Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: Great staff
We found the grounds and pool well kept. The staff take pride in all they do. The restaurant staff efficient and friendly. The rooms basic but suit the purpose. The walk to each beach short and simple. The only annoying fact the smoking policy lets people some in pool and all around the pool. The large ash trays can be found right out side the restaurant which is just not acceptable when trying to eat. The smoking was very bothersome as I have asthma and did not realize before booking at this re[... read more]sort. If they had a smoking area away from pool and restaurant I would stay again. Do to the small size I’d only ever do a week as the food never changes. Location was fine.

Sunscape Puerto Vallarta: Great location
Hotel is very old, and is showing its age. That being said the staff and location are amazing. Food was just okay, lack of air conditioning in the food areas, even indoor venues made dining a bit uncomfortable. Rooms were also showing their age and again air conditioning was not great.

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Classy Resort with Exceptional Staff
Iberostar Selection Playa Mita is a great value for a super clean, classy resort with good food and exceptional staff. We were impressed with the incredible service levels, professionalism, and friendliness of the staff in all areas of the resort. Guests needs are tended to with a smile, and the resort and rooms are impeccably maintained by the maids and cleaning staff. Entertainment team was fun and worked very hard. Bar and pool service was great. Buffet and ala cartes were good. We especiall[... read more]y enjoyed the cute little coffee shop for cappuccinos and frappes. We also enjoyed spectacular sunsets with a cocktail every night.
It was a great vacation! We would highly recommend this resort.
Thank you to Taylor Curtis at Tripcentral with her assistance in booking our vacation.

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: A great weeks stay!
Grounds, pools and area were fantastic.
The coffee shop two doors down from our 41118 swim up room was perfect. I suspect that 41117 would be a nicer swim up room as it is isolated in the corner and gets great shade.. drawback being the loud noises from the cafe next door.
Food options were somewhat limited compared to other resorts and some (Japanese) are only open certain days. All but the Japanese need no reservations at all.The food itself was excellent and Elena at the omelette statio[... read more]n was a superstar. Do watch some of the restaurants as some will forbid those with plastic flip flops.
We only did the infinity pool with the swimup bar as we had our own pool.It was nice to hang over the edge and look at the ocean.
For those who shop there is a OXXO right outside the front resort entrance and also a pharmacy. There is also a Mega shopping store nearby (groceries) and 10 minutes towards Puerto Vallarta there is a huge walmart.
My only complaint is that no matter how busy the resort was, or on some days was not, there were NEVER enough staff and they all worked extra hard and had to run around.

Riu Flamingos: Not that great
The rooms are okay although we tried on three different occasions to get our safe unlocked (it was not able to be used from the get go) and never managed to get them to come to the room to fix it so we never had the use of the safe. We went with a party of 8 age ranges from 17 to 80.
The very worst part was the pool although it says there's a kids pool don't be fooled both the pools are kids pools and there are a LOT of kids there in the pool with soggy diapers on, jumping and splashing when[... read more] you're just trying to relax. There's more kids at the swim up bar than adults and it's very hard to get up there to get a drink. There is no poolside drink service. The pool also feels gritty on the bottom and if you swim through the water you get hair caught in your fingers. The kids are everywhere when you try to have an adult game of volleyball the kids are swimming between your legs and all over the place. The food at the resort is pretty good especially the Italian restaurant, at the steak house don't order the top sirloin it's really tough but the food was good and it's nice not to have to make reservations. Most of the staff are not that friendly unless you jiggle your boobs in their face then it seems to be effective from what I saw.
Overall I would definitely pass on this resort, I've stayed at other RIU properties and this one is by far the worst.

Las Palmas by the Sea: An amazingly down to earth all inclusive resort
Me and my friends stayed here last year and loved the down to earth style of Las Palmas by the Sea that we stayed here again this year. Unlike the overly sanitized atmosphere of other resorts, this one is nice and intimate to a point where all the workers get to know us personally by our first name as well as our individually desired favorite specialty drinks and special snacks. Their bar as well as main eating area and formal dinner restaurant is right at the beach so you can see and hear the [... read more]waves crashing in at all times...amazingly special. Grand Palladium Vallarta: We'll be back... :)
This was our first visit to GP Vallarta and we want to return there again :)
Food - great, tasty, fresh, wide selection. Burgers on the beach for lunch or dinner at El Dorado - everything was awesome. Mexican restaurant was our top pick. Compliments to the chef and the team of servers. Very nice and relaxing atmosphere. Kevin "Costner" is awesome :) Buffet - 10 out of 10! The lady making pizzas is fantastic cook. I can go on and on about it but you must try it yourself :)
Service - dinner, [... read more]lunch, breakfast or wedding on the beach - Nelida is there to help out anyone. Antonio at the buffet will go an extra mile to provide the best service and make you a little rose. Antonio at the pool bar is the true leader and awesome bartender. Gracias to Mary for keeping our room nice an clean. Accommodation porter (don't know his name) was such a great guy. Always with a smile and a song :)
Night shows - amazing, those dancers must have endless pool of energy. But the true STAR is Yesica! Service with the smile every night! :)
Activities - non stop action. There's so much to do for everyone. Spa, pools, bar's, beach, tennis, football etc. There's always something happening and everyone is welcome to join in. Try archery with Ali. And follow his instructions :)
One last reminder. When packing your sunscreen and swimsuits - don't forget to bring some respect with you. Front desk, service staff, guy blowing leaves or a lady mopping walkways - everyone is working hard to make your stay as pleasant as possible and they deserve utmost respect.

Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Beautiful resort
This is a wonderful resort for couples or families. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable.
The food was average in the buffet, not a bad breakfast and lunch selection. We ate at 2 of the 3 Ala Carte restaurants, the Italian and Japanese we definitely would recommend trying them. The resort was well kept, the beach was beautiful. Lots of lounge chairs on the beach and by the pool. The rooms are average nothing special but they are clean.

Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta: Clean and fun resort!
We just returned from a 7 day vacation at this hotel. Oct 29 - Nov 5. I really loved the property and the location. Rooms and resort was VERY clean. Music playing in lobby and around resort was really good! Just wished there was a "quieter" pool for guest to sit at and read a book with music that isn't so loud. The food and drinks overall were excellent. The staff were all very friendly which was really good to see. A few special employees that went out of their way to make our vacation [... read more]better;
1)Miguel in the sun bar - just friendly and a good bartender. Always a smile and willing to help!
2)Luis (I think is his name) in the Zen restaurant. He was working the sushi kitchen in front and he brought us some "special" off the menu items. THEY WERE AMAZING!! HE needs to get those ideas on the menu!!
3) Magic Dee around the pool was friendly asking how the day was going, he came and cleaned my sunglasses too! We had good conversation with him!
The turtles are hatching like crazy right now so right in front of the hotel you could watch this amazing birth!!!
The elevators a FAST and efficient!
The entertainment staff always had fun things going on during the day at the pool.
The front bell staff getting luggage out of the taxis and assisting you with getting a taxi were all friendly and efficient.
The only small thing I was irritated about was that other guests were ``member's`` We had no idea what this was about or how to get this membership. Many guests explained that they were able to enjoy the resort for $1200 a couple. We had paid $4000 a couple and were unsure as to why and how there could be such a difference. In addition, when I booked with Trip Central I choose a higher category room but felt the room was plain (clean) and we had 2 queen beds that they pushed together........ we were unable to understand the upgrade and cost to value on this resort.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: okay resort
Grounds are very nice, beautiful beach, pools are great, no bar in pools. rooms basic, but clean. food not so good, ala cartes are average, limited menu. drinks are average. nice area, amazing massages just outside gate of resort, there is a small massage place, wow, 250 pecos WORTH EVERY PENNY. If your looking for luxury, not the place. But we paid $1000 canadian each, so for that price we cannot complain

This resort is great as all is close the beach is amazing ! The bar often ran out of baileys and gin and would not have more till the next day a bummer to rush to get some while it’s left :( the big disappointment was the food and the a la cart for the same money I have had much better the staff was nice but very pushy to get tips example they will look and touch move the tip basket give you your drink and look and move it again as if to say I want a tip on every drink and when you do if it’[... read more]s not enough they make you feel it’s not enough with the look on there face we are not cheap but when I give 20 pesos 1.40$ CAN and get the disappointment look I stopped tipping all together at that point I was insulted but over all it was ok for the money but I would have paid 200$ more for a better selection of food no steaks only steak was a flank steak it was good but not the best and you can only book your a la carts 2 days at a time the problem is it a cattle call to book at 8 am as get ready to wait in line for 45 min in the hot sun to try and hope to get what you want was not well set other resorts have a concierge at every building for this so no wait at this resort 2 people for 5 or 6 buildings all in all was good but with not much change in the food this place could be amazing I don’t think I will go back unless there is a change pics we looked at show nice steak and sea food the waiter said they stoped that I guess to save money so I was disappointed you will not get the great food you see in review pics keep that in mind if you don’t care for the food and it’s not important to you you will love this place I am not trying to dog this place at all but there is room for much improvement when looking at place the same price I was a flight attendant so have seen many places to understand what I was getting/ entertainment was great very nice shows

Riu Flamingos: A Mixed Review - But Do Bring Earplugs!
Pros:
Room was a good size with high ceilings
Plenty of drawer space
Separate toilet and shower
Great wifi in room and all over the property
Nice view from balcony
Bar in room with gin, tequila, rum and vodka and mixes - plenty of bottled water
Clean room, fabulous housekeeping staff and towel animals!
Great air conditioning and working ceiling fan
Very nicely kept landscaping and fountains
Food above expectations - wait staff were very professional and courteous
Cons:
Two single[... read more] beds pushed together is not a Queen or King room
Mattresses and pillows badly in need of replacement, holes in towels
Hot water iffy, shower slow to drain
Partying guests very loud late at night in hallways - echo makes it louder
Pool overcrowded - no separate kid's pool (and there were LOTS and LOTS of small children). Pool was not the cleanest.
Some children were permitted to handle buffet food with their hands
Animation crew tried hard during the day, but evening entertainment was poorly programmed and executed
The reason we would probably not return to this property is the number of guests on our floor who arrived as a group and chose to put their little ones to bed in the rooms and party in the corridors till 2 or 3 am most nights. It was loud and obnoxious. We did not want to deal with blowback from these guests by complaining, so our sleep and enjoyment of our room was poor. We were not the only guests in the hotel to experience this. The Riu Jalisco management should have Security walk the corridors throughout the night and stop guests from partying in the hallways.

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Outstanding family resort !
My wife and I celebrated our 65 birthdays by spend 8 days with our sons and their families (10 of us with the g/kids ranging in age from 3 to 16) at this resort........perfectly suited for a family vacation. From the excellent choice in restaurants, the kids camp, the quality of food, the various activities(for all ages) the nightly shows to the choice of entertainment and the level of service the entire family rated this resort as a 10. The rooms were nicely laid out and very clean.......in fa[... read more]ct the entire property was immaculate and well taken care of. Service from check in, at the restaurants , by the pool or on the beach to maid service was superb. The staff were all extremely polite, fun and very caring....... Jesus & Myra at the beach roof top bar went out of their way to ensure for my second visit there was a bottle of Jack Daniel's behind the bar. Johnny, Pepe and all the event staff did an excellent job and appeared to be always having fun
A couple of recommendations would include a new location for the beach volleyball (too many pebbles) and the need to keep birds away from the pool area ( especially by the umbrellas & lounges near the restaurants)

Grand Palladium Vallarta: Great time!
The hotel was beautiful. All areas were kept very clean. We stayed in a deluxe room with 2 adults and a 6 year old. There were a lot of stairs as the resort is on a cliff but I believe they also had ramp access to most areas. I definitely got my steps in.
The bars were good. Sometimes you had to wait a bit for a drink, just depended how busy they were. I wished I had brought an insulated bigger cup and would next time. The cups are small in the pool area and seem to be a magnet for a 6 year [... read more]old splashing pool water.
The pools were great, well maintained, got quite busy mid day. Our son liked the kids area with water slides. The adult pool was quieter and was a nice break, also breathtaking as it is an infinity pool over the ocean .
Our son loved the kids club. So that was a bonus in giving us, the parents a break.
The buffet was really good I thought and we ate there the whole time.
My only negatives would be I wish the bed and pillows were more comfy- that is the minor one.
My major issue was access to bottled water. I drink a lot of water and my body is used to that. In our mini bar we would get 4-6 600ml bottles of water each day. That is for 3 people. I found myself strategizing to get enough, drinking as much as I could at meal times. Likely my downfall was drinking alcohol at the pool all afternoon then being very thirsty once back in my room. You can order water at all the bars but it is usually a bit of a wait and the little cups again. We tried to tip and request extra water bottles, but didn’t seem to get far with our limited Spanish. If we return, I would actually check a bag on the plane with just water bottles. But as I said I drink a lot of water and this likely wouldn’t be an issue for everyone
Oh yeah, and the lattes in the Hemingway bar in the morning are delicious!
