Riu Palace Paradise Island: Great Resort

The food in the Bahamas was the best we've ever had including this resort. Everything was great except the beach had an undertone so probably shouldn't use....pool was nice but not overly large....Overall, not a bad resort but next time would maybe go to Cable beach area to stay because we do like to go into the ocean.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Great Bang for your Buck!

The hotel itself was perfectly adequate, with all amenities in place. The beach was a sight to behold. Sand that stretched all the way to the hotel itself. Always able to find plenty of seating even with the dreaded spring breakers everywhere. They were quite the nuissance when we first arrived, but by the end of the trip, they were no trouble at all and our stay was even better. Memories Grand Bahama: Amazing time

Friendly staff, a large variety if food and very tasty. The steak house was the best. Kids area was fantastic! The nightly entertainment was fun, there was never a shortage of things to do. Extremly clean resort.

Beautiful grounds, great food, friendly people. My favourite restaurant was the steak house. We ate there 4 times in a week. The Japaness restaurant was also very good. I enjoyed it so much that I have booked another week in September with 8 friends of mine.

Memories Grand Bahama: Incredible!!

This hotel was amazing! The accommodations were lovely and the food was incredible!! Best of all the staff at memories were some of the nicest people we have ever met! We never had to wait for anything... Food, drinks, more towels... Everything we needed and asked for was taken care of immediately! We will definitely return to memories and have recommended it to all our friends and family!

Warwick Paradise Island: AMAZING!!

The hotel was fantastic. Minor glitches here and there, elevators sometimes unreliable but instead of climbing up or down just go up the stairs to the floor above you, for some reason always works! The food was INCREDIBLE. I have stayed at 5* hotels with food no where near as good. The staff were amazing, the drinks were always flowing. The beach isn't sooo great, but cabbage beach and cable beach are both close enough (cabbage is 5 min walk)

Breezes Bahamas: Amazing Resort

Had a great time at the resort. The staff were friendly and the food was surprisingly good! The only draw back was the fact that there were hardly any shade to lie under. I would definitely go back to the Breezes again.

Memories Grand Bahama: Definitely Not A 4-Star - 3.5 At Best

We had booked this resort well before the reviews had been written upon it's opening. Once we saw the reviews we were a bit concerned, although we usually take reviews with a grain of salt. Some reviews had very valid concerns which proved true. That said there are good points and bad. For the most part the resort was okay, but there are serious issues that need to be addressed by management. My wife and I stayed at Memories March 21-28, 2014. The main reason we decided on the Bahamas was the di [... read more]rect flight and the fact we'd never visited there before. The room we had requested a few days beforehand via e-mail faced away from the beach and the sometimes noisy Prop Club (disco). We just had a Deluxe Island-View room with no balcony (we didn't care). It overlooked the front between the Casino and the Lobby entrance on the 4th floor (the top floor in our section). We managed to get what we had heard was one of only eight king-size beds (not sure if that was true or not). The grounds are nice with beautiful Royal Palms and landscaping. The "sugar mill" and structure looking much like an aqueduct are a nice touch. They closed the water slide due to injuries, however. The pool is cool but doesn't need to be heated. It's the Caribbean people! We found the rooms and general appearance of the resort clean. However, the halls, doorways and carpeting are dated looking. It's the first time we've seen carpeting at a beach resort which left us scratching our heads. The room was nicely decorated with lots of closet and storage space. The bar fridge was stocked daily with 2 bottles of water, 2 beers and one each of Coke, Sprite, Orange and Pineapple juice. Yes the air conditioner was rather loud, but we've experienced that in other resorts. Bed was comfortable and not as hard as others in the Caribbean. There was also free Wi-Fi which was awesome. No buying time and slow PCs. The bathroom was small but keep in mind that this was a Sheraton hotel at time. Towels and facecloths were replaced as we needed. There were plenty and no issues. We had hot water and shower pressure was okay; however, there was a huge issue with the toilet. For two days it would not flush. That is not good! The maintenance people were called 3 times and they showed up almost immediately but the issue would go away then come back. We were told (by staff and other residents at other area condos) water pressure is a problem all over the island. That said, I am sure there are pump solutions to increase the water pressure. We had heard that this former hotel had been closed at various times totalling 6 years! That is not good for the plumbing or other infrastructure. Regardless, this place opened to the public way too soon. A $20-million overhaul apparently wasn't enough for a property originally built in 1965 (renovated in 2006 & again in 2013). Fix it! The beach and pool are great but it can get crowded. There are not enough chairs, and more importantly, not enough umbrellas for shade. More need to be purchased. We saw a number of people laying on the sand as there were no chairs to be found. If you sleep in till 11:00 am, drag yourself to the water and find no available chairs, you don't have our sympathy. Yes, you have to reserve chairs with towels by 9:00 am or you are out of luck. All of the Caribbean reserves chairs this way - so like it or lump it. The Japanese restaurant Negano Teppanyaki was the same as one we had in Jamaica only the staff, although friendly, weren't as funny or engaging with the customers. You are supposed to entertain the guests. The bland food is exactly the same every night. We felt as though we were rushed to finish our meal and get out. Not so was the à la carte 'H' Steakhouse. The staff was so friendly, engaging and professional like our server, Patty. The food was outstanding and the manager, Sonny, was the best. He was diplomatic at times, charming, always engaging the customers and asking how they liked their meals. We ate there 3 times. We avoided the Italian buffet as we were told by many people the food was cold (being left outside under heat lamps) exposed to the elements and possible contamination. The open air Italian should really be an à la carte restaurant totally inside. The Selections Buffet was very good considering the small size of the resort. If you can't find something to eat, there's something seriously wrong with you. No seriously - go on a cruise if you are a picky eater. There was even maple syrup for breakfasts! The Prop Club had good wings, chicken strips, calamari and burgers. However, the poutine, which looked like it had a mild white chicken gravy (not beef), was not very good. The coffee everywhere on the resort seemed to taste like instant to me. In fact the Beans Café's machines are Nescafé brand. Maybe that explains it. Also, it seems that in the Caribbean, there is no cream only milk. It is probably very expensive to obtain cream on the islands. The Social Bar had an awesome staff with bartender Rondell among others. They are hard workers and endure long hours but are always a laugh. Someone had bought a bottle of Mott's Clamato juice (which apparently is available at Solomon's store in Freeport - price tag said $10.99!) to make Caesars. If Sunwing can bring maple syrup and Costco's Kirkland bottled water (in room fridges) from Canada, why can't they import Mott's Clamato juice (& Caesar rim) for the bars? I am sure this would be a big hit to the Canadians who maybe made up 90% of the guests staying here. Beware at the Casino, even though the resort is called Memories Grand Bahama Casino & Resort, your drinks are not free. You must pay for them even though it is part of the resort. This makes no sense - especially if you want people to fill the room spending money. No wonder it was empty most of the time! No bugs seen - no mosquitoes or even ants! We were pleasantly surprised. Good security everywhere on the resort. They were very friendly and you felt safe even outside the resort. The police station is next door. Buy your duty-free stuff at the markets not in the pedestrian mall between Memories and the Grand Lucayan. I saw a $8.00 difference on one bottle of rum. Beware - the airport does not have a duty-free! While we were at the resort, Bahamian Prime Minister Perry Christie attended the official opening of Memories, checked out the restaurants, and stayed one night on the 4th floor (I hope he had good water pressure & his toilet flushed). Beforehand workers were seen scurrying to replace things. Funny how everything suddenly worked when he was there - then, after he left, problems were back to normal. We were told the opening of this resort is crucial to Grand Bahama tourism. The promise of 1,000 permanent jobs and daily Sunwing flights from Canada. The island's struggling economy appears to be sinking like a stone. The issue is get things fixed and attract the tourists with things to do. Places like Port Lucaya Marketplace and the International Bazaar have little to offer especially since the 2009 hurricane and haven't recovered. There were the usual t-shirts and junky trinkets made in China (and locally) but also fairly reasonable jewellery stores. We were expecting the Bahamas to be one of the more affluent islands in the Caribbean with lots to offer, but boy, were we shocked! The government needs to get rid of the red tape for companies looking to invest in the island and fuel its economic driver - tourism or the island will fail miserably. Right now it seems Grand Bahama cannot offer what other Caribbean destinations offer. The thing about Memories though, is boredom. After the very lame nightly shows, all one can do is sit at a bar. Where is the musical talent? Even the Count Basie Square only has a show 2 nights a week! There should be entertainment of some kind every night/day during peak tourist season! Tourists are bored! Memories and the Grand Lucayan Resort have a nice pedestrian mall that could be a draw if the had entertainment on it. Management - get together and come up with something! You are wasting a great space and potential tourist draw. The staff we found were wonderful and seemed at times frustrated with problems not being addressed by management or not enough training being provided. This resort is definitely not a 5-star. I would rate it as 3.5. I am certain the Caribbean resorts give themselves the star ratings as they see fit. We cannot honestly recommend this resort until some serious issues are dealt with. Too many kids here for us. And who wants to bring babies on vacation? Sorry Sunwing, but there are many nicer and less expensive resorts elsewhere in the Caribbean. - Elevators need signage to tell people which floor contains what like Buffet or Reception. - Pool areas need supervision. Saw kids eating gelato and drinking in the whirlpool. No food, no drinks policy should be enforced and it is not. - Fix the water pressure problem. You cannot expect people to live in rooms with toilets that don't flush! - Better activities and entertainment is needed as the shows are very lame. People are bored. - Buy more beach chairs, and more importantly, umbrellas for shade. There aren't enough! - More places to get bottled water - especially in the mornings as the bars don't open till noon. - Update the photos on your website as some are not representative of the property right now. - Improve the wait time at 'H' Steakhouse by implementing a reservation system for it.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: NICE FOR THE MONEY BUT IT NEEDS UPDATING

THE HOTEL IS NOT BAD, NEEDS SOME UPDATING FOOD WAS MOSTLY GOOD, BEACH IS VERY NICE, POOL IS AVERAGE. THEY NEED A LITTLE BETTER ENTERTAINMENT WHERE THE HOTEL IS SET OUT BY ITSELF YU PRETTY MUCH STAY THERE. GETS BORING WHEN STAYING 2 WEEKS. WE STAYED IN THE TIME SHARE BLDG. HANDY TO EVERYTHING. WOULD SOONER BEEN ON THE GROUND FLOOR AS STEPS ARE HARD ON OLDER PEOPLE.WE WOULD GO BACK WHEN WE KNOW SOME RENOS. HAVE BEEN DONE.NICE TO HAVE DIRECTFLIGHT FROM HFX.

Warwick Paradise Island: Good value!

The hotel is under a much needed renovation. The staff was terrific! Food was good, and the value was great! We enjoyed the all inclusive drinks and food. We wished that it was on the ocean side not harbour side, but we still enjoyed the pool. Cocktails were great, and we enjoyed karaoke night. Can't beat the price for four nights! I would go again!

Memories Grand Bahama: Wonderful resort.

This was our second trip to Coba in the same year and will go again for sure. Excellent food with lots of choices, clean and large rooms, plenty of pools, great entertainment and friendly helpful staff.

Memories Grand Bahama: Great price and good service

This is a very nice, clean, smaller resort on Grand Bahama Island. Location in Lucaya is across the street from the Lucaya Marketplace with excellent shops and restaurants for off-resort dining. Everything you want is right there. Our room was small, but kept immaculate each day. The staff were over-the-top friendly and did their best to make everyone's stay enjoyable. The buffet food is very good, but the shining stars for dining are the Japanese Teppanyaki/Suishi bar and the steak house restau [... read more]rants. Both are well worth the wait to get in. The beach side dining is good for lunches and quick snacks. Well worth your money to try this newly renovated property. The beach is beautiful and we walked the entire length three times to relax and get our toes in that powdery soft pink sand.

Sandals Royal Bahamian: Dated

Too expensive for what it was. I liked couples resorts better. Entire grounds were well maintained but dated. Was likely amazing back in the 80s. Staff nice, but food was weak. No traditional food. Only americanized stuff for the most part.

The Royal at Atlantis: Simply the best place ever!!

I really enjoyed my stay.. In my opinion each tower is clean and the staff are wonderful.. I stayed at the beach tower and i loved it.. I am planning another trip in October and will probably stay there again. Just simply a wonderful resort.

Warwick Paradise Island: paradise island harbour resort

It was awesome, food at bar was the best I ever had at a bar in any resort I have visited.close to casino and shopping .safe .I felt very safe walking at night. .this resort is small but clean .staff was excellent. The welcome was to die for.

Warwick Paradise Island: Good for the price, definitely a nice little resor

The food was great! Not one complaint at all. Our room was not the greatest, definitely needs to be updated. (which I believe they are doing now). Pool area was great, the best part I'd say. The beach was good for small children but that's about it. The housekeeping was very friendly and the poolside entertainment was good. This resort does not offer alot of extras (snorkeling, kids club) but was our first resort and for the price we paid was good. It is located close to Atlantis which was great [... read more], and only a 5 minute walk to ferry which will take you over to Nassau. Over all as a couple we had a really nice time, even with the rooms not being the greatest.

Melia Nassau Beach Resort: Nice resort!

Enjoyed our stay at Melia. Disappointed that our flight was delayed over 2 hrs and we didn't get to Bahamas till after 1200 am. No taxis were around and had to get a transfer from one of the buses . We did not get all inclusive when booking our trip. When we did get to Melia we had to wait over 2 hrs in line to be checked in and then when we got our room we noticed in the bathroom there were lots of tiny little ant like bugs. I could not handle bugs crawling around my feet. Went to the front des [... read more]k and they were good about giving us the room next to it. No bugs thank goodness! Our room was nice , but we would of liked patio furniture or chairs on the balcony. The resort was beautiful, and the beach was spectacular..... We loved it. Food can be pricey.. Lots of restaurants though around the resort. Such as the fish fry. which we really liked. Buses are great and reasonable. Taxis were expensive. Just be prepared to pay. Overall we really enjoyed the stay!

Breezes Bahamas: Terrible Experience at Breezes

We were looking forward to a 4 day getaway. What we endured was far from ANY possible definition of acceptable. After only hours, we attempted to find other accommodations~ but we were not successful. We are familiar with other Caribbean resorts-and this was the worst ever. From the moment we entered the doors of the Breezes facility, we were overwhelmed at the filth of the hotel and the overwhelming moldy odour. Floors were dirty, and a grimy film seemed to envelope the walls and the outdated f [... read more]urniture- with the furniture actually feeling sticky to the touch. We ventured out to the pool area where the filthy conditions continued. The pool was literally empty- except for the sea gulls--and it is no wonder. Although we arrived early morning, the pool, which seemed in disrepair as it was missing tiles, was not clean. Bacteria foam was gathering at the side of the pool and a dense oil slick covered the surface. The beach area was passable~ with seaweed and seagulls being an issue. The “Entertainment Staff" was poor, as they entertained non-banded “friends”- all day long as they sat on picnic tables ignoring the guests. Initially, our room was visually acceptable. We were momentarily relieved that we could retreat to our room, until we realized that a moldy odor was prevalent- with mold visible in many areas- including walls, vents, closets and the blackened clothesline string in the bathroom. We had anticipated the dampness caused by humidity and air conditioning- but the mold was a major concern.Food was fair at best. We tried the fare at the “specialty” restaurants with no better experience. We should have realized that the dining experience would be a negative one- as once again- the restaurants were empty. We drank very little, as again, the island drink dispensers didn't appear to be clean and were often covered in insects. Entertainment was sadly lacking. Even the promised music poolside was missing and the evening entertainment was terrible. The advertised activities associated with Breezes were unavailable. We wanted to snorkel; however, we were told people stole the equipment- so it wasn’t available. Of course, there was someone willing to sell equipment to us. The final insult arrived the last day. Not given the opportunity to have our luggage secured in a holding area, we opted for a “holding room” (Room 215) at additional expense to ourselves. This room was beyond belief-the stench of bleach and mold was overpowering and it was filthy. I should mention that the check in staff, cleaning staff and some security staff were very friendly and pleasant- but they are the only positive thing I can say about this vacation. Spend the extra and go to Atlantis!! We were so relieved when our airport shuttle arrived !!

Memories Grand Bahama: Fantastic Resort

I was very pleased from the booking of the flights , trip central very accommodating . once we arrived at the hotel the staff was very friendly and took good care of us . We had some issues with our room but amazingly we were catered to , look forward to traveling in the future with Trip central and definitely will be back to the Bahamas. Thank you Trip Central, Troy

Grand Lucayan Breakers Cay: Great all inclusive resort!

Our family really had a great visit at this resort (early Jan, 2014). It was our 1st time in the Bahamas so we weren't sure what to expect. We went on an all inclusive package which I would strongly recommend as food and drink is quite expensive if you are on an accommodation package only. For whatever reason when we arrived the volume at the resort was not high so the hotel voluntary upgraded our accommodation to one of the Lanai Suites. Having previously stayed in several Cuban and Mexican res [... read more]orts we can say that these were easily the nicest hotel or resort rooms we've ever stayed at on a package vacation - two spacious and beautiful jointed rooms, two baths, two TVs, chairs, safe, vanity areas, a/c, etc and best of all a sliding patio door that opened to our own little beach front patio with the ocean steps beyond and the sound of waves to lull us to sleep. There are plenty of tours and trips to go on. The beach sand is clean and of excellent castle building quality for the kids. A car rental is a good idea and is a great way to get around the island and visit the sites such as the Lucayan National Park and Dead Man's Reef were the snorkeling is simply out of this world! The food at the hotel's various restaurants was always excellent, and we always found the staff and the islands people in general to be very friendly and helpful. We have great memories of the place and hope to return some time in the future. All in all we were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our trip to the Bahamas (despite dodgy weather at the time) and this we would say in great part is because of the resort itself. Note: we did not stay in the main hotel building so we can't comment on the accommodation there directly - but all of our review regarding the resort, staff, food and activities is still relevant. Highly recommended by this Canadian family.
