Royal Hideaway Playacar: Absolutely Amazing Resort!!!

We loved this resort!!! The Lobby and reception areas are very elegant. Staff were all amazing and more than willing to help with anything. Grounds were spectacular and very enjoyable to walk through!! Rooms were very nice and clean!! Service and food was exceptional. Beach and ocean were fantastic!! We will definitely go back !!!

Ocean Maya Royale: Wonderful resort

This resort was delightful! We much prefer the smaller resorts and this one had all the perks of the larger resorts. The entire resort was extremely well maintained and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and courteous. Would definitely return!!!

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites: Excellent resort!

Really nice resort, well maintained and updated, and giving the cozy, welcoming feeling. Staff was really nice, just there to ensure you are having a good time without being overbearing. Just right. The grounds were not too large to need a ride from one end to the other and spacious enough to not feel overcrowded. Again, a good balance. Food was good, and varied.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Fabulous!

Four of us travelled to this resort at the end of October 2014 and absolutely loved it. The snorkelling on the beach and the lovely staff were highlights for us. Only one negative to mention - It would be nice if the resort could include free wifi for guests as we did find this annoying and unreasonable for a 4+ star hotel.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Not bad but 3star at most

This was our third time at a resort in Mexico. The first two were 4+ star and we decided to try 5star with an Ocean view On arrival we were put in a room on the second floor, the elevator was not working, the stairs were under renovation/construction with building materials stacked on the landings and on inspection the view was of some lovely trees with the Ocean behind them (I assume) We were told at the front desk that this was an Ocean view room but after further discussion (me complaining)  [... read more]we were promised a room on the third (top) floor that would be available the next day. This was inconvenient as we had to vacate the original room before 12 noon but could not move into the new room until 3pm, nevertheless we accepted and were 'homeless' for three hours with our luggage reluctantly held at the main desk. The Ocean could infact be seen from the new room and the whirlpool bathtub actually worked (unlike the one in the first room) although later water poured from the ceiling in the bathroom due to a faulty air conditioning drain and the toilet flush mechanism was hanging off the wall when we arrived. (We came to know the very nice young maintenance man better than we would have liked) The most disappointing thing was the food. On our previous trips to other resorts we found the food excellent but here it was at best luke warm, devoid of flavor and anything (steak, pork, ham or chicken) cooked at the buffet was tough as old boots! Finally, if you go to this resort, you will need some form of footwear that will not slip (rubber soled sneakers or bare feet will not work) as all the floors in the lobby, bars, rooms and hallways are made of highly polished marble and exposed to a bit of rain become so difficult to walk on without slipping that after a while your legs will ache from taking such careful steps! Must say the concierge in our building (Paeola I think) was the only saving grace, she was exceptionally friendly, not pushy and handled our requests quickly and with a smile.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Nice resort.

The resort is lovely but it is disappointing that it is not a beachfront property. It is a great place for families with children, the jungle gym by the main activity pool looked amazing! Our room was old and had a strong musty smell especially during our first two days. The rooms need to be updated. I was not very happy that we had to pay to use the safe in the room, we have never had to do this at any other resort. The buffet had a large selection of good food and we were impressed by the leve [... read more]l of cleanliness. Staff were constantly sweeping and cleaning the floors etc. The shuttle bus is a great feature and we never had to wait more than 5 minutes to catch a ride. Overall we had a nice stay but if we return we will stay at the Akumal resort which is more elegant and located right on the beach.

Grand Palladium Riviera Resort And Spa: You never get bored!

This hotel is huge, there is so much to do that you never get bored. Great resort for walkers, and if you don't walk that is ok too as there is always a train waiting to pick you up and bring you practically anywhere on the site. So much wildlife and sea creatures to see. Food is great, especially the fresh salad bar. I would return except for the fact that I like to explore different sites.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: grand and fantastic resort

The resort is grand in size and grand in its finishings. Beautifully decorated is classic! The grounds are very lush with jungle like trees, tropical birds and some typical iquanas. Well groomed landscape with alot of clean fountains and some sounding like waterfalls every where.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: great resort

Had a great time despite the weather which is beyond anyone's control. The staff are wonderful , we had a day at the spa which was amazing thanks Lou Ann for recommending the services, the hydro therapy and saunas that you can use before your spa services are awesome highly recommended even if your not into the thought of going to the spa. Plan on going back in the spring!!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great Stay

The Sian Kaan is an amazing hotel. The ability to use the rest of the Bahi hotels is also a plus, we used them all. I would definitely recommend staying at the Sian Kaan for the atmosphere, service and food. That being said we took the opportunity to spend time at the other hotels in the complex and we would most likely stay at the Akumal next time. This is because we are beach people and do not use the pool. We preferred the beach area around the Akumal and the Coba to the rest of the beach. It [... read more] was much better for snorkeling. Don't let the shuttle rides worry you, they are short and come so often you never wait. We used them to see the complex and it made it easy to go to other restaurants, casino and gift shops which were at other areas of the complex. Food and service at the other hotels were also exceptional and the resorts are all kept in pristine condition. We found all staff to attempt to serve and make your stay the best possible, but here are a few standouts we encountered who made our stay even better. Guelliono who works in public relations at the Sian Kaan. This young man is a go to guy. You have a bright future is the hotel business. And Manuel and Franko our waiters at the Sian Kaan buffet. Thanks for the exceptional service and attention you gave us and all your clients. We had an excellent and relaxing stay.

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Great resort with jungle

We had a great time for at this resort for ten days. It was great to visit with the animals in the jungle and cool off at the same time. The food at the buffet was the best we've encountered in any resort, and the trays were constantly replaced or refilled. There were many activities offered by the resort (from archery to zumba), and the staff were enthusiastic and friendly. The ocean there is reasonably clean and the swimming was great there and in the pool. The rooms were made up nicely every  [... read more]day and the mini bar was well serviced. Just one suggestion for the buffet would be to increase the heat lamps to keep the great food hotter.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Couldn't have imagined

From the moment I arrived, simply wonderful. Everything was clean, tidy & lovely. Everything is so grand. The Lobby is enclosed in galss with air conditioning. All the staff and attentive and polite. There are plenty of Restaurants to choose from. I really enjoyed the Piano lounge perfect place to enjoy a drink before dinner or coffee after. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Wonderful resort, But!

We returned for our second stay at this resort, it's big and pretty BUT it has slipped a little from a few years ago. Pool waitress broke a glass by garbage, 2 days to clean up! Couldn't get our 3 alcarts, all sold out! On our second day, but others were able to book. We said no to timeshare, vip - hard sale all the time for timeshare- saying no shouldn't mean we can't have our dinner reservations Also pool music was heavy swearing - not approaite for family.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Fantastic Trip!!! Few minor things to note however

This site is a must for me when planning any vacations. So I have started making more of an effort to review resorts whether my resort experience was good or bad. While this resort was first class all the way there were a few minor things that kept me from giving it a 5* rating. Check-In: We arrived a little bit later than expected to the resort due to waiting for people to make their way from the terminal to the bus (not the resort’s problem). The bus to our resort only held the four of us ( [... read more]my husband, myself and his parents) and another couple. We were given cool towels upon our arrival (very nice touch and much needed). They gave us a ticket for our luggage and escorted us to the lobby to get checked in. We ended up waiting a half an hour to get checked in when there were six of us total four of which checked in together. We did get a welcome drink while we waited but I really think they need to speed up the check-in process. Grounds: They work so hard on the landscaping and it really shows. I was so impressed with all the water streams, fountains and lushness of the greenery. Even in the rain they worked on landscaping! Rooms: Pros: WOW! We stayed in the Emerald Suites in Building 10 rooms 10-103 & 10-106. They were incredible. The bed was really comfortable, room was super clean and nice and roomy. They give you really nice bath products, slippers and bathrobes for use during your stay there. Also in the closet there was a golf sized umbrella which my husband and I thought was a really nice touch. Both my husband and I and my in-laws were celebrating our anniversary and when we got to our rooms they had a Happy Anniversary cake and a bottle of Tequila with two shot glasses. There was nightly turndown service and they delivered a journal with the following days events, pool times and restaurant information. Also we had champagne delivered to our room as a surprise which was really nice. Cons: There were some rust spots on the mirros (to be expected in such humid climates), our A/C wouldn’t turn off and couldn’t be changed from the coldest setting (which most of the time wasn’t a problem), and the vents in our rooms did have some mould/rust around them and the dust inside was quite abundant. (Not a big deal to us but some people may have an issue with it). We did find a small roach in our room on day 2 but that was the only one we saw. My in-laws had several roaches and a few spiders as well. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume the critters came from outside since the Jacuzzi door leading to the patio had a significant gap. Food: Pros: The food was fantastic. 5* for sure. The breakfast and lunch buffets had something for everyone and if you couldn’t find something to eat you had a problem. Really good variety and they even did themes on some days which was nice. The a la cartes were really amazing. I don’t think we had a bad meal at any of them. The food and service was excellent. So remember to tip your servers well since they work so hard and do it with a smile on their faces. All the restaurants took special care to label items suitable for lactose and gluten intolerant individuals. Everything was clearly marked and at the buffets they had dessert displays specifically for gluten intolerant people. I thought they really took care to make sure that people who had allergies knew what was okay and what was not. First time I have seen that at a resort. L’Alsace was by far my favorite. La Hacienda was a very close second. Cons: The only thing about the a la cartes that I would say was negative was the fact that your meals take a long time. We averaged at minimum an hour and a half to two hours per dinner. So if you want to catch the shows that start at 9:00 I suggest going to dinner around 6:30 to make sure you are out in time. Bars/Entertainment: The Sports Bar was a favorite place for the four of us. They have pool tables, card tables and lots of board games to keep you entertained. After 11pm they serve snacks and have a DJ type thing. All the bars were great actually. Really nice atmosphere and the drinks were all really good. I recommend the Mudslide, Electric Lemonade, Blue Hawaiian and my favorite… Miami Vice. The shows were fantastic!! I really don’t have a bad thing to say about the ones we saw. They put a lot of effort into them and it shows. The performers do a really great job. Make sure you check out The Valentin Imperial Band. They were SO AWESOME! I could listen to them every night. If they had a CD I would buy it in a heartbeat! Pools: Pros: They were very clean and not overly loud. They provide floats which are non-reservable although people still hoarded them away. The nice thing was the staff were really on top of it and if they saw floaties out of the water they would toss them back in. The swim-up pool is where we went to swim in the evening. I like that they keep the pools open until 8pm. This is the first resort I have been to where the pools are open past 6pm. The waterfall was a favorite hang out of ours. It really added to the atmosphere. Cons: The pools are in need of some repair. A lot of missing tiles and the waterfall could use some attention as well. Didn’t bother me at all to see it but it makes you wonder what this resort will be like if they don’t tackle things like this now. Beach: It was really nice. They have red flags everywhere except for the roped off swimming area. They also have lifeguards on duty which is comforting as the water could be very rough at times. We loved swimming in the ocean and the area that they give you to swim in is quite large. Lots of shade and beach chairs. Nice sand and blue water. Rain: We experienced a Tropical depression for a little over 24 hours. The staff were great and they kept the shuttles running to take people to and from their rooms during the pouring rain. It was really neat to see that much rain. Activities still happened and the staff made sure people knew where the “rain” locations would take place. Playing pool volleyball was so cool in the rain. Lots of fun had by all. Overall: We had a fantastic trip! The people were all so friendly and always had smiles and a pleasant attitude when they work so hard and really long days! Even though most packages purchased are all inclusive make sure to tip the staff anyways. They deserve it! I would come back to this resort again in a heartbeat but I will be keeping an eye on the reviews to see if things structurally get fixed. It’s an amazing spot but if the little things don’t get fixed they will turn into big problems.

excellent food, warm friendly staff, clean and beautiful overall. The staff were very attentive especially around the pool and on the beach bringing you drinks and food. The rooms were very clean and quite luxurious. Lots to do day and night the 7 days went by way to fast

Selection Riviera Cancun: Really great resort

We went in September it was super clean with really great service the resorts is compact and more hotel like than azul fives where we stayed a few times. Fives is better place in our opinion better food resteraunts. By still excellent value here. tip if you want ocean view you need the top floor level 4 Rooms nice tv and shower with a Jacuzzi tub in bedroom for us we will be going back to azul fives just liked it better but go here its very nice as well we are in our 60s and it suited us very we [... read more]ll

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Very nice resort

Grounds are beautiful, although spread out, lots of walking. Food was very good, service was fine. Rooms were kept meticulously! Not my favourite but if the price was right I'd go again. We had a great vacation!

Just arrived after 10 days vacation. 2nd time in this hotel. Excellent resort: food, beach, service. Awesome snorkeling! The only issue I can see - too much smokers around. No place for non smoking people.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: It was the perfect vacation!

The grounds were clean, the staff was exceptionally helpful! Paula at the guest service had great recommendations which helped make out trip better. The food was much better than expected and all the staff was positive. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Me and my boyfriend never had any problems on our trip, it couldn't have been more perfect even though there was a major storm that came upon is all the staff were helpful in making all the guests feel comfortable in an otherwise scar [... read more]y situation.
