Royalton CHIC Cancun: Great Resort!
We stayed at Royalton CHIC Cancun over the New Year’s holiday and had an overall very positive experience. The hotel was kept extremely clean, and the entire property had a signature essential oil scent. While it was pleasant in some areas, it could be a bit overpowering in others.
The beach was a standout — pristine, well-maintained, and one of the cleanest resort beaches we’ve experienced. The pool and beach servers were excellent and very attentive; we received great service every single d[... read more]ay, which really elevated our stay.
Elevators were unfortunately a bit of a pain. One elevator was down for our entire stay, which led to longer wait times, especially during busy hours. Room service was quick and convenient, though the night menu could use a bit more variety.
We had a great time ringing in the New Year at the rooftop event (additional cost), which was fun and well-organized. While many reviews describe this as a party resort, we felt the daytime pool atmosphere could have benefited from better music to match that reputation.
The à la carte restaurants were decent but nothing particularly memorable. That said, we really appreciated how accommodating they were in seating our group of six, which isn’t always easy during a busy holiday week.
Overall, Royalton CHIC Cancun is a clean, lively resort in a fantastic location with excellent beach and pool service. With a few improvements, it could easily be a 5-star experience, but we would still recommend it for a fun New Year’s getaway.

Moon Palace Cancun: Facilities not too good
The food is amazing, but the facilities are not great.
We were to have 3 rooms with either 1 king bed or 2 queen beds, but we had 2 rooms with 2 king bed and the other with one queen bed which was not what we agreed.
Also, we stayed in a place called Sombreto and on the 2nd floor. The elevator was did not work throughout our 7 night there and all our luggage's were carried by hand by the staff. We were told the elevator has been down for quite a while.
The staff were great and nice.
Sometim[... read more]es, room cleaning does not provide enough towels. The Airconditioning was not cooling even after coming to fix it.
Too much emphasis on selling membership.
Not a place to go for a 2nd visit.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Would not recommend
It was my first time to Mexico with the last two years at Punta Cana. This resort was disappointing. Very poor and unfriendly staff really stood out. Food was cold everyday at the breakfast bar and restaurants did not compare to anything we went to in punta cana. We still had a good time because we were there with our family but this was not a 4 or 5 star resort.

Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres: Would Highly Recommend for a Relaxing Vacation
Loved our stay here over the New Year’s holiday. The resort was at very low capacity, so there was a bit of a shortage in staff. No poolside or beach service. Had to go to the bar.
The Rooms, the food was amazing, beach is beautiful!
It is a very quiet resort so quite relaxing if that’s what you are looking for.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Clean and Colourful Resort
A nice resort with lots of dining and entertainment options. Our room was modern and spacious. We were expecting two double beds but made it work with a king bed and couch. The beach is beautiful but packed with people. I would love to see the resort use heating apparatus for their buffets. Unfortunately we had a lot of cold food. Definitely something easy that the resort could improve upon.

Dreams Huatulco: Lovely beach, lovely resort
We feel very lucky to have stumbled across this resort on the trip central website... We are a family of four and used many of the amenities! but every day we were back on the gorgeous beach at some point, with its perfect sand and nice waves and protection from the small island...super beautiful and relaxing.
From beach volleyball to paddleboards to small sailboats, there's something for everyone who wants to play by or on the water! Picklebar courts were discovered too late!
The rooms w[... read more]ere nice and clean, with excellent cleaning from staff. The beds were pretty comfortable and the bathroom well appointed.
The food was a nice mix although the week we were there, there were several banquets so the chance to explore the different restaurants were limited. Highly recommend the coffee bar!

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: Amazing people!!
Stayed Nov/25...great hotel, very clean, kind helpful staff. Beach is beautiful, with plenty of shade and chairs. Grounds were very neat and tidy, as the grounds crew does nice work. The ala carte restaurants were good, especially daytime at the Bluewater grill and the food truck(super fish tacos)!! Buffet for breakfast and lunch was plentiful, great selection, however not crazy about the supper buffet. I did like the taco/sopa options most nights but pirate night buffet was not good.
[... read more]So many great people, I wish I could remember all their names, as I should have written this upon returning. But I do remember Margharito, waiter at the Bluewater! Great guy made me laugh!
Warm water but waves were a bit rough, which made for alot of sand in your swimsuit! Lol We were able to walk down the beach a ways and saw the release of baby turtles, which was the highlight of our trip!!

Marival Distinct all Suites and World Spa: Incredible rooms, service & food
This was by far the best all inclusive I’ve ever been to. It did not feel like a “typical” all inclusive, as the rooms made it feel like a home away from home, and the food was not like anything I’ve ever had at another resort. We had the best time!

Riu Emerald Bay: The good, the bad, and the ugly.
Rooms were terrible and we were in a superior room. Specifically the beds were bricks and the most uncomfortable mattress we have ever slept on at a hotel. It matters for a two week trip. Maid service was fantastic and it was clean. Only English channels were news channels. It’s nice to have some variety especially when the hotel caters to visitors from Canada or the USA. Food was very good but no variety. Very repetitive to have the same meal selection every single day for two weeks. The à la c[... read more]arte restaurants were not à la carte - they were buffets and not very interesting. The beach was spectacular and one of the best features of the resort. Very accessible for explorers because the green bus is right out front and well worth 13 pesos. Staff were very nice and professional. Pools were filthy. Very disappointing. Birds were everywhere eating scraps and bees were swarming the adult pool. Entertainment was very nice but the chairs were uncomfortable most having holes in them with a flat cushion to cover up. Gym was absolutely terrible. For a resort with 1100 rooms there should be a premium gym. People do workout on vacation especially younger people and fitness should be taken seriously by hotels. One jacuzzi for thousands of people is just inadequate. Wifi service was spotty and inadequate. We would not recommend this resort.

Haven Riviera Cancun: Beautiful resort
The hotel is luxurious. My husband and went in 2022 and returned in 2025. Hands down the best resort for New Year’s celebration. Only draw back is that the serenity club gets overbooked and the private areas for club members is not exclusive so there were never any chairs to sit on by the pool.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Wonderful Resort!
The grounds and beach and food and resort staff were all amazing. We stayed on both the Palms and Suites side and both had its perks. Palma was better for the non party type but not ideal room layout if you have accessibility issues. Restaurants were easy to get into, even at nearly full capacity. And the food was just amazing. All staff were incredibly accommodating and always asked about allergies or sensitivities. The vegan restaurant was amazing too. Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: A horrible resort that ruined Christmas!
This resort is an absolute nightmare! It took almost an hour to check us in, and then we were told to wait for a trolley to take us to our room. After waiting 30 minutes we ended up walking to the room with all of our luggage. The resort wasn’t busy and had very few travellers.
Got a room with absolutely NO hot water and when we went to the front desk they were no help. We were unable to shower the entire trip and denied a room change. The front desk said they would send a supervisor to come [... read more]check our room, and at 1AM we heard a knock on our door. We didn’t answer because we were trying to sleep. We felt that it was an inappropriate time to be coming to our room, but the staff didn’t seem to care which was a common theme amongst the entire staff.
Room service stood outside our door every morning and had loud conversations at 8am, and if we didn’t leave the room by 8:30am, we would receive a wake up call from staff to wake us up. They wanted access so they could clean it, so we were not allowed to sleep past 8am. On the third day I had to unplug the phone and lock the door because they would just enter even when we were sleeping. They didn’t care.
The food service is also pathetic. You can sit in a restaurant for over 30 minutes without getting served. They got upset when I got up and served myself some water because I was needing a drink and couldn’t wait any longer. There was only one other table with people so they weren’t busy. We even tip staff 50-100 pesos and still the horrible service. After 30 minutes waiting to give our order, it was another 30 minutes for them to make a ham and cheese sandwich. The chef was so mad one day he had to make a sandwich, he smashed the bread so hard until it was in pieces and totally squished.
The room was absolutely FREEZING because the AC was broken so temp was 17.5 all day and night, and there were no blankets on the bed. Only a very thin sheet and almost froze to death the first night and woke up very stuffy. We had to ask for 2 blankets from front desk.
At 5pm on Monday a four wheeler would drive around and fumigate around pool. A big thick grey cloud would surround the entire resort and make it smell like diesel fumes for the entire evening. The next day you would find dead cockroaches in your room and all over the resort.
Ala cart meals were nonexistent. It was just the buffet food but with service. An employee named Luis would give our table away constantly and make us wait longer. They would always bring the wrong drinks, and they would pretend to be cleaning so they don’t have to serve. We watched 3 of them wipe down a table for 30 minutes while people sat waiting for drinks.
Cockroaches in room, alive and dead. They would be everywhere! We wouldn’t leave out sandles on floor because there would be one in there in the morning! Spider webs were covering the hot tub. It hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time too. There was lots of hair at the bottom when I removed the cover.
There was a very strong smell of feces between the ala cart restaurant and pool restaurant the entire week we were there. It was a very pungent odor and made you feel sick to your stomach when you walked by.
It was extremely loud from 10am-5pm around the entire resort. The Mexican entertainment staff would be screaming on loud speaker and have music blaring at top volume. We tried to have a nap but the volume of noise in the room was unbearable and we couldn’t get any rest. It was constant party, party, party!
The attitude from staff was pathetic. They didn’t want to be there and it showed. They were rude to you, they ignored any requests, and threw together food and events without even considering the guests first. They just wanted your money.
The transport from hotel to hotel was painful. Jam packed trolleys that they would squish 3 to a seat when it only fits 2. They were always late, would circle around the resort until it’s full, and hit speed bumps with speed that would send you flying in the air. It also hurts your butt and back when you landed.
They would constantly scam money from you. Taxi would over charge by a lot and shops would mark up prices 3x what it would be off the resort. A bag of chips was $30! Constant harassment from time share people when relaxing or walking back to room. They were all over the resort, and they would FOLLOW YOU!
Poor food options. Raw and undercooked food was always at the buffet. No plates, no butter, and no condiments were also a regular thing at the buffets. There was a lot of seafood and dead fish carcasses all around the buffet.
Coatis and raccoons were all around the resort and they were chased by staff and hit with net on a stick, as well as the birds. They were quite cruel to the animals in the area. The hotel even boasts that they are a nature preserve but it didn’t feel that way when they were abusing the local wildlife.
Uneven and rough sidewalk made it difficult to walk around. They put Christmas and new years decorations on the path so tourists would stop for photos. This meant you were waiting to go by for 10 minutes while people were taking photos on the pathway.
Charging extra for food and festivities during Christmas and new years to get extra money from tourists. They shut down parts of the hotel which we had already paid for so they could charge more for a party. It was constant money grabbing. “How can we get more from the tourists”…by scamming them into thinking we are giving them more when really it’s only what they have already paid for.
It’s absolutely insane how long you wait for at this resort. Especially when they were not even busy. I have attached pictures to show some of the things in this review. I would STAY CLEAR OF THIS RESORT! Waste of money!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Wonderful FamilyTrip
Before leaving for the trip we were a little concerned by some of the negative reviews we read, however we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were a little dated and could use some fixing up but the entertainment and food made up for it. The fact that it was not on the beach was irrelevant as the shuttles made it very easy to get there and we never had trouble finding chairs, the line for the bar was always long so we just brought drinks with us.
The New Years dinner and party was beyond[... read more] our expectations!
The resort is very clean, the grounds are absolutely beautiful and the people who work there are so happy, friendly and so helpful.
After touring the entire complex of resorts we will definitely be back to try out either the Tequila or the Tulum resorts for no other reason then the Coba is geared to families and small kids which we do not have.
