Sunscape Puerto Plata: beautiful resort

Super clean, rooms huge, service fantastic, people really nice and helpful. Close to the airport. Lots of trees, shaded beach. Pool area clean, nice chairs. No bracelets and no reservations for the restaurants - unusual and really cool.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Great Time!

awesome hotel...great facilities, pool beach restaurants the works! if you're going to this hotel to enjoy the room, then this isn't the place for u. if youre going to this place to party with ur friends and simply have a great time, this is the place! very relaxing and plenty of restaurant to chose from. Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Second Home

Travelled here for our 5th time for two weeks in October 2017. My Husband, daughters, Sister and Myself. My Husband & I celebrated our wedding Anniversary while there. Let me start by saying that this resort is Beautiful!! The setting is on a very long stretch of white sand beach that is raked and kept clean daily. The rooms are amongst lush tropical gardens with vibrant flowers and colorful bushes. The Staff and management are excellent!! Delicious and presented in a very professional manner!! The shows are awesome!! The animation Team are Excellent at what they do and always have a smile on their face and time to greet you!! Rooms are clean and comfortable!! you have a mini bar fridge in your room that is stocked daily with beer, water and soft drinks as well as potatoe chips. There are two pools both of which are great to hang out at!! The larger pool is where they hold all of the activities and play music and then there is another smaller pool which is called the relax pool where you can chill and relax if you do not wish to be a part of the excitement. both pools have bars with Excellent Bartendars!! The Beach has a bar as well with the most loving bartendar that will serenade you with songs!! his name is Euclides. We call him Mr. Bahia or Lady Gaga LOL. Shout out to Jorge at the main pool Bar and Jose at the relax pool!! The lobby bar is another place that is great to grab a drink and chill at with many staff members that are delightful and happy to serve you!!! Shout out to Carolina bartendar,server my little sweetheart!! We have been travelling to the dominican republic for the last 30 years but we keep on going back to the Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo as we feel like family and consider it to be our second home. Blau Natura Park Resort: Beautiful Grounds

Blau Natura Park Resort is truly a beautiful place. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. Flamingos walk the grounds as well. Beach always has seaweed on it and the workers are so slow cleaning it they never finish. Beach next door to the hotel (Dreams) always clean. Only one washroom to accommodate beach dwellers and people using pool. Food is great as well as the rooms. Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great Resort worth every penny!

Beautiful resort. Grounds well manicured and gorgeous. Hardworkng staff, excellent bartender in Santos at pool bar. Service was wonderful. Beautiful rooms, lots In mini bar. Enjoyed room service! Wouldn't change a thing!

Cayo Levantado Resort: absolutely the best yet

I've read previous comments about the poor air conditioning and it is true. But if you can get past that, this is a great resort, the best that my wife and I have experienced. Yes, the beach is small but it is not crowded and there are plenty of beach chairs to go around. Resort staff are GREAT! They are cheerful and have high customer service awareness. With that thought in mind, we were never in our room during the day, we were outside all the time on the beach. The food was excellent. Buffets had great food and lots of choice and all the wine/drink you wanted. Specialty restaurants were great with excellent food. But again, the air conditioning in the restaurants was not working well at all. Check-in and check-out was efficient and problem-free. The boat ride transfer back and forth is only 15 - 20 minutes but I can imagine it might be a bit of an adventure if there was a storm during the ride.... I had perfect weather so had no problems to report. One hour bus ride to the airport is interesting site seeing: landscape and driving through small villages. We are for sure coming back to this resort!

Riu Republica: FANTASTIC HOLIDAY

this was the first time we were every away alone without children. we had a great time, the resort was clean and very new, the staff was friendly and quick to respond to your requests. The entertainment crew was great !!!!! fully recommend this resort !!!!!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful Resort

The resort itself was beautiful. Grounds and landscaping very clean and well maintained. Staff were very friendly. We found the resort much too large as there are 2 other resorts that are a part of the property. The other downfall was the amount of stairs. I highly recommend but not if you have mobility issues.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Review from a family travelling with toddler.

MOSTLY POSITIVES: Travelling as a young family of 4 with two toddlers, we found the location was great. A short trip from the airport and a short cab ride from town. The rooms were fair, tidy and bright. Though we ran into the regular issues we've come to expect in the Carribean with showers not being getting very hot and not a lot of sound proofing so people coming and going at all hours was noticed. The kids center was nice and clean; we enjoyed the staff there. The buffet was good with some variation in the dinner menu. After two weeks, we had had enough but for a week, it'd be great. All the regular restaurants don't open til 6:30 which we found a bit late. The a la carte service was good but very slow so we only made it through to dessert the once as two hours in a restaurant was too big of an ask for the little ones. A FEW DRAWBACKS FOR YOUNG FAMILIES: The nightly entertainment for children which looked great started too late for the small kids to attend. The adult entertainment as well started late and always ran behind schedule. The front desk staff had very limited English which made simple questions very difficult and left us unsure of their answers on several occasions. OUR ONLY NEGATIVE: But it was a pretty strong negative. Three out of the four (including the two kids) ended up with food poisoning on our last night after dinner at one of the a la carte restaurants. We'd been sharing a salmon dish that I'd thought at the time tasted a bit strange. It made for an awful night and we were all super tired on the way home. OVERALL: The hotel was quite nice. The amenities were sufficient. Family friendly. Not too crowded (though we went a bit off season). Great location. Though we probably wouldn't go back again after the last day's experience.

Catalonia Bayahibe: Went with great expectations very disappointed

On arrival at this hotel the person at reception was only interested in updating our room from a Comfort one to Privileged only to find out over the phone there was none available. As it was not check in time we were told to go and have lunch. When we returned we were told to wait.........finally I went again to the desk, was handed an envelope with the room number. It was at the end of the corridor next to the lane way where all the delivery trucks went by. We had to return to the desk for  [... read more]our Towel cards, as we were told they would be in the room. No hot water. On Tuesday we met the Sunwing rep to complain about the water, nothing done. Wednesday we complained again and were told that at PEAK hours the hot water was limited I made sure that they would understand we did not take showers during this time. and kept testing the water temperature at different times to be sure. Ice Cold. The A/C did not work well either and kept going on and off all night, everytime it went on there was a loud noise and one could not go back to sleep. However we enjoyed the meals here and the beach no complaints. Finally on Thursday they decided they would move us to the Catalonia Royal in Punta Cana. We arrived there on Friday , the bathroom sink in our Room was unable to drain so the cleaning lady called the Service man, 3 calls later he arrived and my husband was able to assist him with the problem The Sea View restaurant was close to our room and went for dinner, please do not eat the Steak there, it was so tough and hard that we could not eat it. The next day we went for lunch and tried the Hamburger, well this was just as bad as the Steak dinner, one more try at night for dinner so we had the Salmon instead, which was very good. WE decided to try the Buffet at the Catalonia Bavaro and continued to have our meals there until our vacation was over. We enjoyed all of our meals there, no problems and very polite servers. It would have been nice if the Sea View changed its menu, but it was always the same. However, on the BBQ night it was quite different and good but when I requested a glass of water, the waitress came with the plastic bottle of water and dropped it on the table.......no cup even a paper one would have been fine. I was very surprised as this was supposed to be the top of the line for your Hotels. It was difficult for anyone to understand us speaking English as we do not speak Spanish, French, German guess we picked the wrong place to visit. The grounds of both hotels were beautiful even after a hurricane and management did a fine job keeping the place clean.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: It was a great resort, glad I was there in off season. Felt that if they were full it could of been very crowded.

Everything was looked after quite nicely but again could see problems when resort was full. Loved the variety of foods and no extra charges on premium alcohol. My room was clean and surrounding area. Nice pleasant staff, I had an enjoyable time.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Large resort

stayed the week of oct 14, 2017. It is a very large property where shuttle busses will pick you up or you can walk to your room and t the lobby.. Beach was nice but ocean had some large coral that you must manoeuvre around in order to swim. Many loungers and lots of shade if preferred. Food at buffet has wide selection of items but it tended to be repetitious nightly. The alacarte restaurants were very nice. I stayed in a junior suite which was clean and large in size and had a balcony . It w [... read more]as located in the #11 villas with a gorgeous view of the relax pool. The mini fridge was stocked daily but the temperature of the mini fridge was very warm. The door of the room was operated by a swipe card which I had many problems with getting in. It seemed everyone I spoke to had the same issues with their doors. This was quite frustrating. Grounds were nicely manicured . Although I did have a good time, I would not travel back to this hotel.

Riu Republica: Amazing resort

Everything was amazing from the food, entertainment, drinks, service, pool, beach. They had nightly shows going on, and the entertainment dancers were really good. Buffet was massive and steak restaurant was good as well. Had a lot of strawberry daiquiris at the pool bar. The beach was beautiful and pool was massive as well. They even had a foam party one day which was a lot of fun. There was always something going on at the resort which was nice.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Amazing

Hotel was wonderful,their is not a bad view as you can see water from all directions , we had a view of the bay on the elevator side . Food was just average and there is premier liquor but you have to pay for it , this is the first for us. The grounds where beautiful, and the pool was wonderful. The animation team was the best . They would take time to get to know you , and always smiling. Thank you Alex , Caroline , Sexy, Edwardo, Amanda and the rest of the team .

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: A Great Time!

A beautiful resort with well kept beaches and gorgeous accommodations. Food is good and all attempts are made to avoid any buffet boredom. A la carte choices were varied and easy to book into. With several minor exceptions service was excellent and all staff were friendly and courteous. We would definitely consider going back.

Cayo Levantado Resort: We LOVED it!!

This is a top-notch resort in an absolutely breath-taking location! Our room was upgraded to a superior junior suite with an ocean view as it was my birthday. There was a birthday banner on the door and a bottle of champagne and chocolates inside. The island is not very big so everything is conveniently located, plus there are golf carts at your service 24 hours if you don't wish to walk. We were thrilled that there are 2 beaches! One with boisterous rolling waves, the other calm turquoise wat [... read more]er and golden sand. The main pool is also right by the beach, as is the lunch buffet. All our reservations for the 4 a la cartes were already taken care of for us when we arrived. The staff are kind, helpful and cheerful. We wished we could have stayed longer!!

Cayo Levantado Resort: It was the best vacation my husband and I had in a long time, if ever.

This was the third trip to the Dominican Republic, Each time we choose the Bahia Principe, but the Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado is the best of all. We were a little hesitant, because we are both 84 years old and it is pretty hilly and curvy. But we had no problem at all. Transportation from our Beach Villa to where ever we wanted to go, was available in minutes.Our butler Jose did everything for us to make our stay memorable.At the buffet, service was excellent, the girls and guys were always  [... read more]smiling and very helpful. We went to the ala Cart restaurants, also every waiter was friendly and helpful. Mr. Manaury who served us at the Medeteranian, also at the Portofino will be for ever unforgettable. About the food, in my opinion, is equally good at the buffet, as it is in the a la cart restaurants. The only different is, at the buffet you have more choices. The matress and pillows were very good, no problem with sleeping. Liza the young woman at the reservation desk for the a la cart restaurants. was outstanding for us, we had many conversations with her, she always took time to answer many questions we had. She has a very nice personality. We also met very nice people, like Mary and Chris, also Kim and Darryl, we will keep contact with them after our return.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Perfect Vacation

We visited Blue Bay Villas Doradas in May 2017 and I'm writing this view in Oct 2017. The very fact that I can't recall a single negative point and smile when I recall our vacation is a good sign. The food was fresh and plenty with a more than adequate amount of variety for different tastes. The rooms were well kept and clean; linens and towels were replenished regularly. The grounds were tidy and pristine. Their was a good mix of different age groups and people were friendly. The  [... read more]staff were spectacular and always helpful with a good command of English. The beach was as beautiful as any other and finding a lounge chair or towels was never a problem. Being a smaller hotel the night time entertainment wasn’t like the larger over-the-top resorts but we had fun nonetheless. We walked over 6km into town and visited the local department store and a well known fish and chip spot on the ocean called Big Lee's. This was a pleasant break from the massive resorts with hundreds of people and provided the rest and relaxation we were looking for.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Great Resort

Just returned from another great vacation at our favorite resort. Everything was great food ,room,pools,ocean,. We will be returning again in February for two weeks and can't wait. This will be our 7 th time at the Esmeralda . This was the first time we have gone at this time of year and it was extremely hot . But still great!

Riu Naiboa: Very clean and super service

The only thing I would recommend is better coffee and access to the other hotels would be nice. Could also do without the bingo or make it at an earlier time and just add more dancing before the show..................................................................................
