club & room 106( best room in the place on the ground floor) preferred club does try to give you coupons that they say you can just pick up, but you can't .....it's a sales pitch of some kind, I told him I had 5 minutes, he said it would take much longer for him to give me free coupons& he wanted my husband there( you do the math). The Kids club is the Best thing ever, my 2 kids , 6 & 7years old.....had a wonderful time there, & they cried when our 8 days were up. Votte, Karla, Adriana,Gabriaella .....top notch girls. Tip them daily as it is 1st class babysitting , crafts and such. My biggest complaint was at the adult only pool, the staff was awesome, BUT there were a lot of teenagers taking up beds we pay for ! Parents were letting them take their beds, & they always seemed to be in the best beds. I was there 3 years ago & they always knew who was in there, this time they didn't seem to care ( I even complained at the preferred club). I can't stand paying for something that you don't get, Adults without teenagers, don't want teenagers at their pool, when they paid to use the adult only pool. Teenagers ruin an adult pool, I'd rather have little kids, at least they are happy!

Riu Tequila: Really beautiful resort

My husband and I went there for our honeymoon in November. There was a little mix up from our booking and they didn't know it was our honeymoon though. Our first room ended up being by the street and so we had headlights shining in our room. We asked to be moved and they accommodated us right away. The food was amazing but at ter 2 weeks it gets a little boring as it does everywhere.. but you can always find something no matter what. We didn't spend much time ON the resort as the beach was a 5 m [... read more]inute walk down a pathway away and we preferred beach to pool. It was nice because we could still eat and drink at the beach using Riu Yucatan. The only small complaint is that the staff really enjoy tipping and will cater to your every need IF you tip them. But when you're there for 2 weeks you can't tip the whole time. So by the end we were slightly ignored mostly in the restaurant Jalisco. Our maid also would only make you 2 towel animals before she would expect a tip. Still we loved the resort and the front desk people were absolutely amazing so we would definitely go back.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Gourmet Gourmet from food to drinks!

A perfect resort for those wanting deluxe! Gourmet standards as far as food! Service impeccable. Zen grounds, peaceful and spa like resort, chick boutique. "Starbucks-like" coffee bar on resort. Loved it!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: The resort and staff were fantastic.

The rooms and food were great with volleyball by the beach daily. It was a family vacation with our two boy's (15 & 19) and we had a great time. As boys can be boys, they accidently left the safe open with $1000 of electronics in it. Chamber maid called surcurity, safe was locked emdiatley and a note was left for us to contact them upon our return. NOTHING missing and very professional

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great resort.

Accomodations were clean and spacious. Problems such as lighting issues were addressed promptly. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Property was well maintained. Loved the wildlife. Buffets and a la cartes were well done.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Just ok

Our kids (aged 6 & 8) had a lot of fun at the water park, kids club, the petting zoo, and exploring the whole resort and the adults found it a relaxing holiday as well, but I don't think we would come back. As soon as we come off the bus that transported us from the airport to the resort we were bombarded by a hotel worker 'Franklin'. At first we thought he was being helpful and offering us welcoming drinks, etc. But soon he was taking our information down and our 'welcome' was lasting an hour a [... read more]nd we hadn't eaten a good meal since breakfast (and it was now past supper). The last thing he did was request that each couple give him $10 to hold our spot for our breakfast and 'tour' the next day. This was the final clue to us that it wasn't a welcoming it was a timeshare deal. It made us mad that they weren't upfront with what they were actually doing and that they catch you at your most vulnerable time- when you barely have your feet on their grounds. In general their sales pitch for their timeshare deal was WAY too pushy. We ended up not going on the tour on our second day and Franklin harassed us every day he saw us in he lobby about booking another spot with him. He made it so we avoided going to the lobby. We found the other guests at the resort to be extremely rude- we've never experienced this at any other resort we have visited. I know his isn't the resort's fault but it did have a big impact on our holiday. There is no bottled water or straws at the resort because they are being Eco friendly. There are water coolers everywhere including your rooms but it is all warm water. Luckily we had empty water bottles with us that we filled from the water cooler and placed in the fridge. The beach at this resort leaves a lot to be desired. Our kids refused to go in the water and only played in the waves that came onto the beach. Without water shoes you couldn't comfortably walk in the ocean. By the end of our eight day stay we were tired of eating at the buffets. Because you are limited in how many times you east at the restaurants you can end up eating at the buffets three times a day. This is where the other guests were the most rude. The food at the buffets are practically the same every day - it would be nice to have a different choice now and again. Our last night at the resort we were shocked to find a baby tarantula in our room - I am not exaggerating! It was two inches in diameter!! The same night the other couple we were with had a mouse in their room at about 3:00am. It wasn't like they just found it running around in their room, it was eating crackers under the pillows they were sleeping on. All I can say is Thank god this excitement was on our last night there. The employees at the resort for the most part were great! Christina, the lady who cleaned our room was great!

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Great all-around resort

We liked everything about this resort. The buffet food was very good, while the taco restaurant and creperie in the mall area were fantastic and a daily treat. The pool is huge and always a shaded place to relax. It's a bit chilly but great for a cool off from the hot sun. The beach was the highlight, tons of shaded huts to sit under. Turquoise water, mostly sandy bottom (watch out for the few rocks), and nice big waves to play in. We spent most of our time here. Entertainment was really good [... read more] too, with the MC Edu running the show most nights. Overall great value and great location 30 minutes from Cancun.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great Family Resort!

The resort is impeccably maintained and the pools are large and child friendly. The water park is amazing. There is a good variety of dining options and the food is above average. The house red wine is very good quality. The entertainment is geared to all age groups. This resort is very good value and I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Amazing resort.

The hotel was beautiful,clean and the staff was always there to help. The pool was a little cold for my liking but everyone else thought it to be refreshing.would recomment it for a R&R.great value for your money.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great vacation

Awesome food, you must go see Roman at the little colourful Mexican diner upstairs, his service is simply extraordinary. Avoid the Steak House at all costs however. Italian is great too! Cleanliness overall was really good, from bathrooms to rooms to pools. it was a great holiday, only downside is the service at the reception desk, employees have no clue how to manage issues and the manager I spoke with regarding a malfunction of our room key was sooooooo arrogant and didn't care at all our ke [... read more]ycards stopped working 3 times over the stay (during one of these occurrences my 3 yo daughter was sick outside our room... major inconvenience that she didn't even care to address)

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Another great trip to the Mayan Riviera!

This was our first time at the NOW Sapphire and we had a nice trip. The weather at the beginning of Dec is always hit and miss, nut even when it rained, the lobby bar had entertainment and great bar service! The rooms were nicely equipped, tipping your maid service goes a long way. The restaurants were all good, the food is nicely presented and plentiful. Try and go to the hibachi show at the Lemongrass. Very entertaining! The preferred lounge was a nice touch. Yummy snacks and treats. You could [... read more] walk forever along the beach, yes there is seaweed but nothing you couldn't get around. Lots of chairs, palapas and towels. Never had a problem finding somewhere to sit. But be aware, the preferred pool has limited seating and Bali beds, and you must reserve them the day before. And don't be late claiming them or they give them away (trust me). Overall, we had a nice time at this resort. It's big enough to find things to do with plenty of choices for activities, food and bars. But it's also small enough to get around without issue.

Ocean Maya Royale: Okay Resort

This resort was okay but I wouldn't rush back to it unless it was a real great deal; the grounds were beautiful, the public areas were also very nice and the rooms were beautiful but the food left me a little disappointed, the food was always cold and the only time I could get a hot meal was at the a la carte or the pasta station. Breakfast was not anything that was appealing to me, I like to make a bacon sandwich but the bacon wasn't cooked it was terrible and the days it was crisp you couldn't [... read more] bite into it. The pillows in the rooms were terrible. We travelled there in late November 2014 and maybe it was the time of year but we were mostly disappointed in the beach!! The water was so brown that some days I wouldn't even swim in it.

Grand Palladium Riviera Resort And Spa: Great times!

Great service throughout the entire trip. Food was great. Drinks were great. Rooms were spectacular and always clean. Great layout for the resort. It was at full capacity approx 8500 -9000 people on the resort and it felt like no one was there because of the way the resort was designed. This was our second time back to the resort and we enjoyed it as much as the first and will probably go back again. Honestly, we had nothing negative to say hence probably go back again.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Nice Resort

My wife and I stayed at the Azul Fives for 8 days from November 20th -28th. The good: Friendly, helpful bar and restaurant staff at all the locations throughout the resort. Buffet had excellent food with a different theme each night, though selection was somewhat limited. The pools and grounds are very nice. There is an infinity pool on the beach and 2 more that snaked through the well manicured gardens. The room was very nice and big, though paying extra for the roof top patio was not worth it [... read more]. Great resort for families with small children. Lots of strollers and high chairs! The bad: Though the room was very nice, location was next to a road and a jungle on the other side of that. Road traffic and someone with a small engine gardening tool that rev'd up and down and up and down and up and down woke us up every morning at around 7:00am. Nice. Front desk wouldn't do anything about it. We were told the resort was full so no room change available. For all you early risers...have they got a room for you! The concierge was helpful but there was a hidden agenda. They were really pushing the "loyalty program" which is their term for time sharing. Those Mexican's sure love trying to get you into those seminars! Not enough lounges on the beach to accommodate all the guests. The beach area isn't very large so lounge space is somewhat limited and there was very little shade and no palapas. We had one good meal and one bad at the a la cart restaurant on the beach. That piece of chewy meat they tried to pawn off as beef tenderloin just wasn't, so it was back to the buffet. It would have been nice to have a buffet on the beach. Great resort for families with small children. Lots of strollers and high chairs!

HAD A GREAT TIME ENJOYED GOLFING ETC. ENJOYED THE VARIOUS SELECTIONS OF FOOD. RELAXING TIME. GOOD VALUE.HAVE BEEN AT THE RESORT BEFORE AND WOULD PICK IT AGAIN. THE STAFF LOOKED AFTER OUR VARIOUS NEEDS. WE ENJOYED THE LOCATION AND WOULD RECOMMEND THIS RESORT.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Spectaculor

We've been to many all inclusives over the last ten years. This one was by far the best. The beaches in the Mayan are not the best but this one is one of the better ones we've seen. The hotel is sparkling clean. The staff were all accommodating and pleasant. The food was delicious. We spent ten days there and even had tried to find anything we did not like, we wouldn't have been able to. Free wifi and four computer stations to use free of charge if you needed them. Grand Palladium Kantenah: Another Good Trip to Grand Palladium

This was our 3rd visit to Grand Palladium, first time to the Kantenah resort (stayed at White Sands and Colonial previously). I think Kantenah has been our favorite of the 3 so far - a little less travel time to get to the pools and beach. Very large resort, they have a little train that will make various stops at resorts, the spa, sports centre, etc. Food was good at both the buffet (breakfast & lunch) and the a la cartes we got into. Travelled with a large group (9) and we were only able to ma [... read more]ke 2 reservations (need to be done at 8 AM the day before) and the rest we just showed up around 6 PM and they were always able to accommodate us. A little early but not an issue. Entertainment was mediocre at best - a mix of kids & adult shows (for the 9 PM show), then a 2nd show at 10 which was geared more towards the adults - the rock show was great, live band and great dancing. Overall we'd go back.
