Grand Memories Varadero: Very good resort
The rooms and grounds were perfect but the buffet had a few problems although the food was good. For example, no bowls for the soup or ice cream. Most of the problems were little ones that could have been easily fixed but enough to make a 5 star into a 4 star. But for what we paid, it was a great value.
Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: OK
Peoples are great, rooms very clean. My only negative points are; the buffet was to small, not enough choices (ex. only 1 fish, 1 chicken), and we couldn't sit in the lobby and get a Cappuccino before 8am. Beach was nice and clean.
Roc Arenas Doradas: Great value for your money
The hotel insider but well kept. The buildings, grounds and beach are clean. The service we received was excellent. I travelled with 6 young adults. One of which is a picky eater. She managed to find food she really liked. THe others loved the food. The entertainment was very good. We couldn't wait for the shows. All in all it was pleasant the hotel could use some upgrades but it was good.
Muthu Playa Varadero: Good Resort
Let me start by saying, your going to Cuba. If you expect the Ritz your going to be disappointed. The resort is laid out great, it's clean and the staff is friendly. The doors to the rooms have swelled and are hard to open but with the humidity you expect some malfunctions. The food was good for Cuba, I have had better in Cuba but I'm not too picky so I always found something to eat. The drink though, I was disappointed with them. They don't get creative at all, they make basic drinks and that i [... read more]
Barcelo Solymar: convenient locatiom
looking for a place to walk besides the beach. walked everyday downtown and back. front counter staff very helpful. food what can I say cuba food. stayed in bungalow very nicely located away from main hotel
Roc Arenas Doradas: Friendly staff
I recently traveled to roc arenas doradas with a lady I look after who is disabled, and they accomadated us at every turn.the grounds are quite lovely. I think it may be time for new mattresses, but otherwise one has to remember where they are going and that it isn't a 5* hotel! but the staff make it seem that way
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Resort-paradisus princess del mar
Some glitches for ourselves our room was wonderful, but my sister and her husbands room itself had , eg the a/c was not working plus there was no temperature control to regulate it. . Central control. The fridge was not cooling, light bulb missing from floor lamp. After several complaints they insisted they be moved to another room . The grounds are very well kept, it's very clean . There were inconsistencies in sticking of the rooms, you may get coffee but no filter or sugar. Food was very good [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Average Resort
It is definitely not a 5 star. When driving up to the hotel from the street, the outer appearance and well groomed grounds look impressive. Pools and public washrooms were well maintained. Rooms were not kept very clean, no attention to detail. Apart from breakfast, the rest of the food at the buffet was just ' slop '. Deserts were great. Entertainment was good. ' Wait staff ' were absolutely fantastic! All night snack bar is a disaster. Burgers, hotdogs, fries etc. are preprepared and sitting in [... read more]
Grand Memories Varadero: Great time in Cuba!!
The Riu Varadero in Cuba was a really nice resort. Very clean, the grounds were always well kept and the people were absolutely amazing. You could not walk 10 feet without the employees stopping what they were doing in order to say good morning, or good afternoon to you. The entertainment at night was also very good. Not cheesy at all and they really got the audience involved. Loved it and attended every night. As for the food: there was always lots of food and the quality was good. The only pro [... read more]
Hotel Internacional: it was a good resort
It was a pretty good resort, it was nice having the beach so close. I didn't like that when I stepped out of the washroom in my room, it startled me that the maid was there already into her cleaning. She could have knocked, or if she did and I did not hear her, she should have said HELLO, I am here Ok? There were no do not disturb tags offered. Also the food could have been improved. The laneway to the hotel was full of holes and often filled with water so you had to carefully step around and ov [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Good Resort but in need of room upgrades
We were in Unit 10. The rooms (close to the beach) in this unit were need of upgrade. We had to move out of our first (King size) room as it was stinking of a dead mouse/sewage...we moved and had to settle for two double beds- this room had a broken shower, and in need of painting and general maintenance ( the TV did not work well). The cleaning staff and maids were wonderful. The front desk staff are mediocre - slow service and unresponsive. The concierge service is poor. The food service was g [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Best trip to Cuba ever!
This was my best trip to Cuba ever! Beautiful resort not too big not to small. The Cuban people working our trip! Everybody was so nice respectful and helpful! Shout out to Yurisan and the entire pool bar crew and every single person working at this resort!! Amazing. Beach is beautiful and a bar close by is always nice. The a la carte restaurants where out of this world! Surf n turf lobster and beef.. Mmmmmmm. The buffet could have been better but there was always room for a la carte. Rooms wher [... read more]
Hotel Internacional: fantastic beach
Staff were friendly, food was acceptable, room clean and comfortable. Would certainly return to enjoy the sun and drinks. The 2 min walk from my room to the water was a welcome treat, and waist deep water clear water was an added bounus
Resonance Blu Varadero: Memories for all the wrong reasons
Run down, huge quality and staff motivation issues, cockroaches restaurant floor, no towels for 4 days, overall I would not recommend to anyone. I understand that there are cultural differences (ie socialism) and embargo issues, however, the ability to properly cook a meal does not depend solely on this
Sol Palmeras: Such a Great Experience!
On my 6th, and my wife's 3rd visit to Cuba in different resorts, an amazing holiday at Sol Palmeras. Great bungalow, great buffet La Panchita, with diverse food offers and exceptional table service (thank you Evian, Mabel, Yunislady and Rosita!). The lobby bar Cubitas, with tasty cocktails and entertaining bar waiters (thank you Rene, and all others I didn't get their names!). Great cleaning service, everyone is doing their best to accomodate your needs in this resort! Don't forget to tip worker [... read more]
Hotel Bella Costa: best holiday ever!
This was my first trip to Cuba and it has exceeded my expectations. Breezes bella costa was awesome. The food is absolutely amazing and by far better then any other resort in Varadero. I spoke with many ppl from other resorts and their food was not a good experience. We had lobster weekly and fresh fish made daily as well as the amazing freshly made thin crust pizzas. The beaches are amazing at this resort abd stretch for miles. I recommend staying in villa they are awesome. The staff are on a w [... read more]
Hotel Villa Cuba: It's Cuba - I had a great time :)
The hotel isn't huge, which is what I wanted because my spouse recently had knee surgery. Our room was fine, a lot if other guests didn't have good water pressure, hot water, or AC - but luckily we had it all :) we met some amazing people there. There's was always plenty of food and drinks. The staff were very friendly. It's Cuba, you get what you pay for, I'm never disappointed, been there 6 times.
Roc Arenas Doradas: Second time at ROC Arenas Doradas, we like it,
Lovely beach, super pool with bar, food is plenty even though it is basic but very nicely displayed, bring your own peanut butter, mint sauce for the lamb, seafood sauce for the shrimp, And your Heinz catchup for the fries. Be patient when waiting for more plates or glasses or cups, there are delays...
Grand Memories Varadero: Not Riu material, or a Cuban 5 star
This hotel has potential, yet you can tell it is being prepped for sale. There was limited service, they didn't have a lot of hi-end product, and everything had inventory stickers on them. I liked the lay out and beach, the staff were friendly, and the food was Cuba acceptable. It took us 2 days to get beach towels, and one day our placemats said 'Blau hotels' on them....that is just the start of things I could list off, yet am choosing to be nice as I still enjoyed the trip.
Sol Palmeras: Always a Great Time
First time at this resort food was okay in buffet but definately recommend booking reservations at one of their many fine resturants. (Steak house and Mexican was my fave!). The staff were amazing like most Cuban resorts! The rooms were kept clean very clean and my girlfriend and myself enjoyed how the maid would come up with something new every day with the towels. The only thing I could possibly complain about was the beds. But right from day one the greetings to the goodbyes the staff made ou [... read more]
