Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great resort !

This was our first time doing a 10days vacations and we have no regrets. The resort is so big (including Akumal and Tulum) that you don't get bored. The check-in was efficient and fast. The room was very clean and my son's bed was already made which was appreciated. We enjoy walking but if you don't/can't, there are plenty of "carts" going around all the time. Again very efficient. The beach is not only a long sandy beach but some portions are, other are more "wavy", other are for snorekling and [... read more] safe for kids. I would say something for all taste. The 4 restaurants we have tried were very good with great service especially the Gourmet and Arlequin. So many variety because you can use the 3 resorts facilities. Since we went at the end of June , the weather was hot and the air conditionning in our room was barely sufficient. The ceiling fan made a difference but could have been cooler. Another small negative point is that I didn't like the fact that we had to pay $5 US/day to use the safety box in our room. It's the first time we had to pay and we travel once or twice a year. But we would go back because the overall stay was great.

Grand Riviera Princess: Spectacular Spot!!

We recently stayed at the Grand Riviera Princess to attend a wedding. We were amazed at the beauty this resort offered! If you haven't been here before it's a must visit!! We have nothing to complain about, our trip was simply AMAZING!!

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Fabulous Resort

This hotel was fabulous. This was our first time in Mexico and we would definitely go back. Pool was great always lots of activities going on, the lazy river was relaxing and the beach was beautiful. The waitress on the beach was very efficient even though it was very hot, she always delivered with a smile. My sister-in-law swam with the dolphins and we got to watch it was fascinating. Food was great, our week was wonderful.

Grand Sunset Princess: Fabulous second time around

This was the second time we have stayed at the Grand Yucatan Platinum swim out room and will be back again. Resort is maintained pristine inside and out. Staff are friendly and accommodating and restaurants are great!

Great resort for the whole family.clean grounds, amazing water park for the kids.buffets and restaurants were great . phenomenal beach.all the staff so helpful and always working so hard.good value!!!

Hyatt Vivid Playa Del Carmen: Royal Playa Del Carmen

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? (grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.) The hotel was perfect, food, service, sitting area, bars and check in was perfect. The room is above perfect the best room i have every been, lots of room and clean.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Royal Hideaway

This resort caters to older clients 50 and above which suited me. Grounds were well maintained and quite beautiful with very large mature trees providing much needed shade to walk up to the main building. Waiters would visit laying on your lounge chair and offer to bring you beverages every half hour or so. No need to get up to visit the bar unless you wanted to stretch your legs. She took very good care of us and ensured we had our 7 dinner reservations all scheduled the first day we arrived and continually checked with us to see if we were enjoying our vacation. Most staff we encountered were amazingly friendly and polite. Some bar tenders were not very friendly. Absolute vodka, Ciroc other top shelf liquors are part of all inclusive package. Restaurants provided very good meals for the most part. Buffet breakfast is outstanding and they serve Mimosas every morning with breakfast if you like them. Lunch can be served in the restaurant overlooking the ocean or delivered to your lounger. Felt very decadent to sit on a lounger and have lunch delivered. Formal afternoon tea was a nice treat one day with tiny treats. Beach area is nicely shaded with palm trees if you're looking for shade and there are lots of sun loungers. There are even beds with mattresses overlooking the beach. No shortage of beach towels. Didn't try the spa or the parasail, suba diving, or snorkeling, or day trips. Walked to Playa Del Carmen to buy a few t-shirts. Took a taxi back to the resort (this was a very hot walk of 20 minutes). A few negatives. Be careful on the steps in the infinity pool. Steps are all the same dark blue tile, and some people stubbed their toes, scraped their legs because they couldn't tell where the steps were while getting out. Tile edge of each step needs to be changed to a different colour (bright yellow) so guests can tell where each step rises. Infinity pool is beautiful. Restaurants - Las Ventanas wasn't our "cup of tea" for dinner, although the presentation by the chef was absolutely beautiful. The flavours were just not to our liking, but the beef tenderloin was really good. Entertainment was good on Tuesday at the buffet restaurant. We were among the last 10 people to be invited up to the buffet tables, and discovered most chafing dishes empty of the hot food. Even butter for the bread ran out (requested more butter from 3 servers) but were slow to respond. Getting enough to eat over the day isn't a problem at all. Only discovered lack of food at the buffet on Tuesday. ALWAYS use the in-room safe to store all valuables. In room safe batteries were dead when we checked in, but maintenance came and replaced them promptly. Safe worked fine. At the end of our stay some cash was stolen from a night-table was noticed after the maid cleaned the room. I wanted to give this resort a 5 star, but given these negatives, can only give a 4.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Nice resort

Just like other GBP resorts I've been to, the grounds were beautiful and well taken care of. The room was a really good size but not as modern as other parts of the resort but clean with a nice bathroom. I found the room to be a bit dark as well even though we had a large patio/balcony. It's too bad there are no other windows. The beach was decent-there's a dock in the water where they do zumba and other activities. There's also a man made barg in the water that people often sat on. It looked ki [... read more]nd of slimy and gross to me so we never went on it. There was not much seaweed at all. A la carte restaurants were good overall and buffet had a good amount of variety. We were there for 2 weeks in November and it rained for 3 straight days the first few days. I'm glad we were there long enough to enjoy the sun after that for over a week. When it rains there's not much to do and the lobby gets full of smokers which being a non smoker was totally unappealing to me and my husband. Overall good resort.

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Relax to the Max!

Secrets Capri met all of our expectations! The hotel was beautiful featuring clean rooms, attentive staff, and excellent food! We enjoyed every minute of our stay and would visit again. Thank you to all the staff at Capri ...your hard work is appreciated!

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Great Beach, bad food, terrible service

The staff refused to honour my upgraded room, as they sold it off to another tour group, and stuck me in a rather old and outdated room. The person at the desk refused to even apologize for the mixup, and inferred that I was lying since I couldn't prove that I had booked the upgrade (The email was in my work account). The next day, upon escalation, I finally got an apology rather than smug denials, but apparently the resort was fully booked, and I was stuck in the room I was in. The food wasn't [... read more] very good, overall, but quite terrible at the buffet and the Mexican restaurant, which seems to try to cater more to American style mexican than authentic. The steakhouse and tapas restaurant were ok, but the steakhouse would occasionally be closed for no reason anyone could explain. Even when it was open, when they asked how you wanted your steak cooked, it seemed more like a survey than an order, since it would come out at a random temperature. The beach was great, perfect sand, nice water, plenty of fish in the ocean nearby. Everything I wanted out of that part of Mexico. The only issue were deckchairs. Only the privileged side had any with shade, and these would be claimed before 7am in the morning, and some of them would sit empty all day. The resort needs to work on identifying these vacant chairs and removing the items. I have no problem moving towels out of the way, but the new trend is to leave actual clothing and items behind, and I don't want to touch another persons items. All in all, I won't be returning to this resort. I won this trip through the trip trivia, and am grateful for the free week's vacation, but upon my twice annual trips to Mexico, I will definitely stay elsewhere.

the service staff was amazing! Weather was poor but that is obviously not the resorts fault. They did provide umbrellas. I can't say enough about all the staff. So helpful and genuine. They wanted my stay to be memorable.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great resort!

Went here with our family in mid June and had a wonderful time! The staff was great, food was great and facilities were super nice. The resort is huge and with access to all 3 of them you really get a little bit of everything! We stayed in the Coba, we really like it there. The hotel rooms were very large (not that you will be spending much time in there anyway). Only issue we had was that our remote control in our room didn't work and they never came to fix the problem after asking many times.  [... read more]There seeme to be a leak coming from the airconditioner but it was very slight an since we were never really in the room anyway, we didn't care very much. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and recommend it to anyone, especially families!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS...PLEASE READ!!!!!

Please take the time to read this if you want to stay at an amazing resort! I'm long winded...but I'm passionate about good service, food, and value! My wife's co-worker and her husband stayed at Barcello Maya Colonial, and it was reccomended we stay there. Having never been to Mexico before...we took their word it would be safe, fun, and affordable. They raved about this place. I cannot say enough good things about Barcello Maya!!!!! The staff were amazing...always attentive...and always welcoming...right down to the moment we left...they did not stop being friendly!!!! I had read some reviews about bartenders not paying attention to you...but we found that only once...and that was just my wife and I being, "typical tourists"...so I get that. Once we started to feel the flow of the people...this never happened again. Rookie mistake on our part. The beach was out of a movie...white sand...no sandels needed...soft on your feet...even in the ocean! Fish swimming around you. There are a lot of free things to keep you and the kids busy...we have a 13 year old boy...and he was never bored once! I reccomend the full day execration to Tulum...where you do have a day at Tulum...and the other half snorkling over the second largest reef in the world with Sea turtles so close you could touch them (but don't)...and you swim right over the reef...AMAZING!!! Be prepared to swim at Tulum ruins....you only get 30 min free time after the tour in tulum...but worth it! Wear shoes to the Tulum tour...but bring sandals for the snorkelling. I liked this excertion because it was fast moving...never bored...you leave by 8...home by 4...lots to see...they feed you at an amazing restaurant...a lot of value...and youre out in the sun all day which is nice....but by water so you can get wet! We were told it was safe to take a Celetivo 'City bus" into Playa del Carmen. Being from Canada...and hearing the news...I was nervous about my familes safety. In the end...we had a great time...always felt safe...and will be making another trip via the bus this year when we return this Oct for our second trip back to Barcello!!!! The food was out of this world...lots of choices...a la carte's were high end...bring some nice clothes...no shorts allowed there. I wore jeans...some people chose to dress sharper...just no shorts.

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Good Time Resort

This is a nice smaller style resort. The staff are fantastic and bend over backwards to please. For me it was more for the younger crowd due to the free booze. Even while under-going renovations the resort proved to be everything you would expect from a Secrets resort. Would really like to see Secrets make an over 55 resort some day.

Akumal Beach Resort: Incredibly Relaxing Resort

One of the best resorts I've ever been to. Not a five star but did not expect it to be. However, was so much more than that. Wonderful ocean views from every room, delicious food at both the buffet and snack bar, wonderful salt water pool and the mist amazing beach. Would return anytime and am planning on it!

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Fantastic Resort

Was at the resort for a family reunion. Fantastic beach. The hotel did an excellent job of accomodating a group of 17+ (including children) for dinner reservations each night. The food was excellent and the pools were a big hit with the kids.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: awesome resort

I can find no fault with this resort. I have stayed at a dozen or more in Mexico and this is by far the best. Beautiful facilities, great food, very helpful and service oriented staff. Would return in a heartbeat !!

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Great place ,great beach

I typically go 4.5 star but took a chance on this resort because o the beach. Well its a great place love the buffet more then the a la cart. Love to go back, smaller resort but the beach makes up for smaller grounds.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: best yet resort

well we visited 2 weeks in nov 2013 with significant concerns with the resort , room issues which were not all taken care of, & mainly my family was flying in from out west, staying at another resort. the telephone was not working, yet no employee informed me, despite numerous visits to desk., & etc other maintenance concerns. Covered expenses to get to their resort and visit for the day, which was greatly appreciated. Booked for Feb 2014 for 2 weeks, thou unexpected heart issues, prevented me a [... read more]nd partner from our vacation well deserved. Told the day before I could not go. So with no cancellation insurance & 2 persons severely upset. Continued for 2 weeks of health tests. Now I am trying again, will hope to be going back to Sandos Nov 14th for 2 weeks with partner. & given a second chance to this amazing resort despite issues. We are counting the days, and hope all goes well. Like beach, shade areas, water, different evening activities, mini golf, entertainment at theatre, staff so happy, helpful, no negativity, warm & relaxing atmosphere, reception available day or night for concerns, meals, private adult section & private adult breakfasts, the rooms are gorgeous when working. Marco Salvai & Giovanna Barberai did make an offer to upgrade our room, & bracelet within 1 year of Nov 2013 visit. Looking forward. Yes I would not hesitate to go back and tell others, in which I have done. Thank Lawrence S. at Trip C. for assisting us each trip , and has recommended other resorts & his choices were great & satisfying. He answers all calls, and meets our needs beyond expectations.
