Grand Memories Holguin: It is worth it to go there, but fight for your AC.

2025 May 10-24. WestJet flight. Tightness at its worst. Transfer to the hotel took almost 2 hours. Weather was sunny, but strong East wind blew almost all the time. 22/30C growed to 24/32C. It is a new big hotel and many things are done in the best contemporary way. Five floors, but elevators. Galleries and widely open stairwells. Shadows and draft winds make it cooler. But my favorites were doors and windows with excellent soundproofing. They withstand the hellish noise of usual "entertain [... read more]ment". There are three huge pools between building's wings. And one of them is always quiet. Bedding is good. Rooms are clean. Unfortunately, the AC system is horrible. I changed rooms because of that. It poisoned my visit. Water, electricity, TV and the internet were just normal, like everywhere in the world. No usual Cuban exotic, except AC of course. Staff is managed properly. They work as they have to. But a good thank-you will never hurt. Food was good enough. And restaurant-buffet is very roomy with a lot of tables. I am mostly interested in the beach. It is a good sandy beach with enough shadows from trees and umbrellas. Water was clean and warm. 400 meters away from the beach you can reach a pretty rich coral reef. Most corrals are dead like everywhere, but there are many new ones. The surrounding area is a bush with small secondary roads and wild sandy beaches. It is worth it to go there, but fight for your AC.

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Really needs fixed up.

Resort in need of LOTS of maintenance. Rodents in rooms, broken plumbing everywhere. Safe in my room didn't work (which I reported twice). Towels in rooms never laundered. Dont know if understaffed, but nothing really got fixed in the week I stayed. Food was meh, so was the booze. The simplest cocktails only. Not even a Mojito some days. The pool was nice when clean. Beach was pretty.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Back again

This was trip #6 for us to this resort and we are already thinking about our next one. Need to request a room with a bathtub. It's great when the pool is right outside your balcony. Great lobster dinner.

Blau Varadero: Blau Veradero

I love Blau in Varadero. The resort is absolutely beautiful. I love the hanging plants in the lobby. The beach is absolutely stellar. The people are wonderful. I do believe that Blau in Varadero is going to be my new vacation destination going forward. I’m already planning a return.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Extremely neglected resort

Room clean but bed sheets not changed every day beach towel are so dirty. Food so poor one day even breads runouts . All in all good location but grass and plants are drying need attention , some hotel staff’s are not polite and friendly also expect something from you, coffee mostly cold . Generally new building but again not managed hotel needs good service.

Melia Costa Rey: Melia Costa Rey Vacation May 10-24, 2025

The hotel was great. Nice bedroom grounds were well taken care of. The ala cartes were excellent. The only concern i had was that the elevator was broken. For those that have mobility issues this would be a concern. The entertainment team during the day were great, as was the shows at night. Meals at the buffet were good. Seafood from mussels, clams, shrimp and fish were excellent. As well as the meat pork, chicken were also good. There was always something to eat.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Good resort

We were put in a premium room in building 2 I believe, room was right at the end closest to the 24hr snack bar. Room was nice, king bed was very comfortable. Cleaning staff were very good. Food at the buffet was decent. Had eggs and bacon 5 out of 7 days. Bread and pastries ran out frequently. Didn’t offer a huge amount of variety but always found something to eat. 24 hr snack bar ran out of buns/bread and French fries frequently. The pizza station would be “sold out” within a 1/2 hr of opening. [... read more] Alcohol was hit or miss all around the resort. Rum was plentiful. A la cart restaurants were ok but seemed like the same stuff at the buffet. The exception was the Asian restaurant Nagano, which was quite good. The pool area was really good, newer shaded cabana beds all around. The beach was fantastic although getting into the water was painful, lots of shells and old coral for the first 5 feet or so then soft white sand. No good snorkelling close to shore. No-see-ums were minimal as well as mosquitoes. The staff were very friendly and seemed happy.

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing vacation!

We were many times in Cuba, and Cayo Coco particularly, but it was our first visit to this resort and certainly not the last! Our vacation was amazing! Every moments of this trip was perfect! The site is beautiful and the beach is stunning. All the staff was incredibly welcoming, smiling and helpful. The rooms are very clean, and had everything we needed; the beds are comfortable and the air conditioning silent and functional. The food at the buffet is delicious & plentiful. Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful resort

The resort is quite small which I like it. The services from butler’s, restaurants, bars, room attendants and beach personnel are amazing. They will do as much as they can to provide you and exceptional service.

Melia Internacional: Great Resort!

Great service, very friendly staff, place is amazing. we have enjoyed our stay in the resort, lovely people, great weather and many activities every day on the beach and in the evening as we have many entertainment stations in the hotel between singing, dancing and lots more. Love this place.

Sol Palmeras: Amazing Resort and Vacation!

We had an amazing vacation at Sol Palmaras. From the moment we arrived to when we checked out this hotel exceeded all our expectations. The hotel is gorgeous and the entire complex is kept clean by hardworking staff. We had an updated room and it was great, very clean and well decorated. And had 110v plugs so we didn’t need to use our adapters. We are pool people so we spend most of our time there, there was lots of loungers and shade around the pool. The service was amazing, the staff is friendly and helpful and they always greeted us with a smile. The food was all around probably the best we’ve had in Cuba, a lot of choices in the buffet, we had no problem finding something to eat. We ate at 2 a la cartes (Chinese & Mexican) and they were both really good, so definitely try them if you go. Two things we recommend doing while there is visiting the city of Varadero and going on the excursion that takes you to 2 caves, the first one you get to explore an underground cave and the second is a swimming cave. We had such a good time on this excursion and will never forget it. We definitely recommend this resort and when we go back to Varadero we will be staying here.

Blau Varadero: Excellent resort

Rooms and all hotel facilities are clean. Service is excellent. I personally didn't had a problem with the food and drinks quality. Always found something I liked. The new Sunwing/Westjet flight was good as well. It was on time both ways, and service was good.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Amazing Resort

The facility is well kept and maintained even though it’s not high season the staff were consistent with the up keep. I love how they have both hot and cold water and no issue with adjusting the AC from hot to cold or vice versa. I would stay on the same room again I love how I’m in the corner. I also enjoyed my dining experience. Their buffet area is enclosed which is perfect from keeping the flies and stray cats out. The hostess, bar tender are all professional and courteous.

Melia Las Antillas: Melia Las Antillas

The Resort is older and it needs updating, the staff are all awesome and make the best with limited resources. The room was cleaned when required the maid was good at giving us what we needed. The pool was ok it could also use some updating. The Beach is why we came here it was amazing, easy to swim in soft white sand . The weather was 34c everyday and we had no rain.

The One Gallery Hotel: Beautiful Beach

We had a beautiful week of sunshine! My review will be based on our personal experience May 12-19th. Pros, Easy check in, nice rooms, food & drinks plentiful! The beach is absolutely beautiful! Our butler Roberto was very helpful, and reception was quick to solve any questions or problem, especially Beatrice. Cons, Public washrooms need better attention! Ridiculous line ups at lunch pizza station, some ordering 8 pizza's at a time. Same with morning egg station!...the problem was mostl [... read more]y with locals. The worst was the flies...so many flies in the lobby and food areas. Not sure if it was the time of year, but we've never seen anything like it..

Paradisus Los Cayos: I can’t wait to return! I miss the beach already

Can’t wait to go back! I had never gone to Cuba before I did not know what to expect. I wanted a beautiful beach. And knew the food would be ok. When we arrived we were upgraded and received concierge service. Our two concierges were amazing. Yasser and Ari. As they both were great. I found Ari exuded bright and positive energy. Made me feel I was part of her family. They make you feel welcome and show you around. I must say I have never had that good of sleep in a hotel before usually takes a couple days to adjust. That was not needed Staff: all were so friendly and helpful we did have our favourites but all were amazing AMAZING: beach , water, and amazing options shade and beach experiences. They had all kinds of toys to borrow if you wanted activity there was yoga and dance etc. if you wanted rest there were so many options. The property was huge since we went in may at times we felt we had the resort to ourselves because there were so many options people spread out. I was wowed by the beauty of the clear water and white sand. Water was warm. I could have stayed there forever. Like all things there are things can be improved Food: knew was going to be limited but breakfast was always great. Snack bar pizzas were our go to lunch. Dinner was hit and miss. Did not find buffet great. My favorite was the Japanese restaurant. Some things need some updating but overall the resort is beautiful and well maintained. Maybe have a couple more bathrooms open Bus ride: it was long almost 2 hours but the remote location and beach more than made up for it Tips: Money; if Canadian. If tip coins offer to change back to bills for them. They can’t exchange the coins at bank. Also bring extra bills as staff appreciates if you can change coins they have Snacks: bring snacks maybe some peanut butter or easy to eat stuff to offset any times you need a little more I would recommend this hotel on the beach alone. I will be going back. Already planned which rooms we would like better and where on resort we want to stay!

Melia Cayo Coco: Our favourite vacation!

We had an amazing vacation at the Melia Cayo Coco. The beach is the most beautiful we have ever been to, the rooms are well kept and clean, the food is very good and flavourful especially for Cuba, lots of selection, our favourite was the Italian a la carte, it was delicious. The drinks were also very good, lots of selection. We did not notice any shortages. The resort in general is very well maintained with many improvements/renovations. This was our 3rd visit to this resort and are already planning and looking forward to returning! Highly recommend.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Good place!!

It was my second visit there this year. The staff are really nice. The rooms are keeper cleaned and had no issues. We spent our time by the ocean. I have no problem walking, but went this time with an 80 year old. It’s a little far and washroom are also far for the elderly. Besides that, it’s a great place to visit.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Exceeded all expectations — I’ll be back!

We came with pretty much no expectations, just hoping for some sun and beach time — and ended up getting so much more. The beach is absolutely stunning: picture-perfect blue water and soft white sand. The food was great — not Michelin-star level, but genuinely tasty with a wide variety. There were always fresh salads, fruits, something grilled, and lots of options at every meal. Even with fewer guests, the team put on fun, creative shows every night — live music, games, mini disco, and great performances that ended with dancing. Way better than the usual recycled Michael Jackson shows I’ve seen at other Cuban resorts! Staff were warm, helpful, and made the stay even more enjoyable. I’ve been to other resorts in Cuba, but this one truly exceeded expectations. Highly recommend, and would happily return!

Brisas Guardalavaca: The place to relax

Brisas Guardalavacca A beach hotel where memories are made and friends remember you. They do their best Grounds are well kept. Food was good but lm not a hamburger and fries person I like a variety of meats, vegetables, and fruits. I was happy with the choices l had. I will go back because l feel comfortable there. Attitude is everything in life so with a positive and friendly attitude you will have a very enjoyable holiday there.
