Sol Varadero Beach: 2 and a half resort

Tile in my room broken. My room neede painting.toilet would not flush. No straws for your drinks all week. No mohito all week,! Which is cuba drink! Food was the worst i have ever had in cuba! I have been to cuba 8 times! This is the first time i can say i was very disappointed!

Resonance Blu Varadero: Good resort.

Trip over all was good. Beach and pool area were great. The only down fall was the food. Most foods did not have much taste. And most staff was ok. I used hotel phone to call back home and when I was done I payed the lady. As I was leaving to come back home they told me I never payed my phone bill so I payed twice. Make sure you get something in writing after paying for something.

Playa Caleta: Great place, Awesome people

Service was excellent. everybody was so friendly, Rooms were very clean. The only problem was with the elevators. Somebody told me they are in the process of replacing them soon. The food was ok. I stayed during low season, so a lot of locals staying at the resort as well, which was great to experience more the Cuban culture.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Average Resort

Mainly good attention and front service was accommodating. Nice grounds, swimming pool and beach. The food was good, however they included too many regional dishes comparing with the more international food that used to be on May 2013. The night shows were mediocre. There were bugs in the food of the Japanese restaurant. In the International restaurant, no all the dishes showed in the menu were available.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Amazing resort, restful and resourceful

Very spacious clean well kept rooms. The grounds are always being kept up with the foliage and flowers seemingly always refreshing. Ocean is warm and breath taking, to float forever with a beach that seems never ending all well kept, clean chairs and lots of activities everywhere if you want to partake. The spa is great. Refreshing welcoming staff at every turn. A place you can feel free from stress and pressure.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Excellent vacation

Awesome beach, personal very friendly, clean rooms, we stayed from Sep 11 to 18th sunshine every day, great entertainment, just want to go back :) We have met people from China, Italy, Germany and all of them have the same opinion about beach,water,friendliness...

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Fantastic Beach

Check in smooth with a drink at arrival. Room not ready. Took bathing suits out of our luggage & wasted no time as e headed to the beach. Promptly at 4pm our room was ready and it was a great location close to everything. We stayed at room 2613. Great room service. No complaints. Lunches best at Buffet. Always something good to be found. Preferred to A La Carte. Waited 1 1/2 hrs for Asian. Gourmet not so great. We had two great servers at Buffet Yes see and Anna. All in all. Grand vacation. Grand Memories Varadero: Good resort - value for money

Considering you can't go anywhere in Canada or the US for $700 a week, this is great value. For example, I stayed at the Holiday Inn at the airport in Montreal (drove from Ottawa) and it cost $177 with taxes and parking for a week. The Riu is a bit dated and the food is not the best. This was our first time in Cuba so can't compare to other resorts. We wanted a beach/pool and we got it. We got really clean rooms and although the beds seemed hard, we slept really well. We got upgraded for free to Adult only and suspected it was because they were keeping one section of the resort closed since they were not at capacity. Adult only was so quiet and peaceful. Handful of guests there, no fighting for chairs. Really close to the beach! It was perfect. If you need internet, do not visit Cuba. Wifi is only free for 1 hr per day and it's super slow. Some food was really bad tasting and some just bland. Beef is almost always too chewy. Fish and pork were usually a good bet! Overall, value for our money! Really, what can you do for $700 each!!

Blau Varadero: It's an ok get away

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? (grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.) The resort itself is nice, friendly staff and clean room. One thing I don't really like is the elevator, too long to wait to go in and out of your room.

Brisas Del Caribe: Very nice resort

All facilities such as rooms and pools were clean and well maintained. Staff were very accommodating and the service was superb. However, the food left a lot to be desired and was very disappointing, unfortunately.

Barcelo Solymar: very good resort

The food Was very good. The staff was veryshopping market and and the beach was excellent. The location was in close.proximity to varedero City. We took a horse drawn buggy to the shopping area. It was a great way to see the sights. The entertainment at the hotel was top class as well as in the city. The Beatles bar was a hoot! I had an amazing vacation and i can't wait to return.

Hotel Villa Cuba: villa cuba- oh has it changed!

This hotel has changed from 4 years ago, it is a little less value for your money. Although it was not busy and full of people, there were many 1-2 or week stay guests who were local Cubans, so if you spoke English you definitiely felt a minority. weekend time it was busier and buffet hard to get good food. the food in all is the same day in day out. fish, some kind of meat, rarely chicken or hamburgers. only one kind of bread. staff are nice, do tip, it will be appreciated. the ground are great [... read more] and the pool, beach, some rooms well maintained and/or newly renovated. drink selection is excellent. location is excellent to town, to other resorts, to clubs. depends what you like but it has become worse from previous years.

Club Kawama: Disapointed in resort

This was the least liked spot I've been to so far. It is not very appealing to the eyes. Below average resort. The grounds are not well maintained. Buildings need work. Could be a better selection of food. This resort needs some TLC. Pool was nice and beach was just beautiful. Spend a little more for a better resort!

Resonance Blu Varadero: not as it seemed

the rooms were nothing like they portrayed on the website. They were tolerable but not my first choice for a getaway vacation with my husband ( we only had single beds). The food was not good. It was extremely disappointing to have so little choice in the good tasting food considering i have been to other resorts in Cuba. They offer a wide variety of A La Carte restaurants but they were not available for reservations. You do not get the choice of restaurant, the resort chooses for you. the pools [... read more] were nice and the grounds were beautiful. Most servers were friendly, some more than others.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Best value for money

We have stayed here many times, this time it was obvious there was a new manager and the improvements were noticeable. The food was much better than last year. The staff seemed happier. I like you can change money 24/7 at the front desk.

Barcelo Solymar: Great resort!

Everything was great, hotel, room, food, people, beach, pool, lobby, reception, hotel is 5 minutes walking distance from downtown Varadero, the bank is right beside Arenas Blancas.. I would go back to the same resort again

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Very nice property... will need to start updating

Rooms kept clean, grounds well maintained, lobbey bathrooms clean. Terrace off the lobbey highlight of resort. Dissappointed in the food and i have travelled to Cuba many times, for a 5 star resort very disappointing. Staff are amazing

Resonance Blu Varadero: Beautiful family resort!

Many reviews I had read before I left for my trip in September 2014 had me with low expectations. People say the resort it too big and lots of walking, but there are carts to drive you around constantly running. I was amazed at how beautiful the landscaping was! It really, truly is a beautiful place. I recommend booking your a la carts as soon as you can! That's where the good food is. If you are a coffee drinker, skip the coffee at the buffet and get your yummy frothy one at the lobby, in fact I would get that first then head to the buffet with it. Rooms were nice, spacious and always clean. Beach is stunning, the water is so clear and breathtaking. I went with some adult friends and left my 4 kids for the week and couldn't stop thinking about how amazing it would be to bring them there. The entertainment staff, and kids programs look really great for them and I would bring my kids there for sure! I contemplated whether to get the diamond club or not, and chose not to. The only thing I saw worth it was having an air conditioned room at the buffet. Other than that, with tips to the people you can pretty much get what you need! One thing I regret not doing is bringing toys and clothes for kids to give away, many people bring toiletries for the workers to leave, but as many have families, they would appreciate it so much! The shows at night are amazing! Must see- Michael Jackson night and the water ballet! Bring your tumblers or mason jars for drinks so you're not going back every 5 mins with tiny cups. Also no spills in the pool lol.. Pools are beautiful and clean! Someone mentioned in a review that they were filthy, well I never saw cleaner pools consdering the amount of people in them! Pool with the slide is the party pool, and loud, so if you want something quieter, head to the one close to the lobby. It was a great place overall and would recommend it for sure!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: “Beautiful Resort, Incredible Staff!!”

This is the review I posted on Tripcentral We just returned from the Iberostar Laguna Azul on Sept 20/14 and we had an absolutely incredible time. I've never written a review before, but felt compelled after reading several poor reviews of this resort prior to us leaving. There was a group of 10 of us with a total of 5 rooms. We arrived to the resort at 11am and the like all resorts and hotels, rooms are not ready until 3 or 4pm, this is posted on all hotel websites, so I'm not sure why people  [... read more]are so shocked and upset when there room is not ready on arrival? The waitresses greeted us with drinks while we waited. The Bell Boys were fantastic and once we received our room keys, they went ahead and spoke to the maids to try and prioritize getting our rooms done asap, so we didn't have to wait. Within about 30-45 minutes, we were checked in and in our rooms and headed for the beach! We have been to Cuba several times and this was by far one of the nicest resorts we've stayed at. The staff was incredible, extremely friendly, very helpful. The activity team always had something on the go, both at the beach and at the pool. Maria Cleapatra and the team made sure there was no shortage of activities all day long! The bar staff around the swim up pool, both Kensi and Darien always greeted you with a smile and you never went long without a drink! There was never an expectation of tips and you were not treated or served any differently if you did not tip. The beach here was absolutely beautiful and clean, crystal clear water! The pools were all very clean and well maintained! The grounds were beautiful and meticulous! Our rooms were all very nice and very clean. Air conditioning worked great, no shortage of hot water, no shortage of towels or anything else. If you needed anything extra, you simply asked the maids. They stock your bar fridge with pop, beer and a large water bottle daily, we asked for extra water, so the maid left us 2-3 bottles each day. The food was very good, certainly not what it is in many other countries, but you never went hungry. We continued to be impressed each day by the variety of good food. If you love seafood, there was no shortage of it, we had fresh, grilled shrimp every night for dinner! We went to 3 of the al a cartes, the Italian, the International and the Japanese, they were all very good, however the Japanese was fantastic! The chef was very entertaining and cooked your entire meal right in front of you. I would recommend this resort to anyone and will definitely go back! For those who have written poor reviews, either you had an off experience, or you expect to be treated like royalty. I did not meet one person at this resort, who did not have great things to say about their trip. Like I mentioned earlier, there were 10 of us, no one got sick, no one had anything negative to say about their stay and we'd all go back in a second! Cuban people are the kindest, hardest working people, they work 6 days a week, 10-12 hour days or longer (depending on their job) and make 20-25 pesos a month! Yet they smile every day! Palma Real: Amazing resort

Great Resort. It was close to downtown so I will always go and dance. I could also go to the Havana club for free. They also had nice choreography shows at night. The swimming pools were also great and clean.
