I will start with the flaw, the one flaw. The bed was too hard. The 3 other ladies I travelled with felt the same but were not affected in the same manner as myself because I have existing lower back issues. However, all things considered, it did not ruin my trip and I will tell you why.
The grounds were immaculate, staff was very friendly (contrary to several reviews I read stating otherwise). The room was spotless and lovely and the maid staff made sure we were fully stocked each day with a[... read more]ll coffees, teas, water, etc... the shower is to die for (rainfall shower head), and the hallways/ common areas were also very well kept. We had no issues with either of our rooms. The entertainment staff (pool area) were fabulous. Not pushy but got you up out of your seat to participate in dancing, water activities, Zumba, and even a spin class in the pool. The pool and surrounding area were the cleanest I have ever experienced and everywhere you look is beautiful. Lots of covered areas (umbrellas, canopied lounge chairs) and an ample amount of chairs so there was no worry that you wouldn’t find one. They hosted a beach party and a champagne jacuzzi party on 2 of the evenings so there’s a nice mixture of events as well as nightly shows. The disco is in the village area of the resort so you can choose to participate or not but are not affected by it if you choose not to. It was by far the best resort disco I have ever experienced and I highly recommend it even if you’re not a big “party goerâ€. It was a great experience. The food was good and the selection varied each evening as the theme changes daily but they did have some constant offerings so if you find something you really like, chances are you will get it again.
I enjoyed this resort and all that it has to offer so much that I have decided to have my wedding here next year. I don’t know of anything better than that to express how amazing of a time we had and we can’t wait to return.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Fantastic Resort
Grounds immaculate and well maintained
Food excellent and wide variety
Outside Tours (went on one ) excellent
Staff just super
Entertainment Good
Super resort worthy of trip advisor (#1 out of 40 hotels) in Puerto Plata. On our way passed by other resort which seemed not up to par to Iberostar
Don't think the resort was 100% according to the no of people in the buffet. Other specialty restaurants available

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Decent Vacation
First I have to thank Nita at tripcentral.ca for her work in booking our vacation to the Cayacoa. She notified the resort that we were traveling there for our anniversary and the resort responded with nicely decorated table for our anniversary dinner and a happy anniversary signage on our room door . Nita has come through for us every time we have booked with her. Now for the resort.
PRO's
The alacarts were delicious, the service was excellent, and the staff was friendly.
The room in the R[... read more]oyal service area was quiet with an ocean view.
The maids did a great job keeping our room clean and tidy.
The shuttle drivers were always friendly and never expected a tip for their services but we always gave them one.
The buffet was very good and the meal on Gala night was an added bonus with the lobster and other shell fish.
CON'S
Too many stairs to every where, I think there were a 100+ stairs from our room to the pool.
Pool is too small.
Wifi only in lobby, I think if you pay the extra for Royal Service you should have it included in your room.
Royal Service, for what you get it is just not worth it. The Royal service lounge is just a room with cookies and a couple of computers, and I thought a consierge was a person who personally took care of you and not just a person you never see when you call them.
A lot of construction work happening while we were there.
While the beach that is at the bottom of the elevator is ok the other one in the Royal service area is not a beach at all but rather small areas of sand between trees overhanging the water.
The staff at front desk were excellent and responded to your needs or requests right away.
This hotel is a very nice looking hotel that is kept very clean. The surrounding area is picturesque . While I would rate this hotel as very good I am not sure I would return. Because of all the stairs there really is not a lot of places to go for walks at night and that is something my wife and I like to do and sometimes it felt a little closed in. We wanted to see the Samana area and now we have . Also we went on the excursion to El Limon waterfall, and I would say it is over rated, the area where you can swim is small with a very rocky bottom, and the trail for the horses is full of large rocks and I don't know how the horses don't get hurt walking on it , I would not do this excursion again and I could not recommend it to anyone who cared about a horse.

Grand Palladium Palace: Disappointing!!
For starters, this was our 4Th time at this resort - I was very disappointed to learn that two of the top restaurants (Brazilian & Japanese) were under construction - With that being said, this is a stay at one and play at three resort, however both the Punta Cana and Bavaro lobbies were closed and under construction as well...
There was a lot of construction throughout the resort from beach work to grounds work - Our room was on the ground floor facing the beach - The second day a crew start[... read more]ed digging a trench right outside of our room and this went on the entire stay so needless to say there was not much privacy or enjoyment sitting outside on the little room patio..
Restaurants - The first come, first serve was very frustrating with the above two restaurants being closed - The Royal Turquesa guests have the privilege to make reservations in advance - This made for extremely long waiting times for those staying at any of the other three properties.
I had asked our travel agency (Trip Central) about any resort construction, damage, etc due to the recent hurricane or other and were told all was fine - I am disappointed with TC for not being more informed and letting us know of the resort conditions...I have been booking trips through TC for many years and now a little skeptical moving forward..

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: An enjoyable vacation!
The resort was relatively small and not filled to capacity, which had pros and cons. Pros were that it was quite and we really got to know the staff, cons were that all the Ala carte restaurants were not open every night and the buffet was not open for supper. Our first room was a disaster, no A/C, no hot water, and the sink leaked onto the floor. Complained but did not get a functional room until the next day. Second room was great! Breakfast and lunch buffet was good...8 out of 10. Ala c[... read more]arte restaurants were very mediocre...5 out of 10 at best. Beach was nice...pool was nice. Drinks were OK. Best part of the resort was the animation crew (staff responsible for activities); they were all full of energy and a lot of fun. Lots of activities. Overall a good vacation...relaxing and fun!

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Bad experience at Bahia Principe Cayacoa
A 2 weeks family vacation at the end of October 2017. We have booked a sea view room. The view from the balcony was very nice ... unfortunately was the only positive thing at the hotel. The food was average ... the drinks selection poor, the beach a desaster. Around the hotel and on the breadge garbage everywhere ... the experience was so bad that we had changed the hotel after 2 days.

Excellence Punta Cana: Excellents Punta Cana
Stayed at this resort for the 8th time, Nov. 1 to 11th 2017. This property had been closed during the summer for a major upgrade and facelift. We were the first guests to arrive on the reopening day, Wednesday, Nov.1st. We were greeted by members of the staff and an entertainment group. We had booked our usual standered room, but to our surprise the hotel had upgraded us to the Exclusive Excellents Club. After checking in we were given a tour of the “new†complex, the transformation was abso[... read more]lutely astounding. There were so many changes to mention but it is beautiful. One of the main reasons we like this resort is the layout. The entire complex runs parallel to the beach, so were ever you are accommodated you are only a few steps from the restaurants and the beach. The rooms, restaurants, and entertainment area are top notch. One big change was the relocation of the Exclusive Excellents Club. They have 2 new private pools, each with its own jacuzzi (2) in each pool, also rooms with their own swim up pool. The food is outstanding, and service is there big attraction. I had a chance to talk to the owner at breakfast one morning about the changes and he said they spent about 45 million dollars to bring it up to a more modern facility. This hotel is an adults only, so if you are thinkiing about a vacation in Punta Cana, look at this location, it is a little smaller than most of the new hotels, but it sure beats the long walk in the big properties.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful resort!
At this resort there are many pools and restaurants. It is on a large property and has many stairs. Not ideal for anyone with limited mobility. The staff are fantastic. The food is very tasty with no shortage. The beach is warm. Only downfall we experienced was on weekend when locals are admitted, lack of service then. Would definitely return. Rum prices are cheaper at the rum factory. We hired a local guide for $50usd plus tip for 5 people and he took us around to the downtown, rum factory (onl[... read more]y $4 pp), fort and shopping. Definite recommendation!

Excellence El Carmen: Extraordinary Service!
Overall the resort is a modern multi- building, multi pool paradise with a spectacular beach! There are many places to start your day whether it's in the well staffed gym or coffee bar, beach front restaurant or incredible buffet. The same holds true for wrapping up your day with delicious dinners and a show in the theatre or a quieter drink with new friends. This resort is luxury but above all they pride themselves on friendly, genuine staff who appear to effortlessly meet your every wish!

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Loved our stay
I found this resort to be an easy one to get around and the set up was nicely done, Our purpose was to have a safe, relaxing stay and to enjoy good walks on the beach, ocean time, swim time and eat lots of veges and fruits. I travel with a walker and found it to be an easy resort to manouver. I was able to access the carts as needed however found that all areas were accessible to me with the exception of the inner pool area via land as there were stairs to climb and decend however the bar was ac[... read more]cessible via the pool so parking the walker near the lazy river and getting in a good walk in the water was attainable with ease.
The main building housed the front lobby bar, the entertainment stage, a cafe with great freshly made espresso based coffees, teas, and a sweets, tea sandwich cooler, an ice cream parlour, and a Burger shop. It felt like we were going into little cafes, shops however this being all inclusive no money required just pop in sit back and enjoy the atmosphere. The dining area was similar in that is felt like little restaurants. We enjoyed the Spice as well as the Mecure. The morning breakfast was served at the buffet, a juice bar offered smoothies and blended juices from a good variety of fruits and veges, fresh espresso and regular coffee was available.
The Barefoot Grill offered awesome roast chicken and at times fried chicken as well as hamburgers, salads, fruits, fries, chili, taco chips and cheese. Ernesto was our special connection at the beach grill he ensured we got beverages, always greeting us with a big smile and caring ways.
This vacation was a much needed healing time and we were not disappointed. The staff were attentive, supportive special mention to Olivia Concierge, Lissa Front Lobby Ambassedor, Aris and Zorrilo Butlers who kept an eye out on us. The rooms offer comfy beds, cozy linens. The balcony spacious, bug free with a fun jaccuzi just need to ensure you fill it up past the jets.
The grounds are well kept and nicely laid out.
We needed to be able to relax and feel safe and we got that. We are already looking at how we can book another stay.

Excellence El Carmen: Its all in the name... Excellence (El Carmen)!
The Excellence El Carmen is a relatively new, adult only resort about 45 minutes from Punta Cana Int'l Airport. This was our 6th Excellence visit, but 1st to this property. The property is nicely laid out, with easy pathways in and out of the sunshine (helpful if it rains!). There are many pools to suit everyone's tastes, quiet, busy, mostly with nearby bars for beverages of choice to self pickup or wait-staff delivery. The beach is fantastic, with plenty of protected seating, and also serve[... read more]d by beverage wait-staff. The rooms are very spacious, with King Beds (at least ours was), generous bath facilities including Jacuzzi tub, a spacious sitting area, a balcony/terrace with table, chairs and loungers. We were fortunate to be assigned a suite with a private pool, and small grassed area right outside our door. There are about 5 buildings with these suites on the ground floor levels. The Restaurants are numerous, with lots of variety, and we did not have enough time to sample them all. As we have found on our previous Excellence visits, the staff are outstanding, genuine, friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. Personally, I suffered a leg injury 2 weeks before departure, and my mobility for the trip down and back, and while on site was severely restricted. TripCentral Rep Jenn Black ensured that the resort and the Airline were able to accommodate my temporary mobility needs, and I am happy to report that these measures were well executed in all respects. We will be returning to Excellence properties in Punta Cana again, and will certainly be pleased to work with Jenn Black and the talented and dedicated TripCentral.ca team again.
This resort, waiters are good attitude, clean, beautiful rooms, beautiful garden and foods are yummy ðŸ‘ðŸ‘. Unfortunately, the water of the beach is not really clear, in addition, everything has five-star level.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful Resort
The resort is beautiful and huge. Beaches were clean. There were several pools and bars. I only ate at the main buffet at the front of the resort and it had theme nights so it was nice to have a variety. There was always a few good desserts. We hired a cab to tour the city and shop. It was nice to get out with the locals.
I found everything to be every expensive when trying to buy rum or souvenirs even after you had a good tan.
The casino on site was extremely tight so don’t waste your[... read more] money. I heard the a la cartes weren’t so good from other people that tried it so we didn’t go.
The weekends locals were allowed to stay. On these days service and food were lower quality.
Rooms were clean and comfy thanks to my made Valentina!!
Staff were friends.
We did go on a time share tour. Gave us a chance to ride around the huge resort. They gave you a Mickie if rum and a starter bottle of mommajuana. You can only be VIP to have access to golf carts.
There are a LOT of stairs so be prepared to put on the miles.
All in all I would go again it was a very nice place.
