Paradisus Rio De Oro: Amazing resort!

This hotel is beautiful with his mature foliage, the service is excellent, friendly, courteous and the food is of high quality. Due to covid the resort was about 25% full. We are considering returning for a third time.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Beautiful resort.

Stayed at this resort for 3 weeks. Very clean. Continually sanitizing. Beautiful grounds, pool and beach. We thought the food was great. The staff was amazing. Guest services was so helpful. Katia our housekeeper was the very best. Was a pleasure to see Lisandra and Yusanvni.(Sorry about spelling.) as our severs in the buffet, so welcoming everyday. Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beyond our expectations

We upgraded to the Royal Service and it was the best thing we have ever done. The service, food, drinks and attention to covid protocols were fantastic. Beach and Pools were relaxing and clean Our travel times were long, 11 hours going and 12 hours coming back so nervous flyers would not due well to travel during covid. Paradisus Rio De Oro: Healing Holiday

The management and staff at PRDO were so kind,attentive and cheerful during my stay from January 3-26, 2022. Our bungalow was so peaceful with beautiful views of the palm trees and distant mountains. I loved being able to watch the night sky from the outdoor shower. I enjoyed my daily walks on the grounds amongst the colourful flowers, banana and mango trees to the cool shady botanical garden. Beach walks and swimming/snorkeling in the beautiful emerald green waters was so therapeutic. Food was [... read more] plentiful and fresh, my favourites being the cappuccinos, papaya, fresh grilled fish of the day, shrimp salad, thin crust pizza, custom pasta and the deserts! I came here with a heavy heart after the recent loss of my son. My stay here did so much to improve my well being. We will definitely be back!!!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Lovely place

Spacious rooms, well landscaped grounds, 2 pools, white sand beach. Great restaurant, and 3 a la carte serving good food. 5 bars well stocked, friendly staff all around. Generally quiet, except around main pool and stage area where loud music and people congregate, mainly local visitors. Coffee alas was substandard. Warm brown water with watery milk. Bring your own. Nevertheless, we are going back there again soon, for the colors, gardens, beach and sunny skies.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Wonderful Resort

This resort in Holguin was great. The food was amazing. I know a lot of people complain about the food in Cuba but this resort was great. The staff are wonderful and friendly. I cannot say enough. The rooms were wonderful and very clean The resort itself was amazing. I will definitely go back

This hotel is amazing please. It is true paradise. It’s quite and full off beautiful gardens. Service is definitely 5 stars. I don’t understand when people say in Cuba there is no good food . I guess you are going to cheep wrong hotels because this one has fantastic food and world chef. We stay in Royal section but the also the regular part is amazing.

This resort is pretty new. They just opened about 2 and half months. I just love the smell of new places, new towels, new beddings etc…There is only one main buffet and 3 a la cart restaurants, one snack bar opens 24 hours by the beach. The food are not too bad. Not too much shows to watch but they do have nightly entertainment such as a band and a singer at the lobby. There’s a big night club in the lobby area. Also a bar on the 7th floor which is not included in the all inclusive package. You have to pay for the drinks there and a pool table. If you pay by peso it’s cheaper than USD. There is an exclusive adult only side of the hotel which is probably premium paid. Over all it’s a nice resort, the beach is beautiful with clear water and white sand. Pools are nice. Hot tub is not hot or not even warm. Weather is not too hot in January around 25-28 degree celsius during the day but windy and rainy and could get cooler in the evening so a light sweater is recommended.

Playa Costa Verde: Good amenities, but apparently COVID is causing problems

The room is good, the maid service is excellent. The beach is a dream for small children, since it is on the lee side and the sea is very calm. The pools are nice, almost all the amenities one would need are there. The entertainment is also good, corresponding to a 4-star resort. There is not always hot water. The bad news - apparently the resort was suffering severe supply problems, since the food was pretty poor. Until the 5th day (the 1st of January) meat, fish and seafood were nowhere to be [... read more] seen, except chicken wings and once canned seafood. And everything was tasteless. Due to COVID the guests have to wait for teh personnel to put the food in their plates and this is a huge inconvenience. Hopefully this will be gone soon. The Italian restaurant was excellent, the others were pretty good too. On the 1st of January the things changed radically and everything went back to normal with the food, as I knew it. Meat, fish and seafood, reappeared in the buffet restaurant, the taste in the food too. Must say that the personnel is trying their best in the difficult situation. Example - there is "only one computer" at the reception and when a big group arrives, one should forget about getting help there. What were we missing and what could be better: - no tea - a big minus for me personally - no kettle available to have in the room - for a family with a toddler this is a must - no flexibility for a late check-out - we had to wait until 10 a.m on the day of our departure to find out whether we can keep the room for a few more hours - not enough street lighting around the resort

Playa Costa Verde: Second time at this hotel

All workers wore masks at all times. Everything keep clean and workers went out of there way to make the trip a happy vacation. There was plenty of food so there was no way you would go hungry. Music a bit louder than I would like around the pool, but again I am an older person and the younger generation enjoy it. Playa Costa Verde: Mixed feelings

Return Visit  Dec5 8 to Dec 29 - 3 weeks    Unfortunately this visit was very disappointing unlike our previous one. Our first week was good but as we got closer to Christmas there was a notable change in food quantity, quality and an increase of people with bad manners.  We were the minority these three weeks with Locals representing over 95% of the guests.  Sorry but using the excuse that Canadians don't understand the cultural differences does not justify the bad manners we encoun [... read more]tered. We tipped in CUP and Canadian, they can use CUP to purchase many items and tipping in Pesos will spread your tips amoung many.  We were able to pay in Canadian for drinks at the Airport.  You need a credit card to pay for your Covid return test and purchases in the stores,  so we used Canadian, CUP, Visa and U.S. funds. The maid was tipped in Canadian at the end of each week, she was great and we only had two problems with the room, the safe and a light which were fixed promptly. Tourists and locals need to respect staff by wearing your mask when approaching staff along with approaching fellow tourists and when walking in common areas.  We saw families of up to 14 come in for day passes and overnight stays not wearing masks so not surprisingly now seeing their Covid numbers increasing dramatically.  The staff were great, no complaints there, however we probably won't be returning as we didnt  enjoy the nightly crap show at the buffet with rude people constantly butting in, hoarding plates of food and touching the food with their hands.  We had people yelling in the corridor and drunks banging on our door every night at 2 am along with locals peeing in front of the table we were eating at while at the snack bar.  There were a few food and beverage shortages that occurred usually after the weekend visits by the locals. No condiments or salt and pepper to be found. We are not new to Cuba having been there over 70 times over the past 15 years.  I have to say this was the most disappointing trip so far.  The hotel was equivalent to a 2 star for food during our visit, the excellent service just couldn't make up for everything else.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Amazing Staff

We stayed at Coral Level at Iberostar Selection Holguin for two weeks in December. Everything was perfect. - The rooms are modern, spacious, and very clean, with comfortable beds, a large bathroom, and very good AC. - The Coral restaurant serves great food, with a set menu, which for dinners includes fish, lobster, fillet, and chicken, served with very good wines. A great selection of drinks at the bar. - The Coral Level has a fairly large, very clean swimming pool with a bar. - But what set [... read more]s the Coral Level apart from all the other resorts that we have visited in Cuba and elsewhere, is the staff. They are simply fantastic. From the butlers to the restaurant staff and countless others including the cleaning staff, life guards, and gardeners all work super hard to serve the guests. Please tip generously not to get a better service but because these wonderful people really deserve it.

Playa Pesquero: A great place to get away!

If you like the water (ocean) and you enjoy spending the day on/around the beach this is the place! Great snorkeling right at the resort. Food is typical, however Caletones (seafood), Romantico and the Trattoria were great. Pub face at La Pipa (beer garden) was good. The people are amazing. FYI, no more CUC, so take as many Can $5 bills for tipping as you think you might require. We felt extremely safe and look forward to going back!

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Go somewhere else !!!

Terrible experience !!!! 7 days a week, I ate pasta . Other options are really not good !! And , I was wait 20-30 minutes just for pasta . Local people always coming to beach. No privacy!!! Food : Terrible 😣 Room: good 😌 Desert and fruit are not good 👎

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Very Beautiful Hotel but No

This hotel is amazing, staff is amazing food was okay, drinks were disappointing. My complaint is that it was 80 to 85% Cuban guests and as much as I love the Cuban people, when there is a lot of alcohol consumed, they get loud and rude. I was served after many Cubans even if I was first. I would not return for this reason. I paid top dollar for a five star hotel and expect to be with others who have done the same.

Brisas Covarrubias: My perfect escape

Absolutely my perfect and preferred little escape, my first trip was 2005 and I’ve been there many of times and it’s now 2021 and my feelings is still very much the same, I love the fabulousness of friendship build through out the many years and very special with friendliness , future plans I am extremely excited to book another visit ❤️❤️❤️

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great staff!

The amenities on the resort were great from the volleyball courts, snorkelling, and paddle boats. A beautifully maintained beach, and pool area is where we spent most of our time. The food was really good for Cuba, never found ourselves going hungry. The best part was the staff they really went out of their way for us whenever they could and it truly made it the best stay possible! However, until all of the covid restrictions are lifted I will not be returning to Cuba, the PCR test you take on [... read more] the resort was very sketchy and they just give you a hand written note on a paper saying negative signed by a doctor. One of our friends tested “positive” and they wouldn’t retest her and wouldn’t let her partner stay in the hotel with her - they take you to a hotel in the city with no hot water where they try to sell you “medicine” so that you retest negative. They told her because they already swabbed her nose if they retested her it would come back negative because they removed all the bacteria - they stopped harassing her to buy medicine once the embassy was involved, the embassy retested her and she tested negative showing it was all just a money grab on the Cuban government’s part. Obviously this wasn’t the hotels fault tho, just beware when travelling to Cuba.

Playa Costa Verde: Fabulous trip!

Excellent vacation! We stayed at Playa Costa Verde from Tuesday December 7 - Tuesday December 14, 2021. Checkin was fast and reception staff were very professional and helpful during checkin and throughout our stay. Rooms (although a little dated) were clean, air conditioning worked great, lots and a variety of TV channels, great water pressure (hot and cold) and wonderful housekeeping staff. If you can't find something to eat at the buffet I would say it is a YOU problem. Desserts and ice cream to die for. Amazing cappuccinos and service at lobby bar. Snack bar food was good; service a little slower. All waiters, waitresses, bartenders, gardeners, security, etc. were friendly, attentive and professional. The beach is gorgeous and great for snorkeling. We did not take nor needed watershoes and just walked around coral on sandy bottom. COVID-19 test was non evasive and doctors, etc. very compassionate and professional. No shortages at resorts (food, water, staff, food, etc). No coffee makers or kettles in rooms so pack your own if that is important to you. Beach towels in room when we arrived (standard room) with mini bar filled daily with water and soda (no beer). Free wifi and could get it everywhere on resort. Excellent nightly entertainment. Japanese (entertaining and great dinner) and Cuban (beef was tender and tasty) a la cartes were very good with attentative staff. Resort was about half capacity during week a bit busier on weekends with locals and all had a great time. Pool was clean and entertainment engaging but not in your face. A family oriented resort but young couples around having fun and all visitors respectful of each other. Our Sunwing representatives were helpful with any of our questions. We tipped with small Canadian bills. Excursions and lobby store all using VISA card. Market took Canadian money as did off site restaurants and taxis. We did not change any Canadian money into national pesos as not needed. Covid protocols followed by guests and staff and we felt safe all week. Handsoap and sanitizer readily available throughout resort. We had a fabulous time at Playa Costa Verde and would go back in a heartbeat. We have been to Cuba over fifteen times (seven times to Holguin) and this resort is among the best of our favorites (Brisas Guardalavaca, Iberostar Holguin and Sol Luna y Mares) in Holguin. Get off the resort, see the real Cuba, meet the locals, go to one of the local fabulous restaurants, stay healthy, happy and safe!!!

because were a few people in resort everything regarding services were smooth ...but till resort you have to endure cuban incompetence during crossing the border ( don't blame them ...they don't know better, is the system) food is edible - many canadians enjoy it but i think is inadmissible for a resort named IBEROSTAR to not have in a restaurant : vinegar, onion, bell peppers, spices , lemon, diversity of fruits ...list is long but i stop to what is obvious a la carte restaurants have same k [... read more]ind of food or almost ...is only the name : a la carte ! poorly food but u can check the meniu by a QR code ! childish for what food they offer but again everyone is different and some of canadians enjoy many locals have access to the resort ...this time i didn't see kingpins of cuban black market ... departure was the same time and nerves consuming like arrival

Playa Pesquero: Excellent resort

Very clean food was great always variety 4 a la cart restaurants pool was always clean very large plus clean Jacuzzis 4 in fact 👌 would love to return 😀 separate restaurants for 24 hour pizza ice cream beer served draft or bottle or can amazing 👏 coffe bar excellent cappuccinos and any other coffees 24 hours great weather bech restaurant fish or pasta 3 bars on the beach anything your heart desires is there 😀 😉 😄
